Inc. Magazine Unveils its Fourth Annual Exclusive List of America’s Fastest-Growing Private Companies – the Inc. 5000

Parature Ranks 1460 on the 2010 Inc. 5000 with Explosive Sales Growth of 197%

Vienna, VA (Vocus) August 26, 2010

Parature, a global leader in on-demand customer service software (http://www. parature. com/customer-service-software. aspx), announced today that Inc. magazine ranked Parature No. 1460 on its fourth annual Inc. 5000, an exclusive ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies. The list represents the most comprehensive look at the most important segment of the economy – America’s independent-minded entrepreneurs. Parature also ranked No. 99 in the software industry category.

“The leaders of the companies on this year’s Inc. 5000 have figured out how to grow their businesses during the longest recession since the Great Depression,” said Inc. president Bob LaPointe. “The 2010 Inc. 5000 showcases a particularly hardy group of entrepreneurs.”

Parature (http://www. parature. com/default. aspx) enables any organization to fundamentally change the way they support their customers through its Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) delivery and integrated, intuitive design that empowers organizations to better and more efficiently serve, support, engage with and retain customers in today’s Web world. Parature software increases efficiency across entire organizations, improving processes among customer support, operations, development and sales.

“Parature is proud to be included in the fourth annual list of the Inc. 5000 fastest-growing private businesses in the nation,” stated Parature CEO, Tim Davenport (http://www. parature. com/team_TimDavenport. aspx). “Parature has achieved extraordinary growth and we attribute that to the expansive market we serve, delivering innovative products to both a technologically and socially savvy market and the visionary customers we support. To be one of twenty-seven software companies in the Mid Atlantic region to make the list is an outstanding accomplishment, considering the number of successful software companies in this technological corridor and the turbulent economic times. Parature will continue to set the standard for service teams worldwide by providing the smartest, most efficient way for organizations to serve and support their customers.”

The 2010 Inc. 5000, unveiled today on Inc. com, serves as a unique illustration of the profound changes taking place in the U. S. economy. The Government Services sector showed the biggest gain in terms of the number of companies on the list, up 33 percent from last year to 335 companies. Government Services was also the second-fastest-growing sector in terms of median revenue growth, posting a 202 percent gain over the 2006-2009 measuring period. More than half of these companies are based in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D. C. The fastest-growing sector by median revenue growth was Real Estate, now just a tiny group of 38 young, small companies, which showed 231 percent median growth over the period. (There were 121 Real Estate firms on the inaugural Inc. 5000 in 2007.) Business Products & Services is the top industry by number of companies on the list (640) and total revenue ($80.7 billion), while Health is the biggest by total employment (287,726 jobs).

Despite the fact that most of this year’s measuring period of 2006-2009 took place during the latest recession, aggregate revenue among the companies on the list actually increased to $321.6 billion, up more than 50 percent from last year. The effects of the recession are seen, however, in the median three-year growth rate, which dropped to 96 percent from last year’s 126 percent. This year’s Inc. 5000 employ a record 1.4 million people, up from one million on last year’s list. With unemployment remaining stubbornly high, policymakers and business leaders will do well to look to the Inc. 5000 companies for fresh ideas on achieving growth and creating jobs.

Complete results of the Inc. 5000, including company profiles and an interactive database that can be sorted by industry, region, and other criteria, can be found on http://www. inc. com/5000 (http://www. inc. com/5000).

Methodology
The 2010 Inc. 500|5000 is ranked according to percentage revenue growth when comparing 2006 to 2009. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by June 30, 2006. Additionally, they had to be based in the United States, privately held, for profit, and independent—not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies—as of December 31, 2009. (Since then, a number of companies on the list have gone public or been acquired.) The minimum revenue required for 2006 is $80,000; the minimum for 2009 is $2 million. As always, Inc. reserves the right to decline applicants for subjective reasons. The top 10 percent of companies on the list constitute the Inc. 500, now in its 29th year.

Global Industrial Robotics Market to Reach 143 Thousand Units by 2015, According to New Report by Global Industry Analysts, Inc

Global Industrial Robotics Market to Reach 143 Thousand Units by 2015, According to New Report by Global Industry Analysts, Inc.

GIA announces the release of a comprehensive global report on Industrial Robotics market. Although the prolonged severity of the economic slowdown and depressed key end-use sectors have elicited decline in volume sales for industrial robotics, the market is nevertheless expected to recover poise in the short to medium term period and register 143 thousand units in sales by 2015. Primary factors fingered to drive this growth include expanding application possibilities, technology developments, rising value propositions, demographic shifts and ensuing labor shortages. Increased adoption of industrial robotics in developing countries, especially Asia-pacific, also augurs well for the market.

San Jose, CA (Vocus/PRWEB) January 10, 2011

Global industrial robotics market hit a speed breaker during the period 2008 and 2009, as reduced manufacturing activities and declines in industrial production temporarily derailed the immediate need and requirement for new industrial robotic products and equipment. Low levels of economic activity has exerted a disproportionate impact on industrial production as a result of reduced manufacturing/engineering activities, which resulted in softening demand for industrial robots One of the causalities of the recession has been the capital goods sector, which received the hardest blow from the financial hardships inflicted by the downturn. And given the widespread diffusion of industrial robots, especially assembly line robots, robot investments in large companies are already a part of the capital structure thus bringing industrial robots directly under the yoke of recession induced capital rationalization process.

Given the high-strung sensitivity of robotics industry to the health of automotive, consumer goods, semi-conductor & electronics and rubber & plastic industries, the recent decline in new purchase orders for robot installations comes as no surprise. With most key end-use sectors collapsing like a pack of cards, the industrial robotics market witnessed broad based declines in sales, over the last two years. The beleaguered automotive industry, one of the largest end-user sectors, especially played an instrumental role in dragging down growth of industrial robotics. Massive declines in new vehicle sales, continuous trimming of auto plant production capacities, plant closures, capacity idling, and reduction in automobile output, resulted in reducing the number of robotic machinery orders from the automotive industry. However, this deterioration in growth has been largely temporary and the recession has not endangered the economic fundamentals of industrial robotics, which continues to remain firmly rooted in advantages of manufacturing, production and labor cost efficiency. The fact is mirrored by the market’s sharp recovery staged in the year 2010.

Key reasons fingered for the quick resurgence in spending on robotic automation is the accumulation of postponed and deferred orders, and re-investment of manufacturers in plant renovation, and modernization, and capacity expansions. Additionally, also emerging clear over the post recession horizon is the new age of thrift, wherein the prolonged financial hardships continue to chisel the emergence of post recession cost wary end-users keen on exercising renewed focus on long-term cost savings, and benefits. This trend therefore has and will continue to witness manufacturers reevaluate investment priorities on technologies/products that help improve efficiency and reduce costs, thus benefiting the market for industrial robotics.

Revival in automotive sector, which is a major end-use market for industrial robotics, bodes well for the future of the market, as a resurgence in consumer demand for new cars, will surely encourage automotive manufacturers to adopt robots for helping them bring out more number of new car models in less time, and also be competitive in the market by ensuring sustainable production processes and sustainable products. Advantages of automation, which hitherto was focused on and reaped by the automobile industry, will now witness other industrial sectors, such as, plastics & rubber and food and beverage handling and processing, wax in popularity as lucrative end-users of robotics on par with the automotive industry. Emerging areas such as high-volume toy manufacturing, medical and healthcare industries will create substantial demand for industrial robots over the next few years.

Additionally, new product developments, for instance the new-age industrial robots, which act as independent systems, capable of utilizing their artificial reasoning skills in performing a range of tasks independently, will drive increased adoption of industrial robots in the post recession era. Technological advancements in the field of machine vision, and distribution motion control also augur well for the future of this market. Demographic trends, such as aging population and declining birth rates in several western countries and Japan, which point towards a situation, where less number of people will enter the workforce as more number of people retire with time, also project extensive use of industrial robots in these nations in order to meet the demand-supply gap.

As stated by the new market research report on industrial robotics, Europe continues to remain the largest regional market worldwide. Asia-Pacific is the fastest growing regional market, with volume sales of industrial robots in the region waxing at a CAGR of about 9.6% over the analysis period. Growth in this market will be essentially driven by countries such as South Korea, and China, which host some of the leading electronics manufacturers in the world, thus generating substantial demand for robots capable of handling production of a range of electronic products. Increase in outsourced manufacturing activity in low-cost destinations such as China and India, is also creating the demand for industrial robotics in the region. By End-Use, Assembly Line represents the largest application market for industrial robotics worldwide. Welding, however remains a key contributor towards volume sales for industrial robots in North America and Europe.

Major players in the marketplace include ABB Limited, Adept Technology, Inc., American Robot Corporation, Denso Wave Incorporated, Evolution Robotics, Inc., FANUC Corporation, iRobot Corporation, Kawasaki Robotics (USA) Inc, KUKA Roboter GmbH, Panasonic Welding Systems Co., Ltd., Nachi-Fujikoshi Corporation, RoboGroup TEK Ltd., Rockwell Automation Inc, ST Robotics, STAUBLI Corporation, YASKAWA Electric Corporation, among others.

The research report titled “Industrial Robotics: A Global Strategic Business Report” announced by Global Industry Analysts, Inc., provides a comprehensive review of market trends, issues, drivers, company profiles, mergers, acquisitions and other strategic industry activities. The report provides market estimates and projections in volume sales for major geographic markets including the United States, Canada, Japan, Europe (France, Germany, Italy, UK, Spain, & Rest of Europe), Asia-Pacific, and Rest of World. End-Use segments analyzed include Assembly Line, Material Application, Material Handling (Palletizing/Packaging & Parts Transfer), Measuring/Inspecting/Testing and Welding.

Cops & Judges Support Calif. Assembly Marijuana Legalization Votes on Tuesday -- Law Enforcers Say Ending Prohibition Will Improve Public Safety

Cops & Judges Support Calif. Assembly Marijuana Legalization Votes on Tuesday -- Law Enforcers Say Ending Prohibition Will Improve Public Safety

On Tuesday, California state legislators will take historic votes on legalizing, regulating and taxing the sale of marijuana. A group of cops and judges who previously sent people to jail for marijuana offenses is supporting the legalization bill.

Sacramento, CA (Vocus) January 12, 2010

A group of police officers, judges and prosecutors who fought in the failed "war on drugs" is cheering this Tuesday's upcoming marijuana legalization votes in the California Assembly's Public Safety and Health committees as a sign of increasing public frustration with the harms caused by prohibition and the widespread desire for a new approach.

Judge Jim Gray, who retired last year from the California Superior Court in Orange County and is a speaker for Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (LEAP) said, "The mere fact that there will be votes in the Assembly to regulate and control the sale and distribution of marijuana would have been unthinkable even one year ago. And if the bill doesn't pass this year, it will soon. Or, the bill will be irrelevant because the voters will have passed the measure to regulate and tax marijuana that will be on the ballot this November."

Judge Gray testified at an informational hearing on marijuana legalization in the Assembly's Public Safety Committee last October. Video is available at http://www. youtube. com/watch? v=RDKarCeC_Ic (http://www. youtube. com/watch? v=RDKarCeC_Ic)

On Tuesday, January 12, the Public Safety Committee will conduct a formal hearing on Assemblyman Tom Ammiano's marijuana legalization bill, AB 390. Following the hearing the committee will vote and, if the bill is approved, there will then be a second hearing and vote in the Health Committee.

Separately, marijuana legalization advocates recently announced that they have collected enough signatures to place an initiative on the ballot this November that will allow California voters to end marijuana prohibition. Elsewhere, legislators in Washington State are also holding a hearing on marijuana legalization this week and the Rhode Island Senate is currently conducting a blue ribbon commission overview of that state's marijuana laws.

Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (LEAP) is a 15,000-member organization representing police, prosecutors, judges, FBI/DEA agents and others from around the world who want to legalize and regulate all drugs after fighting on the front lines of the "war on drugs" and learning firsthand that prohibition only serves to worsen addiction and violence. Best Self-Published Juvenile Novel of the Year

Best Self-Published Juvenile Novel of the Year

Silver Spring, Md., author's young-adult novel Peace I Ask of Thee, Oh River, wins first place in the 14th Annual Writer's Digest International Self-Published Book Award for children's/young adult fiction.

Silver Spring, MD (PRWEB) November 24, 2006

Lyda Phillips' young-adult novel Peace I Ask of Thee, Oh River has won first-place in the 2006 Writers Digest International Self-Published Book Awards in the children's/young-adult category. Peace I Ask of Thee, Oh River, which is about bullying at a girls' camp, was also a finalist in the 2006 Foreword Magazine Book of the Year Award contest.

Phillips' other YA novel, Mr. Touchdown, won first-place in the young-adult category of the 2006 Writers Notes Book Awards and was an honorable mention in the 2006 Independent Publishers Book Awards in the multicultural juvenile fiction category.

Reviewers have said the following about Peace I Ask of Thee, Oh River:

" … a great, heart-breaking read." Writer's Digest judge's comment

"The book disturbs the reader with its incursions into psychological problems, lack of empathy for those who are suffering, the sometimes negative power of girl groups, and the unwillingness of the camp to help its counselors deal with a youngster who is disturbed. However, readers can join El in her journey of self-recognition and perhaps learn how to reflect on their own experiences." Children's Literature

"Once again, Phillips has given us a strong young voice. Described as a 'normal, healthy teenager,' El Campbell finds herself dealing with things she doesn't understand, doesn't want, and can't ignore. Hers is the heroine's journey--down, down, into the depths of her own soul; to make sense of madness, to find meaning at the heart of chaos." Susan Baronoff, Emmy Award-winning television producer

"To effectively deal with difficult topics addressed to a teenage audience such as suicide, sibling grief, guilt, anger, rejection, abnormal behavior, denial, and bullying is no easy feat and it takes a certain amount of boldness and courage on the part of the author to pull it off. This is precisely what Lyda Phillips set out to accomplish with her recent novel, Peace I Ask of Thee, Oh River, and she has acquitted herself admirably." BookPleasures

"One of the things that I admire about Lyda Phillips's writing is that she brings out the inevitability of change, for good or bad. And Peace I Ask of Thee, Oh River reflects how events can unravel that forever alter the way a person interacts with the world, an inevitability that we all must accept and endure, no matter how much we'd prefer not to." David Wayne Hoffman, Gloomwing Review

Mr. Touchdown and Peace I Ask of Thee, Oh River are available through bookstores and Amazon, Barnes & Noble, iUniverse, Ingram and Baker & Taylor (Mr. Touchdown: July 29, 2005, ISBN 0-595-67288-4 hardcover $23.95; ISBN 0-595-35900-0 trade paperback, $13.95. Peace I Ask of Thee, Oh River: August 29, 2005, ISBN 0-595-36172-2 trade paperback, $10.95).

Lyda Phillips is an award-winning journalist, novelist, and screenwriter. A native of San Antonio, Texas, she went to school in Memphis, Tenn., and has degrees from Northwestern, Columbia, and Vanderbilt universities.

He is recognized world-wide for his pioneering work in the treatment of hair loss (http://www. bernsteinmedical. com/hair-loss/index. php). Dr. Bernstein is known for developing the revolutionary Follicular Unit Transplantation procedure for hair restoration.

After introducing Dr. Bernstein to Oprah, Dr. Mehmet Oz (health expert on The Oprah Winfrey Show) presents video footage of Dr. Bernstein performing a hair transplant and then invites the patient live onstage to be inspected by Oprah. In addition to engaging with the audience about baldness (http://www. bernsteinmedical. com/hair-loss/index. php) and hair transplant procedures, Dr. Bernstein examines a person from the audience who is experiencing early hair loss using an instrument known as a densitometer.

The densitometer is a self-contained, portable, device that houses a magnifying lens for viewing hairs close to the scalp. The idea behind densitometry is to determine the degree of miniaturization, or shrinking of the hair's diameter, which contributes to hair loss. This information is used to evaluate whether the patient is a good candidate for hair transplant or medical treatment, as well as to predict future hair loss.

"Follicular Unit Transplantation (http://www. bernsteinmedical. com/hair-transplant/follicular-transplant. php) is a procedure where hair is transplanted exclusively in its naturally occurring groups of 1-4 hairs. It is the logical end point of over 30 years of evolution in hair transplantation (http://www. bernsteinmedical. com/hair-transplant/overview. php) surgery" explained Dr. Bernstein. "However, this by no means implies our work is complete. We are obsessed with making the procedure as perfect as possible."

Dr. Bernstein performs hair transplant procedures at Bernstein Medical - Center for Hair Restoration at 110 East 55th Street, New York, NY. Tel: 212-826-2400 www. bernsteinmedical. com.

About Dr. Bernstein:

Dr. Bernstein is the founder of the Bernstein Medical - Center for Hair Restoration (http://www. bernsteinmedical. com/) located in Manhattan, NY. The center provides the most advanced medical and surgical therapies for male and female pattern baldness. Dr. Bernstein has recently been awarded a Certificate of Achievement from Columbia University in New York. He has been named to New York Magazine's "Best Doctor's" list for nine consecutive years. Dr. Bernstein is the most widely published author on the subject of Follicular Unit Hair Transplantation, with over fifty articles, editorial reviews, books and textbook chapters. Entrepreneurs Need Angels Too

Entrepreneurs Need Angels Too

Although only $720.7 million venture backed IPO's were recorded this first quarter 2005 (lowest in two years as per NVCA) entrepreneurs today have more options than ever. Private equity peaked in 2000 with over $106 billion raised for start-ups. But don't fret, todayÂ’s start ups are still tomorrows Dells, Microsofts, Coca-Colas or Starbucks. (ItÂ’s estimated that there is $70-100 billion in available capital from accredited private equity investors worldwide. American venture capitalists invest in approximately 70% of the worldÂ’s ventures.)

(PRWEB) April 8, 2005

Although only $720.7 million venture backed IPO's were recorded this first quarter 2005 (lowest in two years as per NVCA) entrepreneurs today have more options than ever. Private equity peaked in 2000 with over $106 billion raised for start-ups. But don't fret, todayÂ’s start ups are still tomorrows Dells, Microsofts, Coca-Colas or Starbucks.

ItÂ’s estimated that there is $70-100 billion in available capital from accredited private equity investors worldwide. American venture capitalists invest in approximately 70% of the worldÂ’s ventures. (ITFacts. biz)

The top industries invested by venture capitalists and angel investors in 2004 were software, biotech, and telecom according to studies. However, the health care services industry is ever growing and its alter ego the health and wellness industry is projected to be the next trillion dollar industry according to economist Paul Zane Pilzer.

Of the estimated $21 billion spent on private venture deals in the USA in 2004, approximately half of that went to IT companies and 11% to health services. German private equity VCÂ’s spent 3.76 billion euros in 2004. The UK and Ireland invested 464 million pounds.

Venture capital firms and angel investors are often successful entrepreneurs who singly (angels) or a as a group (vc's)give back to other potential rising stars. What do they look for?

An ideal package would include 1) at least two or more other senior executives or advisors with experience building successful companies 2) a patented technology in a sector currently considered hot or on the rise by the venture capital industry 3) a top-quality technical team 4) a target market at least one billion dollars in size 5) a minimum of two years of increasing sales to loyal customers (see http://www. startupjunkies. org (http://www. startupjunkies. org))

Investors usually like to be within an hour of their investment and retain a percentage of ownership. That doesnÂ’t mean entrepreneurs should relinquish the driverÂ’s seat. No one is more committed than you. Maintain fifty one percent or more of your company. DonÂ’t rush. Be flexible. Be realistic. Be prepared.

Angel investors often invest in industries that they have had previous success so they often want to be on the advisory board. They want to be there when the plane takes off or when the ship is about to sink. Perhaps their experience can offer a lifesaver in ways you may not have anticipated. ItÂ’s also a dance. There should be harmony between the investor and entrepreneur. This promotes communication and avoids costly errors.

Use your resources. There are plenty of free government resources (i. e. SCORE) that support and encourage entrepreneurs. Use them.

My personal advice is to read the classic book, "The Law of Success" in Sixteen Lessons by Napolean Hill. By the time you finish, you'll think you can start a company with sweat, focus, and ambition alone.

So if you are one of those people with a great idea, and saving for a rainy day, consider investing a portion in those dreams. If it turns out to be anything like Alexander Graham BellÂ’s telephone, Thomas EdisonÂ’s light bulb, or Bill GateÂ’s and Steve JobÂ’s personal computers and technologies, you may never have to worry about saving for a rainy day again.

LeTicia Lee is an entrepreneur, inventor and filmmaker with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Hampton University. She is author of the book "The Filmmaker's Guide to Film Financing" (ThereÂ’s An Angel In Your Corner)(http://www. lulu. com/content/62990 (http://www. lulu. com/content/62990)) and President & CEO of the start-up venture, Lip Scents, Inc.

Muslim, Jewish Activists Launch New Interfaith Web Site

Muslim, Jewish Activists Launch New Interfaith Web Site

Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury, a Bangladesh Muslim, and Dr. Richard L. Benkin, a Jew from the United States, announce a new web site, dedicated to promoting true interfaith understanding and relgious equality.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) April 18, 2006

Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury and Dr. Richard L. Benkin announce the launching of a new web site dedicated to strengthening the bonds of understanding among people of different faiths. This international effort has grown out of the collegial and now fraternal relationship between Choudhury, a Muslim from Bangladesh, and Benkin, a Jew from the United States. Since 2003, they have been fighting the tightly controlled and biased news and information about Israel and the Jewish people that most Muslims receive. The new site’s address is http://www. interfaithstrength. com (http://www. interfaithstrength. com).

In November of 2003, Bangladesh authorities arrested Choudhury after he published a number of articles warning his country about the threat of Islamic terrorists, urging Bangladesh to recognize Israel, and advocating interfaith understanding and religious equality. As they were taking him away, Choudhury asked his brother, Sohail, to contact Benkin for help. Benkin had been working with him and, through Choudhury, publishing in the Bangladesh press.

For seventeen months, Choudhury languished in a Bangladeshi prison often under deplorable conditions. His health deteriorated, but his spirit did not. On the outside, his family was ostracized and even attacked. When Sohail Choudhury went to the police for help, they refused blaming the attacks on the Choudhurys’ “alliance with the Jews.” Meanwhile in the United States, Benkin advocated tirelessly for his Muslim brother, writing about him, speaking with people around the US about the case, and eventually enlisting the aid of US Congressman Mark Kirk (R-IL). Kirk and Benkin met with Bangladesh’s Ambassador, Shamsher M. Chowdhury, in Kirk’s Washington office on April 8, 2005. Three weeks later, Choudhury was free.

While Bangladesh is an immediate focus for the two men, the site is universal, noting, “the problem goes beyond its borders just as the disease at its root affects more than Jews and Muslims. They have worked with Christians, Hindus, and others as well and ask peoples of all faiths and nations to join their struggle. “We will continue the struggle to bring the TRUTH to wherever a people's leaders and institutions try to keep it out.”

Benkin and Choudhury hope that the Interfaith Strength web site becomes a cyber resource of information and opinion, as well as a place where people can network with others who believe in real interfaith understanding “that comes only from respectful and honest discussion.”

Preston Kelly Wins Midwest Small Agency of the Year Award

Preston Kelly Wins Midwest Small Agency of the Year Award

The Minneapolis advertising agency scored top regional recognition in Advertising Age’s annual small agency competition.

Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) July 20, 2010

Preston Kelly (http://www. prestonkelly. com) has been innovating to change the face of Minneapolis marketing—and now the agency has received confirmation of that effort as Advertising Age’s 2010 Midwest Small Agency of the Year.

Judged by the magazine’s team of editors and acclaimed advertising industry leaders, the annual competition celebrates the work of the nation’s smaller shops. A mix of factors determine the regional winners, including the agencies’ thought leadership, business performance, digital and creative work, the impact of its work on clients’ businesses, and its commitment to innovation.

“By accelerating our clients’ marketplace momentum, we’ve accelerated our own,” said Chuck Kelly, the agency’s president. “We’re a group of very competitive people, but it’s our collaborative belief in one another and the daily trust from a roster of very strong clients that leads to innovations that actually get done and achieve market results.”

Emphasizing iconic ideas that register through the din of standard marketing messages, Preston Kelly (http://www. prestonkelly. com) submitted to the contest some of its results-driven, award-winning efforts for a range of clients. More than just a tagline or market differentiator, “iconic ideas” is a philosophy that informs everything the agency does—and one that got the attention of Advertising Age editors, who also noted Preston Kelly’s successes with National Marrow Donor Program’s “Be The Match” campaign.

“On a website, a print ad, a TV spot or a video game, an iconic idea is a meaningful symbol or concept people can adopt to identify and share our clients’ brands,” said Chris Preston, the agency’s creative director. “An iconic idea not only connects with consumers, it engages, focuses and inspires entire organizations.”

The recognition as the Midwest Small Agency of the Year—doled out at a national Advertising Age-sponsored conference in New Orleans—adds fuel to the agency’s fire in 2010. In addition to earning finalist honors in the Magazine Publishers of America’s Kelly Awards, the O’Toole awards and the international One Show, the agency recently won three awards in the 27th Annual Healthcare Advertising Awards for its work on behalf of HealthPartners—which also secured a Gold Effie in 2009. Spurred by new business growth, Preston Kelly (http://www. prestonkelly. com) has added 10 new hires across a range of departments, as well.

Despite a range of honors that champion the agency’s creative and strategic work, the Midwest Small Agency of the Year award marks the first time in Preston Kelly’s history that the entire agency has been recognized.

The Volunteer Center of Madison County’s Language Bank is Helping to Knock Down Communication Barriers in Madison County

The Volunteer Center has more than 120 volunteers, fluent in cultural diversity and a variety of languages spoken by limited or non-English speaking persons who live and work in Madison County. Requests are coming in regularly from non-profit social service agencies, schools, law enforcement and healthcare.

HUNTSVILLE, AL (PRWEB) March 9, 2007

Imagine being a non-English speaking resident of this community and needing to speak with your child’s school teacher. What if you became ill, or needed the help of a police officer? Imagine how difficult it would be to understand important information vital to your health or your child’s well-being.

The Volunteer Center of Madison County’s Language Bank Program helps to bridge that gap. The Volunteer Center has more than 120 volunteers, fluent in cultural diversity and a variety of languages spoken by limited or non-English speaking persons who live and work in Madison County. Requests are coming in regularly from non-profit social service agencies, schools, law enforcement and healthcare.

All the volunteers who give so graciously of themselves recently met for the first time this quarter and the feedback that was received was inspiring. One of the volunteers was quoted as saying, “It feels good to tear down walls. Language is simply a means of communication, but when there is a barrier in place that keeps that from happening, that wall needs to come down.” How stimulating and interesting it is to be in a room surrounded by people from all over the globe, with different customs, languages, beliefs, and to know that every one of them is there simply to make life a little easier for someone they have never even met.

If you are fluent in English and at least one other language and are interested in volunteerism, please contact:

Male Workers Twice As Likely to Fake Being Sick to Their Employers; About 30% of Low Income Workers Lack Health Insurance; Older Workers Most Likely To be Insured

Male Workers Twice As Likely to Fake Being Sick to Their Employers; About 30% of Low Income Workers Lack Health Insurance; Older Workers Most Likely To be Insured

11th Annual “Attitudes in the American Workplace” Poll by Harris for The Marlin Company

(PRWEB) September 28, 2005

North Haven, CT, (PRWEB) September 28, 2005 – A new national survey has found that men are nearly twice as likely than women to call in sick when they are just fine.

The national workplace survey also found that America is divided when it comes to health insurance. While 31% of low-income adult workers (less than $20,000) lack health insurance, 99% with yearly incomes of $75,000 or more are covered.

The survey conducted by Harris Interactive® for The Marlin Company, the workplace communication experts, found that nearly 20% of adult workers with health insurance say they would do without the insurance if they suddenly lost coverage.

These are some of the results of The Marlin Company’s 11th Annual “Attitudes in the American Workplace” survey of 757 U. S. workers 18 and older. The survey was conducted in May and June 2005 with a sampling error for the overall results of plus or minus 3.6 percentage points.

“Surprisingly, the survey found that in the past year, men are more likely to have called in sick when they were not,” said Frank Kenna III, president of The Marlin Company, which improves employee morale, performance and productivity through innovative communication programs that reach all employees. “Overall, nearly one in four workers has faked a sick day in the past year. U. S. workers with children under 18 were no more likely to take a fabricated sick day than other workers.”

“The survey’s findings on health insurance show that America is a nation of unequal health protection. Those with the lowest incomes in our society and the least likely to afford health care are the most likely to go without health coverage. On the other hand, workers with higher incomes who are most able to pay for medical care are the most likely to be covered,” said Kenna

“For all our rhetoric about healthcare as a right, we are far away from serving the needs of all American workers,” said Kenna.

“The survey suggests that we may be seeing a return to the 1989 to 1993 period when inflation was rampant and our most vulnerable workers were the least protected,” said Dr. Theodore R. Marmor, professor of public policy and management at the Yale School of Management and author of The Politics of Medicare. “Despite all the lip service given to the need for affordable healthcare, little has seemed to change in the last 15-plus years.”

Older US workers are more likely than younger workers to have health insurance. While 93% of US workers age 50 or older have health insurance, only 83% of workers age 18 to 34 are covered

The majority of US workers with health insurance say their health insurance costs are too high with older workers more likely than other age groups to find their health insurance costs too high. Health insurance companies and the US government are the most likely to be blamed for the high costs.

These 25 prinicples will help anyone who has ever been unhappy in a job, lost a job they loved, or searched for meaning in their work.

(PRWEB) March 7, 2002

Boulder, CO - March 6, 2002 - Sue Frederick, career counselor, and founder of Brilliantwork. com, released today the 25 Principles of Finding Your BrilliantWork - a guide to finding the work you'll love.

"Working with clients I've realized that most people don't give themselves permission to believe in the possibility of BrilliantWork," explains Frederick. "When I explain these 25 principles to them, they are inspired, motivated and committed to finding their true work."

Frederick defines BrilliantWork as "more than meaningful work. It's your true work - the work that transforms you - infuses you with light and infuses the world with your light. BrilliantWork transforms you into a brightly shining contributor to the world."

The 25 principles to finding your BrilliantWork include:

1. We are only truly happy (magnificent) when our work is serving the world in some meaningful way. Who cares if you're truly happy? - Your family, your loved ones, your soul, your health, and your prosperity.

2. Your work must be a good fit for you and use the innate talents and abilities that come easily to you. BrilliantWork feels graceful and is not a constant struggle.

3. Your mind is your greatest enemy to finding meaningful work that you'll love. The mind is threatened by change, and it projects fear in the form of: "Who do you think you are? What about your responsibilities? You need security above all else. You should just get a job, any job."

4. Your heart is your best friend for finding BrilliantWork.

5. Your deepest pain is your best clue to finding BrilliantWork.

6. Your true work will change forms throughout your life. You must always be paying attention to what goes on inside of you and around you.

7. Your dreams are very important. When you dream of a perfect career (even if it's to be a rock & roll star, actor, etc), that dream holds important clues to helping you find your true work.

8. You must go on "a diet of the mind" in order to succeed at finding the work you'll love. This diet only allows positive thoughts - no fear, self-doubt, anger, and blame - just courage and determination. You can do this one thought at a time, one hour at a time, one day at a time.

9. You are unique; the life you've lived up until this moment is not a haphazard string of events, but rather a series of stepping-stones bringing your soul to this place, to this moment, to do this work for the world.

10. If we passionately follow, with all of our heart and determination, the path to our true work, impossible doors will open, magic will happen, and obstacles will dissolve.

11. The right work resonates with your core - like being with your soulmate. You feel at peace, at ease, powerful, loved, and full of love.

12. When you have a great job and suddenly lose it, it's a wake-up call. You've been sleeping and not paying attention to the changes going on inside of you and around you. Perhaps your soul was longing to leave that job long ago. Perhaps you could have been proactive in making a change.

To read the other 13 Principles, visit http://www. BrilliantWork. com (http://www. BrilliantWork. com), a provider of exceptional career counseling and corporate services to help people re-invent their lives in the midst of turmoil.

"We need to embrace change, as frightening as it can be, and harness that energy to help us move into something greater than we've done before," says BrilliantWork Founder, Sue Frederick. "People go through cycles of change in their lives, and what may have been meaningful work in the past, may not be making them happy now. I can help people understand how to use that change to their advantage."

With services such as Turning Point Workshop, Life Renewal Workshop, resume building, belief exploration, and individual career counseling, BrilliantWork provides meaningful opportunities for employers to help their workers find new jobs or embrace change that may be happening within their present corporate structure.

DuPont marks its 200th year of discovery and innovation

DuPont marks its 200th year of discovery and innovation

DuPont marks 200 years of scientific achievement and innovation with products and services that make a difference in peopleÂ’s lives everywhere.

(PRWEB) April 12, 2002

DuPont marks 200 years of scientific achievement and innovation with products and services that make a difference in peopleÂ’s lives everywhere.

DuPont has shaped the world from its Teflon® nonstick coating used in cookware to Kevlar® fiber found in bullet-resistant vests to its Lycra® spandex fiber for manufacturing quality apparel.

DuPontÂ’s beginnings were established in July 19, 1802 by French immigrant Eleuthere Irenee du Pont, the man who founded DuPont Company in Wilmington, Delaware. From an explosives company, it was molded into a broad science-based chemical company on its second hundred years that expanded its market with new products like paints, plastics, cellophane, synthetic rubber, safety glass, and numerous synthetic fibers.

From then on, DuPont deepened its commitment to scientific discovery and turned its attention toward saving energy and renewing the earthÂ’s natural resources.

Throughout its history, DuPont has redefined and broadened its scientific mission, most recently adding biology to the chemistry it knows well. Soronaä, one of its new polymer products, is now made using biotechnology through a fermentation process from corn sugar, instead of using petrochemicals.

What sets DuPont apart from the rest of the corporate world is not only its longevity, but also its unique ability to adapt to changing circumstances.

The company's ability to transform and reinvent itself during its history is an important reason why DuPont continues to be one of the world's most innovative companies in its two-century journey. In the face of constant change, innovation, and discovery, its core values have remained intact: commitment to safety, health and the environment; integrity and high ethical standards; and treating people with fairness and respect.

Charles O. Holliday, the Chairman and CEO of DuPont, has been with the company for more than 30 years.

“Our longevity is a source of pride for DuPont people everywhere—an extraordinary milestone by any measure,” Holliday said. “The capacity for growth and renewal was poured into the foundations of DuPont 200 years ago, and continues today. I am confident that our long tradition of scientific innovation will further evolve in our third century.”

DuPont Philippines has been operating in the country since 1972 with Ramon Abadilla as Managing Director and Asia Pacific Regional Sourcing Manager for DuPont’s Crop Protection Products business. The company has two ISO 9002 certified plants—the Crop Protection Products Plant in Canlubang, Laguna and Seed Production Plant in Polomolok South Cotabato.

The DuPont company has continued to dedicate themselves to “improving the planet”. DuPont Philippines is also involved in various local community projects such as the reforestation of Mt. Makiling Forest Reserve Watershed, the Productivity Center for the Golden Acres’ Home for the Aged and a program providing free dental and medical clinics for farmers and their families. They have also supported scholarships for less fortunate students of the Philippine Science High School and Family Farm Schools as well as lending support to the Pasig River Heritage Marathon. The company can also be counted on for assistance during times of natural disasters such as floods, earthquakes, or volcanic eruptions.

During 2002, DuPont is celebrating its 200th year of scientific achievement and innovation—providing products and services that improve the lives of people everywhere. Based in Wilmington, Delaware, DuPont delivers science-based solutions for markets that make a difference in people's lives in food and nutrition; health care; apparel; home and construction; electronics; and transportation.

Palm Beach Corporations See the Benefits of Assisted Caregiving for Employees

Palm Beach Corporations See the Benefits of Assisted Caregiving for Employees

MARGATE, Fla. (PRWEB) July 17, 2005

The elder care program targeting South Florida corporations is being lead by A Good Daughter based in Margate, Florida.

According Olga Brunner, President of the firm, "When employers get behind paying for care management benefits, close or long-distance caregivers continue working, preventing excessive absenteeism and stress. A Good Daughter Professional Care Managers plan and organize care and services for Broward and Palm Beach County's elderly population.”

Seventeen percent (17%) of caregivers quit their jobs to provide care for aging family members, and another 15% reduce their work hours to assist their loved ones. This shocking loss of employee productivity is hitting South Florida businesses very hard as more Boomers have senior parents who require caregiving.

To stop this workforce hemorrhaging South Florida companies are looking for methods to provide assistance in caregiving to employees to keep them on the job and productive, while being sensitive to the needs of the employee.

There have been attempts at Corporate Elder Care programs, however few as comprehensive at A Good Daughter, (www. agooddaughter. com) based in Margate. According to Olga Brunner, President, “Our Corporate Elder Care program was developed to help employees balance job responsibilities and caregiving. Our Professional Care Managers plan and organize care and services for the employees of Broward and Palm Beach elderly population, affording families a peace of mind that their loved ones will find and secure services such as ongoing supervision of certified home care assistants, home maintenance and care, medication supervision, coordination of medical appointments and representation at these appointments, legal counsel, specialized air travel escorts, and many other services.”

The impact of Elder Care issues on corporate America will continue to grow as our elderly population increases:

Employees juggling job responsibilities with care giving are a reality in the workplace of today and the future. Workers are torn between the demands of their job and the ability to provide quality care to their relative.

One out of three American workers is also managing the care of an older relative.

Loss of productivity resulting from time off to care for an aging relative is estimated at $6100 per employee per year.

Caregiver stress accounts for a 27% increase in use of company health insurance benefits.

Olga Brunner originally moved from California to Florida to care for her aging mother with Alzheimer's Disease. Having been affected by the daunting task of being a caregiver while employed, she became determined to start a business which would help other caregivers navigate the troubled waters of elder care. By founding A Good Daughter, Inc., she became a care manager who brings a personal awareness of the needs of close or long distance caregivers and their loved ones.

Home and Bedroom Adds Simmons Beautyrest Mattresses to Help Customers Sleep Well

Home and Bedroom Adds Simmons Beautyrest Mattresses to Help Customers Sleep Well

Home and Bedroom has added Simmons Beautyrest Mattresses to its existing lineup of Keetsa Mattresses and Ecomfort Products. The Online Retailer continues to add Bedding and Bedroom Furniture choices to help it's customers find more ways to catch up on their sleep at Discount Prices.

Houston, TX (PRWEB) May 27, 2010

Home and Bedroom has just added Simmons Beautyrest Mattresses to its inventory of quality Discount Bedroom Furniture. The well known Simmons Brand joins the company's current line of Keetsa Mattresses and Ecomfort Memory Foam Products to offer consumers a more enjoyable and restful sleeping experience - at prices they can afford.

Simmons has a history that stretches back to 1876 when Zalmon Simmons changed the industry with his decision to mass produce woven wire mattresses. The company has been studying how to make sleep more comfortable and healthy since 1931 when they commissioned a study on sleep and sleep surfaces at the Mellon Institute of Industrial Research. That was the first study to find that on average sleepers changed their position more than 35 times during an eight-hour night's sleep.

According to a study published in the April 15, 2010 issue of the "Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine," "having a sleep disturbance is associated with clinically meaningful reductions in health-related quality of life." A 2008 Harris Interactive poll revealed that 76 percent "of respondents who recently purchased a new mattress reported that the quality of their sleep had been enhanced. And more than half of the respondents - 57 percent - also felt an improvement in their overall health."

To that end, Simmons has recently set down standards for the manufacture of it's foams and memory foams to insure that they meet the CertiPUR-US® certification seal, verifying that the foams are low-VOC and free from ozone-depleting CFC. This standard helps to make sure that mattresses that contain these elements are healthy for the consumer and good for the environment.

Jennifer Machala, Home and Bedroom's Vice President of Sales, cites the combination of these standards when explaining why the Beautyrest Mattresses make such a good addition to the company's present product lineup. "While our customers come to us for our excellent pricing, our emphasis has always been on providing them with the highest quality bedding for their hard-earned money. Beyond that, Simmons' environmental focus melds perfectly with our existing focus on Eco Friendly Mattresses and Organic Bedding."

To learn more about how the right mattress can enhance the quality of life, contact Jennifer Machala at 800-594-2130. (PRWEB) October 22, 2010

Aptus Communications announced today that it has released the newest version of its powerful, easy-to-use investment software.

Building on six years of profitable value investing algorithms, the Value Stock Selector investment software automatically researches over 9400 companies by looking at elements that are critically important for success in the stock market.

"This stock softwareanalyzes the most important aspects of a company's income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement to provide you with exact ratings and buy and sell recommendations for over 9400 stocks," said Thea Hing, Marketing Manager at Aptus Communications Inc.

There's a wealth of information in company annual reports, and Value Stock Selector can quickly and easily mine that data to find stocks with hidden value while avoiding high-flying speculative issues.

"Our goal is to cut through all of the hype and misinformation and provide the most comprehensive, easiest to use and effective methods that will produce healthy returns with a minimum of risk," said Hing.

Sprawling across a quarter million square feet of the convention center floor, more than 600 exhibitors from around the world will showcase the latest in live, virtual and constructive training technology. More than 18,000 attendees from government, academia, industry and research institutions are expected to attend the four-day event, which will also feature dozens of sessions exploring the latest developments in the world of simulated environments.

Distributed learning environments, combining live training with virtual and constructive simulations, will be featured in healthcare, military and national security exercises. This year, healthcare simulation training, a rapidly expanding field, will be showcased, with first responder training, battlefield medicine and virtual ERs among the categories.
