San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) April 18, 2007

With email archiving becoming an increasingly important aspect of many businesses, TechHit LLC has released a new version of its popular email archiving product - MessageSave 4.0. Unlike complicated all-in-one archiving solutions, that require an IT specialist to manage, MessageSave uses a file-system based approach which ensures easy integration into any existing IT environment.

Today, business executives need to keep organized archives for regulatory compliance; industry professionals need to store emails with project-related documents; and sales people need to maintain an audit of email correspondence with customers. MessageSave is in use by thousands of users in financial securities, legal, healthcare, construction, engineering and many other industries.

MessageSave archives each message into an individual file. This allows the users to leverage industry-standard tools and technologies for backups, access control, managing, indexing and searching the archive. It also makes the archiving process easy to manage and cost-effective, while providing an alternative to expensive all-in-one server-based archiving solutions.

MessageSave integrates directly with Outlook for simplicity and ease-of-use, while providing flexibility and a level of customization required by power-users. MessageSave supports large-scale deployment and has an ability to centrally control settings by system administrators.

MessageSave 4.0 is now available for $49.95(US) per user. System Requirements: Windows 98/Me/2000/XP/Vista and requires Outlook 2000, 2002, 2003 or 2007. Volume license discounts are available. Privileged Healthcare -- the Uniquely American Solution

Privileged Healthcare -- the Uniquely American Solution

The passage of House Bill H. R.3962 gives Americans a clearer view of Congress' best ideas on healthcare reform, including a long awaited public option. Despite the stated goals, key provisions of the House and Senate bills perpetuate the same privileged system that led to the crisis.

Santa Fe, NM (PRWEB) November 15, 2009

Middle-income families have reason to be concerned about Congress' healthcare reform ideas. Its proposals claim to be providing affordable healthcare for all, but a close look at the details reveals a different result.

Campbell-Graves' latest report, Privileged Healthcare - the Uniquely American Solution (http://www. campbell-graves. org/privilegedcare/), compares key provisions of the latest bill to pass the House of Representatives with two Senate proposals. The House bill brings with it the first look at a public insurance option. All three proposals frame how Congress intends to make healthcare affordable.

Author Phil Campbell-Graves warns, "When Congress says it is 'bending the cost curve,' it is talking about government spending." Two questions relate to the more meaningful cost issues. The first is whether proposals cut America's total spending, or just federal spending. The latter reallocates costs across society. The second question is how Congress allocates costs. Proposal details answer both questions. The answers indicate problems.

The report explores four topics that describe challenges confronting Congress. It then examines:

How proposals intend to control total costs; How proposed price restrictions would affect most Americans; How proposed mandates affect program performance; Whether consumer information proposals are sufficient; and, Whether the public option delivers what Congress promises. In their current form, Congress' ideas conflict with its stated goal. A promise of 'affordable' implies proportional to income. Affordable healthcare means everyone has a right to the same quality of medical care, irrespective of financial ability. Key provisions of all three proposals codify a privileged system. That system disproportionately burdens middle-income families. Moreover, one important quality is missing from all three proposals.

Privileged Healthcare - the Uniquely American Solution is a free, public-service report. The Adobe PDF file, with video, may be downloaded from campbell-graves. org.

New England Company Plays Santa’s Helper Importing All-Natural Candy Canes from South Africa for U. S. Kids with Special Dietary Needs

New England Company Plays Santa’s Helper Importing All-Natural Candy Canes from South Africa for U. S. Kids with Special Dietary Needs

The Really Healthy Stuff Company (REHEST) is making it easier for moms and dads to give their candy-loving kids the gift of good health this holiday season. Caring Candies are a unique line of all-natural sweets and treats from South Africa – including totally sugar-free candy canes – and are now available in the U. S. through REHEST’s exclusive distributor relationship with the manufacturer. Previously, desperate U. S. parents went through the ordeal of ordering this one-of-a-kind candy directly from Cape Town in South Africa.

Amesbury, MA (PRWEB) November 29, 2010

The Really Healthy Stuff Company is putting the ‘happy’ into the 2010 holiday season for kids and adults with dietary restrictions. REHEST is the exclusive North American distributor of Caring Candies from South Africa, a line of all-natural, sugar-free candy canes, bonbons, and lollipops that are perfect for people who love treats, but whose dietary restrictions prevent them from enjoying traditional holiday sweets.

“Most parents, particularly those whose children have dietary restrictions, are more than willing to ‘go the extra mile’ to put a smile on their kids’ faces. . . even if it means they have to shop as a far away as Cape Town in South Africa,” explains Bianca Riethmueller, CEO and co-founder of the Really Healthy Stuff Company. “And until we started distributing Caring Candies here in the U. S., desperate parents were forced to go through the ordeal of having to place orders for this high quality product directly with the candy maker in South Africa.”

In addition to paying for the candies themselves, parents incurred the added expense of shipping all the way from South Africa, and then worried that the packages might not arrive in time for holidays and birthdays. “But concerned moms and dads felt the extra effort was worth it because Caring Candies are simply unique in that they are delicious and beautiful, but can still be enjoyed by kids with even severe dietary restrictions. Bianca Riethmueller explains. “There simply was no candy like this in the United States.”

That situation has now changed. . . for the better. Thanks to the dedicated REHEST team, Caring Candies – including brightly colored holiday candy canes – may now be purchased throughout the United States by online orders from http://www. ReallyHealthyStuff. com. They are also available in U. S. retail stores including select Whole Foods stores on the East Coast, as well as other online retailers.

Easy availability is, in itself, a welcome gift for the holiday-stressed parents of children with food allergies or with diet restrictions due to illnesses like cancer and diabetes, and conditions such as autism, ADHD/ADD, and childhood obesity, not to mention cavity-prone teeth. “And Caring Candies are a perfect choice for parents who simply want their children to lead a healthy lifestyle,” says Riethmueller.

Caring Candies are also the only confectionary certified Kosher Parve by Union of Orthodox Synagogues of South Africa.

Inspired by Real Life Parents on Two Continents
REHEST was inspired by the experiences of Heather Flaherty, the mother of a child with severe food allergies “It took years of research and effort, but Heather was ultimately able to move her son off the autism spectrum,” reports Riethmueller, “in particular through dietary intervention.” It was this challenging, but ultimately successful journey that led Riethmueller, an entrepreneur and mother herself, to found the Really Healthy Stuff Company with Flaherty.

The origin of the Caring Candies company was similarly inspired.

Caring Candies were developed in South Africa in 2003 by Denise and Neil Glezer-Jones. Frustrated by the lack of healthy treats available for their own family, the father and mother team set out to develop a line of sweets specifically for diabetics, hyperactive children, dieters and other health-conscious individuals everywhere who, “wanted to say ‘yes’ to candy, but ‘no’ to sugar or other ‘nasties’ in any form, whether artificial colors/dyes, preservatives, artificial flavors, artificial sweeteners or other artificial ingredients,” reports Riethmueller.

The Isomalt Difference
Flavored only with herbs or fruits, Caring Candies are like no other product available in the U. S. They can truly be considered sugar-free and are among only a few candies in the world that children with dietary restrictions can enjoy. Candies labeled as ‘all natural’ or ‘organic’ are typically made with evaporated cane juice. “While evaporated cane juice is different from processed sugar, it is still sugar – even if it is not listed as ‘sugar’ on an ingredient label. So products made with evaporated cane juice cannot be tolerated by people with diabetes and other dietary restrictions,” Riethmueller explains. Caring Candies, on the other hand, are made with a sugar substitute called Isomalt which is made from beets. This is important because Isomalt is low on the glycemic index (GI), a comparative measurement of the amount of glucose released by a particular food over a two to three-hour period and a key measurement used by people with diabetes in the regulation of blood sugar. Caring Candies’ index at 9 (out of 100) on the GI compares highly favorably to evaporated cane juice (55 out of 100) and refined table sugar (80 out of 100). Caring Candies are also fat-free and low in carbohydrates.

But it’s the delicious taste of Caring Candies that truly sets them apart.

Award-Winning Flavor
In 2004, Caring Candies received the Palatinit Award for Best Sugar Free Product at an international competition beating entries from all over the world. In 2010, Caring Candies lollipops were recognized as best lollipops and as an Editor’s Pick by the Progressive Grocer, a US trade magazine covering the grocery trade.

Every piece of Caring Candies is expertly handcrafted and consists of only natural ingredients, with kid-friendly flavors that are derived from healthy herbs and fruit essences instead of synthetic sugar. “The amazing eye-popping coloration is all-natural and comes from veggies, plants, and herbs, too,” reports Riethmueller.

Caring Candies handmade, all-natural sugar-free candy canes are available in sampler packages that contain three flavors per gift packet, including ‘traditional’ Pure Mint, Raspberry, and Pineapple-Orange. Can an Independent Recording Artist Help Re-Create the World?

Can an Independent Recording Artist Help Re-Create the World?

How will the choices we make today affect the world of tomorrow? This is the question being asked by an independent recording artist with the release of her new online video. The vast population living in urban cities is having the effect of consolidating and limiting the choices being offered to people. Robin looks at some options that are available.

Ukiah, CA (PRWEB) October 4, 2005

If you have been around for a few decades, then you have probably noticed some changes.

Highways where traffic moved at a fair speed in the 70's and 80's are now jammed with cars inching along; orchards and open spaces once offering food, oxygen, and beauty throughout towns have become malls and solid concrete strips; and where drinking tap water was once taken for granted, the thought of consuming unfiltered, unpurified, or un-bottled water is unfathomable.

So what would the modern world be like if the people of yesteryear hadn't spoken out on behalf of the parks, air and food quality, wildlife, waterways, and working conditions among many other concerns. Then again, what would life be like today, if back in the 50's and 60's there had been enormous public and corporate pressure to develop and put federal dollars into alternative fuels and open space planning and preservation? If we knew then what we know now, would we have made other choices?

This leads up to the question being asked by one recording artist, Kristine Robin, in her new online video "Creating the World of Our Dreams," (which can be viewed at: http://www. kristinerobin. com/worldofdreams/oneisthesun. html (http://www. kristinerobin. com/worldofdreams/oneisthesun. html)) Â…exactly how will the choices we make today affect the world of tomorrow?

Robin's video, featuring her song "One is the Sun" from her debut album "Everchanging Tides," combines music, images and words to address this provocative question. By collaborating with photographers from around the world she was able to obtain vivid images to pose this question as well as to tell stories reflecting on humanity's challenges and triumphs.

Robin says, "I sometimes think about what kind of life my three children will have when they're grown and want to have homes and children of their own."

Certainly, she is not alone when she ponders this question. 47% of the world's 6.4 billion population lives in urban cities, and when you look at industrial countries such as Japan, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and much of Western Europe the figure rises to 79% or more. (Population figures from the 2005 World Population Data Sheet of The Population Reference Bureau - http://www. prb. org (http://www. prb. org))

Having this many people living in moderate to heavily populated cities has had the effect of consolidating and limiting the choices that are offered to people to satisfy their necessities. Choices that are already defined for most of the population and are offered in a fairly structured manner range from where to obtain food, drinking water, clothing, available modes of transportation, where and how to get power, all the way down to how houses may be constructed.

While the public would like to hope that these choices were made to be most beneficial to the health of their families and communities, this has not always proven to be the case. Even when they may want to make better choices, the options aren't always obvious or readily available.

This is one issue Robin hopes to address when she suggests that, "Individuals can always influence the availability of options by how they vote, spend their money, or publicly voice their concerns."

Commenting on the video, which is inspired by a Hopi prophecy that speaks of the need to live by nature's laws to insure the survival of future generations, Robin says, "Innovating ways to simplify our lives that put less stress on natural resources is another option we all have."

It seems that people are responding to Kristine Robin's message. Since her video was released in early September, she has received a tremendous world wide response with over 100,000 hits on her website and many offers ranging from participating in an Israeli/Palestinian/Christian/Hopi peace vigil in Jerusalem to being a featured artist on numerous websites.

Within the song in her video is a prayer spoken in Native Cheyenne by her adopted Cheyenne grandfather, Eugene Blackbear (also known for his role as chief in the film Last of the Dog Men with Barbara Hershey.) The intent of the prayer, which humbly asks Creator to help guide the people of the world safely through these tough times, is certainly something we can all appreciate.

Robin hopes the video will bring people's awareness to the choices they are making in their everyday lives, and how the affects of those choices are creating the world in which they live.

Kristine Robin is a member of ASCAP and The Recording Academy. Her album Everchanging Tides is available from Amazon, CD Baby, www. kristinerobin. com, and retail stores across the country (listed on her website.) Currently 50% of profits from album purchases made through her website go to hurricane relief organizations. Another song from Robin's album entitled "The Dark and Light" will be featured later on this year in an upcoming film called "Dancer's Dreams" from Windsong Pictures.

Local Virtual Assistant Celebrates Inaugural International Virtual Assistants Day: May 19, 2006

Local Virtual Assistant Celebrates Inaugural International Virtual Assistants Day: May 19, 2006

Inaugural celebration of International Virtual Assistants Day to be held on May 19, 2006. IVAD coincides with a three-day assembly sponsored by the Online International Virtual Assistants Convention (OIVAC) running from May 18 – 20, 2006. Virtual Assistants worldwide will display the free IVAD logo and creed on their websites.

Baltimore, OH (PRWEB) May 2, 2006

Ten years ago if any one had told Baltimore resident, Terry L. Green, that the nascent industry she has been working so hard to promote would finally receive its own day of recognition; she probably would not have believed it. Green is a virtual assistant, and she along with more than 5,000 other virtual professionals working worldwide will celebrate the first International Virtual Assistants Day (IVAD) on May 19, 2006.

Proposed by the online advocacy group, Alliance for Virtual Businesses (A4VB), IVAD is now officially registered with Chases Calendar of Events, the recognized authority of special days, weeks and months. IVAD will appear in the 2007 edition and will be held annually on the third Friday of May. The inaugural celebration of International Virtual Assistants Day coincides with a three-day assembly sponsored by the Online International Virtual Assistants Convention (OIVAC) running from May 18 – 20, 2006. Virtual Assistants worldwide will display the free IVAD logo and creed on their websites.

“This day of observance not only allows us to celebrate individual accomplishments, but also affords us the chance to pat the backs of our colleagues as well,” says Green, whose company specializes in working with professional speakers, authors and coaches in the areas of executive and administrative assistance.

Green, a former executive assistant, originally conceived the idea for her business in October 1991. She started a new career in order to have the opportunity to be at home with her then teenage children, and fulfil a lifelong dream of having her own business and being able to do what she loved to do on her own terms, without the constraints and limitations of the corporate world. Now, almost 15 years later, what started out as a sole proprietorship serving only the local community is now Fastype VA Services, Inc., serving clients worldwide.

Virtual Assistants or VAs are independent entrepreneurs who work remotely and use the latest technology to deliver professional administrative, creative, managerial, technical, business, back-office and/or personal support services to busy professionals. Clients pay only for the time actually spent working on their projects, and often retain a fixed amount of hours per month for service.

Typical services could include everything from general secretarial and word processing services to desktop publishing, website creation and marketing. Projects are often handled over the phone, by fax, email and even instant messaging. Most attractive is the fact that VAs are also responsible for their own taxes, training, healthcare insurance  overhead costs that make hiring an employee expensive.

Since 1996 more than 5,000 professionals around the world have become VAs. More than 90 percent of them are highly-skilled working mothers who choose to start their own businesses in order to achieve a better work/life balance. According to a study conducted by Brenner Books in conjunction with A4VB in 2004, the United States accounts for the largest number of VAs followed by Canada, Australia and Great Britain.

“This will be a very special day for everyone involved in the VA industry because it will allow us to bring together all VA organizations and their memberships under one umbrella,” says Alliance for Virtual Businesses founder Sharon Williams. “VAs are making important contributions to the growth and stability of small businesses everywhere, and the establishment of IVAD simply acknowledges all of those virtual professionals who work so hard to honor our creed: Dedication, Experience, Expertise and Determination to Succeed (DEEDS).”

Gastric Bypass Weighs in Against Gastric Pacemakers

A leading medical device manufacturer has announced that it will press on with attempts to develop a gastric pacemaker, which they hope will produce a feeling of satiation through the delivery of small electric currents that cause the stomach to contract. While the device has yet to succeed in clinical trails, the makers are continuing to explore this and other technologies to combat increasing rates of obesity.

SAN DIEGO, CA (PRWEB) May 26, 2006

A leading medical device manufacturer has announced that it will press on with attempts to develop a gastric pacemaker, which they hope will produce a feeling of satiation through the delivery of small electric currents that cause the stomach to contract. While the device has yet to succeed in clinical trails, the makers are continuing to explore this and other technologies to combat increasing rates of obesity.

While this technology may not currently be an available option for overweight or obese people, there are many other options. The most popular procedure is known as Roux-en-Y divided gastric bypass, which is widely accepted as the most effective surgical treatment available. Considered the gold standard to alleviate severe obesity, the procedure can be performed as an open or laparoscopic procedure. With either style, the stomach is divided into two sections. One of the two sections is a new, smaller pouch that will act as the new stomach. The new stomach has the capacity of roughly two ounces, as opposed to its former size of about two quarts. This drastic reduction limits your stomach’s ability to hold food, resulting in a feeling of fullness after eating only a small amount.

“We are committed to providing the best possible care and outcomes for our patients,” said George Zorn, M. D. “In our opinion, surgery the most effective tool to aid in the significant weight loss of clinically obese individuals.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 64 percent of adults aged 20 years or older are overweight or obese. As with any serious disease, curing it requires medical attention. In many cases, surgical treatment offers possibly the only effective long-term method of weight control. In fact, according to scientifically published reports, in 95 percent of cases, significant weight lost through nonsurgical programs is regained within three to five years.

Surgeons at Pacific Bariatric Surgical Medical Group (http://www. pbsmg. com (http://www. pbsmg. com)) have performed over 9,000 procedures on adult and adolescent patients at Scripps Mercy Hospital. As a result of outstanding aftercare programs and support groups, patients at Pacific Bariatric and Scripps Mercy Hospital see a slightly higher success rate than the national average.

Pacific Bariatric Surgical Medical Group and Scripps Mercy Hospital are nationally designated by the American Society for Bariatric Surgery as a Center of Excellence for bariatric surgery. Pacific Bariatric Surgical Medical Group, also known as Hillcrest Surgical Medical Group, Inc., has an 80-year tradition of surgical excellence and leadership in San Diego County. Scripps Mercy Hospital has been a health care leader in San Diego County for more than 115 years, offering patients an unparalleled continuum of care. For more information, visit http://www. pbsmg. com (http://www. pbsmg. com).

Established in 1890 by the Sisters of Mercy, Scripps Mercy Hospital serves the San Diego and Chula Vista communities. With 700 licensed beds, more than 3,000 employees and 1,300 physicians, Scripps Mercy Hospital is San Diego’s longest established and only Catholic medical center. With two campuses, Scripps Mercy Hospital is the largest hospital in San Diego County and one of the 10 largest in California. With Increased investment in IT and telecommunications the race is on to automate clinical processes and increase the efficiency of the healthcare sector

With Increased investment in IT and telecommunications the race is on to automate clinical processes and increase the efficiency of the healthcare sector.

(PRWEB) August 27, 2004

Research and Markets announces the addition of "Wireless Healthcare 2004" to its offerings.

Recently the healthcare sector has evolved toward investing heavily in IT and telecommunications. Now the race is on to automate clinical processes and increase the efficiency of the healthcare sector, to meet the challenge of caring for an ageing population and treating diabetes and other lifestyle diseases that are afflicting younger people. As it can be rolled out quickly and relatively cheaply, wireless networking infrastructure has a key role within the healthcare sector. However, wireless technology in general - and mobile technology in particular - can be used to do more than merely automate existing clinical processes. They can also be used to support new and innovative processes and services in the primary, secondary and public healthcare sectors.

This report provides a comprehensive review of the market for wireless based ehealth, examining the key areas in which wireless and mobile technology will impact on the healthcare sector, and describes the challenges and opportunities faced by IT vendors, network operators and healthcare providers as mobile ehealth services are deployed.

While health providers are already geared up to dealing with an increasing number of elderly patients, and could probably cope with a rise in instances of obesity related diseases, they cannot do both without automating clinical processes and using technology to improve public health.

For the healthcare sector wireless and mobile technology have come along at an opportune time. For decades the healthcare sector has lagged behind the manufacturing and financial sectors in the adoption of automated processes. Now it can use mobile and wireless technology to realise the sort of efficiency gains achieved by banks and large businesses.

This report explains how mobile and wireless based healthcare services will cause gradual fragmentation of the healthcare sector, as an increasing number of clinical processes and patient monitoring services are provided by private companies. The report identifies home monitoring of the elderly and GPS enabled phones that double as heart monitors as technologies that have been ‘productised’ and are marketed to patients.

This report also identifies services that could provide significant revenue for mobile operators and IT vendors, and describes a range of technologies and processes that could open up the healthcare market to a new generation of providers.

This report is of interest to:-

Mobile network operators.  Wireless equipment vendors.  Healthcare providers.  Handset and PDA manufacturers.  Decision makers in the public healthcare sector.  Investors in the healthcare sector.  Other organisations active in ehealth provision.

New RSS 4.0 is a Shot in the Arm for Healthcare Staffing Organizations

New RSS 4.0 is a Shot in the Arm for Healthcare Staffing Organizations

Clearview Staffing Software has unleashed the newest version of Recruit Source System, RSS 4.0. It provides unprecedented usability, enabling medical staffing organizations and hospital HR departments to enhance and expedite their recruiting and on-boarding efforts.

Dallas, Texas (PRWEB) December 4, 2008

Clearview Staffing Software has unleashed the newest version of Recruit Source System, RSS 4.0. It provides unprecedented usability, enabling medical staffing organizations and hospital HR departments to enhance and expedite their recruiting and on-boarding efforts. "The upgrades and additions to RSS 4.0 are significant. We have worked closely with our clients to address their specific needs. We listen intently and we act quickly," stated David Gorman, President of Clearview Staffing Software. RSS 4.0 combines secure online employment application processing with nationally validated competency tests and skills checklists, creating a seamless and comprehensive means of capturing complete candidate profiles and accurately assessing candidates' qualifications and competency.

One of the most impressive additions to RSS 4.0 is the new electronic document center called eDocs. Beyond providing a central location to store all electronic documents, eDocs allows staffing organizations to upload any document and transform it into an electronic form that can be completed online. The easy-to-use drag and drop form creator auto-populates candidate data from their online application, dramatically reducing the time spent on documents by as much as 75%. That means less errors, less paper and less hassles.

Another invaluable and timesaving component of eDocs is ClearSign, our proprietary technology that allows candidates to enter an electronic signature with a click of a mouse. No more mailing, faxing or waiting. ClearSign is a validated and approved method for signing sensitive documents utilizing uncompromised security.

"One thing users will notice the moment they log on, is the new and improved interface. Our goal is to enhance the usability while streamlining workflow. We feel this is going to have a very positive effect in helping users maximize the full potential of RSS," said Mr. Gorman. RSS 4.0 offers a new more intuitive interface that makes the software easier to use and provides access to critical information without opening multiple windows. One such example is the all new Assignment Manager, which decreases the amount of time it takes to communicate with candidates. It allows users to create "packets" of required items for candidate completion and assigns them accordingly. Skills Checklists. Competency Tests. And important documents such as employee handbooks and orientation materials. With Assignment Manager, staffing personnel can build packets based on position classification, regional requirements, hospital guidelines and more. Sending packets versus multiple document attachments saves time and increases productivity.

RSS is widely recognized as the standard for Validated Competency Tests and Skills Checklists. Several new additions to 4.0 further demonstrate Clearview's in-depth expertise and understanding of the health care staffing industry. With over 100 tests now available in the RSS library, clients can be assured that their medical personnel resources are among the most qualified candidates, and that patients are getting the highest quality care possible.

Clearview continually provides enhancements and updates to RSS that are sure to make sourcing and qualifying top medical talent easier than ever.

Sudden Cardiac Arrest Coalition Launches Advocacy Website - StopCardiacArrest. org

Sudden Cardiac Arrest Coalition Launches Advocacy Website - StopCardiacArrest. org

Sudden Cardiac Arrest Coalition launches StopCardiacArrest. org, a comprehensive advocacy Web site to educate public, mobilize supporters and arm decision-makers with facts on this leading killer.

Washington, DC (PRWEB) July 27, 2007

This week, the Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) (http://www. suddencardiacarrest. org/) Coalition announced the launch of a comprehensive website to underscore the Coalition's efforts to stop cardiac arrest (http://www. stopcardiacarrest. org/policymakers/fast-facts. htm). The website, StopCardiacArrest. org (http://www. stopcardiacarrest. org/), contains information about the prevalence of SCA, possible risk factors, as well as provides tools and resources for how to learn even more, all demonstrating the need for greater research, awareness and access to treatment.

"With this new website, we will be able to educate both the American public and the decision-makers in Washington on the urgency of addressing sudden cardiac arrest," said Charlie Jones, Vice President of Communications for the Heart Rhythm Society, and co-chair of the SCA Coalition. "From illustrating the broad and deadly impact of SCA with an interactive map of the US, to telling the personal stories of those who've been directly affected by SCA, this website will be a key tool in demonstrating that it is time to focus the government's attention and significant resources on a killer that claims more than 250,000 lives each year."

The website contains features to mobilize the national public, as well as arm decision-makers with facts and examples as they strive to enact change. Some of these features include:
An interactive state-by-state map of annual deaths from SCA (http://www. stopcardiacarrest. org/policymakers/state-based-fact-map. htm)  Fast facts about this leading killer  Results of a national public survey regarding Americans' support for increased resources to fight SCA  Tools for decision-makers and the media  Personal stories from survivors  Advocacy links for the public to become involved

As the legislative campaign builds momentum, the site will become a centralized resource where bills and related materials will be posted, and other legislative tools, like white papers, can be accessed. While research at this time is still minimal, any studies or papers published on SCA will be posted to the site for easy reference for advocates, Hill staffers, the medical community or the general public.

"The SCA Coalition now stands more than 30 members strong, and we are all confident that this new website will be an important part of accomplishing our aggressive agenda and saving lives," stated Jones. "We believe this site effectively and concisely provides key information about SCA, highlighting the need for the federal government to focus resources to fight this deadly killer - ultimately generating greater research, awareness and access to treatment for the American public."

On the website, users will also be able to access the vast resources of the SCA Coalition's more than 30 members, by linking directly to their websites. Through both the Coalition's website and their own efforts, each of these members will help urge Congress and the federal agencies involved in national health policies and programs, to devote more resources to greater public awareness of SCA, research and access to life-saving therapies.

StopCardiacArrest. org (http://www. stopcardiacarrest. org/) will help the SCA Coalition, over the next year, encourage the introduction and passage of an Omnibus bill that, if passed, will provide the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services with the resources and the imperative to develop and implement a comprehensive education and research program for SCA. This will include appropriations for medical screening and tracking studies, as well as public awareness and education campaigns. The bill will also include a resolution to create a National Sudden Cardiac Arrest Week, to set aside time each year to focus national public attention on this deadly killer.

About Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA):
The SCA Coalition is comprised of more than 30 organizations passionate about preventing sudden cardiac arrest deaths through legislative initiatives that lead to greater public awareness, research and access to life-saving therapies. The SCA Coalition is focused on national issues that have the opportunity to bring about meaningful change that will save lives. For more information on SCA, visit: www. suddencardiacarrest. org

PureAquaNow. com Debuts to Deliver Premium Water Filtration Systems and Info

Founders of PureAquaNow. com, Ryan and Nicole Burdock, are pleased to voice the launch of their new website. Shoppers will discover a premium assortment of water filtration systems designed to purify each drinkable drop of water in a household or office and are available in various models. Visit the website’s newly developed blog to learn about the advantages of each filtration system and the perks of pure water.

Adel, IA (Vocus) October 19, 2010

Web entrepreneurs Ryan and Nicole Burdock are pleased to announce the publication of their brand-new website, http://www. PureAquaNow. com. Launched in June, the web business was developed to promote the pure and healthy nature of premium filtered water as well as the refreshing taste of purified drinking water.

“It’s important that people reduce the nitrate levels of their drinking water while also eliminating bacteria,” Ryan said. “Nitrate is commonly found in rural farming areas and mixes in with the well water, which can be quite unhealthy. I would know; I’ve spent my whole life in the Midwest battling these conditions.”

At PureAquaNow. com online shoppers are invited to discover a premium array of water filtration systems that feature various styles and filtration methods. Choose from the three standard models – all guaranteed to deliver the satisfaction of quality and taste. The ultra-violet purifier is a new model that uses UV light to eliminate bacteria and pathogens; the system may be applied to the entire house or may be limited to a sink or faucet. The ceramic filtration system is constructed of a coarse material, which it uses to filter out bad substances like micro bacteria; this model may be applied to any sink or faucet. Finally, the reverse osmosis filtration system utilizes a 15-step purification process, which can include pairing with the UV system to provide a double filtration; this model may be applied to an entire household.

In addition to these premium models, simpler systems – such a refrigerator filters and pitcher filters – are available for curious shoppers who are just getting started. Shoppers are also encouraged to keep an eye out for new products as the Burdocks will continue to update their website with new and emerging water filtration systems.

“Everyone wants to protect their kids,” Ryan said. “Growing up in rural Iowa, we were limited to mostly well water, which lacked filtration. Therefore, my parents invested in a family water filtration system and, now that I have a family of my own, I’ve gone to the same measures to keep our water clean, safe and refreshing.”

To learn more about the many benefits of water purification, shoppers are prompted to visit the website’s newly formulated blog, http://www. PureAquaNowBlog. com. This social platform will also be used to provide detailed information about each filtration system as well as highlighting the geographical areas of our nation that would benefit most.

PureAquaNow. com – make a fresh start today!

Feinstein Institute Becomes Home to Prestigious Federally-Funded Center on Parkinson’s Disease

Feinstein Institute Becomes Home to Prestigious Federally-Funded Center on Parkinson’s Disease

The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) announced today that The Feinstein Institute for Medical Research has been endowed as one of the Morris K. Udall Centers of Excellence in Parkinson’s Disease Research.

Manhasset, NY (Vocus) September 29, 2010

The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) announced today that The Feinstein Institute for Medical Research has been endowed as one of the Morris K. Udall Centers of Excellence in Parkinson’s Disease Research. The federal initiative to select research institutes dedicated to the study of Parkinson’s and create a Center of Excellence was started to advance cutting-edge research on is this movement disorder, which affects at least 500,000 in the US, according to NINDS estimates. The addition of two new centers -- the Feinstein Institute and Emory University in Atlanta -- adds new dimensions to the 9 other centers that have been selected since the program began in 1997. The NINDS grants will provide a five-year investment totaling more than $16 million for both research institutes.

David Eidelberg, MD, a pioneer in brain imaging in Parkinson’s, directs the Feinstein Institute’s Susan and Leonard Feinstein Center for Neurosciences in Manhasset, NY. Dr. Eidelberg and his colleagues have spent decades using imaging to capture the diseased brain. The images have allowed them to identify discrete large-scale networks damaged in the disease process. By developing a non-invasive method to measure the activity of abnormal networks in brain images from living patients, Dr. Eidelberg’s approach had led to new insights into the natural history of Parkinson’s disease and its treatment.

“This award recognizes the significant contribution made over the years in the use of advanced functional imaging technology to further the understanding of Parkinson’s disease,” said Dr. Eidelberg. “As part of the Udall Center, scientists at the Feinstein Institute will continue to utilize novel imaging techniques and computational approaches to better understand the impact of treatment on brain organization. This knowledge will create the basis for more effective therapies for patients with this debilitating neurological disorder.”

As part of the mission of the Udall Centers, the investigators at the 11 institutions will share their expertise in an effort to speed the development of new treatments to stop, slow or prevent Parkinson’s disease.

NINDS Director Story Landis, Ph. D., made the announcement of the awards today at the World Parkinson Congress in Glasgow, Scotland. The congress is an international forum where scientists, health care providers, physicians, patients, family and caregivers meet to share the latest developments in Parkinson's disease.

“For more than a decade, the Udall Centers of Excellence have represented our commitment to bring together the talent and effort of the foremost investigators advancing research in Parkinson’s disease,” said Dr. Landis. “I look forward to these new centers partnering with us to accelerate basic, translational and clinical research to find a cure for this devastating illness.”

The research institutes awarded Udall Center grants have a wide range of expertise in Parkinson’s research. While the Feinstein specializes in imaging and identifying the brain networks damaged in patients and progressively worsening throughout the disease process, other centers focus on genetic and genomic studies, work to improve animal models, the development and testing of potential medicines and clinical research with Parkinson's disease patients. The Feinstein team also will continue to work with patients who suffer serious clinical side effects from levodopa and scan their brains throughout the disease course to examine individual differences in the cognitive response to treatment. They are also developing a novel imaging method that will allow them to identify damaged brain circuits at the earliest stage of the disease. This may ultimately help to better diagnose Parkinson’s as well as developing treatments that specifically target these brain circuit changes.

The NINDS launched the program in 1997. The Udall Centers are named in honor of U. S. Rep. Morris K. Udall (D-Ariz.) He died in 1998 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.

The neurodegenerative disorder attacks a specific set of dopaminergic neurons in areas of the brain that control movement and cognition. There are treatments that deliver dopamine to these hard-hit areas and help with the movement-related symptoms – tremor, stiffness, slow gait -- but there are no treatments that slow the underlying disease process.

The NINDS’s web site provides more detailed information about the Udall Centers, visit http://www. ninds. nih. gov/research/parkinsonsweb/udall_centers/. For additional information on Parkinson’s research at the Feinstein Institute visit http://www. feinsteininstitute. org/Feinstein/Functional+Brain+Imaging+Laboratory

Cure for Alcoholism Treats Underlying Nutritional Deficiency

Cure for Alcoholism Treats Underlying Nutritional Deficiency

Natural health nutritionist shares solution to disease affecting millions

Longwood, FL (PRWEB) March 26, 2008

Alcoholism is a disease affecting millions of individuals and families. There are recovery programs available everywhere, but is there actually a cure? Author and natural health nutritionist Sylvanus J. Diel, says there is. "If an alcoholic wants to be cured, alcohol can be consumed in the same way nonalcoholic beverages are consumed--without the fear of becoming an alcoholic again." According to Diel, alcoholism is a multinutritional deficiency disease. In his revolutionary new book, From Alcoholism to Moderation "The Cure" ($9.99, paperback, 978-1-60266-946-8), Diel shares nature's solution for addressing the nutritional deficiency that triggers alcoholism. The present approaches for working with alcoholics do not function as cures, only as temporary treatment options that fail sooner or later. With his natural treatment option, alcoholics and their families will be able to live with freedom and confidence that the problem is cured, not simply under momentary control.

"I truly care about people and want to provide the facts to educate them on alcoholism and how to cure it," says Diel. "I have more than fifty years study in the field of natural nutrition and have gathered the best of this information to formulate my approach to this important problem." From Alcoholism to Moderation "The Cure"--real answers for the very real problem of alcoholism.

Sylvanus J. Diel has more than fifty years of self-study in the area of natural health and nutrition. He is a life member of the National Health Federation, a nonprofit health advocacy organization. He also spent several years as the director of the Diel Institute of Health and Nutrition, where he helps people solve their health problems with natural nutrition.

Xulon Press, a part of Salem Communications Corporation, is the world's largest Christian publisher, with more than 4,000 titles published to date. Retailers may order From Alcoholism to Moderation "The Cure" through Ingram Book Company and/or Spring Arbor Book Distributors.

Water Coolers Direct Launch the New ZIP HydroTap Online

Water Coolers Direct Launch the New ZIP HydroTap Online

The Zip HydroTap which was recently featured on Grand Designs, Saturday Kitchen and Property Ladder has now been launched on the Water Coolers Direct website. Fitting under the kitchen sink and suitable for both home or office based customers, the system is capable of dispensing either Chilled or Boiling Water, providing water that is hot enough for Coffee, Tea, Soups and other hot drinks.

Gloucester, UK (PRWEB) December 6, 2007

Formed in March 2004 as a reaction to onerous water cooler rental contracts Water Coolers Direct offers UK businesses and homeowners the option of buying a water cooler outright. Water Coolers Direct has sold over 4,500 coolers to over 7,000 customers leading to the company becoming a market leader in just 3½ years. Working with the likes of 'Thames Valley Health Authority', 'Havana International Bank', 'Mowlem Technical Services' and 'Westminster School Library' the company also has over 1,000 valued home customers.

In 1975 Zip introduced the world to the very first instant boiling water heaters as we know them today. No more waiting for water to boil in your kettle or Urn. Touch the tap and out it poured -- boiling water, a cupful or a pot full at a time. Millions of people world-wide now use a Zip daily for tea, coffee and cooking. Hospitals in Singapore, naval bases in the United Kingdom, universities in China, the Sydney Opera House and Number Ten Downing Street now have one thing in common - all enjoy the convenience of Zip instant boiling water in their kitchens.

Fred Cairns Palmer, Managing Director, WaterCoolersDirect. com Ltd said; "We have great hopes for the ZIP Hydro Tap (http://www. watercoolersdirect. com/hydrotaps/) the system is capable of dispensing 80 cups of boiling water and 100 glasses of chilled water per hour and is ideal for both home and office use." he goes on to comment that ". although the system is on the expensive side we calculate that the savings on bottled water purchasing and on the running of a kettle or Urn pay for the system within a year."

The Zip HydroTap is three times more efficient than an urn and much more efficient than a kettle in normal use. There are 2 choices of 'sleep mode' that can be set to power down the unit after 2 or 4 hours inactivity, you can also set the system to power up or down at predetermined times during the day. To avoid waste the tap will dispense water for no more than 15 seconds.

The Zip HydroTap removes the need for cumbersome kettles and urns or the associated clumsy and dangerous power cables, the system also avoids the need for annual portable appliance testing. Cool to the touch the tap is fitted with a child proof safety lock which requires an adult to operate. The base of the Zip HydroTap doubles as a safety tray equipped with a leak detector that closes down the unit to prevent water spillage; the system is also fitted with Boil dry protection.

"The key selling point of the ZIP Hydro Tap is that it can dispense Chilled & Boiling Water that can be adjusted to 98ºC." says Pete Glanville Operations Director of WaterCoolersDirect. com Ltd ".that's hot enough to make cups of coffee and can even make tea, something that many systems of this type are unable to achieve."

The innovative tap is designed for ease of use the operating lever has 2 non slip touch pads, showing red for boiling water and blue for chilled. The tap maybe installed at either the sink or in the middle of the work surface using the unique tap font which drains to waste.

Martin Booth the Sales Director of Water Coolers Direct said "We have added greater value to the ZIP HydroTap by packaging it with the BRITA AquaQuell water filter to combat any issues with scale that can effect water systems that heat water in this way." he goes on to add ".We are excited about the opportunity and can envisage expanding our range to feature more and more products that fit within the kitchen environment moving forward."

Hays, Kansas, September 2002 - EnerSys Inc., a world leader in providing stored DC power products, systems and services, has achieved STAR status from the Occupational Safety and Health AdministrationÂ’s (OSHA) Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) at its Hays, Kansas facility. STAR status is the highest commendation given under the VPP for sustained excellence in all areas of safety and health management systems.

EnerSysÂ’ Hays plant is the first battery manufacturing site in the United States and the third facility in the state of Kansas to advance to STAR status. Currently, only one percent of American businesses have attained STAR status. OSHA first recognized the Hays facility for industry leading safety and health management systems in 1998 by awarding it MERIT status, which Hays maintained until the recent advance to STAR status.

The facility attained STAR status by going beyond OSHAÂ’s safety and health management standards, implementing cooperative programs between managers and employees to reduce accidents and eliminate safety hazards. These programs resulted in injury and illness rates lower than the industry average.

Remarkable New Yeast Control Formula Introduced by Top of the World Distributors®

Newly developed Candida Complex formula assists the body in restoring and maintaining a healthy internal bacterial balance.

Union City, TN (PRWEB) August 3, 2010

Top of the World Distributors®, owner and distributor of the RaNisa Naturals line of health supplements (http://www. toploss. com) and personal care items, announced today the introduction of Candida Complex. Formulated with the assistance of physicians, this new yeast control product was developed to specifically fight the strongest strains of candida (http://www. toploss. com) yeast. Candida Complex contains a combination of natural herbs, plants and digestive enzymes that assists in restoring and maintaining the body’s bacterial balance.

“Candida Complex was developed based on our customers’ need for a powerful yet more natural treatment for yeast overgrowth,” says Lisa Roney, President of Top of the World Distributors. “The ingredients in this new product far surpass those found in traditional probiotics (http://www. toploss. com) and yeast control formulas. We are excited to introduce Candida Complex as we feel it is one of the most effective products of its kind in the nutritional supplement industry.”

Candida Complex contains the natural ingredient caprylic acid which is highly recognized as one of the most potent yeast-fighting substances in nature. Caprylic acid is derived from coconut oil and is fat soluble, meaning it does not dissolve in water like traditional yeast-fighting ingredients and can reach candida cells with greater success. Other beneficial ingredients include oregano and black walnut hull, both strong antifungals used to combat yeast overgrowth and prevent it from reoccurring.

The company states that the combination of these natural ingredients could benefit those who do not see results with typical yeast control products. Since yeast overgrowth can include a variety of symptoms such as fatigue, lethargy, difficulty losing weight, mild depression, muscle aches and weakness, painful joints, bloating, and persistent vaginal itch or burning, the company provides a list of common symptoms on their website and in their advertising campaigns to help others recognize common indications of excess yeast. Top of the World Distributors carefully formulated the Candida Complex to alleviate these symptoms and maintain a healthy yeast balance when taken on a regular basis.
