DYSTRICK DESIGN AND AYERA TECHNOLOGIES JOIN FORCES TO DEVELOP NEW ONLINE PRESENCE FOR HEALTH STRATEGIES GROUP

New web site provides healthcare executives with easy access to HSG's broad range of online research reports and analytical tools

(PRWEB) November 6, 2003

CAMPBELL, Calif., November 4, 2003 - dystrick design, Inc., a creative design, communications, and business process provider, and Ayera Technologies, Inc., (www. ayera. com) a software development and hosting company, have announced the launch of a new corporate web presence for Health Strategies Group, Inc. (HSG). The new site (www. healthstrategies. com) provides HSG with unique document management capabilities for its subscriber-based information services.

The web site is specifically designed for the strategic information needs of pharmaceutical and biotech executives who need easy navigation of HSG's broad range of research reports and online analytical tools. dystrick's and Ayera's creation of a supporting content management system (CMS) to manage and update the site will substantially reduce HSG's costs in managing its online publication system while offering greater quality control and flexibility in a fast-changing and demanding service environment. "We turned to dystrick and Ayera for a dynamic web-based information delivery system that allows our multiple research services the flexibility each needed to present unique content and analysis," said Dee Prince, co-founder and principal of Health Strategies Group. "Health Strategies has long been unique in our research capabilities and presentation services for pharma clients and this web site will further differentiate us from other consultancies."

"The site offered a design challenge," said Mike Martinez, chief design officer for dystrick. "It needed to be designed so that it was easy for HSG's clients to quickly navigate the services they subscribe to as well as access information on other services they may need. In addition, we had to create well-designed navigation paths for first time visitors who may not be familiar with HSG and their service groupings."

"Developing HSG's new site from the ground up allowed us to create an incredibly flexible and powerful solution for posting and delivering secured content to their customers," said Mathew Ford, president and CEO of Ayera Technologies. "Ayera's expertise in backend functionality combined with dystrick's expertise in defining the specific business strategy created an effective solution, managed through one easy-to-use central web application."

Agave Nectar Sweetener a Healthy Alternative to Sugar

Agave Nectar Sweetener a Healthy Alternative to Sugar

Preferred by chefs and recommended by doctors, Xagave’s agave nectar sweetener provides a healthy alternative to sugar.

Salt Lake City, Utah (PRWEB) November 21, 2009

Agave nectar sweetener provides a healthy alternative to sugar. The organic and all natural sweetener is well known for great taste and a favorite among professional chefs. Stephen Richards, President and CEO comments “Xagave is the only agave sweetener that has been able to extract the amazingly healthful inulin from the blue agave plant and infuse it with the calcium-rich white agave.” Steven goes on to say “Inulin is a water-soluble dietary fiber that is capable of moderating blood sugar levels, boosting the immune system, increasing calcium absorption, increasing bone density, reducing risk of colon cancer, and improving digestive health, among other things.” Mr. Richards adds “The agave nectar sweetener provides a filling effect which will satisfy your appetite making it a useful tool for weight loss and weight management.”

A recent study from the American Heart Association recommends limiting the consumption of added sugars. The AHA study recommends most women should consume no more than 100 calories of added sugars per day and most men, no more than 150 calories per day. The average American consumes 22.5 teaspoons or 355 calories of added sugar per day.

For those looking to cut back on sugar, agave nectar is the perfect all natural sugar replacement. Artificial sweeteners such as saccharin, sucralose, and aspartame have a low calorie count however the chemicals in these engineered products are questionable at best and not recommended for cooking. Natural sweeteners like honey and molasses are chemical-free, but their glycemic index, calorie count, and specific taste make them a poor replacement for sugar. Alternative natural sweeteners such as Stevia and Lo Han are limited in their application and are often difficult to use. The all natural agave nectar (http://www. xagave. com/) provides the best of all worlds. In addition to a low glycemic index (30 to 35) and significant calorie savings, the health advantages from the inulin-infused agave nectar are unmatched by any sugar or sugar replacement.

Xagave is truly where delicious meets nutritious, the natural sweetener is sweeter than sugar, very versatile and can easily be used as a complete sugar replacement. The pure agave nectar provides excellent cooking qualities. Unlike other sweeteners, Xagave actually enhances the flavor of foods. Xagave can be used for cooking, canning and baking or as a table top sweetener for cereal, coffee or tea. To help others take advantage of the nutritious health benefits of agave nectar Mr. Richards published “Delicious Meets Nutritious” a compilation of recipes; how to cook, can and bake with agave nectar and whole grains. The Delicious Meets Nutritious cookbook has been well received with over 5,000 copies sold this year, one of the signature recipes in the agave nectar cookbook features a delicious whole grain carrot cake that is over 3,000 calories less than its sugar and white flour counterpart.

Xagave is truly in a class of its own and the only agave nectar sweetener to combine all the health benefits of both white and blue agave nectar with an amazingly great taste.

Merrimack Pharmaceuticals and sanofi-aventis Initiate Enrollment in a Phase 2 Combination Study of MM-121 and exemestane in Breast Cancer

Merrimack Pharmaceuticals and sanofi-aventis Initiate Enrollment in a Phase 2 Combination Study of MM-121 and exemestane in Breast Cancer

The trial, enrolling patients at multiple centers across the United States, is part of a broad Phase 2 program for MM-121 launched by Merrimack and sanofi-aventis this year

Cambridge, MA (PRWEB) July 22, 2010

Merrimack Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and sanofi-aventis announced today that the first patient has received an initial dose in a Phase 2 randomized double blind clinical study combining MM-121 (http://www. merrimackpharma. com/pipeline/mm121.html) with exemestane (Aromasin®) in breast cancer patients.

MM-121, Merrimack’s lead oncology therapeutic candidate, is an antibody designed to block signaling of ErbB3. ErbB3 is a key mediator of the ErbB pathway, a pathway believed to play a critical role in cancer cell growth. Exemestane is an oral steroidal aromatase inhibitor.

“Estrogen deprivation strategies with drugs such as tamoxifen and exemestane, have proved to be very effective treatments in hormone sensitive breast cancer but in many instances a patient’s cancer develops resistance to this type of treatment. This study seeks to explore the hypothesis that ErbB3 may play a role in driving this acquired form of resistance and that by combining MM-121 with exemestane, we may be able to mitigate against it,” said Victor Moyo, M. D., Vice President of Clinical Investigation at Merrimack.

The Phase 2 study will evaluate whether the combination of MM-121 and exemestane is more effective than exemestane alone in postmenopausal women with locally advanced or metastatic estrogen receptor positive (ER+) and/or progesterone receptor positive (PR+), HER2-negative breast cancer. The Pasco-Pinellas Cancer Center, one of multiple study sites participating in this trial, enrolled the first patient. Dr. Michaela Higgins, breast cancer researcher at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Cancer Center is the principal investigator for the trial.

“A major goal of our breast cancer program is to improve the outcomes of women with ER+ breast cancer,” said Dr. Paul Goss, director of the breast program at MGH and a global clinical research leader in the treatment of breast cancer.

MM-121 is a monoclonal antibody designed to block signaling of the ErbB3 receptor. ErbB3 is a member of the ErbB family consisting of four different receptors, EGFR (a. k.a. ErbB1), ErbB2 (Her2), ErbB3 (Her3) and ErbB4 (Her4). These receptors play a critical role in cancer signaling. MM-121 was the first engineered antibody that emerged from Merrimack’s Network Biology (http://www. merrimackpharma. com/rd/networkBiology. html) platform, as well as the first selective ErbB3 antagonist to enter human clinical development. A Phase 1/2 study evaluating MM-121 in combination with erlotinib (Tarceva®) is ongoing in patients with non-small cell lung cancer, as well as a Phase 1 dose escalation trial testing the safety and pharmacokinetics of MM-121. Preclinical data exhibiting MM-121’s impact on multiple cancer models were presented at the 2010 annual meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research.

Merrimack and sanofi-aventis entered into an exclusive, global collaboration and licensing agreement for MM-121 in 2009.

Photo Pros Selected by the San Diego Padres for Photography at PETCO Park

Photo Pros Selected by the San Diego Padres for Photography at PETCO Park

Photo Pros has been selected by the San Diego Padres for photography services at the 115th Annual International Association of Chiefs of Police "Host Chief's Night" to be held at PETCO Park on November 10th.

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) November 8, 2008

With a planned attendance of 8000 chiefs of police at PETCO Park on the evening of November 10th, San Diego Padres PETCO Park Events wanted a clever souvenir to leave with their guests. So they hired Photo Pros to photograph guests and instantly print souvenir photographs at the private event.

Capitalizing on a recent trend, the PETCO Park Events coordinator approached the Southern California photography firm Photo Pros to offer photo favors at their special event. Photo Pros was selected because of their capability to produce high-speed prints on a large scale.

Photo Pros owner Robert Duron explains, "Photo Pros edges out the competition because of our capability to produce a large quantity of superior images in a short window of time with a professional, experienced staff and cutting-edge technology."

The Southern California event photographers will utilize green screen technology at the Padres event, and dye-sublimation printers will print professional quality 5-by-7-inch portraits in 15 seconds. Images will depict guests in front of the San Diego skyline and on San Diego beaches, and the photographs will be sponsored by AT&T.

The "Host Chief's Night" event is a highlight of the 115th International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) annual conference and exposition to be held in San Diego from November 8-12, 2008. In addition to the photo favors provided by Photo Pros, the guests will enjoy games on the playing field of PETCO Park such as batting cages, speed pitch, and a surf simulator, with musical entertainment to be provided by the Island Fever Band.

The high demand for Duron to provide event photography services and photo favor printing services indicates a growing trend. Duron believes that he and his event photographers capture emotion, personality and excitement in each image that they create, distinguishing Photo Pros from other, less personalized event souvenirs.

Duron has more than 25 years of experience in the commercial and event photography industries. Photo Pros' professional portfolio includes events at the Rose Bowl, the Playboy Mansion, and the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific, as well as photography work for such magazines as ELLE, GQ, Men's Health and Shape.

How Presidential Candidates Can Project Their Best Energies

How Presidential Candidates Can Project Their Best Energies

Presidental candidates are offered advice from "America"s Energy Expert" about how to project themselves as "high-energy" leaders.

(PRWEB) October 7, 2004

During last weekÂ’s Presidential debates President Bush was criticized for scowling while John Kerry was speaking. Why did this have such a negative effect? The audience was able to judge the PresidentÂ’s energy level. What was he projecting? Why did it work against him?

First, he was giving his power (energy) away to his opponent. By focusing on Kerry’s remarks, he was giving them attention. There is a saying, “Where you put your attention your energy follows.” The President should have focused on his own remarks. Second, when the President showed his anger at Kerry’s remarks, even the TV audience could feel his energy level go down. Negative thoughts and emotions lower a person’s vibration. Third, people want a leader who is in control of their thoughts, emotions, and words. When a person is in a negative state their physical, mental, and emotional states are lowered.

“America’s Energy Expert”, Barbara Gray, author of Energy Management, How To Increase Your Positive Energy Levels and Secrets of Energy, gives the two candidates the following advice to send out powerful, high vibrating thoughts, feelings, and emotions.

(1) Before the debate the candidates should eat especially high-energy foods; they should drink lots of water. Water is the highest energy conductor. The cameras can actually pick up a personÂ’s energy level. Look closely at a personÂ’s outline and you can see white light emanating. The size and clearness of that white light indicates their health and energy level.

(2) During the debate the candidates should breath smoothly to harmonize all of their energies.

(3) Neurologists have proven that by either moving the eyes or the tongue from side to side, a person can utilize both sides of their brain and do whole brain thinking.

(3) Words have an energy level. Speechwriters should learn to measure the vibration of every word in the speech.

(4) It is easier for an audience to listen and understand a person speaking in lower tones rather than a higher pitch. Breathing from the stomach rather than high up in the lungs makes the body and mind more harmonious and projects a more powerful tone.

(5) A shorter man can project a powerful presence even if his opponent is taller. President Bush is not short, but John Kerry is just taller. Height has nothing to do with what a person is projecting, whether you call it presence, energy, or aura. A personÂ’s energy level is composed of their physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual energies. To be a high energy, powerful person, all of the different energies must be in alignment, balance, and be centered. The four types of energies must be clear. The person must learn how to remove what is blocking their energy flow.

Connect Ohio Launches Every Citizen Online Broadband Adoption Program

Connect Ohio Launches Every Citizen Online Broadband Adoption Program

Partnering libraries and community colleges will offer free computer and broadband training throughout Ohio

Columbus, Ohio (Vocus/PRWEB) December 21, 2010

Connect Ohio is pleased to announce the launch of Every Citizen Online. The program, in partnership with more than 100 libraries and community colleges across the state, offers free computer and broadband training. A statewide public awareness campaign to inform Ohioans of the free computer training launched Monday, December 20 and includes television, radio, and print mediums.

The program recently received $6.9 million in federal funding, as well as more than $3 million in assistance and contributions from a number of participating entities across the state to increase the sustainable adoption of broadband services for more than 200,000 state residents. Free computer training sessions will be provided at public libraries and community colleges throughout Ohio to introduce new users to a wide range of communication, education, and healthcare tools available online. Interested adults throughout Ohio are eligible to participate in the program, which is geared toward first-time computer and broadband users.

Classes are scheduled to begin in January 2011 at libraries and community colleges throughout the state and will continue for two years. A complete list of participating locations with contact information can be found at http://connectohio. org/consumer_training] or by calling 1-855-NOW-I-CAN (669-42260). Free self-paced training is being offered online for those unable to attend classes. Self-paced training can be completed by visiting http://connectohio. org/consumer_training].

"This is an incredibly exciting program for Ohio. Currently, just 66% of Ohio households subscribe to broadband service, leaving more than three million Ohioans on the wrong side of the digital divide,” Connect Ohio Executive Director Tom Fritz said. “The Every Citizen Online program is an opportunity to close the gap between those who have computer technology at home and those who do not, preparing state residents without high-speed Internet for a technologically-driven society. This program model presents an opportunity to set a precedent for other states. We’re very pleased to have developed the project through a highly collaborative effort with dozens of local libraries and community colleges across Ohio.”

Connect Ohio is a non-profit public-private partnership, whose mission is to see all Ohioans connected to the benefits of high-speed Internet service. Through the Every Citizen Online program, Connect Ohio is assisting libraries and community colleges with the cost of instructors, computers, and public awareness to provide training to as many as 200,000 new users over the next two years.

Other partners in the program include the State Library of Ohio, The Ohio Association of Broadcasters, The Ohio Public Television Stations, Ohio Public Radio, Groundwork Group, the Ohio Public Library Information Network, and a wide variety of libraries and community colleges across the state. Computer companies, such as Intel and Microsoft, have expressed interest in the project and many broadband service providers across Ohio are working to ensure that participants can easily get online by providing special incentives to first-time broadband subscribers who complete the training.

Connect Ohio's American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) matching grant is awarded by the U. S. Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration’s (NTIA) Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP). BTOP provides grants to support the deployment of broadband infrastructure, enhance and expand public computer centers, and encourage sustainable adoption of broadband service.

Connect Ohio, a division of Connected Nation, is a nonprofit, technology-neutral public-private partnership that works with telecommunications providers, business and community leaders, information technology companies, researchers, public agencies, libraries and universities in an effort to help extend affordable high-speed Internet service to every Ohio household. New Ionator EXP and Ionator HOM Kill Swine Flu Without Use of Chemicals

New Ionator EXP and Ionator HOM Kill Swine Flu Without Use of Chemicals

Revolutionary Water-Based Handheld Devices Clean and Leave No Chemical Residue; ionator EXP™ and ionator HOM™ Eliminate 2009 Pandemic H1N1 Influenza A Virus in Seconds

Rogers, Minn. (PRWEB) January 14, 2010

Newly released lab tests conclude the new ionator EXP™ and ionator HOM™ kill the 2009 Pandemic H1N1 influenza A — or swine flu — virus with a product that simply ionizes tap water. Slightly larger than a spray bottle, the ionator EXP™ and ionator HOM™ from Activeion Cleaning Solutions, are handheld, on-demand cleaning and sanitizing tools that activate and convert tap water into ionized water, a powerful dirt-removing and bacteria-killing product.

Tests show that the devices kill the 2009 Pandemic H1N1 influenza A virus in six seconds, and beyond that, the products do not require any additional dwell time to effectively sanitize non-porous hard-surfaces. As always, you should read the label instructions for the use of any cleaner.

“The good news is that schools, hospitals, health clubs and other institutions have a new, water based product to guard against harmful bacteria and the H1N1 virus,” says Activeion Cleaning Solutions CEO Jim Wiese. “With just a faucet and the ionator EXP™, people now have an abundant supply of effective cleaner that also assists in the protection of public health and eliminates the ongoing expense of purchasing cleaning chemicals. This is great news for budgets, cleaning staff, and the environment.”

Because the products simply ionize regular tap water, these handheld devices are a good choice for humans, animals, and the environment. After use, the ionized water converts back to tap water and leaves behind zero residue. In fact these devices are among the only cleaners in the world without a chemical-related health-warning label, providing an excellent alternative for cleaning. Finally, the devices are easy to use: just fill with plain tap water and you’re ready to clean and sanitize.

“Testing concludes the ionator EXP™ and the ionator HOM™ provide for complete inactivation of the Pandemic 2009 H1N1 influenza A virus, when used as directed,” says Dr. Stephen L. Johnson, former Administrator of the EPA and an advisor to Activeion. “The independent third-party lab that performed the test is certified to conduct microbiology testing to the Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) standard.”

While the ionator EXP™ is currently available and designed for commercial use, a consumer version, the ionator HOM ™ will be officially available in the spring of 2010 and is now available in limited quantities.

To order the ionator EXP™ or the ionator HOM™ visit www. activeion. com or call 866-950-4667.

Activeion Cleaning Solutions, LLC, headquartered in Rogers, Minn., is a privately held cleaning technology company created to revolutionize the cleaning industry through the manufacturing, marketing and distribution of advanced cleaning technologies and products. School Districts Gather in Baltimore to Fight Federal Medicaid Cuts to Health Programs

Recent Federal action cuts Medicaid funding for school health programs and will prompt lay offs, lack of service to fragile children, and additional financial burdens on other publicly supported health care systems. School districts from across the country are gathering in Baltimore on May 5th to plan strategies to stop these cuts and receive briefings from Congressional staffers about legislation about to be introduced in support of their effort.

More than one hundred representatives from school districts across the country will meet in Baltimore on Friday, May 5th, to hear updates on federal cuts to school health programs and prepare strategies to defeat them. The conference, convened by LEAnet, an informal national coalition of school districts, will be held at the Baltimore City Public Schools Boardroom from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.

School districts offer a wide range of health services, from screenings to free dental clinics to access to health professionals for children with learning disabilities. Traditionally, a portion of these programs are paid for with Federal Medicaid dollars. In January of this year, the President signed into law the Deficit Reduction Act (S.1932), which restricted some of this Federal funding. The proposed 2007 federal budget, which was released in February, contains additional cuts and would completely eliminate one major Medicaid funding program for schools.

Federal Medicaid dollars spent on school health programs represent less than one percent of the total Federal Medicaid budget, but the impact of the elimination of this program alone would cost schools hundreds of millions of dollars, and they would still be responsible under Federal law for providing the services.

Schools provide health screenings for all children and deliver a wide range of medical services to fragile children and those without means. These include programs like the free dental clinics operated by the Los Angeles Unified School District and several other districts. Other programs include the provision of special health services to learning-disabled children, which are delivered under a federal mandate. Whether or not there are Federal Medicaid dollars to help support these programs, as has been the case since 1989, the schools must deliver the services. This puts an immense financial burden on already weak school budgets.

Medicaid dollars spent in school health programs are also the only Federal health funds that are leveraged by a requirement that the local school district match the Federal dollars. This results in a dollar’s worth of services for a Federal expenditure of between seventy-five and fifty cents.

Conference attendees will hear from representatives of professional education organizations, Congressional staff, and other experts and will work together in an interactive session to develop and coordinate a national strategy to defeat the current and prospective cuts. The threat posed by the 2007 Federal budget proposal is not speculative, as the federal agency charged with management of Medicaid in the schools, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (an HHS agency), has already notified state Medicaid officials that it is moving forward to impose the cuts without Congressional action or formal rulemaking.

Sustainability Efforts Lead to Good Works in Orange County

Taller San Jose benefits from the recycling efforts of top environmental consulting firm, TAIT

Irvine, CA (PRWEB) November 17, 2009

More and more of Orange County’s youths are now one step closer to emerging from poverty thanks to the recycling efforts of California based environmental consulting firm, TAIT.

“For most businesses all of that paper would have ended up in the trash,” says Tom Kennedy, of Professional Reprographics (http://www. proreproserv. com) an Irvine-based document production and 3D modeling company.

Tom Kennedy, Cindy Kennedy, Rich and Tom Tait presented the recycling monies to Taller San Jose’s Development Director, Christa Seehan, last week with a check for $872.00.

The Pro Repro-TAIT recycling effort began six months ago through Pro Repro’s Sustainable Reprographics Solutions (http://www. proreproserv. com/SRS. aspx) (SRS) program. SRS provides client site based receptacles, regular pick-ups, sorting, and transportation to the recycling centers for reimbursement. Using the SRS program allows the firm to decide the usage of the funds and be a part of the environmental movement.

As an environmental consultant firm, TAIT’s design, engineering, construction, electrical, training and environmental management teams makes sure to practice what they preach. For the past 40 years TAIT has made providing innovative solutions their forte. Weekly in-house lunchtime seminars discuss the latest industry changes and programs. Topics include: ADA/LEED sustainability design, erosion control, and intro to low development and green building (LEED).

“Giving back is highly valued by our company,” says Kennedy. The efforts of both firms, TAIT (http://www. tait. com) and Pro Repro, allows groups such as Hope Builders to continue their efforts in providing youths opportunities to grow.

Hope Builders, a division of Taller San Jose, (http://www. tallersanjose. org) provides troubled teens with the opportunity to enter 16 week paid training programs in construction, administrative, clinical health care, and office administration. Participating youths acquire hands-on skills while obtaining basic employment principles. Taller San Jose has demonstrated measurable results, 92% of graduates with a criminal record remain out of prison.

TAIT and Pro Repro are proud and excited to be able to work together to benefit the Orange County community. SRS allows the usage of sustainable resources to provide a better life for future generations.

GUIDED IMAGERY SERIES HELPS HOSPITAL PATIENTS

GUIDED IMAGERY SERIES HELPS HOSPITAL PATIENTS

The Tranquilities Series, a unique stress reduction program featuring a blend of guided imagery, religious faith, environmental sounds, traditional hymns and aromatherapy, is designed to teach individuals new methods to effectively cope with life's challenges.

(PRWEB) April 11, 2003

Gilead Enterprises, Inc. Launches Tranquilities Guided Imagery Series

The Tranquilities Series, a unique stress reduction program featuring a blend of guided imagery, religious faith, environmental sounds, traditional hymns and aromatherapy, is designed to teach individuals new methods to effectively cope with life's challenges.

The Tranquilities Series was developed by Gilead Enterprises, Inc., a Central Pennsylvania based company that produces Guided Imagery products for the hospital, health professional, pastoral, Christian counselor and consumer markets.

The five CD series addresses the five major emotions often associated with any crisis-- worry, loss, fear, anger, and self-esteem, creating a valuable healing tool that can be used on an individual, pastoral, or clinical basis. The program was originally developed in a hospital setting by a Chaplain, medical doctor, psychologist and Naturopath, with a team of pastors acting as a review board.

"The principles this series utilizes, such as timeless Scripture readings and traditional hymns are very powerful," said the Reverend Donna Shenk, hospital chaplain, who helped develop the program. "There is a universal appeal to the sacred music. The hymns, such as Amazing Grace and Abide With Me, are divinely inspired. The music resonates with virtually everyone, providing a reassuring presence that fosters healing."

Two different series, each containing five CDs, are available now at extremely affordable prices. The Tranquilities Series for Stress is designed to teach individuals techniques to take control of their lives and tame worries, cope with anger, deal with loss, overcome fears, and regain and restore their self-esteem.

The Tranquilities Series for Hospital Patients, developed for in-hospital use, helps patients begin the healing process, cope with pain, sleep better, deal with fears, and ease worries.

Under development are CD sets for Cancer, Hospice patients and children.

"In every life trauma, all five emotions -- worry, loss, fear, anger, and self-esteem -- come into play. Through the use of these CDs, individuals may be restored, renewed and strengthened," said Rev. Shenk.

Through the use of visual imagery, listeners may be able to pinpoint and center on what troubles them. For example, a wall symbolizes fear. On the CD, a soothing voice describes how, with God's help, the wall is knocked down by ocean waves, freeing the individual to move past their fears and take on more of life's challenges.

Environmental sounds, sophisticatedly recorded with binaural microphones, dramatically involve the listener in the visual imagery, while the use of aromatherapy enhances the experience.

"Aromatherapy isn't new. Scriptures have dozens of references to what we now call essential oils or aromatherapy. The most well known is the wise men bringing Frankincense and Myrrh to the Christ child," explained Rev. Shenk.

Each of the components used -- guided imagery, aromatherapy and music therapy -- has been proven to be helpful in the healing process. This is the first program of its kind to draw upon and blend all three therapies to help individuals - and the first guided imagery product that includes hymns, the reading of scripture and references to feeling God's presence.

The Tranquilities Series does more than just help individuals overcome anxieties associated with a stay in the hospital or a stressful life situation. It teaches them new ways to react to previously stressful or anxiety-provoking situations. Guided imagery is widely used by counselors, psychologists, pastors, nurses and in hospitals.

"Patients welcome the opportunity to hear these traditional hymns and reassuring scriptures while they are hospitalized and facing an unknown future or procedure," said Rev. Shenk. "The Tranquilities Series for Hospital Patients is a great resource for pastors to have available for church members who are sick or hospitalized. Churches might also find it helpful to have copies of the Tranquilities Series for Stress for people facing any stressful life circumstance. "

Work Design Collaborative Announces Launch of Distributed Work Industry Association

Work Design Collaborative Announces Launch of Distributed Work Industry Association

The Work Design Collaborative (WDC) announced today that it has received a grant from the Gaines Family Foundation to create a new industry and professional association, the Distributed Work Industry Association (DWIA). The new association will develop industry standard productivity measurements, provide professional development programs for industry leaders, and seek to influence state and federal regulations that help or hinder the growth of distributed work.

Berkeley, CA (PRWEB) September 8, 2005

The Work Design Collaborative (WDC) announced today that it has received a grant from the Gaines Family Foundation to create a new industry and professional association, the Distributed Work Industry Association (DWIA). The new association will develop industry standard productivity measurements, provide professional development programs for industry leaders, and seek to influence state and federal regulations that help or hinder the growth of distributed work.

WDC is an initiative that manages the Future of Work global community, a consortium focused on achieving new levels of workforce and workplace productivity.

With the support and guidance from the Gaines Family Foundation, WDC will now begin interviewing industry experts, developing a draft charter for the new association, contacting prospective member firms and recruiting an initial board of directors.

Jerry Gaines, trustee of the Gaines Family Foundation, stated, “Our foundation wants to encourage corporations and individuals to rethink where, when and how work takes place. We believe companies can reap enormous cost savings by embracing distributed work. And, working from home - or close to home in a satellite office - can have a positive impact on families and communities, such as reductions in traffic and commute times, air pollution and the use of high-priced gasoline, as well as increased productivity.”

Charlie Grantham, executive producer and co-founder of the Work Design Collaborative said, “We’ve been tracking the growth of mobile and remote workers for years, and it’s clear that organizations need to develop more formal distributed work programs to take advantage of what is already happening under the radar. We’ve seen some companies reduce operating costs by more than 30% when they fully embrace distributed work and alternative workplace strategies.”

Jim Ware, co-founder of WDC, added, “While distributed work is compelling for both employers and individuals, there are many state and federal regulations that make it difficult or too expensive to work from home offices. We want to generate public awareness of the need for new legislation that will promote and support distributed work.”

For information on participating in the industry association, contact Jim Ware at +1 510.558.1434, or Charlie Grantham at +1 928.771.9138.

Smoking While Driving To Become Illegal?

Smoking While Driving To Become Illegal?

New legislation would criminalize taking a drag while driving

Cordova, TN (PRWEB) August 28, 2005

A new legislation has been introduced by Assemblyman John McKeon calling for a ban on smoking while driving.

Obviously, a significant portion of the nation is upset about this, feeling that lately, targeting smokers has been the popular, and very unfair, thing to do. One cigar smoker voiced that until someone makes his car payments for him, they won't be telling him what he can and can't do inside of that car.

All offenders of the legislation, if passed would be hit with a fine that could reach $250. The sponsors of the measure insist that it's designed to improve highway safety more than to protect health. Assemblyman McKeon, a tobacco opponent whose father died of emphysema, cites an AAA-sponsored study on driver distractions in which the association found that of 32,000 accidents linked to distraction; one per cent was related to smoking. There were also talks of passing legislation that would prevent smokers from smoking in cars when children were present, but that measure was set aside for this one.

A list of statistics about death rates, cancer rates and any other rates among smokers usually bounces off their tar-coated lungs with minimal affect. They know the dangers, they know the risks, and they know it's about time for another cigarette.

Regardless of imposed bans on smoking, it seems like a majority of smokers know they should quit but don't want to become another statistic of those who failed to quit (or to join the larger group of those who don't want to become that statistic for a third, fourth, or fifth time), and there's always the popular excuse: “I don't want to gain weight”. It doesn't need to be said: Smoking is an addiction. More than a craving, more than merely pleasurable, smoking drives you. Smoking orchestrates the hours of your day, your priorities, and your budget. Smokers may consume cigarettes, but smoking consumes everything about the smoker's life, it becomes their identity.

Sales of nicotine patches and gum seem to ever be on the rise, but do they really work? If anything they are evidence of the desire to quit. So what happens when they fail, but a smoker still wants to quit? If a smoker does not have a real desire to quit, there is nothing that will help them. They must be motivated to quit in order to succeed. But there are ways to strengthen their will power and overcome the things that seem to have an unfair advantage over their desire to quit like replacing one bad habit with another (constant snacking, obsessive behaviors, etc.), lack of sleep or over exhaustion as the body begins to adapt to a smoke-free life and being healing itself, friends or family who still smoke, the list goes on.

Selmedica Healthcare, a leader in the nutraceutical industry, has developed a smoking cessation kit that may be the first of its kind. Based on multiple international studies, tests, and research, the kit attempts to conquer every obstacle that would defeat a nicotine addict struggling to kick the habit for good. Phyto-pharmaceuticals (plant based medicines) have been used for decades and are a part of daily life and health care in Europe and Canada, but have long been thwarted by the big drug companies and pharmaceutical industry. Nicozan™ is a three-step kit that includes a capsule to help naturally and safely mimic nicotine's affect in the body, with the intent of reducing cravings for cigarettes, a capsule for weight loss called “the world's first gastric bypass pill” to help deter any weight gain from habit-replacing snacking, and a third capsule that helps remove toxins from the body and loosen up mucous to speed the recovery process from the damage done by the Butt Habit. Also included in the kit is a motivational/hypnosis CD to help reprogram sub-conscious cravings and impulses to have a cigarette or even the movement of bringing your hand to your mouth and inserting something between the lips.

As the trends in health shift further and faster towards alternative treatments, new alternatives such as Nicozan™, to conventional chemical and synthetic treatments for addictions are increasing in popularity. As big-wig pharmaceutical companies continue to partner with the FDA and politicians like Senator Bob Frist in attempts to take drastic legislative measures to ensure they alone hold the keys to health, more people are taking initiative to educate themselves and ensure they will have the freedom now and in the future to choose alternatives that are widely used internationally and proven through documented research, tests and studies to be as effective, and often times superior to conventional treatments with one glaring difference: typically these alternative treatments produce very few, if any side effects.

Perhaps the nail in the coffin of the major drug companies may be an offer common among producers of alternative treatments like Nicozan™, with a 100 percent money back, no questions asked guarantee. Not to mention the price. To purchase alternative treatments like Nicozan™ from Selmedica Healthcare or any other manufacturer of botanical products does not require a war with your insurance provider. As much as the pharmaceutical company would like to regulate them, these alternatives cannot be sold as prescriptions.

The typical cost for a kit like Nicozan™ which also includes a craving blocker, a journal to help keep track of progress and over 100 helpful tips and tricks from experienced quitters usually retails for around $350. Selmedica Healthcare, like many similar companies, offer alternatives as effective as Nicozan™ for $177. Like other nutraceutical companies, Selmedica Healthcare confidently offers 100 percent money back, no questions asked guarantee, even up to a year after the purchase date. Ask any pharmacy or drug company to beat a guarantee or a deal like that – you'd be laughed at.

Poise Conducts Light Bladder Leakage Awareness Campaign

Poise Conducts Light Bladder Leakage Awareness Campaign

Poise Australia recently reached out to over 30,000 Australian women to raise the awareness of light bladder leakage (LBL). The campaign's primary objective was to educate women about how to properly and discreetly manage the condition.

(PRWEB) December 17, 2010

Poise. com. au, an authority in Australia for health information on bladder problems and incontinence, has recently finished conducting a campaign to raise the awareness of light bladder leakage (LBL) amongst women.

Between June and September 2010, the Poise brand was involved in face-to-face discussions with over 31,000 women, raising awareness of light bladder leakage and educating each on the key benefits of using POISE®Products to discreetly manage the condition.

The discussions focused heavily on the advantages of using bladder weakness pads over menstrual pads, with key factors such as odour control, absorbency and prices often coming up in talks. Further discussion highlighted how common light bladder leakage actually is, what triggers LBL and also how best to manage the problem.

“Although light bladder leakage is common amongst many women across Australia, the topic is often swept under the rug in most everyday social settings. For many women this is a taboo subject with a high degree of social embarrassment. The point of these discussions is to normalise the condition, educate women on the condition and bring to the surface discreet but effective solutions to manage LBL”, said Bryan Win, Senior Brand Manager of Poise Products Australia.

The recent movements by Poise coincide with the launch of their new website, which boasts a range of brand new content on bladder weakness topics such as light bladder leakage, female incontinence and prolapse.

The Poise website has long been known as one of the leading online resources for women suffering bladder issues, and even offers a video series on pelvic floor exercises, a simple and effective solution to improving bladder control. Poise also features an ask an expert area, for users to gain a quick response by a medical professional for all of their questions on bladder health.
