Penguin Releases Scyld ClusterWare 5.2

Penguin Releases Scyld ClusterWare 5.2

Latest Scyld ClusterWare Release 5.2 expands platform support for its industry leading suite of provisioning, management and performance tools for HPC clusters.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) February 11, 2009

Penguin Computing today announced the immediate availability of the latest version of its high performance computing (HPC) cluster management solution Scyld ClusterWare 5.2. This release makes the classic Scyld benefits of fast dynamic provisioning, single system style management and guaranteed environment consistency available for RedHat EL5 and CentOS 5 based systems. The latest release also introduces new manageability and monitoring capabilities and support for OFED 1.3.

"Scyld ClusterWare has greatly improved the productivity of our 22-node Altus cluster," said Erich Schraer, Network Manager, Washington University at St. Louis. "We are now able to complete more jobs than we were before using Scyld ClusterWare, giving us much higher utility of our computing resources. We look forward to this newest Scyld ClusterWare release from Penguin Computing."

With ClusterWare 5.2, customers can now take advantage of improvements to the Linux kernel combined with Scyld ClusterWare's ease of use. Significant changes to the kernel include enhanced scalability across multiple cores and an improved I/O scheduler. ClusterWare's new web based management framework features node management capabilities based on Intel's IPMI standard and is seamlessly integrated with Scyld ClusterWare. Information on the health of compute nodes, cluster statistics or status information on Infiniband switches is accessible through any internet browser. Integrating version 1.3 of the Open Fabric Alliance's OFED stack 1.3, ClusterWare supports a wide variety of Infiniband HCA's and provides subnet management capabilities that enable customers to take advantage of the price-performance of lower cost, unmanaged Infiniband switches.

"With Scyld ClusterWare 5.2 Penguin Computing is once more demonstrating its leadership in providing the easiest to use, most integrated cluster management solution in the HPC market today. With support for Redhat 5 computing infrastructures and new management features, this Scyld ClusterWare release makes it even easier for engineers, scientists and researchers to manage a cluster without the requirement of a deep HPC cluster expertise," says Tom Coull, Senior VP of Product Management and Development at Penguin Computing.
