Cleaning Industry Rallies Around 7 year-old Bone Marrow Transplant Recipient

Cleaning Industry Rallies Around 7 year-old Bone Marrow Transplant Recipient

The Housekeeping Channel® Pools Resources for Family Whose Trailer is Transformed By “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition”

Boise, Idaho (PRWEB) February 17, 2006

When 7 year-old Tara Kubena returned to East Bernard, Texas, she and her family walked into a new home transformed by “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” that included donated cleaning products and services pooled by The Housekeeping Channel® www. housekeepingchannel. com.

“Keeping Tara protected from viruses and bacteria is going to be a life-and-death issue,” said Allen P. Rathey, founder of the Web site. “Once again, the cleaning industry has stepped up to support this family who has dealt with so much financial and emotional hardship.”

Since the age of two, identical twins Tara and Sara have undergone several rounds of chemotherapy and radiation for the same form of childhood leukemia. After both sisters’ leukemia was in remission, they could finally go to school and play with other children, after years of isolation to protect their vulnerable immune systems. Tara’s leukemia, however, recently relapsed, and she received a bone marrow transplant, her best chance for survival.

To support long-term housekeeping for the family, The Housekeeping Channel www. housekeepingchannel. com tapped its partner and advertising base to donate products and services from companies including:

•Filterstream

•IQAir

•Mary Moppins

•Swiffer

•ProTeam

“Supplying the Kubenas with cleaning and indoor environment products was essential to bringing Tara Kubena home, a seven-year-old who has virtually no immune system," said Diane Korman, Coordinating Producer, "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition." "We are grateful beyond words for the support of The Housekeeping Channel® for making this important donation happen."

The Housekeeping Channel® www. housekeepingchannel. com is a focused media and consumer resource in the cleaning, motivation, home organization and indoor environment categories that is frequently consulted by the online and print press as a source of factual information for articles in women’s, family, consumer and general interest publications.

The Housekeeping Channel® strives to be the Web’s most comprehensive storehouse of information and resources to help households everywhere achieve a cleaner, more organized and healthier indoor environment. The site provides how-to tutorials, plus news and reviews regarding the latest innovations from the cleaning products industry to improve the home environment. Resources include time-saving systems, tools and motivation for keeping a better house at the click of a mouse.

“Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding. David Goldberg is the president of Endemol USA. The series is executive-produced by Tom Forman. The show airs Sundays (8:00-9:00 p. m. ET), on the ABC Television Network.

Www. Cincinnati. MD is Leading the New Internet. MD Healthcare Launch and Providing Consumers with Better Information to Improve Healthcare Decision Making

New. MD extension is obviously being accepted by the public, www. Cincinnati. MD attracted more than half a million health care hits in just its second month. Hits are being generated by word-of-mouth touting the free help offered in their healthcare forum.

Cincinnati, OH (PRWEB) June 8, 2005

The new. MD Internet extension is starting to replace the. com, .net and. org extensions for all healthcare searches on the Internet (at least in Cincinnati). This new. MD extension aids the public by eliminating millions of unwanted and irrelevant. com or. net search results while quickly searching any and only that desired healthcare subject.

The new. MD extension is the first TLD (Top Level Domain) extension dedicated exclusively to healthcare. There is no longer a need to search through the time consuming, useless websites that a. com or. net healthcare search produces. Soon you will be able to search any subject targeted at healthcare through. MD alone.

This new. MD extension is obviously being accepted by the public, in just its eight week, www. Cincinnati. MD has apparently continued to impress and benefit the healthcare public and in turn has received more than 500,000 targeted healthcare hits in the last 30 days. Many of those hits are being generated by word-of-mouth touting the free help offered in their healthcare forum.

This Cincinnati. MD Website is being offered as a free comprehensive healthcare resource for your health. Cincinnati. MD is the first healthcare website to provide easy access to a complete database of medical professionals matched with insurance carriers, specialties and zip codes. The Website also features a clever daily healthcare news Weblog, a monthly favorite doctor contest and a useful public healthcare discussion forum.

According to company CEO, Joseph Benza, Jr., “Our early success highlights our most important role, being responsive to the site feedback from doctors and patients, to continually improve services to our members and public. We have a keen interest in maintaining our forward thinking attitude toward healthcare and doing whatever is necessary to further quality care at affordable prices.”

Healthcare professionals will now be featured in the forum and they will be answering individual healthcare questions in their different specialties giving viewers yet another reason to come back to the healthcare newcomer, just like half a million other readers who have already visited the site.

World Series of Poker Player Explains How to Turn Poker Skills into Parenting Thrills: Poker-playing Dad Inspires Fathers with New Book

World Series of Poker Player Explains How to Turn Poker Skills into Parenting Thrills: Poker-playing Dad Inspires Fathers with New Book

Mark Borowski, father of two children and World Series of Poker player, has released a new book, "Big Slick Daddy: Poker Strategies for Parenting Success." Using his 20-plus years of card-playing experience, Mark shows how the same strategies that help you win at poker can help you win at parenting. Mark's book helps fathers build strong, healthy relationships with their kids by providing practical, hands-on information that is easy to read and easy to use. After putting his family first for the past eight years as a part-time at-home dad, Mark shares his experiences with fathers to inspire them to better relationships with their kids.

Waukesha, WI (PRWEB) June 1, 2007

Who knew that becoming a better poker player could help you become a better parent? Mark Borowski, father of two children and World Series of Poker player, has released "Big Slick Daddy: Poker Strategies for Parenting Success." Using his 20-plus years of card-playing experience, Mark shows how the same strategies that help you win at poker can help you win at parenting.

With real-life stories of fathers who have applied these ideas and insightful examples, this book can be used at the card table and at the dinner table - at the Texas Hold 'Em Tournament and at your child's soccer tournament.

Here's some of what parents will learn to do:

1. Play the Hand You're Dealt: In life, the "hand we're dealt" is the family environment we grew up in - how we were raised. Mark helps young fathers decide to pass on the positive aspects of their heritage and change the negative characteristics they learned from their own parents into positive ones.

2. Go ALL IN with Your Kids: In poker, going all in means committing all of your chips to the outcome of one hand, which is thrilling when you win and chilling when you lose. In parenting, going all in means making significant, enduring commitments to your kids that will pay off in the long run.

3. Play No Limit Poker but Play Limit Parenting: No Limit Texas Hold 'Em is the most exciting game in the world today because of the thrill of betting all of your chips at one time. However, fathers should practice Limit Parenting by following Mark's four guidelines to setting limits and boundaries, all in an effort to help kids grow up to be responsible adults who enjoy good relationships.

4. Give Action to Get Action: In poker, giving action means playing even when you don't have a good hand, so eventually other players will give action back to you. In parenting, giving action means getting involved in your child's activities, even if the activity itself does not interest you. You'll be surprised at the benefits.

5. Don't Bluff Your Kids: Bluffing works in poker but it doesn't work in parenting. Follow Mark's suggestions to avoid making empty threats to your kids just to get them to do what you want.

6. Know When to Hold 'Em and Know When to Scold 'Em: Mark helps fathers be more positive with their kids so they communicate care and love. He also helps parents learn the best times to hold their kids accountable for their actions.

7. Raise the Stakes by Having High Expectations: In poker, raising the stakes helps you win more money and in parenting, raising the expectations of your children helps them learn about themselves, build self-confidence, and succeed.

Big Slick is an Ace and a King - one of the best hands in poker - and this book helps fathers create a successful parenting hand. Read it and reap.

Autographed copies of "Big Slick Daddy: Poker Strategies for Parenting Success" can be ordered directly at the author's website, www. BigSlickDaddy. com. Or, get a copy in-store or on-line at Barnes & Noble (www. bn. com), Borders (www. borders. com), Harry W. Schwartz, or www. amazon. com.

Special Note to the Media:

What others are saying about the book:
"If you enjoy poker, this book speaks your language! Mark helps fathers learn about themselves and learn what to do with their kids at the same time. You'll be motivated and equipped to 'go all in' with your kids."
Brock Griffin, National Center for Fathering - fathers. com

"Make no mistake, Borowski does have intuitive people skills earned from closely watching competitors around the card table. 'Big Slick Daddy' is remarkably well-written and useful."
  ForeWord Magazine

"In my nine years as a daycare provider, this is the most unique perspective on the concepts of parenting I have ever read. For fathers who strive to be the best they can be, here is your inspiration! This book spells out a winning strategy for anyone who wants to know what it takes to be an involved father in this new era of parenting."

"ENCHANTED SEAS" BRINGS MAGICAL CREATURES TO THE OREGON COAST AQUARIUM

"ENCHANTED SEAS" BRINGS MAGICAL CREATURES TO THE OREGON COAST AQUARIUM

Take a journey into the magical world of seahorses, sea dragons and other enchanted creatures. A bright new collection of ocean gems will delight your eyes in this special exhibit--seahorses hang onto seagrass with their prehensile tails (and their babies never fail to charm); dazzling tropical reef fishes flit among the coral; sea dragons make their stately way through their habitat, trailing frilly appendages. Baby American alligators will be swimming in a crawl-through tank where children experience up-close gaze-to-gator vision.

(PRWEB) May 4, 2002

Experience the magic of "Enchanted Seas" while taking a journey into the mystical world of seahorses, sea dragons and other magical sea creatures worth protecting. This bright new exhibit, opening Memorial Day weekend, displays a collection of ocean gems featuring seahorses hanging onto seagrass with their prehensile tails; a rainbow of tropical reef fishes-including wrasses, pipefish, and blennies-flitting among the coral; sea dragons trailing frilly appendages; cuttlefish hovering like blimps; and moray eels sneaking a peek from their coral reef caves.

Visitors who crave a bit of the familiar at the Oregon Coast Aquarium will still find sea nettles, moon jellies and other jewels of the sea included with "Enchanted Seas".

"This is another fine example of the Aquarium bringing our underwater world up close and personal to the visitor," Aquarium President Phyllis Bell notes. "You'll be able to see how these magical creatures protect themselves using clever disguises and colorful patterns, while learning steps you can take to help protect and preserve them."

Bell adds that the seahorses, sea dragons and tropical fishes in "Enchanted Seas" make a colorful addition to the 15,000 animals already at the Aquarium while underscoring an ongoing message of stewardship and conservation. "We'll provide visitors with information on worldwide conservation programs such as Project Seahorse and the Coral Reef Alliance, which are protecting their natural habitat and limiting harvesting." Seahorses, sea dragons, and many other popular fishes are becoming increasingly threatened by overfishing, loss of habitat, harvesting for home aquariums, eating and traditional Chinese medicines.

Species featured in the new "Enchanted Seas" exhibit include leafy and weedy sea dragons from Australia; spotted, dwarf, cape and northern seahorses; Pacific sea nettles as well as moon, cannonball, purple-striped, "cross" and red-eyed jellyfishes; and a host of tropical fishes, including cleaner wrasses; raccoon butterflyfishes; angelfishes; fangtooth blennies, striped eel catfish, harlequin tuskfish, sweetlips, squirrelfish, clownfish and hawkfish; and invertebrates such as carpet anemones and soft and hard corals.

Interesting fish facts at the "Enchanted Seas"exhibit:

[] Wrasses are all born female, with dominant adults turning into males.

[] Male seahorses and sea dragons carry the eggs, giving birth to dozens, sometimes hundreds, of babies.

[] Butterflyfish sport a large false eyespot and other camo-coloring on their back to confuse predators.

[] Angelfish use vibrant color patterns to camouflage themselves in the dappled light of coral reefs.

[]Clown sweetlips protect themselves as juveniles by mimicking a toxic flatworm.

[] Harlequin tuskfish turn their blue teeth to pink when stressed or to warn predators.

[] Soft and hard corals provide a virtual forested landscape on reefs and rocks, where many smaller marine animals live and eat.

[] Baby American alligators will be swimming in a crawl-through tank where children experience up-close gaze-to-gator vision.

Bell points out that the new "Enchanted Seas" exhibit will replace Jellies: Jewels of the Sea in the changing exhibit area of the Aquarium. Past changing exhibits include Discovery Bay, To See the Sea, Fatal Beauties, Forest Puzzles, FROGS! Clues to Survival, What About Whales, Seasons of the Salmon, Deep Sea Treasures, and Fossils, Fins & Fangs. She adds the "Enchanted Seas" exhibit opens Memorial Day weekend and is included with the price of admission.

The "Enchanted Seas" exhibit at the Oregon Coast Aquarium is made possible through the generous support of KYTE/KCRF, Charter Communications, Burger King, the Portland Fire WNBA, KMTR TV 16/Eugene, Spirit Mountain Community Fund, Sea Horse Oceanfront Lodging, Safeway, Factory Stores @ Lincoln City and TLC Federal Credit Union.

Located just south of Newport, the Oregon Coast Aquarium is named one of the top 10 aquariums in the nation by Parade magazine. Immerse yourself in Passages of the Deep and walk beneath the waves through a 200-foot clear underwater tunnel that snakes through three ocean habitats. Experience an exhilarating sensation when you look around and realize you're completely surrounded!

Outdoors, rugged cliffs, caves and pools showcase the many fascinating fish and invertebrates of Oregon's coastal shores. Discover curious seals, sea lions and sea otters. A giant Pacific octopus lurks in an undersea coastal cave, and cartoonlike tufted puffins and other seabirds make their homes in one of the largest walk-through aviaries in North America.

Indoors, take a peek "Under the Lily Pad" at the Ocean Exploration Station for an up-close view of frogs, newts and dragonflies as you discover the mysteries of pond life and explore the role these soggy spaces play in a healthy ecosystem. Visitors dip into the microscopic life of a pond community and see if they can identify the many creatures in the "duck soup" found in a pond ecosystem. Learn what's lurking beneath the pond's surface as you watch bass and bluegills, compare newts and salamanders and search for tree and red-legged frogs. You'll be ribbetted!

Oregon Coast Aquarium admission is $10.25 for adults, $9.25 for seniors (65+), and $6.25 for children (4-13), children three and under are free. Advance tickets can be purchased on-line at www. aquarium. org. Group rates are available when arranged in advance. The Aquarium is open every day except December 25. Hours are 10 a. m. to 5 p. m. up to Memorial Day weekend and from 9 a. m. to 6 p. m. from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.

PhotoBooks, Inc. Has Become Connect Healthcare

Atlanta-based health technology firm PhotoBooks announced Monday that with the continued expansion of its core capabilities, it will become Connect Healthcare.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) November 21, 2010

Atlanta-based health technology firm PhotoBooks announced Monday that with the continued expansion of its core capabilities, it will become Connect Healthcare.

“Over the years, through a consistent focus on meeting and exceeding our clients’ needs we have been able to grow dramatically from our early roots in print physician directories,” commented Chief Executive Officer, Jim Edwards. “For the last few years as our capabilities have expanded, our original company name, PhotoBooks, became less and less descriptive of what we had become.”

“With the successful roll-out of our powerful CMS platform, Panacea, and the responses of our clients, it become increasingly clear to us that the challenge of developing customer relationships online has shifted” said Chief Technology Officer, Louis Towles. “For the most part, technology is no longer the rate-limiting factor. To use our technology in an optimal way, we have to think from the outside..in, the same way in which any patient will approach one of the health systems we serve.”

President Fred Menefee said, “As a result, we have partnered with two of the best in brightest in healthcare strategy and LEAN Six Sigma business process improvement services, Dale Boylston and Chris Burger. This addition to our team puts us in a position to serve our clients needs from end to end with strategy, business process improvement services and technology execution and support. Given our new corporate vision and capabilities, the name Connect Healthcare is now just the right way to describe us.”

For more information regarding Connect Healthcare solutions, please contact Noel Coleman, Director of Sales at (404) 589-1228 x123 and check out the website at http://www. connecthealthcare. com.

Employer Section Also Fights Unemployment by Educating Companies on Vast Benefits of Hiring Employees with Disabilities

Denver, CO (PRWEB) May 28, 2008

Companies and HR departments now have a new resource to help diversify their employment efforts. Disaboom (http://www. disaboom. com/info/education/) (OTCBB: DSBO; disaboom. com), the largest online community designed for people with disabilities, as well as friends, family and caregivers, today announced the launch of its new employer section at Disaboomjobs. com (http://www. disaboomjobs. com/). In addition to a searchable job database populated by leading organizations such as Prudential, T-Mobile, Deloitte & Touche and Walgreens, the site also focuses on fighting an unemployment epidemic and educating companies on the vast benefits of hiring employees with disabilities.

According to the U. S. Department of Labor, people with disabilities make up the largest minority in America, consisting of more than 54 million people; however, more than 65% of this labor pool is unemployed.

"With the millions of people with disabilities unemployed, this population represents the single greatest hiring opportunity in our country today," said Dr. Glen House, founder of Disaboom. "This hiring opportunity combined with the need among companies to meet their diversity objectives, make the Disaboomjobs. com employer section a highly valuable resource for HR professionals."

In the new Disaboom employer section (http://www. disaboomjobs. com/Services. aspx), employers can:
Evaluate their company's current recruiting and hiring practices and identify the risks; Determine if they are eligible for the Work Opportunity Tax Credit, which according to The Government Accounting Office, has a surplus of more than $4.2 billion in tax credits unclaimed each year; Dispel the most common myths about employees with disabilities; Submit a company profile that specifically delineates the corporate hiring objectives and practices that is seen by nearly 200,000 visitors each month; Search a growing resume bank to identify qualified candidates.

"Unfortunately, stereotypes about people with disabilities are still prevalent in the workplace, making it extremely challenging to find employment," continued Dr. House. "But companies that don't embrace this community are missing out. Studies by DuPont indicate that hiring a person with a disability often results in increased productivity, decreased turnover and reduced absenteeism. With disaboomjobs. com, HR professionals now have a place to sort out their practices and meet their company's hiring objectives."

To join leading organizations and list jobs in your organization, visit the Disaboom employer section (http://www. disaboomjobs. com/) at disaboomjobs. com and select "For Employers."

About Disaboom
Disaboom, Inc. was founded to develop the first interactive online community dedicated to constantly improving the way people with disabilities or functional limitations live their lives. Intergenerational Social Security Warfare Coming

Intergenerational Social Security Warfare Coming

Author predicts intergenerational warfare, as young people, who are less likely to have health insurance or a retirement plan, rebel against being forced to provide comfortable retirement and medical care for oldsters.

(PRWEB) February 14, 2005

Peter Simmons, noted author and consultant, predicts intergenerational warfare over Social Security reform.

"Young people under 40 know they are being swindled by Social Security" Simmons says. "When I speak to groups about the coming generational crash, I'm surprised at how angry young people are. They realize Social Security is nothing more than a cushy welfare program for retirees. They see retirees traveling, buying RV's and enjoying the good life - while younger people struggle to pay payroll taxes for Social Security and Medicare. Younger people are less likely to have medical insurance - yet they are forced to pay to keep a retiree healthy. Young people can see there is no army of children to pay for their Social Security when they retire. There is a lot of anger and resentment out there."

The problems with Social Security are magnified by the generational wave. A lot of the baby boomers are going to hit retirement in the next few years. This tsunami rolling through our nation is also going to wreak havoc on the stock market and real estate.

"The forces are lining up,” Simmons says. "On one side, we have the simmering resentment of younger people, forced to pay for someone else's cushy retirement and medical care. On the other side, we have organizations such as AARP scaring the daylights out of retirees by claiming 'their' Social Security is being stolen from them. It's a sure recipe for intergenerational warfare."

In his book: The Next Crash: Peter Simmons talks about the impact the generational wave is going to have on the United States in the next few years. Reviewers have called The Next Crash a survival manual for the 21st century.

Patent Office Rejects Lipitor Patent on PUBPAT's Request: Public Interest Group's Review Results in All 44 Claims of Pfizer's Patent on Multi-Billion Dollar Drug Ruled Invalid

Patent Office Rejects Lipitor Patent on PUBPAT's Request: Public Interest Group's Review Results in All 44 Claims of Pfizer's Patent on Multi-Billion Dollar Drug Ruled Invalid

In the reexamination proceeding initiated late last year by the Public Patent Foundation ("PUBPAT"), the United States Patent and Trademark Office has rejected all of the claims of Pfizer Inc.'s patent on Lipitor, touted by the pharmaceutical giant as being "the best-selling treatment for lowering cholesterol and the best-selling pharmaceutical product of any kind in the world."

New York (PRWEB) June 22, 2005

In the reexamination proceeding initiated late last year by the Public Patent Foundation ("PUBPAT"), the United States Patent and Trademark Office has rejected all of the claims of Pfizer Inc.'s patent on Lipitor, touted by the pharmaceutical giant as being "the best-selling treatment for lowering cholesterol and the best-selling pharmaceutical product of any kind in the world."

Relying on evidence provided by PUBPAT when the reexamination was requested, the Patent Office rejected all 44 claims in the pharmaceutical giant's patent. Pfizer has the opportunity to respond to the Patent Office's rejection, but third party requests for reexamination, like the one filed by PUBPAT, result in having the subject patent either modified or completely revoked roughly 70% of the time.

Although the rejected patent is one of five patents listed by Pfizer with the U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for atorvastatin, the generic name for the drug compound distributed under the Lipitor brand, it is the only one asserted by Pfizer in roughly two dozen patent infringement lawsuits filed last year against web sites selling generic atorvastatin to Americans. Two of the other listed patents are under review by a Delaware court and the remaining two have never been asserted by Pfizer against any competitor to Lipitor.

"The Patent Office has agreed with our conclusion that it should have never granted Pfizer the Lipitor patent," said Dan Ravicher, PUBPAT's Executive Director. "Revoking Pfizer's patent is a critical step towards providing American consumers with access to atorvastatin at a fair price, which will not only provide substantial economic benefit, but will also improve public health, as even Pfizer admits that many Americans in need of the drug are not getting it."

More information about the reexamination of Pfizer's Lipitor patent, including a copy of the Patent Office's Office Action rejecting all of its claims, can be found at http://www. pubpat. org/Protecting. htm (http://www. pubpat. org/Protecting. htm).

Daily Nutritionals, Inc. Launches Dr. Morrison's Urban Detox Diet™ Online

Daily Nutritionals, Inc. Launches Dr. Morrison's Urban Detox Diet™ Online.

Dr. Morrison's Urban Detox Diet™ (www. dailybenefit. com) launched in January in time for patients committed to weight loss and a healthy lifestyle for the New Year. Thirty-day meal plan creates a healthy lifestyle for those on the go.

New York, NY (PRWEB) February 3, 2008

It's finally available online -- Dr. Morrison's Urban Detox Diet™ (www. dailybenefit. com) launched in January in time for patients committed to weight loss and a healthy lifestyle for the New Year. Whether it's a workaholic executive or single mother who eats on the run, the site is designed to provide users with hectic schedules living in an urban environment easy access to the diet. The site includes a guideline on how to follow the detox diet, sample meal plans, a Q&A fact sheet, a list of permissible and avoidable foods, a monthly newsletter describing upcoming events and recommended DailyBenefit products.

"If a person is in good health they should have a high success rate following the diet," said Dr. Jeffrey Morrison, health specialist and creator of the Urban Detox Diet. "Users don't need to come into my office to be monitored but they should notify their medical doctor of this new lifestyle change."

How it Works
The meal plan allows the body to improve its ability to cleanse itself. "Whether you live in a big city or near the country the chances that you are eating, drinking and breathing in toxins on a daily basis is very high," said Morrison. The diet's effectiveness comes from the concept of eliminating unhealthy foods such as coffee, sugar, alcohol and bread and replacing them with lots of vegetables and non-allergenic protein sources.

How To Follow The Diet
For 30 days, users drink a detox shake consisting of Daily Detox Powder, Lecithin and Daily Fiber (available for purchase at www. dailybenefit. com) for breakfast and lunch. For dinner a sensible meal consisting of 4-6 ounces of protein and organic vegetables is recommended. Salads and vegetables can be eaten in between meals.

Does it Really Work?
Patients who tried the diet for 30 days said the health benefits were very beneficial. They reported feeling more energetic, had lower body mass and lost between five to 20 pounds. To increase results, Dr. Morrison also recommends regular exercise during the diet.

About Dr. Morrison
Dr. Jeffrey Morrison is the founder of The Morrison Center in Manhattan. He completed his undergraduate training at the University of Rochester and received his medical doctorate from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. He is trained and Board Certified in Family Practice and has completed additional training in Environmental Medicine. Parent Care Provides Financial Help for Caregivers and Elderly Parents

Parent Care Provides Financial Help for Caregivers and Elderly Parents

Website provides budget stretching nuggets to steer caregivers and their elderly parents to safe harbor in troubled economic waters.

San Rafael, CA (PRWEB) February 6, 2009

Almost daily, Baby Boomers and the elderly parents they assist are bombarded by wave after wave of dire economic news. Coupled with concerns about their jobs, rising costs and shrinking benefits, caregivers' worries are magnified by their need to assist their aging parents. Parent Care (http://www. parents-care. com) is providing an array of financial assistance including steep discounts, cash rebates, free products and even 100% reimbursement of expenses incurred assisting parents.

"Despite economic conditions, there are many ways for caregivers and their parents to reduce or eliminate spending without sacrificing life quality," said William Gillis Parent Care CEO. Starting this month, the leading resource for Baby Boomers who assist aging parents from long distance will emphasize numerous ways to save money or avoid spending it.

Reverse mortgages is the subject of the featured article on the caregiver website. Written by financial expert Debra Morrison, it provides insights on this increasingly high profile but not well understood topic. She shares that trying to predict whether our parents will be able to stay in their homes long-term might be the most anxiety-producing variable of all because health changes could play havoc with a seemingly well-considered decision. Only after you fully understand the tradeoffs of your parents' unique situation should you make a recommendation.

Morrison, a Certified Financial Planner, is responsible for client relationships for Capital Financial Advisors, a San Diego based fee-only wealth management firm. She has provided commentary in diverse media from CNN, the Wall Street Journal and America Online.

The Parent Care (http://www. parents-care. com) site is also highlighting rebates that may have eluded Boomers and their parents. Gillis relates that there are cash rebates that are underutilized. One provides a cash rebate for everyday items used by the elderly from bathing and skin care, foot and dental care, incontinence supplies and dietary supplements. Most states offer seniors exemptions and freezes on real estate taxes with one offering a cash rebate of taxes paid over the past three years.

The subscription site also points caregivers and the elderly to free goods and services including senior friendly telephones with large buttons, extra amplification or mobility aids. Free or deeply discounted hearing aids are available too upon request.

Parent Care research has also discovered what Gillis terms 'A true gold nugget' counties that provide 100% reimbursement for all outlays made on behalf of elderly parents. "All that is required is to submit your receipts," he relates. "During these bleak economic times, we are redoubling our efforts to locate ways to ease the burden on caregivers and their parents."

The Parent Care (http://www. parents-care. com) website provides detailed reports on each county in the US that include links to the services caregivers need. Subscribers indicate the report they need by inputting their parents' Zip Code. Each ten to twelve page report is tailored to parents' and can be downloaded to serve as a powerful PC desktop eldercare resource. The firm's network of experts also provide answers to questions within their respective fields of expertise. The network includes doctors, lawyers, gerontologists, pharmacists, elder abuse, senior relocation, fall prevention and aging-in-place specialists. These services are complemented by an array features including safety checklists, daily tips, news, videos and book reviews.

About Parent Care, Inc.
Parent Care (http://www. parents-care. com) is the leading information source for the country's eight million long distance (live over an hour away) eldercare providers and their employers. Parent Care, The Parent Care Report and The Parent Care Channel are registered trademarks of the firm.

Have Your New Year's Resolutions Survived Winter? San Francisco Physical Therapist Provides Tips to Get Health Back on Track

Have Your New Year's Resolutions Survived Winter? San Francisco Physical Therapist Provides Tips to Get Health Back on Track

Keeping New Year's Resolutions is difficult, but possible, using a few simple steps and strategies to get your health back on track.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) March 20, 2008

Somewhere between the Super Bowl, Valentine's Day, President's weekend and all the wet, cold weather, most people have already dropped their New Year's resolutions for 2008. You can overcome this by going back and writing down your goals, keeping track of your progress and committing the activities to your schedule.

Whether you want to take better care of your back, take advantage of the snow, or train for a triathlon for the first time this spring, you can. Try this simple plan to get your health-related resolutions back on track.

"Take a moment to write down your physical health goals," says Lowen Cattolico, a physical therapist in San Francisco. "Where do you want to be in the next 6 months or a year? Keep it realistic. Then work backwards."

Cattolico suggests that in order to reach your goals, ask yourself what do you need to do in the next 2-3 months to make them possible? Be specific, and focus on measurable goals that fit with your lifestyle. Then ask what do you need to do in the next 1-2 weeks to get started on your way to improving your physical well-being?

"Writing down the goals and actions you can take makes them real," she says. "Note some ways to measure your progress, like the time or distance walked, number of push-ups, or number of stairs climbed. Commit to your schedule by writing it down in your daily planner or in Outlook."

If you need advice on your current program, trying something new, or just need a word of encouragement your physical therapist, doctor or trainer can help.

Leading Expert In Mood and Anxiety Disorders Discusses Latest Research for Healthcare Professionals New implications for treatment given free on psychLINK™

Leading Expert In Mood and Anxiety Disorders Discusses Latest Research for Healthcare Professionals New implications for treatment given free on psychLINK™

When faced with severe stress, humans are built to survive. While some people cope with extreme stress without psychiatric help, others develop severe mental conditions such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or Major Depression.

Carrollton, TX (PRWEB) March 26, 2004 -

Healthcare professionals will hear from a world renowned expert on this topic, April 14th, 2004, during a one-on-one interview with Dr. Dennis Charney, on the free continuing medical education program, psychLINK™. Dr. Charney is Chief of the Mood and Anxiety Disorder Research Program and the Experimental Therapeutics and Pathophysiology Branch of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). He is also a former member of the Senior Advisory Board of the American Psychiatric Association and a former professor at Howard University.

Dr. Charney believes that with a better understanding of the neurophysiological mechanisms underlying the response to stress, healthcare professionals are able to prevent and treat stress-related psychopathology.

PsychLINK™ Moderator and Executive Producer, Dr. William Glazer, Associate Professor, Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, says it’s important for healthcare professionals to watch this program. “Dr. Charney's work (and the research that NIMH drives) is discovering many new neurobiological mechanisms that will help explain current medication action, and it will identify new avenues for new agents.”

With an audience of nearly 7,000 healthcare professionals who treat patients with mental health disorders, psychLINK™ airs via private satellite and steerable satellites with KU or C-band to sites across the country. Programming can also be viewed on the web at www. psychlink. com or listened to via an audio conference bridge.

PRIMEDIA Healthcare is proud to present, “The Neurobiology of Stress: A Roadmap for Psychiatry”, on April 14th. The program will feature Dr. Charney, one of the nation's foremost investigators in the neurobiology and treatment of mood and anxiety disorders. Tune in for an exclusive discussion on the integrative model of resilience and vulnerability that encompasses the neurochemical response patterns to acute stress.

"I'm really looking forward to Dr. Charney’s presentation. His research in psychopathology is interesting and has wide implications for future innovative treatments of these disorders,” said longtime psychLINK™ viewer Dr. Anthony Giampolo, of Somerset, Pennsylvania.

Social Networking Internet Start-up SweetSecond. com Hopes That Love is Sweeter the Second Time Around

New free dating site for divorced singles. Sweetsecond. com is the web's only dating site for divorced singles. Singles are urged to log on, share their experiences and maybe find someone special.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) September 6, 2006

America’s love affair with the Internet continues to bear fruit and multiply in the form of a new social networking site targeting divorced U. S. residents called SweetSecond (www. SweetSecond. com). And after surviving the financial workout that is the divorce process, the newly singled may be comforted to know that a SweetSecond. com membership is free.

“There are a number of dating-related social networking sites that target members based on race, religion, politics and sexual orientation. SweetSecond is the first to cater to 30+ aged divorced individuals,” Joseph Okojie, CEO of SweetSecond. com said.

According to the last-reported U. S. divorce rate provided by the National Center for Health Statistics, there are 38% divorces per capita per year in the United States. The rate has steadily hovered around 40% over past last decade.

“The best estimates claim that there are around 23 million divorced singles living in the United States. At SweetSecond we believe that another divorced single can best understand and accept the sometimes complicated lifestyle of a potential mate—issues that arise when children are involved for example, and dealing with holidays and custody issues,” Okojie stated.

Becoming a member of SweetSecond. com is fast and easy. Visitors fill out one simple form. Once the registration process is complete, members may build an online profile that includes the ability to upload up to ten images to their personal page. Members may contact one another via email, send ecards, blog and share stories about their “new life” with other divorced individuals in a special forum.

“Movies like Must Love Dogs and You’ve Got Mail illustrate that older Americans have now embraced the Internet in many ways—especially as a viable way to meet Mr. or Ms. Right,” Okojie added. “The phrase ‘geographically undesirable’ is no longer a barrier to initiating or maintaining a relationship. As individuals learn about each other through the online community, they arrange for ‘get to know you better’ weekends or weeklong trips. For the person who is divorced, and may not have a very flexible schedule, an online community is a great way to ‘screen’ someone without a huge time investment.”

SIVECO GROUP & IDTECT Share Their Knowledge in Condition-Based Maintenance

SIVECO GROUP & IDTECT join together to offer competitive integrated solutions in condition-based maintenance to optimise the ROI of major industry companies

(PRWEB) April 1, 2005

IDTECT, the pioneering provider of “web based” predictive maintenance solutions, and SIVECO GROUP, Europe’s leading provider of Enterprise Asset Management Systems, join their know-how to implement a common solution in machine condition monitoring and predictive maintenance.

IDTECT offers systems and R&D-services for OEMÂ’s and End-Users, which will improve the performance of machines in general and power stations in particular. The key is online machine condition monitoring & predictive (not preventive) maintenance. IDTECT's strength lies in the data acquisition and processing part.

Existing or new sensors that are placed on a machine (pump, turbine, motor, generator) “listen” and “feel” it. The information recorded is transmitted to a server where it is analysed and archived in order to predict future events such as wear, failure, or misalignment. Automatic alerts allow timely corrective action, before production is affected. The end-user does not require any training to use the system.

Founded in 1986, SIVECO GROUP develops and delivers facilities, asset and maintenance management solutions world-wide and helps companies maximise their business profits into increasing productivity and reducing operational costs.

The solutions are based on COSWIN 7i, the new generation asset and facilities management software whose modules cover : asset and maintenance management (including reactive, preventive maintenance, News Works), purchase & inventory management, issuing of KPI, reporting tool etc Â

IDTECT's system can be interfaced with COSWIN 7i, whose outcoming solution facilitates work order planning and avoid machines down times into predicting technical failures.

Alerts allow to create work orders in COSWIN automatically and instantaneously, thus giving details about the corrective actions to complete and recalculating the w/o planning. The history of the measurements concerning any asset is recorded in COSWIN.

SIVECO and IDTECT were able to demonstrate the solution technically at Maintenance Show in France in 2004.

About SIVECO GROUP
