200 Influential Journalists 'Unplugged' During 4-Day NewsBios PR Event

200 Influential Journalists 'Unplugged' During 4-Day NewsBios PR Event

NewsBios has been providing major global corporations and public relations agencies with journalism dossiers since 1987. The company maintains profiles on more than 7,000 active journalists, a complete list of whom can be found at http://www. newsbios. com. NewsBios also offers to rapidly build custom profiles on any journalists not already in the company’s extensive media library.

Denver (Vocus) February 16, 2010

The unvarnished dossiers of more than 200 of the country’s most influential business and financial journalists will be available this week on demand to public relations and media relations executives.

This special 4-day-only event is being conducted as a means of introducing corporate and agency communications executives to the NewsBios-on-Demand 24/7/365 journalism biographies and media research services, according to NewsBios’ executive editor Dean Rotbart.

Unlike official biographies or those profiles available for free on the Internet, NewsBios are professionally reported and compiled to paint a full, no-holds-barred personal and professional portrait of journalists whose output influences both consumer and investor decisions.

Each NewsBio delves into the journalists’ professional and educational experiences and detects personal details that may have impacted the journalists’ approach to their jobs. Examples include health care reporters whose family members have faced major illnesses; Wall Street reporters whose family members work for major investment houses; and numerous business and financial reporters whose spouses or siblings work in the industries they cover.

NewsBios has been providing major global corporations and public relations agencies with journalism dossiers since 1987. The company maintains profiles on more than 7,000 active journalists, a complete list of whom can be found at http://www. newsbios. com. (NewsBios also offers to rapidly build custom profiles on any journalists not already in the company’s extensive media library.)

While many NewsBios clients have come to rely on the personal touch offered by its service agents during regular business hours, NewsBios is rapidly expanding the number of profiles that are available 24/7/365 from its NewsBios-on-Demand. com service. The NewsBios-on-Demand. com website allows anyone using a major credit card to order and immediately download the bios of select “in-demand” journalist on nights, weekends and holidays.

From Tuesday, February 16th through Friday, February 19th, all profiles at NewsBios-on-Demand will be available for the reduced price of only $9.95 each. To obtain this special discount, users will have to register with the site and enter the special coupon code “PresidentsDay” at checkout. NewsBios ordered through the normal customer service-supported site (http://www. newsbios. com) or by phone (1-866-NEWS-070) will remain priced at the standard $69.95 rate.

Among the 200-plus journalists’ whose recently updated bios are currently being offered at NewsBios-on-Demand. com are:
Ellen Byron – The Wall Street Journal  Dagen McDowell – Fox Business Network  Peter Elstrom - BusinessWeek  Greg Farrell – The Financial Times  Susie Gharib – The Nightly Business Report  Jessi Hempel – Fortune  Stefanie Ilgenfritz – The Wall Street Journal  Linda A. Johnson – Associated Press  Steve Lohr – The New York Times  Donald G. McNeil Jr. – The New York Times  Scott Patterson – The Wall Street Journal  Michael Peltz – Institutional Investor  Chad Terhune – Bloomberg Business Week  Ali Velshi – CNN  Jessica Wohl - Reuters

“Many professionals, hoping to save a few dollars, think to themselves, ‘Why should I pay for a NewsBio when I can get an official bio for free on the Internet?’” observes NewsBios’ Rotbart, a one-time investigative reporter for The Wall Street Journal.

“The difference between a professionally compiled NewsBio and a ‘giveaway bio’ is the difference between propaganda and investigative reporting,” Rotbart maintains. “When your company’s or client’s reputation is riding on the outcome of a news story, which resource do you want to rely upon?”

Rotbart notes that NewsBios aggregates and sifts information from more than 60 sources of public information and combines that research with its own analytics and proprietary databases. Among the core advantages of a NewsBio over self-conducted media research is that because NewsBios tracks so many journalists, the service is able to compare/contrast journalists with their peers and competitors.

“Trying to do it yourself will give you a glimpse of a single journalist,” Rotbart explains. “But we know not only our journalists in great detail, but also their bosses, colleagues and competitors. We tell our clients how typical or atypical each journalist is.”

Those wishing a free, no-obligation sample NewsBio can also order one by registering online and selecting the “print and call” option at checkout. Those who wish to pay and download any of the 200-plus NewsBios-on-Demand, should enter the “PayPal” option. Customers can use their credit card through PayPal without having to become a PayPal member.

For additional information, public relations and media relations executives may visit the NewsBios web sites (http://www. newsbios. com and http://www. newsbios-on-demand. com) or phone during regular business hours, 1-866-NEWS-070, ext. 2.

Big Brother's Steven Daigle to Ride Bulls at Gay Rodeo in San Francisco

Big Brother's Steven Daigle to Ride Bulls at Gay Rodeo in San Francisco

Steven Daigle, the immensely popular gay cowboy who appeared on this season of the hit show Big Brother on CBS, will be returning to the rodeo arena at the Best Buck in the Bay -- the San Francisco Bay Area's Gay Rodeo & Festival -- August 16-17, 2008.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) July 31, 2008

Steven Daigle, the immensely popular gay cowboy who appeared on this season of the hit show Big Brother on CBS, will be returning to the rodeo arena at the Best Buck in the Bay -- the San Francisco Bay Area's Gay Rodeo & Festival. The rodeo will take place at the Driscoll Ranches Event Center in La Honda, California the weekend of August 16-17, 2008. Contestants from throughout the United States and Canada will be heading to the Bay Area to compete for buckles and prize money in 13 different rodeo events over the two days. Celebrating 21 years of gay rodeo in the Bay Area, the Best Buck in the Bay is one of the many events comprising the IGRA Rodeo Series.

A past bull riding and steer riding champion in the gay rodeo circuit, Steven Daigle has not been able to compete in over a year due to injuries he suffered while riding a bull in Denver, CO. This year's Best Buck in the Bay will serve as his big comeback on the circuit. Rodeo fans will have an opportunity to see him compete alongside many other great competitors in Bull Riding, Steer Riding, Chute Dogging, and the rodeo's "camp events" including the spectator favorite Wild Drag Race. All the rodeo events run both Saturday and Sunday of rodeo weekend. The competitors receiving the highest combine scores in each event will be awarded championship buckles, ribbons, and prize money at the Awards Ceremony which takes place Sunday evening at the rodeo grounds.

"I'm really excited to be back out competing again," says Steven. "The gay rodeo is very close to my heart and I can't wait to see all my fellow competitors and friends again."

Fans of the television show Big Brother on CBS will recognize Steven as the funny, fun-loving gay cowboy who was the second to be voted out of the house. Despite his early departure, he's found a huge following among the tens of thousands that follow the show both on television and through all the extended coverage online. The exposure provided by the show has significantly raised awareness of the gay rodeo and as a result, it's quite likely that this year's Best Buck in the Bay will see many new spectators and contestants attending the rodeo for the first time.

Nothing could please Steven more, "I'd love to create awareness and encourage everyone to experience gay rodeo. We're one big family and every rodeo is like coming home for Thanksgiving. I've really missed it."

For more information on the Best Buck in the Bay and all of the scheduled events on rodeo weekend, visit BestBuckInTheBay. com (http://www. bestbuckinthebay. com) or call 415-561-9228.

Economy Hurting Child Care in Georgia; Stephanie Blank and Quality Care for Children to Host Fundraiser

Economy Hurting Child Care in Georgia; Stephanie Blank and Quality Care for Children to Host Fundraiser

Tough economic times are putting a strain on families and the child care services they use in Georgia, and a group of prominent citizens led by Quality Care for Children and philanthropist Stephanie Blank is hoping a major fundraising event in April will bring more money and awareness to what has become an urgent and growing problem this year.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) March 25, 2009

Tough economic times are putting a strain on families and the child care services they use in Georgia, and a group of prominent citizens led by Quality Care for Children and philanthropist Stephanie Blank is hoping a major fundraising event in April will bring more money and awareness to what has become an urgent and growing problem this year.

Blank, a passionate children's advocate who chairs the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Foundation board and is the wife of Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank, is hosting QCC's third annual El Día de los Niños fundraising event on Thursday, April 23, at the W Hotel in Buckhead. The Latin-themed fundraising party is part of a nationally recognized day created to "honor and celebrate all children--who represent the hopes and dreams of every community." It will feature a high-end silent auction, interactive entertainment, and imaginative ethnic foods and cocktails. Radio personality Mara Davis from DAVE-FM will emcee, and a limited number of tickets are still available.

"We're urging people to visit www. qualitycareforchildren. org to join us, to donate, or become involved in the work of ensuring kids have the quality care they need early in life, particularly now, in these difficult times," Blank said. "El Día de los Niños is a fun and celebratory event, but we can't forget its very serious intent, which is to raise the critical dollars needed to connect more families with quality child care in Georgia."

A recent QCC survey found that 86 percent of child care centers in a 36-county area covering Northwest Georgia, metro Atlanta and Central Georgia are now reporting higher than normal vacancies triggered by the economic downturn. With unemployment high, QCC also found that parents who can no longer afford licensed, high-quality care are increasingly turning to lower-cost alternatives, such as unlicensed caregivers, where there is neither a guarantee of a safe environment or a high likelihood that a child's early learning needs are being properly supported.

"Right now, many families are overwhelmed by what's happened with the economy and they're struggling to make difficult financial choices," Blank said. "We simply can't in good conscience allow quality child care to deteriorate, particularly now during these tough times. There are no do-overs with kids. We only get one shot at raising them, giving them the proper care and the access to learning they need in their early formative years."

"QCC has been helping working mothers and child care providers in Atlanta's neighborhoods for more than 30 years," said QCC Chief Executive Officer Pam Tatum. "This may prove to be the most challenging yet for the families we serve, and we need to do everything we can to be there for them now, and help them through these turbulent times."

Sponsors for this year's event include Newell Rubbermaid, UPS, AT&T, Alston & Bird, Georgia Natural Gas, Mitchell Meetings, WXIA-TV, BAD Studio, The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, The Atlanta Falcons, Deloitte, EventScapes, Interprint, Jefferson Wells, Sparks Grove, and SunTrust Bank.

Quality Care for Children (www. qualitycareforchildren. org) is Georgia's leader in equipping parents and child care providers with the tools they need to receive and provide high quality, affordable child care so that all children have access to superior early learning experiences and are ready for school.

More Than 30 Veterans and Spouses Show up for Sweet Water at Largo "Open House"

More Than 30 Veterans and Spouses Show up for Sweet Water at Largo "Open House"

A standing-room-only crowd of more than 30 people showed up for the Sweet Water at Largo (www. SweetWaterAssistedLiving. com) "Open House" for veterans and their surviving spouses. The topic was "VA Pension: Aid and Attendance." The guest speaker answered many questions, including how to qualify for additional income from the VA to help pay assisted living and nursing home expenses.

Clearwater, FL (PRWEB) May 27, 2010

Michael and Kory Stoeckle have worked hard for more than 10 years to make Sweet Water at Largo (www. SweetWaterAssistedLiving. com) a special place for residents, but they also want their assisted living facility to be a resource for the community -- and a recent "Open House" did just that.

More than 30 people showed up at an "Open House" May 12 for veterans and their surviving spouses. The topic was "VA Pension: Aid and Attendance."

The guest speaker for the event was Lori Gable, who works for Veterans Pension Resource, which describes itself as "a private company that helps wartime veterans and their surviving spouses to qualify for additional monthly income to help pay for expenses such as home health and assisted living facility care."

The presentation took place in the activities room of the assisted living facility, which is located at 11290 Walsingham Rd., Largo, FL 33778.

Sweet Water's Michael Stoeckle spoke highly of Gable. "She knows and understands the VA rules and the Medicaid rules to assist veterans and their surviving spouses receive benefits," he said

The audience had a wide variety of questions, but a key element of the presentation was who qualifies for the benefit. According to Gable, there are three requirements: 1) Wartime Service 2) Medical and 3) Financial.

Here are the Wartime Service Requirements: The veteran must have had an honorable active military service and, also, be a veteran or surviving spouse of a veteran who served 90 days of continuous, active duty military service, with one day during a wartime period.

Wartime Periods were defined as:
World War II: Dec. 7, 1941 through Dec. 31, 1946
Korean War: June 27, 1950 through Jan. 31, 1955
Vietnam War: Feb. 28, 1961 through May 7, 1975
In Vietnam from Feb. 28, 1961 through Aug. 4, 1964

Medical Requirement: The Veteran or surviving spouse must require assistance to perform two or more Activities of Daily Living (ADL). The ADL examples include monitored medications, bathing, toileting, dressing, walking.

Financial Requirement: Because each family's resources can vary widely, assets, income and expenses are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Perhaps the question most were interested in was "How much income can I receive?"

That answer: It depends. For example, veterans who are single can for qualify up to $1,644 per month, while a married Veteran can qualify up to $1,949. For a surviving spouse, it's up to $1,056 per month.

After the presentation, attendees were treated a wide variety of snacks, including veggies, meat, cheese and, for those with a sweet tooth, cup cakes. More than half the people lingered in the activities room to ask questions of Gable about their particular need.

Others clustered around Administrator/Owner Kory Stoeckle and asked about various aspects of the Sweet Water at Largo. A number of visitors choose to take a tour of the facility.

Stoeckle and her husband, Michael, became involved in senior assisted living nearly a dozen years ago. They were looking for a special niche in terms of senior housing, something more personal than large corporate assisted living facilities but, at the same time, more refined than converted homes offered by "Mom and Pop" operations.

The Stoeckles decided to develop their own special formula and eventually created what they call "Excellence in Senior Care" for their residents. The "Open House" program for veterans and their surviving spouses was an example of that personalized approach.

Sweet Water at Largo is at 11290 Walsingham Rd., Largo, FL, 33778. It is licensed by the state of Florida Agency for Health Care Administration as an Assisted Living Facility. License # AL8175.

Former U. S. DiplomatÂ’s Web-based Listing Service Offers a New Approach to For Sale By Owner

Former U. S. DiplomatÂ’s Web-based Listing Service Offers a New Approach to For Sale By Owner

After returning to his home in Michigan following a second medical evacuation from China due to a mystery illness that left him unable to carry on with his normal duties, former diplomat Arthur Marquardt is counting on his online real estate listing service to help to carry him through hard times. Following an ensuing series of debilitating and life-threatening illnesses, Marquardt has turned to the online business world to launch a new career. His newly-formed company, LaoMa Enterprises, LLC, in July, organized the LaoMa Real Estate Listing Service. This service offers nation-wide exposure on the Internet for anyone who wants to sell a house or property quickly. LaoMa’s service has hundreds of real estate investors and a huge targeted audience of prospective buyers standing by to purchase practically any kind of house or property—from top-of-the-line to run-down fixer-uppers, in virtually every price range, size or condition. This unique service helps to eliminate long periods of stressful waiting for the property to sell. The website address for this service is: www. laomarealestatelisting. com

Jerome, MI (PRWEB) August 25, 2005

In August, 2003, Arthur Marquardt, serving as a diplomat attached to the United States Embassy in Beijing, China, suddenly found himself stricken with a deadly and unknown disease and hospitalized under the benevolent care of an international group of doctors at the local VIP hospital in the Chinese capital. Initially suffering from advanced acute kidney failure, Marquardt, who ironically had been one of the embassyÂ’s key SARS reporters the previous Spring, was flown back to the United States in a virtual race against the clock for emergency treatment, While the kidney failure eventually loosened its grip after a series of emergency dialysis treatments, a series of related and equally debilitating illnesses ensued, leaving the former diplomat unable to return to his former position at the embassy.

Now, nearly two years and three major surgeries later, Marquardt is taking his first steps on the long road to recovery. With an eye to the future and the need for a new income source, between hospital stays, he founded LaoMa Enterprises, LLC. Several online businesses were begun under the LaoMa umbrella, with the most recent being the LaoMa Real Estate Listing Service. This service provides an opportunity for anyone wishing to sell a house or property in a hurry to list it on MarquardtÂ’s nationwide website. This method not only vastly increases the exposure of the house or property for sale to potential buyers, but also takes a good deal of the stress on the seller away. The website provides instant access to hundreds of investors who are looking to buy virtually all kinds of real estate, regardless of price, size, location or condition. It also reaches a huge targeted audience of potential buyers. There is a $200 charge to list and only a one-time $1,000 fee when the property sells.

While Marquardt continues to recover from the August, 2003 mystery disease that nearly took his life, he has become increasingly optimistic over what he sees as the great potential of the Internet to provide serious entrepreneurs with the happiest of marriages--a golden opportunity to earn a healthy living and a great chance to help people by providing a valuable and convenient online service.
