Gary Miliefsky to Play Key Role in the Development of the Open Vulnerability and Assessment Language Standard Initiative

NetClarity, a leading provider of network vulnerability products and services, today announced that Gary Miliefsky, founder and chief technology officer, has joined the OVAL (Open Vulnerability and Assessment Language) Board. OVAL, which is sponsored by the US-CERT at the U. S. Department of Homeland Security, is an international, information security community baseline standard for how to check for the presence of vulnerabilities and configuration issues on computer systems.

In addition to Mr. Miliefsky, the OVAL Board includes representatives from major operating systems vendors, commercial information security tool vendors, academia, government agencies and research institutions. The Board creates and/or approves the official common OVAL Schemas and evaluates, reviews, and comments on OVAL vulnerability, compliance, and/or patch definitions for publication on the OVAL Web site. Board members may also author draft definitions and perform test bed evaluations of definitions.
The MITRE Corporation maintains OVAL and provides impartial technical guidance to the OVAL Board on all matters related to ongoing development of OVAL.
