The Seven Decisions Guy, Andy Andrews, Talks Teamwork Against Hunger

The Seven Decisions Guy, Andy Andrews, Talks Teamwork Against Hunger

In a recent keynote to a non-profit organization in the Blue Ridge region, Andy Andrews uses his Seven Decisions to help build-up morale and encourage the fight against hunger in the U. S.

Nashville, TN (PRWEB) March 24, 2006

Andy Andrews, NYT bestselling author and noted TV personality often referred to as "The Seven Decisions Guy", spoke recently at the 2006 Hunger Relief Summit for the members of the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, and according to the Winchester Star, he opened his talk with, "It's what you do and what you don’t do. Every single thing you do matters. Every single thing you don’t do matters.”

At 19, the comedian, author, speaker, corporate entertainer, and television celebrity lost his parents and ended up homeless, before “homeless” was even a commonly used term. Andy Andrews candidly mentions a series of bad choices that brought him to the place of homelessness. “Everyone thinks I mean drugs when I say that, but I never took drugs. I mean bad decisions.”

He described his experience of going hungry and sleeping in a variety of places from underneath a pier to garages. Andrews said adults encourage children by telling them they can do anything they put their minds to, but they tell each other not to get their hopes up.

“If people prove each other’s value, a more effective team will result,” he said.

“For example, instead of thinking of a receptionist solely as the person who answers phones, that person should be recognized as the Director of First Impressions for the company.”

“We need to bring people to our way of thinking,” he said. “People should be a lot more concerned (about hunger) than they are.”

Here are some interesting facts about hunger and homelessness in our country:

Of the 288 million people in the United States, 36.3 million live in households experiencing hunger or "food insecurity without hunger," the latter meaning that, for economic reasons, parents are skipping meals so that children have enough to eat, or the family is only getting enough food into the house by using emergency food sources, or the family cannot afford an adequate, healthy diet meeting basic nutritional standards.

Overall, 11 percent of U. S. households (12.6 million households) experienced either food insecurity or hunger. (2003 data: FRAC) These statistics do not include the hungry homeless.

According to statistics from the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services, up to 600,000 men, women and children go homeless every night in the United States alone.

Children who are homeless are one of the fastest growing segments of the general homeless population as for every four homeless persons, one of them will be a child. Families with children make up 37% of people without homes.

Homelessness and poverty are tightly linked. People who are living in poverty often must choose between food, shelter and other basic needs.

Contrary to popular belief, the homeless are not lazy and dependent exclusively on public welfare. According to the National Low Income Housing Coalition, on average in the United States, a single worker earning minimum wage would have to work 87 hours each week just to pay for a 2-bedroom apartment with 30% (Federal definition of affordable housing) of his or her income. The rest would be barely sufficient to acquire other necessities such as food and clothing. In fact, up to 40% of the homeless are employed and working.

Another group singled out by homelessness is the elderly. A 1992 Urban Institute study indicated that up to 31% of homeless persons were over the age of 45 and this percentage is growing.

Andy Andrews, as one of the premiere keynote speakers in the country, stands before crowds of people from all walks of life. He has spoken to the heads of Microsoft and for church groups and non-profits, as in the case of the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. His message is inherently the same for every group. It comes down to the Seven Decisions outlined in his bestselling book, “The Traveler’s Gift”. These are not just motivational messages that are slogans to be taped to a bathroom mirror. The Seven Decisions moved him from homeless to helper of the homeless, and changed his life and the lives of all the people who apply the decisions. These are proven principles, laws, truths, that work every single time guaranteed.

1. The Buck Stops Here - Taking personal responsibility

2. Seek Wisdom - Search for understanding and discernment

3. Be a Person of Action - Being a courageous leader

4. Have a Decided Heart - Overcoming double-mindedness

5. Choose Happiness - Possessing a grateful spirit

6. Forgive others - The power of grace and mercy

7. Persist - Persevering with faith until the end

Andy Andrews ended his keynote for this organization dedicated to feeding the poor of the Blue Ridge by saying, “I don’t want you to misunderstand the reason I’m here. Don’t think I’m leaving here hoping you do great things with your life, I’m expecting it.”

Study: Oral Patch Treatment Heals Canker Sores in One Day Compared to 120 Hours for Oral Benzocaine Solution

Study: Oral Patch Treatment Heals Canker Sores in One Day Compared to 120 Hours for Oral Benzocaine Solution

A new study published in Drugs in R&D (January 2008) showed that Canker Cover, an oral patch, healed canker sores in one day -- five times faster than an oral solution benzocaine treatment. Median healing time was 24 hours for patients treated with Canker Cover, compared to 120 hours for those treated with the benzocaine formula. The patch also demonstrated superior efficacy for pain relief as well as superior tolerability. This study follows an earlier study in which similar results were observed. An animation showing Canker Cover at work is available at: http://www. quantumhealth. com/video/cc_flash_hq/Canker_Cover. html

Eugene, OR (PRWEB) January 16, 2008

A new study proves that Canker Cover heals most canker sores in just one day compared to 120 hours for a representative benzocaine based product. The study, conducted by the Hebrew University, Jerusalem, was published in The January, 2008 issue of Drugs in R&D, a peer reviewed journal. For additional details, visit www. CankerCover. com

The study evaluated the efficacy and tolerability of two topical medications for the treatment of canker sores (aphthous stomatitis), Canker Cover, an oral patch and Kanka, a benzocaine based oral solution. Benzocaine and similar acting pain-relieving ingredients are found in the majority of over-the-counter canker sore treatments.

48 patients were enrolled to the study. 7 patients left due to personal reasons. 23 patients were treated with the oral patch containing citrus oil, a carnelite mineral blend and menthol and 20 were treated with the oral solution containing benzocaine and benzoine t. i.d. The oral patch was found to be significantly more effective in terms of healing time and pain relief, and had fewer side effects.

Median healing time was 24 hours for the oral patch vs. 120 hours for the oral solution; pain levels were significantly lower among oral patch users after 12 and 24 hours; and more patients reported local side effects when using the oral solution than when using the oral patch users. 86.9% of the oral patch groups would use the treatment again, compared to 50% of the oral solution group.

There was no significant difference between the two treatments regarding overall ease of use of the treatment or patient's ability to speak one hour after application of the drug. However, 35% of the oral solution patients had difficulty swallowing saliva one hour after application, compared to 4% of the oral patch patients.

Regarding side effects, 100% of the patients using the oral solution reported having one or more side effects effect (numbing, tingling, local pain, bad taste) one hour after the application of the medication and throughout the healing process. Those adverse effects (with the exception of bad taste, which was reported by 4 oral solution patients but was not reported at all among oral patch patients) were reported only among 43.5% of the patients using the oral patch, and only one hour after treatment application. After one hour, oral patch users had no measurable side effects

Dr. Shemer concludes: "The oral patch, Canker Cover, was found to be significantly more effective and tolerable than the oral solution (Kanka) in the treatment of aphthous stomatitis."

This new study confirms similar conclusions from a previous study conducted on 248 patients and published in the Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences (93:2927-2935). In that study, the efficacy of the Canker Cover patch was compared to a similar oral patch without active ingredients. The time of healing was approximately 1 day for Canker Cover, 5 days for the plain patch and 10 days for untreated patients. The average time for pain disappearance was reduced from 134 hours for the untreated patients, to 48 hours for the group treated with plain patches, and to 5 hours in patients treated with Canker Cover. Furthermore, Canker Cover adhered to the sore sore for 8 - 12 hours providing full protection from food and drink irritation.

"The benefit to canker sore sufferers is quite clear", said Dr. Shemer. "The oral patch heals canker sores in a day, stops pain and protects the sore from food and drink irritants for 8 - 12 hours at a time."

Canker Cover™ is a tablet-like patch made from edible ingredients. It adheres to the canker sore within seconds and forms a clear, gel-like protective 'seal' that lasts 8 to 12 hours. The patch completely stops the pain, protects the sore from tongue, teeth, food, drink and other irritants, and won't come off while eating. While on, the patch releases menthol, sea salt, citrus oil and other nutrients which prevent pain and speed the healing process. For most users, a single patch is all that is needed. As an added benefit, the patch keeps breath fresh. For more details, visit www. cankercover. com.

In Summary:

Complete resolution of the canker sore occurred in a median of 24 hours; the median healing time for the benzocaine patients was 120 hours.

Pain levels were significantly lower after 12 hours and 24 hours for the Canker Cover users than
For those treated with benzocaine.

100% of the benzocaine users reported one or more minor side effects throughout their treatment; only 43% of the Canker Cover users reported side effects but they stopped within the first hour. Side effects for benzocaine included numbness, a foul taste, and dry mouth.

87% of those treated with Canker Cover would use the product again; only 50% of the benzocaine users would use it again.

35% of those treated with the oral solution had difficulty swallowing after treatment compared to 4% of Canker Cover users.

There was no significant difference between the two treatments with regard to ease and convenience of use.

Brainy Holiday Gifts: New Brain-Workout Software Sharpens, Rejuvenates the Ol' Gray Matter -- Brain Center America Bundles NeuroActive Program with Memory & Multitasking Software as Holiday Gift Set

Brainy Holiday Gifts: New Brain-Workout Software Sharpens, Rejuvenates the Ol' Gray Matter -- Brain Center America Bundles NeuroActive Program with Memory & Multitasking Software as Holiday Gift Set

Know anyone who needs a better brain? Could you use one yourself? Stephane Bergeron, M. D., chief executive officer with Brain Center America (BCA), is so confident millions of Americans are seeking sharper minds that he’s offering the company’s newly launched brain-workout software as a specially priced set, right on time for holiday gifting. From Oct. 15, 2008, until Jan. 5, 2009, BCA will offer its NeuroActive Program and Memory & Multitasking Booster software, red ribbons and all, for $99.

MIAMI (PRWEB) October 9, 2008

NeuroActive, which BCA launched this month in the United States, is a computer-based brain-training program that's differentiated from other systems on the market by its ability to exercise 16 functions throughout the entire brain. NeuroActive is based on scientific research that proves that brain-training exercises increase cognitive function by 20%, improve processing speed and memory, and sharpen the brain so that it performs as well as it did at its peak. Memory & Multitasking Booster, another vital software system, is considered the world's only software that trains the brain to simultaneously perform multiple tasks with greater ease and effectiveness. Both programs, available in English, Spanish, and French, were developed by an international team of physicians and brain specialists. Sold separately, NeuroActive retails for $95, and Memory & Multitasking retails for $69. Prior to their recent U. S. launch, both had already been helping Canadians and Europeans of all ages improve their mind-body health and quality of life.

"Brain Center America is proud to introduce NeuroActive just in time to meet consumer demand for unique, innovative holiday gifts that are not only fun and easy to use but also provide quick results and meaningful long-term health benefits for people of all ages," said Bergeron, the physician/entrepreneur who founded BCA and helped engineer the software system. "NeuroActive is the only software of its kind that provides brain stimulation for sixteen vital functions. It's also unique because it uses an advanced artificial intelligence to continuously adapt the exercises and training levels to the user's performance and generate maximum gains in very little time. Anybody can do it."

The holiday gift set combines the benefits of both programs to help users:

Sharpen 16 brain functions, including memory, processing speed, concentration, and ability to recall faces, names, and information More effectively juggle multiple tasks Keep their brains active and youthful as part of a natural, no-side-effects Alzheimer's disease-prevention strategy Secure quick, long-lasting, measurable results through 15- to 20-minute sessions performed three times per week from anywhere – including homes, offices, and fitness centers – with an easy-to-use, PC - or MAC-compatible system Scientific research proves that the brain, at all ages, has significant potential to acquire new knowledge and skills with proper training and exercise. Known as neuroplasticity, or brain plasticity, that recently discovered ability to change and map new neural pathways, stimulate new cell growth, and deliver better blood flow and oxygen to the brain is at the heart of Brain Center America's groundbreaking software systems, which aim to improve short - and long-term memory functions and speedy analysis of situations and information, as well as to enable users to regain long-lost abilities.

Northwest Couple Start World's First Med Tourism Press

Northwest Couple Start World's First Med Tourism Press

Did you know that 7 in 10 Americans have no dental coverage, and how basic medical costs are skyrocketing? A new line of med tourism books by Travel Wings of Vancouver offers fast help.

Vancouver, BC (PRWEB) July 25, 2006

"The people really needed a dental tourism guide, to help them when they go off on potentially risky trips," said Joe Wong, publisher of Travel Wings Med Tourism books.

"Yes," agreed the author of Dental Tourism: How You Can Save Thousands Of Dollars, Arielle Gabriel, "We are not beholden to commercial interests, though we are really supportive of Med Tourism basically."

Dental Tourism: How You Can Save Thousands Of Dollars was motivated by a sad story. The author Arielle Gabriel was once a young creative artist in her early twenties, away from family and home, and struck with a terrible dental problem.

She was told she might die from the pus leaking into her head, and needed thousands of dollars she did not have to attend to the problem.

Later on, when she read of medical tourism, she claims she took to the idea like a duck to water. She has much sympathy for all those Americans, 7 in 10, who have no dental coverage, and understanding of their plight. She was horrified to read of an employed USA worker who operated on himself with a pair of pliers to save on dental costs.

Both publisher Joe Wong and author Arielle Gabriel claim their loyalty is to the Health Traveler, and spell out the cautions and risks clearly as they write of Thailand, Costa Rica, Mexico, and many other countries.

The Mexico and Costa Eica adventures of full of plucky USA citizens who happily save up to 50 - 90% on both medical and cosmetic dental treatments. There are exciting price charts, colorful true life stories, and even helpful Tooth Fairy Travel tips.

JobsInNH. com and the New Hampshire Nurses Association Partner to Offer High-Tech Resources and Educational Opportunities

JobsInNH. com and the New Hampshire Nurses Association Partner to Offer High-Tech Resources and Educational Opportunities

JobsInNH. com has formed a partnership with the New Hampshire Nurses Association to better educate registered nurses how to best use the internet when searching for a job. JobsInNH. com is also offering discounts to employers who are members of NHNA.

Westbrook, ME (PRWEB) December 2, 2005

JobsInNH. com and the New Hampshire Nurses’ Association (NHNA) today announced a partnership that will synergize their efforts to create a better educated, more supported professional nurse population in New Hampshire.

Using JobsInNH. com’s marketing capabilities and its local resources, the NHNA will offer professional development opportunities for a typically underserved job seeker -- the Registered Nurse.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of registered nurses is expected to grow faster than the average for all occupations through 2012, resulting in many new nursing jobs. In fact, more new jobs are expected to be created for RNs than for any other occupation.

Through the power of the Internet, nurses will be encouraged to login to a dedicated welcome page on JobsInNH. com, set up an account, post their resume, create career agent job searches that run automatically, find jobs in the database and apply online -- all for free. The welcome page will also show how to best take advantage of the site and list upcoming educational events.

The first local partnership of its kind for NHNA, it will offer many benefits, including:

Discounts on JobsInNH. com employer subscriptions to all healthcare organizations that are, or want to become, organizational members of the NHNA.  Seminars on non-clinical, nurse management skills, such as: team leadership, human resources skills, recruiting and business management.  JobsInNH. com-sponsored regional conferences four times per year.  An easy-to-use website as a major nursing career resource.

“JobsInNH. com is proud to be working with the NHNA in this capacity,” Erin Kroll, JobsInNH. com Event and Community Marketing Representative, said. “We look forward to helping NHNA expand their membership through our combined marketing efforts, while offering new, valuable technology and resources that will help to aid and advance the professional development of New Hampshire’s nurses.”

“There’s more to offer nurses who are looking for employment than the typical barrage of recruiters seeking to fill open positions” Bob Best, NHNA’s Executive Director, said. “We hope this partnership will provide real value to nurses by teaching individuals to be savvy candidates for the jobs they really want. With JobsInNH. com and NH Nurses’ Association working together, we can help nurses know what makes an organization a great place to work, learn leadership and managerial skills, and learn how to obtain that job they’d always hoped would come their way.”

About NHNA

Founded in 1906, the New Hampshire Nurses' Association was created by six nurses who incorporated the New Hampshire Association of Graduate Nurses. NHNA will celebrate its 100th Anniversary on October 3, 2006. Today, NHNA’s work includes continuing education, membership surveys, recognition award programs, promoting nursing as a career and legislative lobbying. The work of the NHNA is managed by four commissions and eight committees that each focus on a particular aspect of nursing as well as the association. It is the only full-service professional organization representing New Hampshire's 19,000+ Registered Nurses.

Arizona Eye Surgeons Giving Away Free LASIK Surgery in Video Contest

What would you do if you didn’t have to wear eyeglasses or contacts? The Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center wants to know, and they are sponsoring a video contest to find out. The winner of the most on-line votes will receive a free LASIK laser vision correction procedure.

Phoenix, AZ (Vocus) August 25, 2010

The Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center is giving away free LASIK in Arizona (http://www. goodeyes. com/lasik. asp) to the contestant that receives the most votes for a video explaining what they would do without the need to wear eye glasses or contact lenses. The contestant must submit a video through the vision center’s website between now and September 10, 2010 to be eligible for the contest. The doctors and staff at the vision correction center say they want to encourage their contestants to be creative when filming the videos, as those patients with the most convincing, fun, and insightful videos concerning how their lives will change after LASIK surgery will be the most effective. Once the submission process is complete, the practice will then select the top five videos. Viewers are then encouraged to vote on their favorite entrant, who will receive a free LASIK procedure.

While the Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center also specializes in treating cataracts, glaucoma in Arizona (http://www. goodeyes. com/glaucoma. asp) and other eye conditions, the contest focuses on those patients who have nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism: conditions that can be significantly improved through a LASIK procedure. After choosing and announcing the top five videos on September 20, 2010, the Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center will tally the votes each video receives between September 20th and 30th, then announce the winner of the free LASIK procedure on October 4, 2010.

With the video contest for a free LASIK procedure, the doctors at the Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center say they hope to change the life of the lucky contestant by helping them reduce, and possibly even eliminate, the need for contact lenses or glasses. As a center that also specializes in retinal diseases like macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy in Arizona (http://www. goodeyes. com/diabetic-retinopathy. asp) the doctors at the Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center say they strive to provide complete eye care for every patient, while building their reputation one patient at a time.

The Acai berry is not some "magic key" to weight loss, and the acai berry diet is not an "amazing weight loss secret from the Amazon" that will cause people to lose "20 pounds in one week" as some marketing hype might lead you to believe. Ever since the acai berry diet was mentioned on Oprah crazy products and claims are popping up everywhere. Don't be duped into any of the free trials or network marketing products which are overpriced and may not deliver the results they promise. Brand new to the Australian market is RioLife Pure Dried acai berry powder in 150g jars, a product with no hidden catches.

Sydney, Australia (PRWEB) March 7, 2009

The Acai berry diet is not some "magic key" to weight loss as some marketing hype might lead you to believe, however combined with proper diet and exercise the acai berry can be an excellent food replacement, supplement, and weight loss aid. Brand new to the Australian market is RioLife Pure Dried acai berry powder in 150g jars, a product with no hidden catches. Click here for more information (http://www. riolife. com. au).

The natural combination in acai berries of antioxidants, dietary fibre, carbohydrates, essential fatty acids, amino acids, phytosterols, vitamins and minerals work together to help the function better, process food easier, and burn fat more efficiently. Let's break down how these parts of the Acai berry can aid people in reaching their perfect weight.

Boost metabolism - If breakfast is skipped, metabolism slows down to conserve the little energy left from the overnight fast, which means that the body will want to store anything consumed later in the day. Research shows that by eating a balanced and complete breakfast metabolism can be kick-started, and the likelihood of making unhealthy meal choices later in the day are reduced. It will also provide energy to help the mind and body function.

Gut healthy fibre to aid digestion and suppress appetite - A high fibre diet (approximately 30-40g per day) reduces risk of chronic disease. It is also a great way to help feel full and lose weight. Fibre acts like a sponge and soaks up sugar in foods consumed, and releases it slowly helping control blood sugar levels. It also reduces cholesterol absorption and excretion, therefore reducing blood cholesterol and heart risk. This sponge effect is satiating, increasing the sensation of being full. This results in less snacking, and a lower chance of unhealthy meal choices.

There is an online store where you can buy RioLife's acai berries, click here (http://www. riolife. com. au/buy-acai/acai-products. htm/).

Antioxidants that fight free radicals and oxidative damage - There is consistent evidence in research that diets rich in fruit, vegetables and other plant foods are associated with lower rates of obesity and damage from free radicals. This association is partly given to the high level of antioxidants in fruits and vegetables, which protect against chronic disease by decreasing free radical oxidative damage. Free radicals are a common by-product of normal metabolism and stresses to the body such as pollution, exposure to the sun, exercise, smoking and poor diet. Açaí is rich in anthocyanins, a type of phytosterol, giving it the characteristic deep purple colour. The food industry is now labeling antioxidants in food with ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity). Data from the US Department of Agriculture suggests a serving of fresh fruit and vegetables has 850-2,500 ORAC units. One 5g serving of Pure Dried Açaí will provide you with around 2,670 ORAC units!

Heart friendly nutrients - An abundance of antioxidants in fruits and vegetables protect LDL (bad cholesterol) from oxidizing, which is what forms plaque in arteries and hence artery hardening or atherosclerosis. The Açaí berry is naturally cholesterol free, low in saturated fats, and high in the unsaturated fats omega-6 and omega-9 which reduce LDL-cholesterol (bad cholesterol) levels. The Açaí berry is also richer in monounsaturated fats than polyunsaturated fats, which maintain the good HDL-cholesterol levels. A synergy of monounsaturated (healthy) fats, dietary fibre and antioxidants help the cardiovascular system and digestive tract.

Increased energy and stamina - Carbohydrates, when digested, release sugar into our blood. The measure of the extent of the sugar rise is called the Glycemic Index (GI). The lower the GI, the slower the food is digested and absorbed, producing a gradual rise in blood sugar levels. RioLife Açaí pulp has a glycemic load (GL) of 0.5. GL gives a fuller picture than GI alone, since it considers the amount of carbohydrate consumed. A GL of 10 or less is considered low, therefore helping control blood sugar levels and lowering the risk of type 2 diabetes and heart disease. Dietary fibre acts like a sponge and helps to slow down digestion, which may help prevent weight gain and therefore risk of obesity. Unlike most juices, most of Açaí's kilo joules (energy) come not from sugar, but from the good unsaturated omega-6 and omega-9 fats.

Although it's not the miracle weight loss solution that some claim, the Açaí berry contains ingredients that have been medically and scientifically proven to aid in weight loss and general nutrition.

neaclear Liquid Oxygen After Shave becomes a popular male skin care treatment.

Last week, neaclear released its liquid oxygen after shave. This long anticipated post-shaving treatment has been shown to refresh and invigorate consistently traumatized and lackluster skin. This fresh idea in after shave is light, comforting and hypoallergenic. neaclear’s after shave splash or gel for newly shaved skin has also been shown to help the skin's recovery process. Men consider this very important as they try to differentiate between the vast number of male skin care treatments available nowadays. Studies have shown that neaclear’s after shave provides relief from post-shave redness and irritation while also encouraging the healing of minor nicks and cuts. It is helpful for the trauma of both razor and electric shavers.

Patients have commented that this unique blend is both softening and moisturizing. Physicians have stated that your face and neck are left clean and soft, without irritating or drying out your skin. This formula is ideal for use in all environments and with all skin types. It is enriched with pure, natural ingredients to cleanse, moisturize and gently care for your shaved skin.

“neaclear’s after shave was one of the most anticipated treatments,” says Dr. Sam Speron, plastic surgeon and consumer advocate. “neaclear’s After Shave helps smooth skin texture, increase hydration and improve skin health. It is very commonly used in the physician or spa arena, but can also be used in the comfort of your own home!”

Key Benefits

quickly comforts skin irritated by shaving.  only after shave ground with stabilized oxygen to promote active healing.  hydrating, healing and antimicrobial aloe vera soothes instantly.  vitamin A acts as a keratinizing cell regulator, helping to improve texture and firmness while encouraging smoothness.  unisexual scent appeals to both men and women.

The media is consistently calling their skin care line “the ultimate anti-aging regimen.” Among the biggest proponents are some of the biggest names in plastic surgery and dermatology.

Caylee Anthony Case May Traumatize Local School Children

Caylee Anthony Case May Traumatize Local School Children

School Safety Partners is urging Orange County Public Schools, Florida, to address child psychiatric trauma related to the Caylee Anthony crime scene.

Englewood, CO (Vocus) December 23, 2008

School Safety Partners (http://www. schoolsafetypartners. org) is urging Orange County Public Schools, Florida, to address child psychiatric trauma related to the Caylee Anthony crime scene.

According to Dr. Sonayia Shepherd, a school safety expert with Safe Havens International (http://www. safehavensinternational. org), the school children attending Hidden Oaks Elementary School face serious mental health issues due to the fact that the remains of 2-year-old Caylee Anthony were found in a wooded area leading up to the school.

Psychiatric trauma involves the creation of emotional memories that are stored in structures deep within the brain, explains Dr. Shepherd. Even second-hand exposure to violence can be traumatic. For this reason, all children and adolescents exposed to violence or a disaster, even if only through graphic media reports, should be watched for signs of emotional distress.

Bus drivers taking children to and from Hidden Oaks Elementary School should be particularly attentive to student behavior as they pass through the woods where Caylee Anthony's body was discarded.

Also, county officials should be on the lookout for signs within the community, such as an increase in child abuse and domestic violence.

Dr. Shepherd warns that children are highly influenced by the emotional state of their caretakers. When the parents or other caretakers of a child are psychologically harmed by the events around them, their emotional state is likely to affect the psychological well-being of the child. Therefore, after a traumatic event, it is important for caretakers and teachers to present poised and calm interactions with children.

Reactions to trauma may appear immediately after the event or days and even weeks later. Loss of trust in adults and fear of the event occurring again are often common responses seen in many children and adolescents who have been exposed to traumatic events.

Dr. Shepherd suggests that handouts be sent out to parents about children and trauma, and that a Spanish translation be included because about 45% of the students attending the school are Hispanic.

The grades offered at Hidden Oaks are pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. Reactions vary according to age.

For children 5 years of age and younger, typical reactions can include a fear of being separated from the parent, crying, whimpering, screaming, immobility or aimless motion, trembling, frightened facial expressions and excessive clinging. Parents may also notice regressive behaviors, such as thumb-sucking, bedwetting, and fear of darkness. Children in this age bracket tend to be strongly affected by the parents' reactions to the traumatic event.

Children 6 to 11 years old may show extreme withdrawal, disruptive behavior, or inability to pay attention. Regressive behaviors, nightmares, sleep problems, irrational fears, irritability, refusal to attend school, outbursts of anger and fighting are also common in traumatized children of this age. Also, the child may complain of stomachaches or other bodily symptoms that have no medical basis. Schoolwork often suffers. Depression, anxiety, feelings of guilt and emotional numbing are often present as well.

Dr. Shepherd recommends that the school ensure that protocols are in place for a child who is identified as having coping problems either through writing, artwork or class discussion.

If students are able to talk about the incident, they should be allowed time to talk and share feelings. They should not be allowed to leave the classroom alone or be left unattended or unsupervised.

The goal is to get back to routines as soon as possible after students have had an opportunity to express feelings. However, students most impacted must not go home to an empty home after school. Crisis team members should be made aware of those students so arrangements may be made.

The U. S. Department of Education offers emergency funding to schools such as Hidden Oaks Elementary School that have experienced a traumatic event of such magnitude as to severely disrupt the teaching and learning environment.

Under the "School Emergency Response to Violence" program, or Project SERV, schools or school districts may apply for two types of assistance. Immediate Services grants are intended to provide short-term support shortly after a traumatic event. These are intended to quickly provide about $50,000 to restore the learning environment in a timely fashion.

Extended Services grants are intended to address the long-term recovery efforts that may be needed following a traumatic event. Extended Services grants may provide up to $250,000 for up to 18 months to help maintain safety and security in an affected school and to help students, teachers, school staff and family members recover from the event.

There is no application deadline. Applications are funded on a continuous basis.

SchoolSAFE Communications (http://www. schoolsafecom. org), provider of public safety communications for school districts, offers additional free assistance to schools that have experienced a traumatic event. Under their Interoperable Communications Pilot Program, schools receive training and undergo exercises to improve coordination with professional responders in the community when responding to school incidents. The program supports the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and the School Response Framework, which was first adopted this year in Colorado.

School Safety Partners (http://www. schoolsafetypartners. org) is an all-volunteer organization that assists in drafting and implementing model school safety legislation, and promoting long-term school safety funding through public-private partnerships. Safe Havens International (http://www. safehavensinternational. org) is a leading non-profit school safety center, providing training and resources to over 75,000 schools and response organizations around the world. School Safety Partners and Safe Havens International are not accepting donations related to Caylee Anthony or Orange County, Florida. However, they are working together to provide free assistance and resources to organizations interested in helping restore the Hidden Oaks Elementary School community.

Make Your Existing Mobile Computers "Talk" to You

Make Your Existing Mobile Computers "Talk" to You

Barcoding Inc. displays "push-to-talk" feature with mobile computers from Symbol, Intermec, and others at NRF 2007: Booth 1463

Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) January 11, 2007

Barcoding Inc., the nationally recognized leader in automated data-capture solutions, will display a new Voice-Over-IP (VoIP) technology for wireless mobile computers at next week's National Retail Federation (NRF) Show being held at The Jacob Javits Center.

The technology allows multiple devices to communicate with each other over an 802.11 wireless RF network. This eliminates the need for employees to carry voice-communication-only devices, such as walkie-talkies or phones, because their existing data collection device can perform the voice communication functions.

The software currently works on products from Symbol Technologies and is Symbol +Plus Validated. Coming soon, Barcoding will be offering this solution on Intermec, PSC, Hand Held Products (HHP), and LXE handheld devices. The software is currently cross compatible with multiple operating systems, including Pocket PC® 2003, Windows CE 4.2®, Windows Mobile 5.0®, and Windows CE 5.0® devices.

Jay Steinmetz, CEO of Barcoding Inc., says, "The ability for a user to have an unimpaired experience with voice and data on the same device makes this a truly unique application and a 'must have,' next-generation solution for enterprises deploying Windows Mobile RF/wireless terminal devices."

How it works:

There are two basic ways the push-to-talk technology can work on handheld devices: "Full-duplex" or "Half-duplex" mode.

Full-duplex mode allows both users to talk at the same time.  Half-duplex mode works like a walkie-talkie, where one person can talk and the other listens. It works very much like the popular push-to-talk phones.

An upgraded version of this application can also be purchased to setup and work with channels. This allows "one-to-many" voice conversations within that channel, similar to a conference call where everyone can talk to one another.

Benefits of push-to-talk:

Push-to-talk software brings more value to an organization.

1. Workers can communicate any time they need to without having to physically locate one another, saving both time and money.

2. The added functionality of voice leverages the investment in existing devices and lowers the total cost of ownership for inter-workplace communications.

3. Combining voice with data collection in one device reduces the overall number of hardware assets, making IT management easier.

4. Using your own wireless network can drastically reduce the cost of subscribing to cellular push-to-talk service.

5. Closed loop system keeps employees from abusing cellular phone services.

Attendees of NRF wishing to see and test out this new technology should stop by booth 1463 during this week's show at the Javits Center.

“We are delighted to once again be named the world’s top host by Netcraft and are dedicated to maintaining our current level of exceptional performance,” said Dev Chanchani, president of INetU. “It’s nice to see our strategy of overbuilding and underutilizing network capacity to deliver superior web site reliability for our clients.”

INetU was Netcraft’s most reliable host in November, responding to all but three requests. They captured the number one spot after ranking third in October 2010 and regularly appearing in Netcraft’s top-ten monthly rankings.

Netcraft’s rankings measure the response time of fifty leading hosting companies worldwide. Hosting sites are ranked primarily by the least amount of failed requests and secondarily by the shortest amount of time to connect. This gives a clear indication of network capacity and congestion.

Internet Video Outlines the Real "State Of The Union"

Internet Video Outlines the Real "State Of The Union"

President expected to deliver modest final address on Monday.

Washington, DC (Vocus) January 28, 2008

As the country prepares for the State of the Union address on Monday, a new Internet video released today by the Campaign for America’s Future reveals how President Bush broke the central promises he made in last year’s speech. While Bush touted responsible spending, health care for all, energy independence, a strong economy and political progress in Iraq, the administration actively blocked progress on all these fronts. The video asks, “What fantasy will Bush sell this year? What progress will conservatives applaud, and then conspire with Bush to obstruct?” The video is available at http://www. ourfuture. org/SOTU-truth-vp (http://www. ourfuture. org/SOTU-truth-vp).

With little time left in office and a diminishing role on the national stage, Bush’s final State of the Union address is expected to skip bold proposals and offer a timid approach to the nation’s economic and foreign policy problems.

Wave Ventiilation Offers Brand New Prescription for a Healthy Home

Wave Ventiilation Offers Brand New Prescription for a Healthy Home

Wave Home Solutions, a recognized leader in home ventilation has launched a new sophisticated ventilation unit for year round moisture control. Excess moisture in homes supports the growth of dust mites, mold, the infestation of roaches, and mice all of which produce allergens that aggravate asthma and other chronic respiratory conditions.

Denver, CO (Vocus) November 2, 2010

Wave Home Solutions, a recognized leader in home ventilation has launched a new sophisticated ventilation unit for year round moisture control. Excess moisture in homes supports the growth of dust mites, mold, the infestation of roaches, and mice all of which produce allergens that aggravate asthma and other chronic respiratory conditions.

The new unit comes with a computerized sensor system that includes a dehumidistat and dew point sensors that evaluate the ventilation and replenishment process; continually assessing the changes in relative humidity, temperature, and overall air trend patterns in the home. The Wave Ventilation unit transforms the most problematic areas of the home (basement and crawl space) where the damp, cool, stagnant air accumulates into a fresh, dry, and healthy enviornment for the family.

The World Health Organization 2009 Report states that occupants of damp or moldy buildings have up to a 75% greater risk of respiratory symptoms and asthma than occupants of buildings with better indoor air quality.” In 2009, the Surgeon General’s Issued a 'Call to Action To Promote Healthy Homes' stating that dampness and the presence of mold are … associated with asthma and other respiratory health complaints. Exposure to dampness and mold in homes is estimated to contribute to approximately 21% of current asthma cases in the United States, at an annual cost of $3.5 billion.

Facts are that over 80% of homes with basements and crawl spaces have moisture related problems that nourishes the biological growth of mold, dust mites, mildew and infestation. Musty odors are a byproduct of mold activity and are an indication of the ongoing growth of other biological contaminants that may not be detected by smell or sight. While mold spores are a natural part of our environment, exposure to them can adversely affect your health. Although you may not see mold growing in your home, spores may be taking root and thriving in moisture-rich areas such as basements and crawl spaces.

When treating the disease, the symptoms decrease; thus by reducing moisture, the biological pollutants are deprived of nourishment. The Wave Ventilation unit, a patented unit developed and marketed by Wave Home Solutions, expels moist contaminant-laden air out of the home from the lowest point (basements and crawl spaces) where there is the highest level of relative humidity and pollutants. Professionally installed, it will then replenish it with healthier, fresher and drier air. It substantially reduces the moisture levels depriving the biological contaminants of the necessary nutrients to thrive and will diminish them; thereby minimizing causes of ailments and the triggers for allergenic reactions.

Invisible to the naked eye, dust mites are the most common allergen-producing organism found in homes and live in our everyday indoor environments—in carpets, upholstered furniture, pillows and mattresses. However, in high humidity environments, they thrive and reproduce. When flourishing in these damp environments, their appetites increase, and with them, their fecal matter, the main source of dust mite allergen.

Moisture naturally permeates from the outdoors through home foundations into basements and crawl spaces. Everyday activities such as laundry, cleaning, bathing, cooking, even breathing, add to indoor moisture levels, which will saturate into a home’s structure. Relative humidity is highest at the lowest point of the house which has excess moisture, the coldest surface temperature and stagnant air, all of which contributes to a virtual picnic area for biological pollutants.

These contaminants do not stay confined in basements and crawl spaces, and closing the door to them, won’t keep them away. Airflow patterns will pull contaminants upwards into living areas, and contribute to the Sick Home Syndrome. Left untreated, these problems only get worse with time.

The new Wave Ventilation unit will reduce moisture, increase circulation and create an air exchange that will provide a drier healthier air by constantly measuring conditions and adjusting ventilation rates. It will optimize performance by ventilating at a high rate as warranted and then reduce to maintenance mode after conditions have improved. The relative humidity decreases by extracting moisture and replenishing with a warmer air mass that lowers relative humidity.

The prevalent moisture reduction solution has been an energy guzzling, high maintenance dehumidifier with performance limitations. It does not have the capacity to extract moisture from the entire basement and crawl space and it just recycles the same stale polluted air. Wave Ventilation provides both moisture and air quality control without buckets of water or filters and uses less than 40 watts. It’s sensors continuously control ventilation adjusting exhaust rates as needed without sacrificing energy costs and requires no maintenance or adjustments.

Wave Home Solutions is based in Oceanside NY, and has sold units nationally for years in residences, public housing and government properties. The range of models includes units for basements and crawl spaces. The company’s product lines consist of patented proven superior technologies for water and air quality issues that are environmentally friendly, easy and affordable.

Talisman Programs Celebrates 30 Years of Service to Children, Teens and Young Adults with Asperger’s Syndrome, ADHD and Other Special Needs

Talisman Programs Celebrates 30 Years of Service to Children, Teens and Young Adults with Asperger’s Syndrome, ADHD and Other Special Needs

Talisman Programs reflects on the past 30 years of giving youth with special needs the same opportunities for fun and learning as other youth, and looks forward to a rewarding future for its campers and their families.

Zirconia, NC (PRWEB) June 29, 2010

Talisman Programs, summer camps for young people who have learning disabilities, Attention Deficit Disorder/Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADD/ADHD), Asperger’s Syndrome and high-functioning autism, is proud to celebrate its 30-year anniversary.

Talisman Programs started in 1980 as a small, privately owned camp serving children who didn’t fit in with their peers. By 1990, the program developed an expertise in serving young people with ADD/ADHD, and over the next decade it blossomed into a haven for children with Asperger’s syndrome and related issues.

Thirty years after it opened its doors, Talisman now offers a wide variety of camps geared toward specific ages, diagnoses and interests. The different program areas include:
Academic camps  Campus-based programs  Off-campus wilderness expeditions  Young adult programs for those who want to go away to camp but are aging out of traditional camps and have different developmental needs than other young adults

Every year brings new opportunities to the campers at Talisman. This summer campers are enjoying trips to Yellowstone and Alaska as well as other adventures designed to give them the same opportunity to interact with the rest of the world as their peers, but with the extra support needed to make the experience successful for them.

In addition to continually expanding its programs, Talisman has worked tirelessly to create the best camp experience possible. It recently renovated and winterized its cabins, and ensures that nutritious meals, daily exercise and a consistent schedule keep the campers energized for each full day of fun and learning. The staff has also introduced campers to “green” living by planting a garden and harvesting some of the produce for their meals.

Another exciting development is the creation of Talisman Academy, a co-ed, year-round school for teens with Asperger’s or high-functioning autism. For over three years, Talisman has operated Southeast Journeys, a semester-length school program for teens with Asperger’s syndrome, which has grown steadily with great interest among parents. This academic program is now moving to its own spacious campus under the name Talisman Academy.

“Over the years, we’ve looked for new opportunities to make a difference in the lives of the families we serve,” said Linda Tatsapaugh, MS, the Executive Director of Talisman Programs. “Many years ago one of our programs branched off into a specialized school for boys with ADHD and learning disabilities called Stone Mountain School, and now we have the pleasure of branching out again with Talisman Academy. Given the lack of appropriate services in most schools for teens with Asperger’s, Talisman Academy will meet an important need.”

As much as Talisman is a place of growth for young people, it is also a place of growth for the staff. People who want to work with kids with special needs go to Talisman to share their passion and gain hands-on experience. Many continue on with Talisman’s camps or academic program, in some cases maintaining their employment for 10 to 20 years.

“We are so grateful for the loyalty, longevity and dedication of our staff,” said Tatsapaugh. “Many staff members grow up with us, starting as campers and returning to Talisman as counselors.”

In the coming years, Talisman will continue to develop its programs based on the latest research and best practices to give children opportunities to learn new skills outside of school in a safe, structured and fun environment.

“We are committed to growing and fine-tuning our programs so that children, teens and young adults with Asperger’s, ADHD and related issues have the same opportunities as any other child,” said Tatsapaugh.

Farmington Hills, MI (PRWEB) April 28, 2009

Feinberg Consulting-Comprehensive Elder Care Management Division offers tips for "Living Today for a Better Tomorrow," this year's theme of May's Older Americans Month as designated by U. S. Department of Human Services Administration on Aging.

"Older Americans Month is an appropriate time to evaluate the needs of older adults to improve their quality of life," said Pam Feinberg-Rivkin, president of Feinberg Consulting in Farmington Hills. "There are simple but often overlooked signs of possible problems with an elderly family member."
Use family celebrations like Mother's Day as an opportunity to pay attention to changes Observe the physical and mental differences including changes in weight, short-term memory, speech, mobility and driving safety Watch for mood swings, depression and managing medications improperly Look for the ability to handle activities of daily living including personal hygiene, eating and getting in and out of a chair

"It's really difficult and challenging to learn their needs, preferences and finances," said Feinberg-Rivkin. "So, it's important to get involved, increase support and possibly seek professional help to give them more control over their own lives."
Focus on prevention to avoid the risks of chronic disease, disability and injury Improve health habits such as exercising regularly and maintaining a healthy diet Express your concern and offer support to keep their independence Evaluate and suggest improvement to their living environment for ease of use Propose assistance in going out socially or visiting medical providers Utilize a professional to discuss confidential affairs such as money with a financial or legal advisor Obtain the tools they need to make informed decisions about existing health and long-term care options and to avoid placement in nursing homes and remain at home as long as possible

"Helping older adults live better today provides for an improved future," added Feinberg-Rivkin. "Families must work together to make beneficial decisions, show respect and preserve the dignity of elder relatives as getting old is not easy."

Feinberg Consulting is located at 29226 Orchard Lake Road, Suite 120, Farmington Hills. The firm provides case management and consulting services for catastrophic injuries, life planning, chronic disease management, developmental disabilities and elder care management in southeastern Michigan and Florida. The Comprehensive Elder Care Management Division benefits older adults who want to live independently in a safe environment, without sacrificing their dignity, respect or quality of life. Is A Doctor Strike on the Horizon?

Is A Doctor Strike on the Horizon?

Medicare rates are already set below cost. If the planned 41% cut in Medicare rates takes place, the possibility of a “doctor strike” – where physicians opt out of Medicare – becomes very real. In an effort to help both physicians and patients, one pioneering company has addressed the issues that drive up costs head on. MediBid. com empowers doctors to set prices based on free market forces and patients to purchase healthcare across state lines and international boundaries. Now patients can take control by making choices based on quality, privacy and value.

PASO ROBLES, CA (Vocus) April 1, 2010

MediBid. com (http://www. medibid. com) – The Marketplace for Medicine® – reported today that the number of physician users on the site increased exponentially since the beginning of the year, largely due to the turmoil of the healthcare reform bill. The MediBid. com portal allows physicians to connect directly to patients without limitations and empowers doctors to say “no” to government run healthcare and opt out of Medicare. With the signing of the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act by President Obama on March 30th, MediBid expects continued growth because MediBid has what the politicians missed when they wrote the bill – a real solution.

“The bill is a labyrinthinan document,” says Ralph Weber, founder and CEO of MediBid. “Despite its verbosity, the bill completely fails to address the three largest issues driving healthcare costs: the costs of treatment, the costs of frivolous lawsuits and the costs of increased utilization.”

The number of Medicare eligibles will grow by 36% to 54 million over the next 10 years. Simultaneously, this bill will reduce funding for Medicare by $500 billion by cutting doctor reimbursements 21%. The cuts to Medicare start today, then reduce rates another 20% over the next decade. The Congressional Budget Office states that this bill, when combined with the government takeover of the student loan program, will reduce the deficit by $138 billion during that time. “But at what cost?” said Weber. “More people in need, with less money to divide among them cannot result in better care. The cost of treatment should be set by the physician, not the government.”

Doctors are standing up for themselves and their patients one by one, on websites like aapsonline. org (http://www. aapsonline. org), urging others to follow suit and opt out of Medicare and other third party payer systems. Dr. Elizabeth Lee Vliet’s quote “I’ll Quit if the Healthcare Bill Stands” has been posted all over the Internet. This movement by doctors has prompted some to question if there will be a doctor strike and what would happen to the healthcare bill if there were no physicians to support it, evoking images of the exodus to Galt’s Gulch by the educated people of the nation in Ayn Rand’s, Atlas Shrugged. Their Galt’s Gulch is MediBid. com, making Ralph Weber John Galt.

“MediBid is the solution to the healthcare crisis that doctors and patients seek,” said Weber. “Patients (http://www. medibid. com/consumers) are unhappy with long waiting room times for five-minute doctor visits. They don’t want to see the PPO’s doctor, they want to see their doctor. Overworked doctors are frustrated that they are unable to provide quality care, which is why they got into medicine in the first place. Cuts to Medicare reimbursement at a time of increased need is only going to compound the problem further. By offering a solution to the healthcare crisis, a doctor strike can be prevented.”

MediBid builds a direct contract between patients and physicians (http://www. medibid. com/physicians), in a private environment where both parties agree to costs up front. “A bill that requires paid participation and levies a fine for non-compliance is going to increase utilization”, says Weber, “If I am required to buy health coverage, I’m certainly going to use it as much as possible. So will everyone else. A system that you pay for when you need it will naturally regulate use.”

MediBid tackles the issues that drive up costs head on. Using this revolutionary portal (http://www. medibid. com/aboutus), medical practitioners can set prices based on competitive market forces, contrary to the rates which are currently fixed by Medicare and insurance companies. Patients have the ability to purchase healthcare across state lines, and international boundaries. MediBid increases communication between patients and physicians, restoring the patient/physician relationship. In addition, MediBid allows patients to take control by making their own choices based on quality, privacy and value; issues not addressed by the health bill.

“Gym Bag Bible” Combines Physical Fitness and Faith, Celebrates 3rd Anniversary

“Gym Bag Bible” Combines Physical Fitness and Faith, Celebrates 3rd Anniversary.

Following the tragic Columbine High School shootings of 2001, stress and overwork finally took their toll on the 42 year-old Dr. Reverend Poos-Benson and he collapsed, falling unconscious beneath his desk just prior to a Sunday morning sermon. When he regained consciousness, Poos-Benson vowed to regain his life. He transformed himself into a fit and healthy person and committed to helping others incorporate physical fitness as part of their commitment to God. Three years later, hundreds of people have completed the “Gym Bag Bible” program.

(PRWEB) September 3, 2004

Reverend Dr. Steve Poos-Benson of Littleton, Colorado, announced the 3rd anniversary of the Gym Bag Bible program. In a way, the program originated as a result of the tragic Columbine High School shootings in 2001. Reverend Poos-Benson was a first responder, working weeks of 20 hour days sustained by caffeine and adrenaline. The physical stress finally took its toll on the 42 year-old Poos-Benson and he collapsed under the strain, falling unconscious beneath his desk just prior to a Sunday morning sermon. When he regained consciousness, Poos-Benson vowed to regain his life. He transformed himself into a fit and healthy person, gaining more strength and energy than he’d had for years. Poos-Benson describes, “I looked at my ‘before’ and ‘after’ picture and the difference was remarkable. As a minister, I wondered, what does an ‘after’ picture look like when one is transformed spiritually? The idea hit me that real personal transformation, the kind that leads people to the life of fulfillment and vision that God wants us to have, involves BOTH spiritual and physical transformation! They work together. After all, our bodies are the temple of God and our bodies are the vessel through which we serve him.”

Poos-Benson designed a program with the purpose of helping people become physically fit, and combining fitness with themes of faith, God and life. From a first class of 35, the program has grown, attracting hundreds of participants both from within the church and from outside. “Attracting people from outside of church is so exciting,” states Reverend Poos-Benson. “Not only are we bringing more people to our church, but we’re attracting people who haven’t been involved with faith for years… the context of fitness draws people who would not come to a program devoted purely to faith, and it’s exciting to see so many people slowly, carefully begin to explore faith, and then embrace it. This is truly exciting for me and for the church, but most importantly, the Gym Bag Bible program is helping people embark on the lives God wants for them.”

The objective of the program is clear – propel lives to greatness by helping people to simultaneously become physically fit and spiritually fit. The program is far from easy. Over 13 weeks, participants commit to exercise and perform spiritual exercises six days a week – a total of 1-2 hours per day. In addition, participants commit to consistently use proper nutrition. Only about half complete it, yet the group of alumni is growing steadily. Those who complete the program believe that their lives have been changed beyond their dreams. Tracey, a graduate of the Gym Bag Bible program proclaims, “After twelve weeks in the Gym Bag Bible program, I had lowered my cholesterol 50 points, lost 18 pounds, and re-found my energy. I am committed to remain a healthy, happy and peaceful me, God's Ambassador in word and deed.”

“Completing our second year of the program is so exciting, such a privilege,” exclaims the ever-enthusiastic Poos-Benson. “We’ve been able to refine the program and develop a team of coaches. We are expanding the adult education program to reach more people and help them enjoy the benefits of becoming healthy and faithful. Other churches and individuals were requesting that we package Gym Bag Bible, so we did. I hope people will try it and suggest ways to improve it further.” The program is available with a website, Leader’s Guide, DVD lessons and individual workbooks.

DealPass Gives Visitors Year-Round Savings with Grocery Coupons

DealPass Gives Visitors Year-Round Savings with Grocery Coupons

Grocery coupons available from DealPass make it easier to cut on home expenses.

Stamford, CT (PRWEB) March 15, 2006

grocery coupons (http://www. dealpass. com/Page/GroceryCoupons. aspx) is one of the smartest things to do for a budget. Food is a necessity for everyone, whether they live alone or belong to a family of five. Using grocery coupons can help reduce monthly expenses, allowing consumers to use that extra money for home projects or family vacations. DealPass. com, an online savings portal, entices visitors with easy-to-use grocery coupons that can help even the most harried shoppers start saving as soon as they join.

According to the Promotion Marketing Association (PMA) Coupon Council, 76% of the population uses coupons, and many do so not only for the money-saving factor, but also because they enjoy getting a deal just by using a coupon to buy items like laundry detergent, canned soups or boxes of pasta. The same association stated that consumers save around $3 billion every year just by using coupons.

Grocery coupons (http://www. dealpass. com/Page/GroceryCoupons. aspx) provide an excellent way to save money, if used wisely. There’s no need to cut, clip or look through stacks of circulars, since DealPass offers great grocery coupons that are just a quick click away.

DealPass (http://www. dealpass. com/) offers tips on how to get additional savings by using grocery coupons:

--Keep only the grocery coupons for the products frequently purchased or the ones necessary for a specific event. Consumers spend more money if they buy things just to use the coupon. Make a list of the necessary groceries, and print out only the coupons that are really needed.

--Make a household inventory to see what is already in the cupboard before heading to the store. The inventory will help plan the meals for the days ahead – shopping the needed items and passing the rest.

--Get creative in the kitchen. Re-use leftovers; buy inexpensive cuts of meat; use spices and dressings to “dress them up”; and try new recipes that don’t require meat but still are healthy and nutritious.

--Have specific goals for the money saved by using grocery coupons. Whether it’s a savings account, a holiday trip with the family, or a new living room set, having such goals will encourage the use of coupons and save more!

--Prepackaged food like frozen dinners and salad bags are sometimes convenient but usually more expensive, so a consumers really won’t be saving much even if they buy them using coupons. Learn to freeze portions of meals as they are prepared. Buy a head of lettuce, and have the kids prepare the salad. And make a point of buying foods that are in season; they’ll always be fresher and cheaper.

And for those who still think that time spent organizing grocery coupons isn’t worth the effort, think again. The savings quickly add up. And no matter how much a person saves, grocery coupons help ease the stress and worry over finances that sometimes burden all heads of households at some point.

DealPass invites shoppers, before heading out to the store, to spend a few moments browsing for grocery coupons.

Other exciting projects under development include Shanghai, Koh Samui, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, the Bahamas and Buenos Aires."

This year Hilton Hotels Corporation has opened three new properties in the Iberian Peninsula including the Hilton Buenevista Toledo and Hilton Valencia in Spain and the Hilton Vilamoura As Cascatas Golf Resort & Spa in Portugal. The opening of this new hotel in Portugal will bring Conrad's European portfolio to five, with other Conrad hotels located in Brussels, Istanbul and both Dublin and Kilkenny in Ireland.
