Recognizing the Midas Touch of a ParentÂ’s Hand

Recognizing the Midas Touch of a ParentÂ’s Hand

Sensory integration can change a childÂ’s world

Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) March 10, 2005

Vivian Nelson Melle, a former special educator and mental health counselor, knows the benefits of sensory integration. She knows children, as well as adults, have different reactions to their environment. Last year, Nelson Melle merged her expertise in childhood education and knowledge of natural products to launch her website, MamitaÂ’s Creations.

Nelson Melle says sensory integration has changed the world of special education by offering some explanation for many childhood behavior issues. To illustrate various reactions to stimuli, Nelson Melle proposes the example of scraping a fingernail across a chalkboard. “Most people grimace and feel uncomfortable,” she reports. “That very same feeling may be what a child experiences when merely being hugged,” Nelson Melle further explains. She maintains while many children enjoy soft cuddling; some children may need a firm caress to feel secure and less anxious. The first touches of a parent to their newborn baby, the rambunctious tumbling of toddlers, and the tender wiping of a child’s tear form a distinct perception of their surroundings.

Throughout her span of over twenty years in the field of education, Nelson Melle realized the benefits of a simple sensory activity, the massage. “I’ve witnessed hyperactive youngsters becoming relaxed and rested after gentle foot massages,” she said. “Additionally, I’ve offered anxious teens some lotion to massage into their hands and observed them soon speaking and writing their thoughts in a relaxed manner,” she states.

As humans, the sense of touch is one of the most important forms of expression. Nelson Melle’s decision to help other parents came shortly after having her daughter. Although she knows sensory integration has changed the world of special education, she passionately believes everyone can benefit. Parents naturally soothe a crying baby with touch. Often today, meeting leaders ask attendees to stand up and stretch. Indeed, we all can benefit the Midas touch. Everyone, especially parents, should seek more information about sensory integration. Nelson Melle knows educators and parents with limited budgets search for “do it yourself” help on sensory integration. She offers free information and seminars to parents. For a small fee, schools and organizations may also offer staff and members her trainings.

More information on sensory integration or the products Nelson Melle offers, please contact her or visit her site at www. mamitascreations. com.

Crestline Selects Integrated Online Marketing Leader Oneupweb for Pay Per Click Advertising Campaign

Crestline Selects Integrated Online Marketing Leader Oneupweb for Pay Per Click Advertising Campaign

Oneupweb partners with Crestline, a leading provider of custom imprinted goods, to develop paid search solutions increasing site visits and conversions.

Traverse City, MI (Vocus) September 26, 2007

Integrated online marketing leader Oneupweb has been selected by Crestline, a leading provider of custom imprinted goods, to develop a paid search program.

"Crestline is a company known for its customer service, and at Oneupweb, customer service is something we focus on every day," says Oneupweb CEO Lisa Wehr. "Our two companies clicked right away."

According to Crestline E-Commerce Manager Larry Chasse, Crestline was looking for a search engine marketing company to help them increase the number of unique visitors to their site, reach new markets and bring in qualified traffic resulting in conversions. They were in the process of creating vertical markets that meet customers' diverse needs, such as providing customizable products tailored to education and health care. Crestline recognized the need for their website to support these markets and be a top online destination for consumers.

"Crestline is great in terms of customer service, but we needed to extend our reach into new markets," notes Chasse. "It's easy to drive traffic to a website, but we wanted to drive quality traffic that would result in sales."

To Chasse, Oneupweb stood out as the company that most understood Crestline's goals and seemed best equipped to help them successfully achieve these goals.

"Oneupweb is a company with a proven record and the tools to do the job right," he explains. "Having a partner that knows the pay per click and search engine optimization worlds as well as they do has been invaluable."

To meet Crestline's goals, Oneupweb has already developed a strategic pay per click advertising program to reach targeted prospects.

"We have tried to match Crestline's level of service in every interaction. The ad copy we've created for them focuses on their superior level of service and their product quality," says Wehr. "Within a month's time, we've already seen their average click through rate rise and conversion rates improve in a very competitive market."

Oneupweb uses its proprietary technology, ROI trax®, to monitor, track and improve Crestline's campaigns. The conversion tracking and reporting technology has helped to monitor pay per click ad performance, letting them know what's working and what isn't.

"Oneupweb watches our site very closely. They make adjustments quickly and seamlessly when needed, all the time letting us know what they're doing and why," says Chasse. "We're confident that we will continue to see more qualified traffic and greater conversion rates as we continue to develop our relationship with Oneupweb. To me Oneupweb is more than a vendor; they've really been a partner for us."

About Oneupweb:
Oneupweb has been an innovator in online marketing for more than a decade, creating integrated online marketing plans that include natural search engine optimization, paid search marketing, podcast production, social media marketing, usability analysis, website conversion improvement, media placement, and blog marketing. Women’s Community Clinic Offers On-Site Mental Health Services to Uninsured Women in San Francisco

Women’s Community Clinic Offers On-Site Mental Health Services to Uninsured Women in San Francisco

San Francisco-based nonprofit expands their services to include mental health counseling services.

San Francisco, CA (Vocus) October 27, 2010

Beginning this month, the San Francisco-based nonprofit Women’s Community Clinic has expanded their services to include mental health care by offering clients integrated behavioral health services. The integrative behavioral health model is an innovative approach that coordinates clinical and behavioral health services to enhance health outcomes, especially for under-served populations.

“There is a clear need for accessible mental health services in San Francisco, especially for women,” said Carlina Hansen, Executive Director of the Women’s Community Clinic. “In the past year, only slightly more than half of San Franciscans who needed mental health care were able to obtain it. Yet almost 1 in 4 women are diagnosed with depression and anxiety—more than twice the rate of men. The addition of on-site mental health services allows the Clinic to better serve our clients and our community.”

The Women’s Community Clinic is initiating this expansion through a partnership with the Wright Institute’s Integrated Health Psychology Training Program (IHPTP), which places a clinical doctoral trainee at the Clinic to deliver these services. The Clinic’s inaugural trainee is Ziska West, who has a background in feminist studies and social justice work.

Clients can be connected to the Clinic’s mental health services for a range of concerns that might arise during a routine women’s health visit, including anxiety, depression, stress, pain management, trauma, and smoking cessation. The comprehensive and effective on-site services provide our clients continuous care at the Clinic and allow our clinicians and mental health providers to remain in close communication and collaborate regarding a client’s care.

About the Women’s Community Clinic: The Women’s Community Clinic is committed to meeting the sexual and reproductive health care needs of Bay Area women and girls. We honor our mission to improve the health and well-being of women and girls by providing sexual and reproductive health services, outreach services, and health training programs. Since 1999, we have served more than 20,000 women and trained more than 500 health worker volunteers. http://www. womenscommunityclinic. org

Exclusive Chicago Fitness Facility Offers Results in the Loop, Not Memberships

Exclusive Chicago Fitness Facility Offers Results in the Loop, Not Memberships

Fitness experts in the Loop opening a unique location with a twist, no memberships will be sold. People will pay to choose from a mix of programs and services that all deliver different results.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) August 25, 2006

UNICUS Fitness is doing away with gym memberships at its newest creation on Michigan Ave in the heart of the Loop. They announced the opening of The Fitness Lair at 233 N. Michigan Ave. The Fitness Lair will have a stocked lineup of specialty fitness programs, personal training, elite sports conditioning and corporate wellness programming. The unique thing is that no memberships will be sold. In order to get into this exclusive location, people will have to decide which of the offerings that they want to purchase based on the result they are looking to achieve.

"We wanted to offer something to people who don't want to go to a typical gym and pay an initiation fee and then a monthly rate and then an extra fee for personalized instruction or programming. With The Fitness Lair, people just pick from our menu of services and we deliver the service," explains UNICUS Fitness Co-Founder and President, Frank Nunez.

"The Fitness Lair is all about the client and their result. The Lair doesn't have leather couches or waterfalls in the lobby or expensive art work on the wall, but it does have a lineup of equipment that delivers the promise of our clients getting the result they want."

Set on the top floor of 233 N. Michigan Ave, there isn't even an elevator you can take to get to the Fitness Lair.

"Our clients want privacy and exclusivity. We have no walk up traffic, since no one can even get in the building without first calling or emailing us and asking for an appointment," says Nunez. "We offer high level training for all our clients but we have attracted a lot of interest from professional athletes, models and actors/actresses, groups that place a premium on getting a result and complete privacy."

Once in the Fitness Lair, the first thought that runs through peoples minds is, "This is going to be serious." No shiny rows of machines or the sterile look of contemporary gyms, just a wide open, industrial look that lets the customer know that the Fitness Lair is not your average workout facility. With a combined total square footage of just around 11,000, there is an area roped off exclusively for personal training that has dumbbells all the way to 100lbs, barbells and benches, plus an entire alcove dedicated to state of the art functional training equipment made exclusively by Vortex Fitness. There is even custom made equipment, provided for UNICUS Fitness by Body Solid and Direct Fitness Solutions, local Chicago land equipment vendors. A separate Group Fitness Area and Sports Conditioning Area, including a fighting sports section, complete with a small army of punching bags, round out the many training sections of The Fitness Lair. "If your typical high end gym or health club in the city were like going to a drugstore and buying an over the counter medication to take care of yourself, The Fitness Lair is like going to a heart surgeon in a state of the art clinic. " says Nunez. "We have things that people won't ever see in a typical gym and we guarantee our work."

There is a therapy room that UNICUS offers massage as well as pain therapy in the form of what is called Muscle Activation Technique. There is also an office that houses a Registered Dietician and Corporate Wellness Specialist. A complete line of nutritional products are also available for clients with everything from genetically engineered vitamin packs to meal replacements to XS energy drinks available for purchase onsite.

For additional information on the Fitness Lair or UNICUS Fitness programming or to arrange a private tour, contact Frank Nunez.

Chefs to Go: Visiting Consumer Homes to Transform In-Home Eating

Chefs to Go: Visiting Consumer Homes to Transform In-Home Eating

Consumers donÂ’t need to face dull meals in their homes any more. A growing trend brings chefs into peopleÂ’s homes to cook for days ahead of time, and one company puts the kitchen back into consumersÂ’ own hands as well.

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) November 11, 2004

If youÂ’re tired of looking at the same, average meals on the plates in your home, youÂ’re not alone. The restaurant industry is competitive and lucrative because most Americans today donÂ’t really feel confident in the kitchen. Many feel that cooking takes too much time and expertise.

A new trend, though, is bringing professional chefs into peopleÂ’s homes one to two times a week to produce evening meals for the next many days. The meals can fit various dietary needs, can suit the consumerÂ’s menu preferences, and can cost less and be more relaxing than frequent restaurant outings.

In the Dallas/Fort Worth area, Wellness Solutions to Go provides this service through their “Healthy Chefs To Go” program. But unlike similar businesses in other cities, they don’t stop with that one service.

“If someone wants to rely on a chef to do all the work, that’s ok,” says Adam Buttorff, Operations Manager for Wellness Solutions to Go. “But we also provide options to empower people so that they can learn to shop and cook for themselves, taking the mystery out of cooking. We want to show them that it’s simple to prepare gourmet foods on their own.”

Healthy Chefs To Go offers a six-week course called “Lifestyle Makeover: Unlocking the Mysteries of The Kitchen” that actually begins in their customer’s local grocery store, where they teach how to shop in order to prepare for any kind of menu. Afterwards, the actual cooking takes place in the customer’s own kitchen, where he or she learns from a professional how easy it can be to prepare great food at home.

Another service by Healthy Chefs to Go is an unusual course called “Lifestyle Makeover: Mastering the Dinner Party.” In this case, the course is a dinner party in itself where guests learn the whole process of cooking for a group without having to get their hands dirty. The chef cooks the evening meal, but teaches the group about food preparation, timing, food lore, and related topics.

“We’re very excited about how we can help people,” says Buttorff. “Our nation is facing such a challenge with overweight adults and youth obesity. Much of this is simply due to a lack of knowledge about healthy food preparation. With a little education, we can provide people the ability to craft their own diets, enjoy entertaining, and make wonderful use of their kitchens as well.”

Oregon's Advantis Credit Union Defies National Trend -- Reports Record Deposits and Members, Is Lending Despite Credit Freeze

Oregon's Advantis Credit Union Defies National Trend -- Reports Record Deposits and Members, Is Lending Despite Credit Freeze

Advantis is hiring, opening new metro-area branch and reporting 35% increase in deposits; ranked #1 credit union in the nation for returning financial value

Portland, Ore. (PRWEB) May 5, 2009

Despite the economic downturn and hosts of failing financial institutions, Advantis Credit Union is making national news with record growth during 2008 -- a 35% increase in deposits and nearly 4,000 new members. The credit union, which opened its first west metro location last month in Hillsboro, received more than $20 million in new deposits during its two-day grand opening, and has added more than 800 new members and over $38 million in deposits at that branch alone. Advantis was also recently ranked #1 credit union in the nation - and in Oregon -- for returning financial value to its members.*

Because of its continued growth and healthy financial condition, Advantis is not only avoiding the national credit freeze, but actually increased its total loan volume by more than 26% during 2008. As many financial institutions are turning down or limiting credit for consumers and businesses, Advantis Credit Union's sound underwriting practices and consistent growth mean the institution is able to lend to its members.

"Our members say we're like an old school community bank where they can come in, talk 'live' with their loan officer, have a cup of coffee -- they trust us," says Chris Anderson, Advantis VP of Lending. "For us, the basics of smart-prudent-case-by-case - lending is alive and well. We have money to lend and we're willing to lend it."

Commitment to Smart Lending Practices Pays Off--The dramatic downturn in the economy is widely believed to be the result of defaulted loans funded under non-traditional mortgage programs. Advantis, committed to smart lending practices that serve the interests of members, has never offered such products. In addition to the security and confidence this affords members, it has also helped Advantis keep loan delinquency ratios low. Supported by its continued strong financial performance, Advantis has also built up reserves against future potential losses.

Many consumers, their faith shaken in the economy and a volatile stock market, are now turning to credit unions like Advantis for safety and better value for their money. "Advantis' financial services have been of interest to people who may be panicked in this economy because they can actually improve their financial situation by banking with us," says Advantis CEO Ron Barrick. "Consumers simply get more for their money with Advantis. We position ourselves as the financial institution of choice for people who are looking for a terrific service experience and consistently good financial value."

One Couple's Story--Advantis Credit Union members Cheryl and Harrison Martin, on the verge of becoming empty-nesters in Portland, had hoped to get a loan toward the purchase of their dream home earlier this year. Unfortunately, like so many others in their position, the current credit crunch and strict computerized loan formulas that determine approvals made it difficult to get a home loan from any financial institution.

"My husband is self-employed and we are the co-signers on our son's first home - two strikes against us and the reason other banks were quick to decline our loan requests almost immediately. The computer would spit out our information and the lenders' hands were tied - nothing else mattered to them," said Cheryl Martin of Portland.

The couple's last stop was Advantis Credit Union and today, the couple has purchased their dream home in Washougal and is moving this month. "Advantis took our information, looked at our financial history, and gave attention to our individual situation. Because they can offer in-house loans and don't rely on other external decision-makers, we were approved within 24 hours at more than two interest points lower than other banks were advertising," said Martin.

Credit Union Benefits--Sound lending is just one of the reasons why credit unions are proving such an attractive alternative for consumers.

Security and ownership
Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives owned locally by their members, which enables Advantis to focus not on returns for shareholders but on providing as much value as possible for members.

Better rates, lower fees
As part of their commitment to member-owners, Advantis and other credit unions commonly offer lower interest rates on loans and provide members with higher earnings on their savings. Member-owners also frequently enjoy low fees and freedom from hidden penalties.

Responsive member service
Credit unions commonly deliver robust member service and a wide range of free services. Among its many member benefits, Advantis delivers free seminars for members on various financial topics.

Federally insured
Advantis, like all Oregon credit unions, federally insured by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF), which is administered by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an agency of the federal government. Members' deposit accounts are insured up to $250,000 by the NCUA.

About Advantis
Advantis Credit Union is one of Oregon's largest member-owned financial cooperatives, with over 39,000 members and 5 branches in the Portland area. Membership is open to anyone who lives, works, or is a member of an organization in Benton, Clackamas, Columbia, Hood River, Lane, Linn, Marion, Multnomah, Polk, Washington or Yamhill counties in Oregon, and Clark, Cowlitz, and Skamania counties in Washington. Visit www. advantiscu. org.

For more information, contact:
Claudia Johnson, 503.266.1776

*For the first three quarters of 2008, Advantis ranked first out of an average of 195 credit unions in the U. S. with assets between $250 million and $1 billion for returning financial value to members by Callahan & Associates, a national research and consulting firm. For the fourth quarter of 2008, Advantis ranked third in the nation, but first among credit unions in Oregon within this same asset category.
