Detoxifying Diets May Offer More Health Benefits Than Weight-Loss Diets

Detoxifying Diets May Offer More Health Benefits Than Weight-Loss Diets

Health expert Dr. Ann Louise Gittleman will appear on the Access to Health Experts interview series to explain her findings that a one–day detox diet offers significant health benefits.

Asheville, NC (PRWEB) December 31, 2005

Ann Louise Gittleman PhD, CNS will appear on January 11, 2006 as a special guest on Dr. Liz Lipski’s Access to Health Experts interview series to discuss her new book, “The Fast Track ONE-DAY Detox Diet.” Dr. Gittleman will discuss her research findings that indicate that for many people a short one-day detoxification diet offers significant health benefits.

With more than 80,000 chemicals already in commercial use and one new chemical entering industry every 20 minutes, many individuals are unknowingly stockpiling up to 500 contaminants in their bodies - even newborns are testing positive for bloodstream contaminants. Gittleman’s latest book, The Fast Track ONE-DAY Detox Diet, is designed to raise awareness about the myriad of poisons that pollute the environment and how to protect your body.

During her Access to Health Experts interview Dr. Ann Louise Gittleman will provide details of her easy-to-follow program including a 7-Day Prequel consisting of special Liver-Loving and Colon-Caring foods to support the major detox organs; a one-day fast featuring a deliciously spiced miracle juice designed to stave off hunger pangs and regulate blood sugar; a 3-Day Sequel adding in probiotics to support immunity; and 3 Maintenance Approaches that offer something to every dieter out there.

Dr. Ann Louise Gittleman explains, “Your body is made to fast. It does so every night when you go to bed and then get up and break the fast, hence “breakfast.” Basically, during the one-day fast the body enters the same type of cleansing cycle that it does during sleep. Fasting allows the body a day of rest, a day to cleanse and heal. Instead of using its vital energy for digesting food, the body uses its energy for cleansing the system of accumulated toxins and healing any body part that is sick. The body consumes what is not essential to normal functioning like stored fat, bacteria, and other aged and toxic matter. Most people have reserves of thirty days before they would begin starving or breaking down vital bodily tissues.”

To attend the free Access to Health Experts interviews visit http://innovativehealing. com (http://innovativehealing. com).

Written and audio transcripts are available for purchase after the event from the Innovative Healing Book Store.

PyroFlite Bat Warmer Sleeve is Now Approved by the Amatuer Softball Association

PyroFlite Bat Warmer Sleeve is Now Approved by the Amatuer Softball Association

With fall season in full swing and the weather changing the recent Amatuer Softball Association (ASA) ruling is especially important allowing players to use the PyroFlite™ Bat Warmer Sleeve and swing like professionals.

Medina, ND (PRWEB) October 19, 2010

With the fall season here and temperatures cooling across the country means it's time to heat up that expensive softball or baseball bat with a Pyroflite Bat Warmer Sleeve. PyroFlite™, a North Dakota based manufacturer of microwaveable softball, baseball bat warmers is the world leader in sports equipment warming.

The recent ASA ruling is especially important as fall ball season has just started and temperatures start to cool in all parts of the country. ASA players can now keep their bats at the proper temperature in which they were designed to be used.

"I bought one of your bat warmers a couple of weeks ago. My daughter plays 14u fastpitch and swings a Catalyst fpc205 composite. She was keeping the bat in her equipment bag in our garage which stays about 55 degrees or so in the winter. She was hitting in a 65 degree batting cage, and getting teeth-rattling bat sting.

There is no doubt, this product removed 100% of her bat sting".... J. Pike, Kentucky

That's why Brian Knetter invented the microwavable Bat Warmer. PyroFlite™ is the pioneer and leader in bat-warming technology.

The Microwavable PyroFlite™ Bat Warmer was invented a decade ago by Knetter, who had lost countless bats to dents, dings and breaks while playing in North Dakota's cold ball season. Knetter not only saw a need to keep his high-end bats safe, but also knew it was equally important to ensure a bat worked its best.

With the Microwavable PyroFlite™ Bat Warmer, baseball and softball players can keep their summer hitting stroke during the winter months, gain greater hitting consistency and maintain the health of their bats by preventing both cracking and denting.

Knetter's easy-to-use system safely warms bats even on coldest days, and is equally helpful to those playing on baseball and softball fields from California to Florida -- and all points in between.

The Microwavable PyroFlite™ Bat Warmer also helps eliminate pain. On cold days, when a bat hits the ball, it causes severe stinging or even bone bruises, which can easily last up to six weeks and ruin a season. For a high school athlete, that could cost them a college scholarship or more.

The Microwavable PyroFlite™ Bat Warmer warms, composite, aluminum or wood bats and eliminates the sting and vibrations, thus allowing players to swing for the fence with confidence.

"The first night I took it out, players couldn't believe what they saw and felt -- a hot bat in sub 60-degree weather," said Mark Anderton, New Zealand national batting champ and catcher/pitcher for Eddie Feigner's The King and His Court four-man Fastpitch Team. "And the feeling the batter got was not one of a 'dull jarring effect' but more like what they expect from an expensive bat -- Hot with some pop."

Longer bat life is another benefit.

When temperatures drop, your bat can not flex the way it was designed to. Because of this, bat companies suggest on the bats themselves not to use them in temperatures less than 65 degrees. Dents, cracks and even dangerous breaks can occur in bats that aren't warmed to a bat manufacturer's recommended temperature. When a bat cracks or breaks, it has to be replaced, at a cost of hundreds of dollars each time.

The Microwavable PyroFlite™ Bat Warmer has been approved and endorsed by several organizations, most notably the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) and National Softball Association (NSA).

PyroFlite™ is a official partner of the USSSA.

"USSSA is looking forward to working with PyroFlite™ and helping all of our players play the best game they can regardless of the playing temperature," said USSSA Executive Director and CEO Don DeDonatis. "After looking at several products we concluded PyroFlite's Microwaveable Bat Warmer is the easiest way to keep a bat warm. It is easy to use, it's extremely affordable and provides the player an excellent method to keep their bats safe and sound."

CARL F. BUCHERER: Workhouse Publicity Is Proud To Announce Exquisite Timepieces From The Fall, 2005 Collection

CARL F. BUCHERER: Workhouse Publicity Is Proud To Announce Exquisite Timepieces From The Fall, 2005 Collection

Carl F. Bucherer: Stylish Swiss Watches since 1919 Fall Forward in Time. To schedule an appointment to view the collection please contact Workhouse Publicity publicist Alexis Bodkin 212. 645. 8006.

USA (PRWEB) September 17, 2005

Staying ahead of the curve with this year’s distinctive designs by Carl F. Bucherer. Once again the international brand proves to be at the forefront of innovative luxury by creating jewelry inspired with beauty, magnificent colors and transparency along with strength and durability. The characteristics that gemstone lovers associate with sapphires along with the glorious colors of India – the land of maharajas, fairy tales, and magicians – provide the inspiration for selecting the costly sapphires that adorn Carl F. Bucherer’s new Alacria Fancy Diva Limited Edition watch. This exclusive edition of 25 high jewelry watches is set with blue or orange sapphires. According to Indian tradition, colors are used to honor creation and can affect the fortune and health of human beings. Like music, colors make the soul sing. The Indian word for color has three different meanings: melody, feeling and dye or pigment. All three concepts are united in the Alacria Fancy Diva. With this watch, Carl F. Bucherer has created a sophisticated union of the watchmaker’s skill with the rich tradition of the jeweler’s art. The eye-catching feature of the Alacria Fancy Diva collection is its large case, which measures about 13?4by 11?4inches. This watch is like a diva on the wrist; it captivates the viewer through its sensuous and unique shape. It is a brilliant mixture of grace and opulence. What make’s the sapphire unique is not only its rarity but above all its special hardness. The valuable rough crystals are found underground in only a few places in the world, and arduous work is required to bring them to light. The crystals are then transformed into sparkling gems in a painstaking process. When cutting a sapphire, the gem cutter must bring his whole skill to bear since the gemstones are not only very hard but also contains different shades and intensities of color depending on the direction from which they are viewed. Carl F. Bucherer’s experienced designers use only stones of the highest quality for the Alacria Fancy Diva Limited Edition. The sensuous uniqueness of its shape is quite captivating.

The perfect complement to Fall’s understated fashions is the new, sophisticated Patravi Tonneaugraph Rose Gold. Setting the mark for luxury and style again this year is one of Switzerland’s most prestigious watch and jewelry manufacturers, Carl F. Bucherer. The Rose Gold Tonneaugrapgh is the first watch ever to integrate this technical sophistication. The automatic caliber CFB 1960 – with chronograph and big date – is embedded in the tonneau-shaped two part rose gold 18K case, displaying the power reserve in a quite unconventional way. The power reserve feature makes sense, especially for people who frequently change watches. At 6 o’clock position there is an arc-shaped scale with high/low display in the form of a disc, which rotates in a clockwise direction when the watch is wound up. Superimposed on this disc is a hand that also moves in the natural direction of rotation (clockwise) as the watch runs, i. e. the hand does not behave in a retrograde way. The Carl F. Bucherer Patravi Tonneaugraph is the first watch ever to integrate this technical sophistication. We cordially invite you to contact Workhouse Publicity, Alexis Bodkin by telephone 212. 645. 8006 or via email alexis@workhousepr. com for an exclusive preview of the Carl F. Bucherer collection or to schedule an interview with the Carl F. Bucherer North American principles.

Leaving the beaten track, blazing your own trail to ultimately shape your own destiny is what the Carl F. Bucherer philosophy is all about, a watch for “those who go their own way.” Carl Friedrich Bucherer presented his first watch collection in 1919 and began a watch-making heritage, which continues to this day. Renowned for their meticulous attention to detail, uncompromising quality, high technological, aesthetic standards and distinctive designs, Carl F. Bucherer maintains a rich history and it is through these values that we are reminded that the good life is in reach. Richly imagined, the Carl F. Bucherer name is synonymous with an indelible portrait of confidence. It lives with those who take charge of their lives; independent people who trust their own instincts and enjoy every moment. With these strengths and values derived from the very fabric of the family business that has been handed down over three generations, Carl F. Bucherer remains the only genuine watch brand from the heart of Switzerland. With traditional designs that look toward the future, Carl F. Bucherer consistently provides the best Swiss movements, which are both technically refined and authentic.

CARL F. BUCHERER: STYLISH SWISS TIMEPIECES SINCE 1919

Carl F. Bucherer watch collection is a stellar example of a contemporary interpretation of classic traditional design. Currently distributed in Asia, Europe, Russia and the Middle East, North America will now join these markets to compliment this truly global brand. The marketing, philosophy, vision and tradition of this independent luxury brand from Switzerland, the last one, will continue to reflect the original thinking of its founder, Carl F. Bucherer – “a watch for those who go their own way”. The official launch took place in Switzerland at this year’s Baselworld 2004. Carl Friedrich Bucherer was a pioneer, an exceptional man and a passionate entrepreneur. In 1888, a time of worldwide upheaval, he opened his first watch and jewelry shop in Lucerne. In 1919, he took the plunge and created his first watch collection. This was an instant success and laid the foundations for a brand that is renowned to this day for its inimitable style and individuality, and one that has to this day remained a healthy and independent family business. Around the turn of the last century, the Belle Époque arrived in Switzerland and Lucerne. The city boomed and prosperity increased. People were filled with a new zest for life; were optimistic and had faith in the future. And among them was Carl F. Bucherer, welcoming people from all over the world into his shop. Their diversity and the openness of the city strongly influenced his life and his work and the name of Carl F. Bucherer has since become synonymous with the city of Lucerne. The only producer of watches in the heart of Switzerland has developed into something truly special. Since then, all Carl F. Bucherer watches have had something in common - the passion, enthusiasm and meticulous attention to detail which go into every single watch made. The never-ending pursuit of perfection has never been abandoned. Today, the company is owned by Jörg G. Bucherer, the grandson of Carl Friedrich, and like his forebears, he attaches great importance to independence, continuity, energy and freedom. And in doing so, he creates distinctive watches which reflect and convey these values. In the true tradition of our founder, we make no compromise when it comes to the highest quality and the love of detail. To ensure that the only watch from the heart of Switzerland will remain unique in the future, too. For more information please visit www. carl-f-bucherer. com.

Advanced Biotherapy, Inc. Discloses Method of Use Patent Pending for Antibodies to Gamma Interferon in the Treatment of CrohnÂ’s Disease

Advanced Biotherapy, Inc. Discloses Method of Use Patent Pending for Antibodies to Gamma Interferon in the Treatment of CrohnÂ’s Disease

The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) issued U. S. Patent No. 6,333,032 to the Company for the exclusive use of IFN-g antibodies -- including humanized and fully human, as well as other antibody types -- to treat Multiple Sclerosis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis (a form of psoriasis) and Ankylosing Spondylitis.

(PRWEB) May 23, 2002

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif.--(BW HealthWire)—May 20, 2002--Advanced Biotherapy, Inc.(OTCBB: ADVB - news) announced today that it has a patent application pending for the exclusive use of any form of antibody to gamma interferon (IFN-g) for the treatment of Crohn’s Disease. As previously reported, The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) issued U. S.

Commenting on this announcement, Mr. Edmond Buccellato, President and Chief Executive Officer, stated, “This important pending patent application greatly enhances our patent portfolio which covers treatment of several autoimmune diseases, including this very devastating disease, using IFN-g antibodies.”

CrohnÂ’s disease is a form of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that may affect any part of the digestive tract. The cause is unknown, but it appears to be, in part, an autoimmune disease. IFN-g is important in the normal immune system, and its hyperproduction may help trigger autoimmune processes. Increased production of IFN-g has already been confirmed in inflammatory cells in the intestine of patients with Crohn's, and antibodies against IFN-g have been shown to be effective in an animal model of intestinal inflammation resembling CrohnÂ’s disease in humans. The disease causes inflammation and ulceration that may affect the deepest layers of the lining of the digestive tract and can cause deep ulcers and small sores called granulomas. Because it often affects various portions of the digestive tract, Crohn's disease is likely to cause vague symptoms, such as abdominal pain, fatigue, and weight loss. Children with CrohnÂ’s disease may have the same symptoms as adults. In addition, children may grow more slowly than normal and may go through puberty later than expected. It is estimated that there may be up to 1,000,000 Americans with IBD. Males and females appear to be affected equally. While Crohn's disease afflicts people of all ages, it is primarily a disease of the young. Most cases are diagnosed before age 30. Surgery becomes necessary in Crohn's disease when medication can no longer control the symptoms, or when there is an intestinal obstruction or other complication.

Statements made in this news release, other than statements of historical fact, are forward-looking statements and are subject to a number of uncertainties that could cause actual results to differ materially from the statements made, including risks associated with the success of clinical trials, the progress of research and product development programs, the regulatory approval process, competitive products, future capital requirements and the extent and breadth of the Company's patent portfolio. The foregoing discussion of the effect of the patent issued and pending involves risks and uncertainty, including the risks that third parties may be successful in challenging the patent; or that granted claims may be held invalid or interpreted differently by a court of law; or that new technologies will be developed that are superior in treating the diseases targeted by Advanced Biotherapy, Inc. See the Company's public filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission for information about risks that may affect the Company.

Mental Health America (www. mentalhealthamerica. com) and Psych Central (www. psychcentral. com) today announced a partnership that will create an online mental health information and social network. The site will feature original news and resource content. MHA is the country's oldest and largest mental health advocacy group. Psych Central was founded in 1995 by Dr. John Grohol, Psy. D. to help break down the stigma associated with finding mental health information online.

Newburyport, Mass. and Alexandria, Va. (PRWEB) June 20, 2007

Mental Health America (www. mentalhealthamerica. com), the nation's leading non-profit mental health organization, and Psych Central® (www. psychcentral. com) today announced that the two organizations are partnering to create a comprehensive online mental health social and information network. Planned for launch later this year, the partnership will create the nation's leading network to provide consumers with the most credible, trustworthy and high-quality mental health information and community on the Internet.

"With an increasing number of people turning to online resources for mental health information, there needs to be reliable content supported by established organizations," said David L. Shern, Ph. D., president and CEO of Mental Health America. "This partnership will bring quality content to a growing network of people promoting mental wellness and result in additional clarity for those who seek trusted mental health information online," said Shern.

The partnership will feature content from both organizations, including daily news articles, research briefs, book reviews, interviews with leading experts, online community forums, and more. The portal will also enable consumers to personalize content based on their needs. For example, if someone is interested in depression, he or she will be able to sign up to receive this custom content delivered daily.

"We're extremely proud to be able to partner with Mental Health America for this effort," said Dr. John M. Grohol, Psy. D., founder and publisher of Psych Central. "For more than 12 years, Psych Central has been helping to break down the stigma related to mental health issues through its online efforts. This partnership is the next step in support of that cause. Together, we'll integrate the best mental health information and help grow a community while providing new ways for people to connect with each other," said Grohol.

According to the Pew Internet & American Life Project, more than 25 percent of Internet users search for mental health information online. This increased interest along with the growing number of choices for consumers to receive mental health information, it's never been so important that sites maintain strong ethical standards and adhere to stringent privacy policies.

Psych Central has been consistently recognized as one of the top resources for mental health and psychology information online serving more than 600,000 visitors each month with more than 10,000 pages of content. The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M; http://www. worldhealth. net (http://www. worldhealth. net)) is among the fastest growing medical societies in the world today. Since its inception in 1992, the A4M has been a major force in advancing the anti-aging clinical medical specialty worldwide.

In its ongoing commitment to expand its educational and research outreach to 500,000 physicians, health practitioners, and scientists in 100 nations worldwide, the A4M has appointed two new executive officers, each of whom are recognized as accomplished physicians who have made significant and lasting contributions to the advancement of preventative medicine.

Joseph C. Maroon, M. D., joins the A4M as Senior Vice President. The appointments of Dr. Maroon and Dr. DiNubile further reinforce the A4M's international presence as the worldwide leader in the area of advanced preventative medicine."

Adds Ronald Klatz, M. D., D. O., A4M President: "The A4M's new executive officers enable us to expand our global reach and enhance our ability to serve as a conduit to physicians, scientists, and the educated public who wish to benefit from the almost daily breakthroughs in biotechnology which promise both a greater quality as well as quantity of life."

Founded in 1992, the A4M co-sponsors the world's largest scientific conferences in the area of advanced preventative medicine. The A4M conferences have achieved what to our knowledge no other medical group in history in any specialty has accomplished, growing in three years from just two international conferences to more than 30 annual international conferences around the world on all continents in 2008, many with the support of governments, ministries of health and international sports federation organizations.

Through the American Board of Anti-Aging & Regenerative Medicine (ABAARM) and the American Board of Anti-Aging Health Practitioners (ABAAHP), the A4M credentials physicians and health personnel in the anti-aging medical specialty. The Fellowship of Anti-Aging Medicine & Regenerative Medicine and The Aesthetic Anti-Aging Fellowship are A4M co-sponsored postgraduate medical education programs that provide intensive, hands-on training from experts in these fields.

Colored Eyeglasses Help Avoid Obesity

There is a new approach to losing weight and avoiding obesity. This is accomplished by wearing eyeglasses for a few hours before bedtime. It sounds far fetched, but is based on the discovery that sleep deprivation and obesity go together. The glasses allow melatonin (the sleep hormone) to flow in advance of going to bed. Sleep comes more quickly and deeply.

University Heights, OH (PRWEB) May 26, 2006

A recent large study of the relationship between sleep deprivation and obesity shows that those who sleep less than 7-9 hours a night have a higher risk of being obese. Those who sleep 4 hours have a 73% higher risk of being obese and those who sleep 6 hours have a 23% higher risk. This is according to a recent study at Columbia University.

Physicists at John Carroll University have come up with a new way to get more and better sleep. It has been known for years that the sleep hormone, melatonin is only produced by the pineal gland when the eyes are in darkness. By using artificial light in the evening before going to bed, people are depriving themselves of the thing that will help them sleep, melatonin. In 2001 it was discovered that different colors of light have different effects on the pineal gland. It is the blue component in light that causes melatonin suppression. By blocking the blue light from the eyes for a few hours before bedtime, the melatonin will begin flowing in advance of bedtime. By the time the head hits the pillow there is a generous supply and sleep comes very quickly. Sleep is also deeper and the body slows down. Even the kidneys slow down so there is less need to get up during the night. People who haven’t slept well in years report deep and restful sleep by using the glasses.

By blocking just the blue light there are plenty of other colors so one can watch television, read or work on a computer. The colors are a little strange at first but one adapts to it fairly quickly. The special glasses block only the critical wavelengths in the blue and not the rest of the spectrum. Not all blue blocking glasses have this feature. To be sure they are blocking the critical colors the glasses are checked with a spectrometer.

It will be years before clinical trials of the glasses are completed to confirm that they help people avoid obesity. There is no need to wait for the results. It took 30 years before everyone agreed that smoking causes lung cancer. Wearing glasses in the evening is not difficult or expensive and is guaranteed to help in getting a good-nights-sleep. Greater safety is one benefit. Drowsy driving is just as bad as drunk driving but much more common. Having more melatonin has been shown in both animal and human experiments to enhance good health. Glasses are available at the web site www. sleepglasses. com.

Longbow Concierge Service Attacks the Toughest Predictive Analytics Task

Longbow Concierge Service Attacks the Toughest Predictive Analytics Task

Loyalty Builders new Data Concierge (sm) service assigns experienced data technicians to help first-time Longbow users upload their transaction data and start using the application easily and quickly, without the roadblocks common in other analytics projects.

Portsmouth, NH (Vocus) March 6, 2009

Loyalty Builders (http://www. loyaltybuilders. com), a pioneer in predictive analytics, has started a new Data Concierge(sm) service designed to help first time users of its web-based Longbow (http://www. longbowdirectmarketing. com) direct marketing service get the application up and running in record time.

"The most persistent issue our clients face isn't learning to use a new application", said Mark Klein, Founder and CEO of Loyalty Builders. "It's preparing the data in their own files for upload". Independent research confirms that, industry-wide, data access and preparation take up more than 35% of the total time devoted to analytics projects.

"It's silly to let this barrier stand in the way when it's so easily solved", said Klein. "Beyond writing more documentation and expanding the FAQ file, we're assigning real people to the task", he added. "A telephone conversation may not be a high-tech solution, but it works", he said.

Each Longbow client will have a data concierge working 1-on-1 to answer client questions, give advice, and speed the upload process so that the benefits of predictive analytics begin to flow as quickly as possible. This skilled data technician will work with new clients every step of the way, using a proprietary set of tools that eliminates the problems before they occur. There is no extra charge for the data concierge service.

"Our data concierges have the experience it takes to work by phone and email with clients to get past the data issues and on to the segmentations and probabilities that drive successful campaigns", said Ian Watters, Loyalty Builders VP, Client Services.

Once data is uploaded, the actual analysis takes relatively little time, typically overnight. The process of crunching the numbers and producing reports has been almost entirely automated by Loyalty Builders over the past several years. Automation has not only speeded the process but driven costs down to the point that most companies can now afford enterprise level analytics to help them serve their customers better and generate more revenue from their customer base.

About Loyalty Builders
Loyalty Builders (www. loyaltybuilders. com) was founded in 1999 to bring new precision to the understanding of customer behavior and its application in direct marketing. Loyalty Builders' analytics help clients pinpoint which customers will buy next, what products or services they will buy, and when they will buy it. The result is increased accuracy for cross-sell and up-sell campaigns, and the ability to build early warning systems to spot potential defectors. Clients come from a variety of industries including retail, distribution, health services, financial services, transportation, technology and manufacturing. Loyalty Builder's analytics experience has now been incorporated into a new web-based software service called Longbow.

About Longbow

Livermore, CA (PRWEB) April 9, 2008

Top Grade Construction, Inc., a premier general engineering contractor, today announced that it has received the "Safe Contractor of the Year" award for impeccable performance in 2007 from The Engineering and Utility Contractors Association (EUCA). This award, coupled with the creation of a new role for Corporate Safety Director Mark Maynard, further solidifies Top Grade's position as a leader in safe practices in the construction industry.

Top Grade President and CEO Bill Gates accepted the award on behalf of his organization at EUCA's General Membership Meeting held on Thursday March 20th, 2008 in Sunol, California. "It is very exciting to have been recognized yet again for our outstanding safety record by EUCA as well as our peers in the construction industry," said Gates. "Safety is Top Grade's number one core value. It is engrained in our culture and always at the forefront of our construction activities."

This award marks the fifth time in the past eight years that Top Grade has been honored for achievement in safety by EUCA. The winners were presented with award plaques for their accomplishments in safety management and operations. Honorees are selected based on their number of recordable incidents, work days lost and a comprehensive review of their overall safety program.

During 2007, Top Grade logged more than 827,000 worker-hours, resulting in a record low 1.93 OSHA Total Recordable Incident rate, well below the national average of 5.9. The company's success rate is the direct result of an extremely comprehensive safety program that includes a dedicated safety staff, more than 50 different training programs, site-specific training, daily, weekly and monthly safety meetings, and a total commitment to safety at all levels from the President to the field laborers.

"The EUCA Safety Award program had yet another year of record applicants making the competition extremely fierce. The award winners should be very proud of their achievement," said Gary Rudy, EUCA Safety and Insurance Committee Chairman.

Additionally, Top Grade is furthering its commitment to being a leader in safe construction practices by creating a new position within the company for a Corporate Safety Director. Assuming this new role is Mark Maynard, an acknowledged industry expert in the field of safety with a tremendous breadth of experience in managing safety on a national and regional level. Prior to joining Top Grade, Maynard worked as Director of Corporate Safety and EEO Compliance for DeSilva Gates Construction, where he was instrumental in developing the seamless implementation of health and safety programs for seven different subsidiary companies. Maynard also served as Corporate Safety Director for the Walsh Group in Chicago, IL and as Regional Safety Manager for Walsh Pacific Construction in Monterey, CA. He carries an impressive list of professional credentials, including OSHA 500 Outreach Trainer, OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER Certification, OSHA 8 Hour HAZWOPER Supervisor Certification, CPR/First Aid Instructor and OSHA 10 and 30 Hour Certifications.

"As we continue to expand and vertically integrate our business, the number one priority will continue to be the safety of our employees, customers and the general public" said Brian Gates, Chief Operating Officer at Top Grade. "As part of the ongoing commitment and long-term vision of the organization, Top Grade has hired Mark as our Corporate Safety Director to strengthen existing safety programs and practices, further positioning Top Grade for future success."

Local Business Staying Power

Local Business Staying Power

Harrogate based company Signs Express has proved the recession to be no issue to them as they continue to go from strength to strength during a period which has seen many companies falter.

(PRWeb UK) March 25, 2010

Through hard work and a strong marketing focus, centre owner Charles Fitton and his team are driving forward, taking on new business and expanding their profile in the local area.

One of their fantastic new business accounts has been with the national chain of estate agents Reeds Rains, who have commissioned Signs Express to provide vehicle graphics for their entire fleet of over 25 company vehicles. These brand new graphics are an ideal advertising tool for the company, showing their corporate branding and really helping Reed Rains to stand out from their competitors.

Charles Fitton says “We have never been busier and it is great to see that our business model brings in the work even in a recession”.

This growth in business has led to the appointment of an additional member of staff who joined the team in December. This will ensure the business is able to continue to provide the tailored design service their customers have come to expect with personal service and quality products at competitive prices.

Charles Fitton started the business in 1999 and since then the business has steadily grown with ever expanding product ranges to meet exacting customer standards. The purchase of a wide plot printer some years ago allows the company to print directly onto banners, canvasses and vinyl. This ensured that there was an expanding customer base resulting in the winning of a variety of local and national contracts such as Betty’s and Taylors of Harrogate, AXA, Harrogate District Council and NYCC.

Based at Hookstone Centre on Hookstone Chase, Signs Express (Harrogate) provides all types of signage from a small health and safety sign to large built-up lettering. Their experienced designers provide signs for individual vehicles or fleets, window graphics, banners, exhibition and display products, labels and stickers and full colour graphics.

To complement the range of products, centre owner Charles has developed relationships with a number of local companies so that work can be passed on keeping work circulating within the local community.

NourishLife - In Honor of National Arthritis Month, NourishLife Announces a Public Awareness Campaign on the Benefits of Omega-3 Fish Oil to Arthritis

In order to increase awareness of the positive effects of omega-3 fish oil on arthritis, NourishLife is giving away free samples of PharmaOmega Life which has been specifically formulated to reduce inflammation associated with joint pain.

Lake Forest, IL (Vocus) May 8, 2008

In honor of National Arthritis Month, NourishLife announces a public awareness campaign highlighting the benefits of omega-3 fish oil in reducing chronic inflammation (http://www. on2url. com/app/adtrack. asp? MerchantID=122317&AdID=383114) associated with arthritis joint pain. To jumpstart their campaign, they are giving out free samples of PharmaOmega Life, a highly concentrated, purified omega-3 fish oil supplement.

According to the Arthritis Foundation, arthritis is the most common cause of disability in the United States affecting over 49 million Americans. In addition, approximately 300,000 children suffer from juvenile arthritis. Arthritis is one of many inflammatory conditions. Typically, pain medication is prescribed to sufferers, but these medications do not prevent or relieve the cause: inflammation. Omega-3 has been known to increase blood-flow, and concurrently stimulate the body to produce anti-inflammatory agents that are delivered to the joints.

"Omega-3 is nature's anti-inflammatory. In dozens of clinical trials, omega-3 has been shown to have anti-inflammatory benefits including reduced dependence on pain killers. It has also been shown to prevent damage to the joints, thereby slowing arthritis progression," said Kara Bolton, Communications Manager at NourishLife. "Odds are that the majority of people either suffer from arthritis or know someone who does, and omega-3 can provide them with a natural remedy for arthritis."

"We are determined to let people know that a simple thing like supplementing with an ultra-purified omega-3 fish oil supplement can make a big difference on arthritis inflammation," said Jason Way, VP of Customer Experience. "And that is why we are offering Free Samples of our PharmaOmega Life (http://www. on2url. com/app/adtrack. asp? MerchantID=122317&AdID=383114) which has been specially formulated for joint health. We want everyone to experience the benefits of omega-3 and take their lives back from arthritis joint pain."

Being Healthy, Feeling Young: Nutritional Website Debuts Online

Being Healthy, Feeling Young: Nutritional Website Debuts Online

Taking care of oneself should be a top priority and having good health should be a paramount concern. Recently, the health information website, LivingYoungForever. com, debuted to high acclaim and has added a new blog.

Boulder, CO (PRWEB) July 6, 2009

When it comes to health, Americans place it as a bottom tier priority. In all fairness, much of the information on how to achieve good health conflicts with one another and causes confusion among people who want to be healthy. Despite the boom in gym memberships and self-help books, obesity, Type-2 diabetes and hypertension still run rampant in this country. Seeing that people need help, Roy Austin decided to do something about it.

Austin launched www. LivingYoungForever. com in April 2009. A longtime health and fitness expert, Austin's professional knowledge is an imperative factor that sets Living Young Forever apart from lesser competitors.

"I wanted to help decipher the jargon that is associated with the medical field," began Austin. "The health and nutrition industry should have more integrity with the average person."

Taking nutritional supplements and providing access to reliable information for better health, Austin's web venture encapsulates several different elements that allow Living Young Forever to become an all encompassing website.

"Going to the site is very self-empowering," he said. "People can find out what their options are in non-medical terms.

"My main goal is to put together and create a complete view - it's just not about the products, but about the information, too. We want to make it a complete destination."

A new feature of the website is the blog (www. LivingYoungForeverBlog. com) that debuted recently.

"This is a work-in-progress. The research and information that we provide should simultaneously keep up with the high quality products that are introduced," Austin explained.

The blog also has tips on eating better and how to maintain good health through a substantial diet.

"Our hope is to have people have a site and a plan that they can trust," Austin said. "We provide the highest quality products, which are backed by scientific studies, and they are there to help people and not just sell to them.

"We are encouraging optimal health through products and information that will complement a healthy lifestyle."

Americas Watchdog Wants to Know if Consumers, HMO's or Health Insurance Company's were Overcharged with Drugs like Vioxx or Trasylol by Big Drug Companies

Americas Watchdog Wants to Know if Consumers, HMO's or Health Insurance Company's were Overcharged with Drugs like Vioxx or Trasylol by Big Drug Companies

Americas Watchdog has launched a national investigation into seeing if a consumers, HMO's, health insurance company, or health cooperatives were over charged with the drug called Vioxx, Trasylol or any other drugs, when much cheaper alternatives were available. According to the group, "We are out to protect consumers, HMO's, health insurance companies & health care cooperatives from being gouged by big pharmaceutical companies. We think Vioxx & Trasylol will turn out to be a perfect examples." Consumers, HMO executives, health care insurance executives or individuals with specific information should feel welcome to call Americas Watchdog anytime at 866-714-6466.

Washington, DC (PRWEB) May 19, 2008

The nationally renown consumer group Americas Watchdog and its US Drug Watchdog are warning big pharmaceutical companies about soaking consumers, HMO's, health insurance companies and heath cooperatives with excessive fees on drugs like Vioxx, Trasylol or any other drug. According to Americas Watchdog, "We are out to protect consumers, HMO's, health insurance companies & health care cooperatives from being gouged by big pharmaceutical companies. We think Vioxx & Trasylol will turn out to be a perfect examples."

As follow:
As documented in the New York Times and numerous other publications, the drug called Vioxx, caused heart attacks, strokes and even deaths. Were patients, HMO's, Health Insurance Companies, labor unions, health plans over charged when patients were given this drug? According to Americas Watchdog, "Yes and we want to hear from them." In the case of Trasylol, the drug has been linked to up to 22,000 US deaths, and kidney failure in patients undergoing open heart surgery's and hip replacement surgery, according to the news program 60 Minutes. Trasylol cost over $1000 per dose, even though generics, with no side affects were available for $7.00. Americas Watchdog wants to talk to victims, family members of victims, HMO executives, health insurance executives, private health insurance groups or anyone who has experience with this drug. Note: With respect to Trasylol, Americas Watchdog has an ongoing national investigation and the group wants to hear from any victim or potential victim of this drug. According to Americas Watchdog, "We think there are thousands of US citizens who were given Trasylol for a open heart surgery or hip replacement surgery and now they are either dead, or they have suffered kidney failure, and the victim or their family never knew that this drug could be lethal. Physicians may have received a kick back for prescribing this drug, and the hospital had to kook the other way in order to maintain the doctors business." Anyone exposed to the drug called Trasylol should call the group immediately at 866-714-6466. The US Drug Watchdog's web site is located at http://USDrugWatchdog. com (http://USDrugWatchdog. com).

In the case of Trasylol, Americas Watchdog is convinced the patients, HMO's, health insurance companies, health insurance cooperatives and organized labor drug prescription drug programs got stuck with a bill for an ineffective drug, that actually increased the chances of a heart attack or stroke, kidney failure, and the group would like to help the various insurance companies, organizations or consumers get their money back.

If a HMO, health care insurance company, a health care cooperative, a labor union or a consumer think they might have been over billed or gouged with excessive costs associated with the drug Vioxx, Trasylol or any other drug, they should call Americas at 866-714-6466 or visit the web site at http://USDrugWatchdog. com (http://USDrugWatchdog. com).

Americas Watchdog & its US Drug Watchdog are all about consumer protection, protection of third party payers, and corporate responsibility on the part of drug manufacturers.

FDA Plans to Sack OTC Skin-Bleaching Creams: Cosmeceuticals Could Be Next

FDA Plans to Sack OTC Skin-Bleaching Creams: Cosmeceuticals Could Be Next

Based on overwhelming evidence of its consumer health risks, the FDA is considering reversing the monograph for the popular over-the-counter skin lightening ingredient hydroquinone. Could this latest ingredient re-evaluation just be the beginning of an industry war between pharmaceutical and cosmeceutical manufactures?

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) September 10, 2006

Browse through the skin care aisle of any drug store and you are certain to find a quaint collection of fade creams. For decades, such creams have served men and women seeking an affordable, though lengthy, way to remove age spots and skin discolorations. But now, the active ingredient of most skin lightening agents, hydroquinone, is under the critical eye of the FDA.

For years hydroquinone has been banned from cosmetics in countries like Japan due to the ingredient’s potential carcinogenic effects. Here in the US, the Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA) was charged determining if hydroquinone is indeed safe for human consumption.

However the CHPA has not produced any protocols to allow the FDA to effectively assess the safeness of hydroquinone. Due to this absence of information, the FDA acted on data from hydroquinone studies conducted by agencies like the National Toxicology Program (NTP) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Using such data, FDA now reports that hydroquinone is carcinogenic, possibly teratogenic, and can cause ochronosis, a skin condition where the skin becomes darker, thicker, and exhibits dome-shaped tiny bumps and grayish-brown spots.

According to an August 29 report in the Federal Register, the FDA is now considering withdrawing its initial monograph for hydroquinone after finding that this skin lightening agent is no longer safe or effective for consumer use.

Naweko San-Joyz, who serves as chief product formulator for San Diego based image consulting company Noixia, views this latest monograph re-evaluation by the FDA as an industry-war induced trend.

San-Joyz remarked, “This is just the beginning of a watchdog trend that cosmetic companies should expect more of. This is not only because of consumer health issues, but because cosmetics are rampantly entering the territory of pharmaceutical companies with cosmeceuticals”.

Cosmeceuticals are skin enhancing cosmetics with drug-like effects.

While the FDA does not acknowledge the term “cosmeceuticals”, it does make a clear distinction between a drug and a cosmetic. Drugs affect the structure of the human body and treat disease and are approved by the FDA. Cosmetics are not FDA approved and cannot evince drug-like effects.

In the future makers of skin lightening products may need to apply for a New Drug Application (NDA) with the FDA and certainly remove hydroquinone from their ingredients list. San-Joyz adds that cosmetics companies can save themselves a lot of FDA grievances by, “instituting their own product safety standards”.

Regardless of their precautions, perhaps more cosmetic companies may need to familiarize themselves with the NDA process if their products continue to smear the line between drugs and cosmetics.

J&B Software Helps Idaho State Tax Commission Recover More Than $750,000 in Deficient Taxes

J&B Software Helps Idaho State Tax Commission Recover More Than $750,000 in Deficient Taxes

Intelligent Document Recognition Technology Improves Efficiency and Increases Revenue with Rapid Return on Investment

Blue Bell, PA (PRWEB) August 2, 2010

J&B Software (http://www. jbsoftware. com/), a premier provider of enterprise-wide transaction and payment solutions, has helped the Idaho State Tax Commission (ISTC) recover more than $750,000 in deficient taxes over the past two years. The underpayments were discovered by comparing and analyzing tax filing data, filed electronically and through paper returns. J&B's Intelligent Document Recognition (http://www. jbsoftware. com/primary-solutions/intelligent-document-recognition. php) (IDR) solution was used to capture the data from individual tax returns and the employer wage and withholding information.

Generally, these tax deficiencies fall into one of three categories. The most familiar is when individuals, perhaps as part of a larger, organized effort, submit falsified W-2s that claim withholdings higher than what employers actually take from their paychecks. Or sometimes companies will under-report to the government the withholdings shown on their employees' W-2s in an attempt to pocket the difference. In other cases, "phantom" employers withhold taxes from paychecks, but never register their business or pay any withholdings to the government. In all of these cases, the perpetrators are taking advantage of the difficulty governments have in effectively reconciling the employee and employer W-2s submitted on paper.

J&B's public sector solutions (http://www. jbsoftware. com/industry-packages/public-sector. php) leverage IDR technology to quickly and automatically capture, classify and recognize documents such as tax returns, W-2s, 1099s, schedules and correspondence. Once J&B's solution captures and recognizes a document, it extracts data elements, associates the remittance with its related line-item detail and balances the transaction. As a result, the ISTC is experiencing improved availability of funds, lower operational and deposit costs, reduced errors and minimized fraud risk.

"As states continue to battle a challenging economic climate, efficient tax and revenue processing is critical," said Doreen Warren, division administrator, Idaho State Tax Commission. "Better matching of W-2s and tax filings is an efficient way to generate more revenue without raising taxes or otherwise burdening citizens. This project's return on investment has exceeded our expectations."

The ability to match withholding information from an employee income tax return to the employer wage and withholding information submitted by employers is long overdue. The Internal Revenue Service and the Social Security Administration do not have an approved plan for consolidated electronic reporting of wage and withholding information at the state level. Traditionally, this forced states to choose between doing nothing or to conduct arduous, costly, time-consuming manual sorting and data entry activities.

"Governments around the world are looking for ways to increase efficiency, lower costs and realize untapped revenues," said Jim McShea, the chief revenue officer for J&B Software and its parent company, 3i Infotech, North America. "We're helping them meet those objectives with a full suite of products and services that streamline and automate processes that have traditionally been inefficient and labor-intensive."

In a related development, J&B was named the most commonly identified application software in the recently completed 2010 Government Payments and Document Automation Benchmarking Study (http://www. tawpi. org/research/government-processing-study. aspx), a collaborative effort between TAWPI (The Association for Work Process Improvement), IAPP (International Accounts Payable Professionals), FTA (Federation of Tax Administrators) and corporate sponsors.

Additionally, J&B is exhibiting at the 2010 FTA Technology Conference and Exhibition, which is being held through Wednesday at the Grand Hyatt Buckhead in Atlanta. The event focuses on technologies that enable improvements in tax administration. Laurie Hunter-Manning, a J&B account executive, will join representatives of ibml and Fairfax Imaging for an interactive roundtable discussion on payments and document automation technology trends in the government space. The August 3 panel will also focus on the results of the aforementioned 2010 Government Payments and Document Automation Benchmarking Study.

About J&B Software

BioCosmetic Center Cites Study Indicating that Higher Percentages of Young Adults Approve of Cosmetic Procedures

BioCosmetic Center Cites Study Indicating that Higher Percentages of Young Adults Approve of Cosmetic Procedures

BioCosmetic Center cites study indicating that higher percentages of young adults approve of cosmetic procedures. Increased general approval of cosmetic procedures could be due to increased availability of services, decreased liposuction costs and increased effectiveness through the use of advanced laser technologies.

Phoenix, AZ (Vocus) June 5, 2010

BioCosmetic Center (http://www. biocosmeticcenter. com) cites study indicating that higher percentages of young adults approve of cosmetic procedures (http://www. biocosmeticcenter. com/health-news/cosmetic-procedures/). The study was commissioned by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and was conducted by the independent research firm Synovate. According to the study, men and women aged 18-24 had the highest approval rating for cosmetic procedures.

Eric Jantze of BioCosmetic Center said, “We have patients of all ages coming in looking for a wide variety of cosmetic procedures. Some begin the conversation asking about liposuction (http://www. biocosmeticcenter. com/liposuction. php) costs. Others begin the conversation asking about average weight loss using the BioCosmetic Center program. Others start off the conversation saying they want to feel better about themselves and they want a professional opinion on cosmetic procedures that would enhance their physical appearance.”

Other findings offered by the study included:

1. Men and women are less “embarrassed” by cosmetic enhancement than in years past. 78% of women said they would not be embarrassed if others knew they had cosmetic procedures done and 79% of men said they wouldn’t be embarrassed.
2. 32% of all women said they would consider cosmetic procedures while 20% of men said the same thing.
3. Men and women with children living in their household were more likely to consider cosmetic procedures than those who did not have children living in their household.
4. 56% of women said they “approve” of cosmetic procedures compared to 57% of men.

Increased approval from the general public could be due to a variety of reasons. The most obvious in today’s cosmetic industry are: increased availability, decreased invasiveness of cosmetic procedure, lower liposuction costs, recent laser technology advancements, increased effectiveness of procedures, etc.

BioCosmetic Center offers all inclusive, personalized programs to aid individuals in obtaining their physical goals. Programs can include any of the following: acne scar removal, liposuction, Botox, weight loss, scar removal, bio-identical hormones, dermal fillers, and more.

Intervention Company Comments on the Recent death of Michael Jackson

Intervention Company Comments on the Recent death of Michael Jackson

Intervention Services and Technologies, Inc. Founder explains his opinion as to the real reason for Michael Jackson’s death

Lowell, IN (PRWEB) September 16, 2009

Intervention Services and Technologies, Inc, a nationwide drug and alcohol intervention service provider located just 20 miles away from the birthplace of Michael Jackson, has released a statement in regards to the recent death of the pop idol.

Says the founder, David S. Lee:

“Many people are now asking the question ‘why is Michael Jackson dead?’ Many are quick to blame the doctors, his associates or even the celebrity lifestyle. However, it is important to understand the real reason that Michael Jackson is gone.

I have personally seen the worst of what can happen when people decide to wait. We speak with hundreds of family members each month and the story is usually the same. ‘Our loved one is addicted to drugs and won’t stop. How can we help him? How can we save him?’ Interestingly enough, almost 90% of people who are addicted to drugs or alcohol and have an intervention performed on them willingly agree to treatment. However less than 10% of families that we speak to decide to conduct an intervention. They have the concern, the need and the means for an intervention…and yet they wait. The question is why.

There are often many people that surround someone addicted to drugs. Sometimes there is a mother who feels the guilt that maybe somehow they are responsible, or a sibling who cares but is tired of the problem, maybe a father who wants to fix the problem themselves. Everyone wants the problem to go away, but few are on the same page as to how to go about it. They are stuck between hope and fear. Stuck between the false hope that maybe tomorrow things will change and the fear that if they push the issue maybe they will lose the tenuous connection they have with their loved one. They are unwilling to temporarily hurt their loved one in order to help them. Again, the question is why do they not conduct an intervention?

In order to understand the answer to these questions, we must first understand the substance abuser. Often times we focus on the substances as the problem. If only they would quit using drugs their problems would go away, we think. But, in actuality, the substances are but a symptom of an underlying problem. To understand the underlying problem, we need to reframe addiction. A substance abuser isn’t addicted to substances so much as he as addicted to seeking pleasure and avoiding uncomfortable feelings, things and situations. The substances are just one of many means to accomplish this. He tells himself and others he is going to quit using tomorrow to feel better today. He puts the uncomfortable pile of bills in the ‘I’ll pay them later’ pile, or has someone else deal with them instead. He draws into his life people that won’t confront him so harshly. He finds a doctor that will give him the ‘medicine’ that he needs. He shifts the blame onto others. He drinks or uses drugs. It becomes a life consumed with ‘What can I say or do to feel better right now?’

In addition to developing unhealthy skills to make uncomfortable feelings go away, a substance abuser will, over time, create a system around him that is an extension of his addiction...this addiction of comfort. He will change those that are closest to him to best serve his addiction, and those that won’t enable, he pushes away.

Our heart goes out to the Jackson family, for now comes the process of reflection and grief. Why didn’t we do something? Who is to blame? Why did this happen?

Why do over 90% of substance abusers that we intervene on willingly agree to go to treatment, and yet less than 10% of families decide to do an intervention?

Because the addict has taught them and those around him not to intervene.”

A Breakthrough For Second Leading Killer of Children Under Five – A Medical Food* for Acute Diarrhea

A Breakthrough For Second Leading Killer of Children Under Five – A Medical Food* for Acute Diarrhea

The results of a recent study show that adding Lactiva and Lysomin to oral rehydration solution helps to reduce the duration and recurrence of acute diarrhea in children.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) May 1, 2006

A new study showed that two proteins, Lactiva (recombinant human lactoferrin) and Lysomin (recombinant human lysozyme), helped to reduce the duration of acute diarrhea. Researchers also reported that the children who consumed Lactiva and Lysomin were less likely to suffer a recurrence of their diarrhea. Lactoferrin and Lysozyme are proteins naturally found in mother’s milk that are being developed by Ventria Bioscience as Lactiva and Lysomin.

The presentation titled “Efficacy of a rice-based ORS containing recombinant human lactoferrin and lysozyme in Peruvian children with acute diarrhea” was presented by Nelly Zavaleta, MD (Pediatrics) at the Pediatric Academic Societies meeting in San Francisco.

“What current oral rehydration solutions don’t have is a clear impact on cutting the duration or reducing the severity of acute diarrhea” said Nelly Zaveleta, M. D. “Our study found that adding Lactiva and Lysomin to the oral rehydration solution significantly reduced the duration of diarrhea and also reduced the rate of recurrence”.

“Acute diarrhea is the number-two infectious killer of children under the age of five”, said Delia Bethell, Ph. D., Vice President of Clinical Development, Ventria Bioscience. “We know that breast-fed children have a much lower incidence of diarrhea and other infections. So we worked with the Instituto Especializado de Salud del Niño (Children’s Hospital) and the Instituto de Investigación Nutricional (Nutrition Research Institute) in Lima, Peru as well as University of California, Davis to study the effects of adding Lactiva and Lysomin to oral rehydration solution”.

The clinical study was prospective, randomized and blinded, and evaluated 140 children who were admitted to the hospital suffering from acute diarrhea. Results showed that children who consumed oral rehydration solution with Lactiva and Lysomin (Lactiva/Lysomin ORS):

Had 30% shorter duration of diarrhea. Specifically, children consuming Lactiva/Lysomin ORS were sick for 3.67 days on average, as compared to 5.21 days for children receiving ORS without Lactiva and Lysomin.

Reached complete resolution of their diarrhea with much higher frequency than children receiving ORS without Lactiva and Lysomin. 85.1 percent of children who consumed Lactiva/Lysomin ORS recovered, while only 69.2 percent of the control group recovered.

Were less likely to relapse into another episode of diarrhea. The percentage of children who relapsed after 48 hours without diarrhea was lower in the Lactiva/Lysomin ORS group than in the control group without Lactiva and Lysomin (8.5 percent compared to 18.7 percent).

Dr. William Greenough III, Professor of Medicine at Johns Hopkins University and a world-renowned expert in pediatric and geriatric diarrhea said “I am hoping that these might be the first improvements that would be widely added to oral hydration solutions, which are consumed by at least half of the world’s children”.

“Ventria believes that the addition of Lactiva and Lysomin to oral rehydration solutions may help improve the health of children suffering from diarrhea. This is especially important for children who are not currently breastfeeding,” said Scott Deeter, President and CEO, Ventria Bioscience.
