Dental Advisors Announce New Service, Help Americans Save Up To 90% On Dental Work in Costa Rica

Costa Rica Dental Advisors today introduced a referral service saving Americans up to 90% on dental procedures performed by some of the world’s most prominent dentists.

San Jose, Costa Rica (PRWEB) June 16, 2010

Concurrently with being recognized as one of the world’s most advanced dentist communities, Costa Rica Dental Advisors announces a referral service providing Americans and the global community access to a network of first class dentists at a fraction of the cost of that in the US.

“150 million Americans lack sufficient dental insurance and are charged excessive fees for cosmetic dental work and implants. A dental makeover that costs $60k in the US can be performed for $15k in Costa Rica. The quality of work is on par with that of American dentists or better” says Francini Retana Rodriquez, co-founder of Costa Rica Dental Advisors.

The referral service is free. Patients fly into San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica which is only a 2.5 hour flight from Miami and 5.5 hours from Los Angeles.

“All dentists in our approved network speak English and we follow our clients through every step of the process making the stay in Costa Rica a breeze” says Rodriguez.

Medical tourism is a growing phenomenon and baby boomers are flocking to Costa Rica for Extreme Makeovers using Costa Rica Dental Advisors.

Dental procedures range from single implants to full mouth reconstruction helping people achieve a correct, healthy bite.

Dentists in the network have performed over 5,000 implants, each implant guaranteed for life. The cosmetic specialists have become the dentists of choice to international top models and TV personalities.

Reed Group to Offer MDGuidelines Free to Medical Students - Return-to-Work Durations and Treatment Guidelines Will Help Future Doctors Consider Work Issues When Treating

Reed Group to Offer MDGuidelines Free to Medical Students - Return-to-Work Durations and Treatment Guidelines Will Help Future Doctors Consider Work Issues When Treating

Reed Group announced today that the company will offer medical students free access to MDGuidelines, its extensive database of return-to-work durations and treatment plans for disability, workers’ compensation and other medically-related work absences.

Westminster, Colorado (Vocus) November 5, 2009

Most physicians routinely treat working adults, yet occupational health fundamentals are rarely included in medical school curricula. To help future physicians understand these critical issues, Reed Group (http://www. reedgroup. com/) announced today that the company will offer medical students free access to MDGuidelines (http://www. mdguidelines. com/), its extensive database of return-to-work durations and treatment plans for disability, workers’ compensation and other medically-related work absences.

Reed Group President, Guidelines, Jon Seymour, M. D. (http://mdguidelines. wordpress. com/), says that, in offering MDGuidelines free to medical students, the company is spearheading a much-needed educational agenda.

“What people do for a living, and their ability to continuously perform on the job, have a huge impact on their health. There is a large amount of evidence showing that time off work is almost immediately detrimental to patients, and that ‘disability’ is a complex and potentially chronic syndrome that is not being handled well by many physicians. Yet occupational medicine is still overlooked or underserved in most medical schools,” Dr. Seymour says. “MDGuidelines can help educate the next generation of physicians in a critical area in which they are not currently getting much training.”

Dr. Seymour also says that MDGuidelines is a resource to help medical students manage a specific patient’s injuries or illnesses with respect to return-to-work outcomes and to measure their performance against other real-world experiences.

“Managing patient treatment to evidence-based guidelines is critical. In return to work, we have the added advantage of clear case data against which to benchmark. In the big picture, return to work is one of the best available measures of healthcare outcomes,” Dr. Seymour says. “Tomorrow’s physicians will be better armed to deliver quality care from having used this important resource in school.”

Reed Group’s MDGuidelines evidence-based, physician-reviewed database is based on more than two million cases and covers more than 1,300 medical topics.

To receive their free subscriptions, medical students should email freemdg(at)mdguidelines or call (toll-free) 866.889.4449 or 720.379.6979.

Reed Group will be exhibiting at the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) 2009 Annual Meeting, November 6-11 in Boston, Mass. Attendees are invited to stop by Reed Group’s booth (#605) for a demonstration of MDGuidelines. com.

About Reed Group
Reed Group is the world’s most trusted source of return-to-work information, helping companies improve employee absence outcomes. Reed Group’s data, tools, customized solutions, and case management services help reduce absence incidence and duration, and get employees back to normal, healthy lives and full productivity. Medicare Makes Biggest Changes Since 1992

Medicare Makes Biggest Changes Since 1992

BenefitPackages. com, California's designated Premier Partner for Anthem Blue Cross, is working to educate seniors about the Medicare Modernized Plans that will go into effect this June. Seniors must actively enroll to take advantage of the increased benefits with lower premiums.

Calabasas, CA (PRWEB) May 5, 2010

BenefitPackages. com, California's designated Premier Partner for Anthem Blue Cross, is working to educate seniors about the Medicare Modernized Plans that will go into effect this June. Seniors must actively enroll to take advantage of the increased benefits with lower premiums.

Should I change my Medicare Supplement to a “Modernized Plan”?

Beginning June 1st all new Medicare Supplement Plans will be “Modernized Plans.” Medicare Supplements will undergo their first major facelift since 1992, when the 12 different standardized Medigap policies (Medigap Plans A through L) were laid out. Members who enrolled before June will not automatically be rolled into the new modernized plans, but may choose to migrate. All Modernized plans will include:
An additional Hospice benefit which includes  • coverage of up to a $5 Co-Payment for pain medication
 • the Inpatient Respite Care Benefit will cover the 5% Co-Insurance

Pricing will also be different. At first the pricing will be similar to pre-modernized plans. According to Larry Hurwitz, owner of BenefitPackages. com, one of the largest insurance agencies in CA, "As the years go on, pre-modernized plans should increase in cost more than their modernized counterparts." This is because the modernized plans will have new, healthier people aging in, as opposed to a closed pool of people who will be getting older. Market forces causing pricing disparities will be further accentuated by the Medical Loss Requirement (MLR) contained in the Reconciliation Act of 2010 (H. R. 4872). This requires that 85% of premium dollars need to be paid out in claims.

Swapping plans and Specific Plan Enhancements:

Plans E, H, I, & J will no longer be offered. This is because CMS has determined that the specific benefits of those plans do not justify their premiums. For example: Plan “J” is the same as Plan “F,” with the addition of a small Preventive Care Benefit and an At-Home Recovery Services benefit not covered by Medicare. Preventive Care and Home Recovery has been updated to coordinate with Medicare guidelines and is no longer a separate benefit. Most importantly, CMS determined that these benefits did not justify a 20%-30% premium. Two additional lower-cost plans, M & N, are now available. Neither M nor N covers the Part B $155 deductible nor the Medical Services excess charges. Plan M includes the Part B Co-Insurance and Plan N includes it minus up to a $20 Co-Payment for Office Visits and up to $50 Co-Payment for Emergency Room. The Part A Hospital deductible is covered with plan “N” but Plan “M” covers only 50% of your $1,100 deductible. Both include a foreign travel benefit. Modernized Plan “G” will pay 100% of the excess charges, in contrast to the current 80%.

How do I migrate into a Modernized Plan?

You can change anytime with Medical Underwriting. Fortunately for those who can’t qualify medically, there is a “birthday rule.” This means California members can downgrade or move to a lateral plan during the 30 days after their birthday.

Baby Boomer Hearing Loss Is Costing Millions

Baby Boomer Hearing Loss Is Costing Millions

While hearing loss has historically been associated with age, increasingly people in their 40s and 50s are bewildered and devastated by this condition. According to Randy Wohlers, President of HearPod Inc., specializing in the correction of baby boomer hearing loss, “Baby boomers are the first generation to be exposed to electronically amplified sound. Today, we know that prolonged exposure to loudly amplified music over 85 db can cause permanent hearing loss. Many cases of hearing loss among baby boomers can be traced to their youth when they listened to rock bands or played in them. Additionally, baby boomers are the first generation to experience prolonged exposure to loud sounds from electric blenders, lawn care equipment, power tools, recreational vehicles, jet airplanes and even electric tooth brushes.

Cornelius, NC (PRWEB) February 22, 2006

While hearing loss (http://www. myhearpod. com/about_hearing. html) has historically been associated with age, increasingly people in their 40s and 50s are bewildered and devastated by this condition. According to Randy Wohlers, President of HearPod (http://www. myhearpod. com/about_hearpod. html) Inc., specializing in the correction of baby boomer hearing loss (http://www. myhearpod. com/babyboomer. html), “Baby boomers are the first generation to be exposed to electronically amplified sound.

Baby boomers usually experience hearing loss as a thief sneaking up from behind, robbing them of their earning potential and life's pleasures. Income squandered by working people with uncorrected hearing loss ranges from $1,000 a year (for those with mild hearing loss) to $12,000 a year (for those with profound hearing loss). Business people lose large sums of money due to verbal misunderstandings. Hearing loss diminishes their ability to enjoy conversations with friends and family, resulting in unnecessary misunderstandings and disagreements. Over time, they can question their decision-making ability, leading to a loss of self-confidence and erosion of their sense of well-being."

Designed by baby boomers for baby boomers, HearPod digital hearing aids are the culmination of 20 years of research on baby boomer hearing loss treatment (http://www. myhearpod. com/hearing-loss-treatment. html) and precision hearing. Utilizing physicians' results, HearPod Inc. provides a complete line of HearPod 100% digital hearing aids (http://www. myhearpod. com/digital-hearing-aid. html) that employ a unique combination of the latest 100% digital technology and ultra-comfortable anatomically designed fitting. Every HearPod digital hearing aid (http://www. myhearpod. com/about_hearingaids. html) is custom programmed, and comprehensive service is obtained from the comfort of the baby boomer's home. Perhaps most importantly, HearPod offers these hearing instruments at a price anyone can afford.

National Launch of Integrated HSA Product Enhancement for Banks and Credit Unions

National Launch of Integrated HSA Product Enhancement for Banks and Credit Unions

My Medical Control, LLC the innovator in claim cost management tools and services to the consumer, delivers new medical claim pricing tools to account holders with high deductible health plans through innovative partnerships with Banks and Credit Unions.

Louisville, KY (PRWEB) February 2, 2007

My Medical Control, LLC today announced the formal launch of an electronic enrollment and communication program for financial services organizations offering Health Savings Accounts to their customers with a qualified high deductible health plan.

My Medical Control, LLC provides a revolutionary new business delivery model to account holders with Health Savings Accounts and a correlating High Deductible Health Plan by offering a consumer-friendly, secure, and independent opportunity to analyze their out of pocket medical bills against a national medical claim "charge-to-reimbursement" database. The analysis ensures any individual with an out-of-pocket medical bill, obtains the lowest wholesale price from their medical provider before they pay their portion of the bill. The wide discrepancy in actual reimbursement rates negotiated by insurance companies and offered by providers to the insured consumer has created a structure where consumers with high deductible health plans pay very different prices for the same procedure and from the same provider. The service application is designed to evaluate a consumer medical bill to ensure that the final rate being paid by the consumer is the lowest "wholesale rate" available from the medical provider regardless of health plan affiliation or provider network. The service is 100% risk-free as the consumer only pays for the service by sharing a portion (%) of the amount actually saved.

"The tremendous growth within the banking and credit union market related to HSA's and the increasing pressure to provide healthcare-related decision support tools to assist their customers in better managing their actual out-of-pockets costs is what drove us to create this new electronic integration opportunity" says Timothy E. Cahill, President & Managing Director of My Medical Control, LLC. "Our service and business delivery model is very complimentary to an HSA product offered by a bank or credit union. We provide co-branded, easy, and secure access to our review and settlement services at no cost to the financial institution. This new application allows their customers 24/7 access and 100% utilization control while saving their customers real money and helping both parties grow their asset base".

My Medical Control, LLC combines several industry proven and successful cost management principles, a national medical claim charge-to-reimbursement database, an advanced technology driven workflow, and a team of highly skilled and professional staff and packages it into an easy to use, secure, risk-free web application available to the account holder on demand.

"We provide a practical tool from the consumers' perspective, that assists them in managing the complex issue related to price transparency, or lack thereof says Cahill. When a consumer realizes that they may be paying significantly more than others for the exact same care, from the exact same medical provider, they become motivated into action. Unfortunately, they have little access to independent resources that can really help them, until now.

The electronic integration and communication program from My Medical Control, LLC has been in limited production with several national banks and credit unions for over 12 months, and is now available to any qualified bank or credit union interested in providing healthcare related tools and resources to their account holders. The new financial institution integration and communication program can be customized and operational in as little as 30 days.

Given No Chance to Survive with Pancreatic Cancer, Chicago Woman Finds New Life at Northwest Community Hospital

Given No Chance to Survive with Pancreatic Cancer, Chicago Woman Finds New Life at Northwest Community Hospital

"I was told by the Mayo Clinic there was nothing they could do," Geraldine Perrotte said of her pancreatic cancer. But the Chicago woman refused to give up in her fight against this deadly disease. Perrotte's persistence led her to the Illinois Center for Pancreatic and Hepatobiliary Diseases at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, where the expertise of Dr. Malcolm Bilimoria made the difference in her life.

Arlington Heights, IL (PRWEB) April 20, 2010

Geraldine Perrotte never lost hope despite the devastating news she heard from doctors at a nationally recognized medical center about a cancerous tumor on her pancreas. The position of the tumor near a major blood vessel made her circumstance grave, and Geraldine was informed in November that she had only months to live.

“I was told at the Mayo Clinic that there was nothing they could do,” said the 63-year-old Chicago woman. “The tumor was wrapped around the portal vein. They told me I had about 10 months to live.”

Geraldine returned home to the Chicago area, but refused to give up in her fight against pancreatic cancer. Her persistence led her to the Illinois Center for Pancreatic and Hepatobiliary Diseases (http://nch. org/medical-services/pancreas-health/daniel. php) at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, where the expertise of Dr. Malcolm Bilimoria made the difference in her life.

In January, Dr. Bilimoria removed her cancerous tumor during an intricate eight-hour operation that involved the Whipple (http://nch. staywellsolutionsonline. com/Search/34,18629-1) procedure, considered the most complex surgery outside of an organ transplant. Geraldine has remained cancer-free to date, and her prognosis is good, Dr. Bilimoria said. “Geraldine’s life is now measured in years rather than months, and more importantly, she now has a real chance of cure from this disease,” he said.

Pancreatic cancer is widely considered one of the deadliest cancers. This year, the American Cancer Society estimates there will be 42,500 new cases of pancreatic cancer, and 35,000 deaths from the disease.
“Surgery to remove a tumor offers the best chance for long-term control of all types of pancreatic cancer,” Dr. Bilimoria said. “In Geraldine’s case, I also had to remove a large portion of her portal vein. I then did a venous reconstruction, taking a piece of vein out of her neck that I used to rebuild the portal vein.”

Dr. Bilimoria (http://nch. org/medical-services/pancreas-health/expertise. php) has averaged 50 to 75 major pancreas surgeries per year over the past decade, compared to many medical centers that may perform only one or two of these cases a year. Since opening the Illinois Center for Pancreatic and Hepatobiliary Diseases one year ago, Dr. Bilimoria has performed more than 200 major pancreas and liver surgeries at Northwest Community Hospital.

“I feel really good. I’m up and around, and I’m getting back into shape,” Geraldine said. “Never give up and never stop fighting no matter how dim your outlook might be. There’s always hope.”

Carolyn Clark Loder, land manager for Lafarge North America, and Teresa L. Magnus, CEO of Vulcan Industrial Contractors Co., LLC, pave the way for women in the construction industry.

Fort Worth, TX (PRWEB) April 29, 2010

The National Association of Women in Construction (http://www. nawic. org) (NAWIC) is pleased to announce the winners of its 16th annual Crystal Vision Awards. The mission of the Crystal Vision Awards is to recognize individuals who promote, expand and encourage the role of women in the construction industry. Carolyn Clark Loder is the recipient of the Crystal Vision Award, which is awarded to a nonmember of NAWIC, and Teresa Magnus is the recipient of the Crystal Achievement Award, which is awarded to a NAWIC member.

Carolyn Clark Loder, land manager for Lafarge North America, experienced a first for women in her late teens through an internship at the United States Forest Service by being the first woman to earn a "Red Card." It turned out to be the first in a series of "firsts" in Loder's career. She is also the first woman to chair the New Mexico Mining Association's Hall of Fame and the first to be president of the California Mining Association.

Loder takes her own success and knowledge and pays it forward by mentoring women, formally and informally, to help them realize their goals. She has hired homeless women and trained them to start in administrative positions. She has mentored managers to become more than they ever thought possible. She is actively involved in Habitat for Humanity's Women Build program to help not only families but also women by teaching those skills that build their confidence.

Joining Loder in world-class efforts to advance women in the construction industry is Teresa Magnus, CPA, JD, CEO of Vulcan Industrial Contractors Co., LLC.

Magnus has also showcased her leadership and commitment to women in construction throughout her career by actively creating a level playing field for women. Most recently, her efforts can be seen in the workforce make-up of Vulcan. Over the last two years, the Vulcan workforce has come to reflect 49 percent of leadership roles being filled by women, including field supervisory positions. She has also ensured that women are included in trade apprenticeship programs, and to date, the company has realized 12 percent growth in female employees in the field.

Her commitment extends beyond Vulcan to influence the entire construction industry. Magnus is active in promoting construction careers by serving on the Shelby County Technical School Advisory Board. Her on-going contributions to Construction Users Roundtable (CURT) national committees, Insulators Union Apprentice Fund and Pension, Health and Welfare Funds as well as the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce Workforce Development Board are leaving an indelible mark on the current face of women in construction. She is also a member of the American Bar Association, American General Contractors (AGC), American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and Georgia Bar Association.

Prior to joining Vulcan, Magnus held construction industry-related positions at Southern Company, Price Waterhouse and Arthur Anderson.
Both Loder and Magnus will be added to the elite group of Crystal Vision Award winners and honored for their achievements during the 16th Annual Crystal Vision Awards Gala at NAWIC's 55th Annual Convention (http://www. nawicconvention. org) in Louisville, Ky., at 7 p. m. More than 700 members in various facets of the construction industry are expected to attend the Convention, Sept. 1-4, 2010 at The Galt House. In keeping with the goal of advancing women in the construction industry, the NAWIC National Convention affords attendees the opportunity to enhance their success by attending educational seminars, attaining certifications and networking with other women in the construction industry.

Global Service Robotics Market to Reach US$38.42 Billion by 2015, According to New Report by Global Industry Analysts

Global Service Robotics Market to Reach US$38.42 Billion by 2015, According to New Report by Global Industry Analysts

GIA announces the release of a comprehensive global report on service robotics market. Although tempered by the recent economic recession, world market for service robotics is forecast to recover poise and display healthy growth thereon to reach US$38.42 billion by 2015. Growth in market in the short to medium term will be driven by factors such as expanding application possibilities, technology development, rising value propositions, demographic shifts and ensuing labor shortages, and the rise of the new service economy.

San Jose, California (Vocus) July 12, 2010

Robotic technology has witnessed a sea change over the years, with the need to automate the workforce resulting in numerous incremental technology advancements in industrial robotics. Market maturity in industrial robotics, however, is helping re-direct development interest in service robotics, such as, field robots, logistic system robots, medical robots, home security and surveillance robots, handicap assistance robots, underwater robots, entertainment robots, construction and demolition robots, inspection and maintenance robots, defense, security and surveillance robots, and domestic robots, among others. Service robots have therefore finally started to move from shop floors to homes, offices, hospitals, museums, and other public places in many forms. Over the last decade, there has been an impressive growth in the use of service robots in professional as well as private and personal applications. Particularly the private use of robots in homes for domestic applications has witnessed significant growth.

The world market for service robotics has witnessed deceleration in growth over the last two years and the euphoric projections over the number of robots expected to proliferate human homes, offices and factories, are now being downgraded to much sober levels, thanks to the impact of the prolonged economic slowdown. Reduction in investments as a fallout of the economic crisis has severely dented the demand for robots in both commercial and mass markets. The deep reductions in disposable spends has impacted demand for entertainment robots like robot toys, and pets. However, a quick recovery and robust future potential is definitely on the cards for service robotics market, as service robots stand positioned to gain stellar prominence as a potential productivity tool in an era where most of the first-world nations transition towards a global service industry.

Expanding application possibilities continue to broaden the market for service robotics, as aging population and increasing need for assisted living creates special market opportunities for personal service robots. The transition of the world’s developed economies towards being a service economy offers ample opportunities for growth in service robots market. Given their ability to offer a technological platform for supporting the growing needs of the professional services industry and thus triggering strong economic growth in the process, service robotics is slated to witness considerable opportunities in the years to come.

Shortages and exorbitantly high cost of labor for risky jobs such as, mining, skyscraper construction, and rescue operations among others, present a perfect opportunity for service robots to replace human personnel.

As stated by the new market research report on service robotics, the professional use robots market makes up for the largest segment in the Service Robotics market, by value. On the other hand, personal use robots market represents the fastest growing segment in terms of value. Personal Use Robots is also the largest market segment in the service robotics market, by volume.

Key players dominating the global service robotics market include Electrolux Group, Fujitsu Frontech Limited, Husqvarna AB, Hanool Robotics Corp, Honda Motors Co. Ltd, Iberobotics S. L., iRobot Corporation, Intuitive Surgical Inc, LG Electronics Inc, PARO Robots U. S. Inc, RoboSoft SA, SeaRobotics Corporation, Toyota Motor Corporation, and WowWee Group Limited, among others.

The report titled “Service Robotics: A Global Market Report” announced by Global Industry Analysts, Inc., provides a comprehensive review of the industry, key market trends, issues, profiles of major players, and recent industry activity. The report provides market estimates and projections for service robotics in terms of annual dollar sales in US$ Million and Year-end operational stock volume in thousand units, for product market segments including Personal Use Robots (Domestic Robots, and Entertainment Robots), and Professional Use Robots.

How to See Every $100,000+ Job Opening in Market from Every Job Board and Employer Career Page at Once

How to See Every $100,000+ Job Opening in Market from Every Job Board and Employer Career Page at Once

A new website, 100KCrossing. com, has recently launched. 100KCrossing. com consolidates every 100K+ job opening it can find in the market from other job sites and employer websites. The site has seen massive demand from job seekers since launching.

Pasadena, CA (PRWEB) May 17, 2008

EmploymentCrossing. com (http://www. EmploymentCrossing. com) has launched a new job research site for job seekers that researches and consolidates 100K jobs, 100KCrossing. com (http://www.100KCrossing. com). 100KCrossing. com (http://www.100KCrossing. com) researches and consolidates jobs over $100K from other job sites and employer websites and puts jobs that pay over 100K on its site.

"Since 100KCrossing is taking 100k plus jobs from over 100,000 websites, we are really changing the way people look for over 100K jobs. Every other job site I am aware of charges employers and recruiters in some way to post jobs on its site and this severely limits the jobs on these sites," says A. Harrison Barnes, the CEO of 100KCrossing. com. 100KCrossing. com is a research company and does not charge employers to post job listings. We take every 100K plus job in the market and put it on 100KCrossing. com and also offer free job posting for employers and recruiters."

In addition to jobs from major job boards and recruiter jobs, 100KCrossing. com posts job openings that are not widely known or publicized--which are the easiest jobs to get because they receive fewer applications," says Harrison Barnes, founder of 100KCrossing. com. "We search websites including small regional newspapers and association websites that typically receive less traffic. 100KCrossing. com has been overwhelmed with the interest in our site since launching just a few days ago."

Virtually every job seeker in the market is finding fewer $100K+ job listings at the present time due to the economic slowdown. In addition, in a tough economy, employers are less likely to work through recruiters who often charge steep fees of up to 40% of an executives annual salary to employers who hire their candidates. Higher paid professionals must pursue other job search methods.

100KCrossing. com is a research company that works for higher paid professionals across different industries with titles such as executive, manager, team lead, director, vice presidents, net developer, programming, senior marketing manager, business management, business development manager, attorney, public relations executive, healthcare executive, chief financial officer, SAP manager, consultant, business analyst, engineer, registered nurse, and sales executive. 100KCrossing. com researches job listings paying $100K+ and actually verifies with employers that they really offer $100K or more as a starting salary for the posted positions.

"Most job seekers use job boards for their search--but most jobs are actually on employer websites and receive very few applications," Barnes says. "We highly recommend investigating 100KCrossing. com. 100KCrossing. com (http://www.100KCrossing. com) charges $29.95 a month to access our research."

'Mad Men' Actress, Britt Hysen, Crosses The Line With Addiction And Mental Illness At PRISM Awards

'Mad Men' Actress, Britt Hysen, Crosses The Line With Addiction And Mental Illness At PRISM Awards

'Mad Men' secretary, actress Britt Hysen, steps off the red carpet and onto the press line to capture the essence of the 14th annual PRISM Awards--Hollywood's top honor for accurate depiction and portrayal of addiction and mental illness.

Burbank, CA (PRWEB) June 2, 2010

When Britt Hysen (http://www. imdb. com/name/nm2761083/) was asked to bring the crew of 'Scene With Britt' (http://www. scenewithbritt. com/webisode. html) to the Beverly Hills Hotel for the 14TH annual PRISM Awards, the 21 year old 'Mad Men' actress turn webisode host/producer jumped at the opportunity to help promote the distinctive Hollywood honor. Presented by the Entertainment Industries Council (http://www. eiconline. org), the PRISMs are awarded each year to those in the creative community who best depict addiction and mental illness within their storylines, and to actors who accurately portray their character's affliction. 2010 TV nominees included Breaking Bad, Nurse Jackie, Grey's Anatomy, House, M. D., Monk, Sober House, Intervention, and Celebrity Rehab among others; and Made for TV and Feature films including Crazy Heart, The Soloist, Brothers, The Natalee Holloway Story, and Prayers for Bobby. "The Entertainment Industries Council was formed 27 years ago to bring the power of the Entertainment Industry to bear on health and social issues," declared Brian Dyak, EIC President, CEO & Co-founder. "The PRISM Awards (http://www. prismawards. com) are actually that pat on the back for the writers, the producers, the directors, and the talent that have done stories about substance abuse and mental health."

Hysen said she was all too happy to trade the red carpet and step and repeat for the noisy and chaotic press line as she documented the humanity radiating from her industry. It was a star-studded evening that combined the best of two millenniums with Gary Marshall, Larry Hagman, and Barbara Eden mixed with 'Crazy Heart' producer, Judy Cairo, 'Breaking Bad' producer, Vince Gilligan, actors, Kevin McKidd, 'Grey's Anatomy' and Pauley Perrette, 'NCIS', and reality host, Dr. Drew Pinsky, 'Celebrity Rehab'. "When you get a celebrity involved in anything, it raises the attention that much more,' proclaimed Nancy O'Dell, 'Access Hollywood' and PRISM Awards Hostess. "We know how powerful Hollywood can be because people are interested in being entertained, so why not send a message as well." Phil Wilson, President of the Black Aids Institute, commented on the significance of the PRISM Awards as it related to the creative community, "It really is about individuals taking individual initiatives…and what better way to do that than through our entertainment and storytelling."

As an actress, Hysen was most interested in how other actors perceived the PRISM Award and what it would mean to them to win one. Many compared it to receiving an Oscar in that the actor is being honored for their convincing performances. "I think it's probably one of the highest honors you can get," stated actress Shantel VanSanten, 'One Tree Hill'. It's not that--oh you did an amazing job, it's--you did the most realistic portrayal of something that we could find." Steve Wilkos, host of the Steve Wilkos Show added, "The most uplifting thing is when you can actually come into a stranger's life and make an impact." Hysen hopes to achieve similar results with her coverage of this year's awards. "The PRISMs aren't well known by the general public, and yet the award is so relevant because it's all about making a social impact," she said. "Watching films that accurately depict addiction and mental illness gives viewers relatable life challenges that they can compare with their own experiences." Hysen continued, "You have to honor the artists that do it well, and invite their audience and fans to celebrate with them."

Hysen puts a fresh spin on the PRISMs by blending information with visual effects, music, and celebrity interviews in a high energy, three minute piece. Straight from a millennial's prospective, she produces and edits each episode to fit the habits and communication devices of her generation "People my age want their information quick and streamlined. If something catches their attention, they'll pursue it further." Hysen continued, "My goal with the PRISM episode is to bring attention to the award ceremony that airs this fall. It was a great night for humanity, and fans of these films and TV series should know about it."

Dogswell®, Creators of a New Line of Healthy Dog Treats is Pleased to Announce Availability of Product Line to Patrons of Whole Foods Market®

Dogswell product line introduced to patrons of Whole Foods Market

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) December 10, 2004

Whole Foods Market® and Marco Giannini, President & Founder of Dogswell® products have reached an agreement to carry several of the Dogswell product line in Whole Foods Markets in the Southwest region. Whole Foods will carry Happy Hips® and Vitality. All Dogswell products are all made from premium, natural chicken breast with one catch – unlike many dog treats on the market, Dogswell treats come in a variety of supplements which are actually healthy for your dog. Additional treats include Happy Heart® and the newest addition to the Dogswell line, Mellow Mut® and Breathies®. Consumers from all over the country are praising the benefits of Dogswell treats!

Happy Hips which contains glucosamine hydrochloride, chondroitin sulfate and vitamin E aid in the therapy and prevention for Hip Displaysia which frequently affects mainly large breed dogs. However, these nutrients are extremely effective in helping to promote healthy joints in small, medium as well as large breed dogs.

Vitality is unique in the simple fact that while most dog foods might state on the label that they contain Vitamin A and E supplements, the simple truth is that most of these vitamins are “cooked out”, this is not the case with Vitality! Omega Cookie® Makes the Perfect Healthy, Holiday Gift

Omega Cookie® Makes the Perfect Healthy, Holiday Gift

Ambo Foods' award winning Omega Cookie makes for an innovative, healthy holiday gift. Each cookie contains as much omega-3 fish oil as a salmon dinner.

Venice, FL (PRWEB) December 4, 2010

Now that the holiday shopping frenzy has begun, two Florida doctors suggest giving the gift of good health by giving cookies.

You heard that right. Cookies.

These cookies aren’t the kind left out for Santa---the ones loaded with sugar, butter and flour. These cookies contain all good stuff -- loads of omega-3, calcium, fiber, vitamin D and are gluten-free with less sugar than an apple.

The Omega Cookie, created by Dr. Bo Martinsen and Dr. Anne-Marie Chalmers of Ambo Foods, LLC in Venice, Fla. has grabbed national attention by winning fans and awards for its innovation. Each Omega Cookie contains 2000 mg EPA/DHA--- the equivalent of eating a salmon dinner or taking seven capsules of omega-3 fish oil. The cookie holds 41 patent claims.

Omega-3, found abundantly in fatty fish like salmon and tuna is linked to preventing heart disease, lowering triglyceride levels and relieving joint pain.

Today, several cookie products on the market tout omega-3 content. However, Omega Cookie contains 20 to 80 times more omega-3 EPA/DHA than the leading omega-3 cookie or cereal contenders.

“Getting enough omega-3 fish oilis vital,” said Dr. Martinsen. “The studies showing that omega-3 can help promote cardiovascular health typically use 2000 mg of EPA/DHA every day. If you get less than that, your chance of experiencing any benefits is greatly reduced.”

“The gift of good health is priceless,” said Dr. Chalmers. “These difficult times have many of us re-evaluating what is important in life. Good health, our family and friends -- these are the things that really matter.”
Why not give your loved ones a gift they can really use -- a box of Omega Cookies that can lead to a happier, healthy body.

North Shore-LIJ Celebrates Inauguration of Florence & Robert A. Rosen Family Wellness Center

North Shore-LIJ Celebrates Inauguration of Florence & Robert A. Rosen Family Wellness Center

The center is a free behavioral health treatment program for law enforcement and military personnel and their families -- Representatives of all major branches of U. S. Military participate in official launch.

Great Neck, NY (Vocus) May 3, 2007

Enlisted personnel from all branches of the military today joined commanding officers and veterans, including those of the Iraqi and Afghanistan conflicts, to celebrate the launch of the North Shore-LIJ Health System's Florence and Robert A. Rosen Family Wellness Center for law enforcement and military personnel and their families.

Through this first-of-its-kind program, North Shore-LIJ psychiatrists and other physicians, psychologists and social workers will provide behavioral health treatment at no cost to local, state and federal law enforcement officers and their families; veterans of Iraq, Afghanistan and other veteran military personnel and their families; and members of the Reserves, Naval Militia, National Guard and Service Academies and their families. Behavioral health services will be augmented by the vast array of comprehensive medical resources available through the 15-hospital North Shore-LIJ Health System. The availability of counseling and support services for family members is one of the features that distinguish the Rosen Center.

"It is impossible to describe the tremendous emotional and physical burdens faced by our law enforcement and military personnel and their families, on a daily basis. These are the very people who risk their lives to ensure our safety," Rear Admiral Robert A. Rosen, a North Shore-LIJ Health System trustee, said at a news conference today that also included U. S. Rep. Gary Ackerman, a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and executives and physicians from the North Shore-LIJ Health System. "My family is privileged to have had the opportunity to work with the gifted physicians who staff this program. Their compassion and devotion to their work can only be matched by the bravery and spirit of our soldiers and law enforcement personnel. We thank them all, and consider it our privilege to help these great public servants in their time of need."

The Rosen Center, funded through the support of the Rosen Family Foundation and the Federal Law Enforcement Foundation chaired by Anthony Bergamo, is a "center without walls" that will provide counseling for military and law enforcement personnel and their families at a health system facility or wherever they feel comfortable receiving it.

"Because of their high-stress occupations and their frequent exposure to traumatic events, military and law enforcement personnel have unique behavioral health needs that will be addressed by specially trained staff at the Rosen Center," said psychiatrist Sandra Kaplan, MD, the program's medical director. Long-term exposure to stress, fear for a loved one's safety, prolonged separation, and a range of family and career issues are just a few of the issues that the program will address, said Lawrence Scherr, MD, academic dean emeritus and former chairman of medicine at North Shore University Hospital. Specific services include: individual and family counseling, parenting and child resilience workshops, a family resource center, medication management, and various adult lifestyle, wellness and health workshops that address such issues as alcohol, tobacco and substance abuse, weight gain or loss, and sleep disorders.

The two-day training program, held at Good Samaritan Hospital, is designed for healthcare and bereavement professionals of all levels as they seek to learn and enhance their interpersonal and interdisciplinary skills in dealing with families experiencing perinatal loss, including pregnancy loss, stillbirth and newborn death. This is a unique and valuable opportunity for healthcare and bereavement professionals to learn how to respond to families experiencing such loss.

(PRWEB) January 31, 2005

The Good Samaritan Hospital Women’s Health Center is sponsoring the RTS Bereavement Training (formerly known as the Resolve Through Sharing program) conference on March 2, 2005 and March 9, 2005, between the hours of 8:00am – 4:00pm.

Good Samaritan Hospital (GSH) has provided perinatal bereavement services to patients, families and health care providers for the past 20 years. The RTS Bereavement Training program is especially intended for nurses and health care providers working in labor and delivery units, post partum units, same day surgery, and neonatal units. The training also provides excellent insight for physicians, physician assistants, social workers, ultrasonographers, clergy and chaplains, and funeral directors.

“When a baby dies, it is a unique, lifelong parenting and bereavement experience. The loss is sudden and unexpected; families have no idea what to do or how to feel," said Pam Magi, Perinatal Bereavement Coordinator for Good Samaritan Hospital. “It is the responsibility of healthcare professionals to possess the knowledge and skills necessary to assist parents and families at time of loss. This theoretical and hands-on training program provides a tool kit of information for everyone working in the healthcare arena.”

In addition to hosting this informational conference, Good Samaritan Hospital is proud to announce it has applied to the New York State NurseÂ’s Association to register this two-day program for 15.3 contact hours, enabling nurses and other heath care practitioners to benefit even more by gaining valuable credits toward their professional certifications.

Attendees of the RTS Bereavement Training conference will learn the History of RTS and the role of Interdisciplinary Teams in dealing with perinatal loss. The coursework covers a wide array of information including how to communicate effectively and compassionately with families, the principles of grief counseling, standards of conduct for dealing with families and how men and women grieve differently. All participants will learn how to discuss the role of interdisciplinary teams with grieving families; how to choose the appropriate interventions when responding to families dealing with pregnancy loss, stillbirth or newborn death; and how to address and counsel children who have been affected by the loss.

In addition to this two-day training seminar, Good Samaritan serves as leader in perinatal medicine by providing year-round GSH Perinatal Bereavement support services in the areas of Miscarriage and Ectopic Pregnancy, Stillborn and Neonatal Death, Heartbreaking Choice, Moving forward (Subsequent Pregnancy), Grandparent/ Family/Friends, and Hope and Healing/Pediatric Loss.

The GSH Perinatal Bereavement Program sponsors community-building annual events including “Walk to Remember,” and Holiday Candle Lighting Services. A newsletter, “Hope and Healing” is written by the parents, and published once a year, providing a wonderful source of healing and comfort.

How to Register:

Attendees may register by mail, submitting their contact information (name, address, city, state, zip code, place of employment, profession/department, and telephone number) and a check payable to Good Samaritan Hospital for the registration fee ($50 for GHS employees and $125 for all other participants). Registrations should be sent to Pam Magi, RN, Bereavement Coordinator, Good Samaritan Hospital, 255 Lafayette Ave. (Route 59), Suffern, New York 10901. The registration fee includes the cost of the Bereavement Manual and breakfast on both conference days. Directions to the hospital can be found on GSHÂ’s website, www. goodsamhosp. org.

Good Samaritan Hospital is a member of Bon Secours Health System, Inc., one of the nationÂ’s leading Catholic healthcare systems. It is also part of the regional Bon Secours Charity Health System, which includes St. Anthony Community Hospital in Warwick, NY and Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis, New York.
