Cambridge Healthtech Institute to Host Its Second Annual Collaborative Innovation in Biomedicine Conference

Cambridge Healthtech Institute to Host Its Second Annual Collaborative Innovation in Biomedicine Conference

Strategies and Best Practices for Pre-Competitive Sharing of Data, Results and Costs

Needham, MA (PRWEB) April 30, 2010

Cambridge Healthtech Institute will host its second annual Collaborative Innovation in Biomedicine conference on June 14-16, 2010 in Philadelphia, PA. The biomedical industry is under enormous pressure to produce faster results, while also finding ways to reduce costs. Examples abound in one industry after another of how researchers have gained tremendous advantages by collaborating on pre-competitive efforts, but such efforts have been limited in biomedical research, where researchers often find it difficult to openly share data within their own organization, much less with competitors. This conference aims to bring together a number of experts with practical experience in organizing, managing, funding, and getting results from pre-competitive collaborative projects. Speakers will talk from first-hand experience about what works and what doesn't as the program explores the most important new models, key issues, challenges and best practices of Collaborative Innovation in Biomedicine.

"Given the number of challenges that the industry is facing," says Phillips Kuhl, President of Cambridge Healthtech Institute, "There is clearly a need for new models and approaches. A key goal of the program is to provide attendees with a number of key strategies for identifying when and how collaborative innovation can and should be encouraged, as well as when such efforts are less likely to produce useful results."

The conference program will deal with topics such as case studies of successful consortia and collaborations; strategies for dealing with the challenge of shared intellectual property; strategies and technology for facilitating data sharing; novel approaches for identifying collaborative information and partners; collaborative development and evaluation of new technology and software; and more. The conference will feature speakers with first-hand experience in setting up and running successful consortia.

Featured speakers include a number of representatives from large pharma: Jackie Hunter, Ph. D., Senior Vice President, Science Environment Development, GlaxoSmithKline; Robin Spencer, Ph. D., Senior Fellow, Research Centers of Emphasis, Pfizer, Inc.; Stefan J. Platz, Ph. D., Head, Toxicology & Pathology, F. Hoffman-LaRoche Ltd.; David Cook, Ph. D., Global Safety Assessment, AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals; Bryn Williams-Jones, Ph. D., Associate Research Fellow; Head, eBiology, Pfizer; and Ramesh Durvasula, Ph. D., Director, Chemistry Informatics, Research Informatics & Automation, Bristol-Myers Squibb.

In addition, case studies of emerging consortia-based models and best practices will be presented by representatives from consortia, not-for-profit and academics, as well as executives from technology/biotechnology companies: Eric Thompson, Ph. D., Assistant Director, Predictive Safety Testing Consortium, Critical Path Institute; Robert Porter-Lynch, Ph. D., CEO, The Warren Group; Managing Partner, System of Trust, LLC; Les Jordan, Chief Technology Strategist, Microsoft Life Sciences; Sean Ekins, Ph. D., Collaborations Director, Research & Development, Collaborative Drug Discovery; Jean-Robert Ioset, Professor, Project Coordinator, Research & Development, Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi); Max Fehlmann, Ph. D., President & CEO, Quebec Consortium of Drug Discovery; Mariana Guergova-Kuras, Ph. D., Director of Research, Biosystems International; Shawnmarie Mayrand-Chung, Ph. D., NIH Director for The Biomarkers Consortium & Senior Advisor to The Biomarkers Consortium; Syril D. Pettit, Ph. D., MEM, Associate Director, HESI, ILSI; John Overington, Ph. D., Team Leader, Chemogenomics, EMBL-EBI, Wellcome Trust Genome Campus; and Sandor Szalma, Ph. D., Senior Research Fellow, Research & Development Informatics, Centocor R&D, Inc.

The Collaborative Innovation in Biomedicine conference is immediately followed by CHI's inaugural Encouraging Development of Therapeutics for Neglected Diseases conference being held June 16-17, 2010. Cambridge Healthtech Institute offers package pricing to attendees interested in participating in both conferences.

One Woman's Spiritual Triumph Over Cancer

One Woman's Spiritual Triumph Over Cancer

In "A Blessed Journey" and "A Healing Journey", Author Cindy Cox Shares Her Riveting True Story of Miraculous Healing

Detroit, Michigan (Vocus) August 18, 2009

"A Blessed Journey (http://www. ablessedjourney. com)" by Cindy Cox, from Yorkshire Publishing, is one woman's true story of miraculous healing and spiritual growth. Her life, reborn to share her story, is recounted in a book for patients, their friends and family, and anyone else who should hear the story of God's healing grace. "A Healing Journey," Cindy's newest book, provides readers with a study guide to lead them step by step through the Bible, revealing God's perfect will to heal through His very own promises. Written with a goal of providing a foundation for the restoration of body and spirit, Cindy brings her scripture based message to others.

Diagnosed with stage four melanoma in 2002, and given less than nine months to live, Cindy, wife and mother, was consumed with despair. As a mother of three children, Cindy was all too aware of what her diagnosis would mean to her family. Terror and fear became her daily torture. Unable to understand what her future had in store, Cindy reached out to a God she barely knew.

For Cindy, grace appeared through her dear friend, who set her on a path of a meaningful relationship with God. Through God's healing power, Cindy was lifted above her cancer, and healed beyond the understanding of her doctors. What has been described as a modern day miracle, Cindy's story will bring hope to those in need.

Cindy's books describe in detail, the healing power that can be found through scripture, and the way to use this information. Having shared her scripture based healing approach with many people; her message has brought grace and joy to those most in need. With scripture, personal testimony, and experiences of those she has touched, Cindy is spreading the truth of God's healing strength.

Cindy is a graduate of Life Bible Institute, and co-leader of an Illness Recovery Healing Ministry at Life Christian Church in Troy, Michigan. Speaking often around the country, her account is truly inspirational.

"Cindy Cox has experienced an amazing Healing Journey and she has been called by God to share it with you. Every word of her book and every lesson in her class are anointed to lead you step by step on your walk of faith to healing, health, wholeness and blessing. Awesome!" - Frank Turner, America's first Evangelical Anchorman, Author, ''Raised from the Dead''

"The simple and clear teachings of Jesus were presented in such a way that I could grasp and understand the concepts of the Lord's healing power like I never had before." - Penny Roby, Ann Arbor, MI, Healed of Stage 4 Breast Cancer

"God is doing a great work through Cindy. She is a great inspiration to me and anyone who knows her or has read her book." - Geri McDowell, Lexington, KY, Healed of Neuroendocrine Cancer

Celebrity Doctor, Dr. Cheryl BryantBruce, M. D., Makes Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential Edition

Celebrity Doctor, Dr. Cheryl BryantBruce, M. D., Makes Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential Edition

Beverly Hills celebrity doctor Cheryl BryantBruce, M. D. of Elite Personal Physician Services, Inc. makes the list in Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential Edition.

Beverly Hills, CA (PRWEB) May 7, 2007

Everybody loves a Cinderella story and we have found one in Los Angeles. When celebrity doctor Cheryl BryantBruce, M. D. quietly rolled into Beverly Hills less than six months ago, nobody knew who she was, even though she had already been recognized in Private Clubs magazine as one of the top "over-the-top" luxury service providers in the world. Since arriving on the scene however, Dr. BryantBruce, president and medical director of Elite Personal Physician Services, Inc. (http://www. elitepersonalphysician. com) has swept Tinsel Town and is on her way to becoming a health and wellness phenomena. When you look around Beverly Hills, that shooting star you see could just be the Elite doctor. As if Beverly Hills and Hollywood weren't big enough to contain her enthusiasm for her work, this week she has taken a quantum leap to international recognition by showing up on Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential Edition's Alternate List, coming out even higher than the ever popular Beyonce, JLo, Scarlett Johansson, Tiger Woods, Barack Obama, and even Hillary Clinton (o. k., in all fairness, Obama and Clinton did make the other list as well).

Newcomer to the scene however, this petite dynamo is quick-stepping her way towards A-list status. An entertainment veteran, she splits her time between two demanding careers, healthcare and entertainment. Dr. BryantBruce is also a triple-threat entertainer. She is as comfortable in front of a camera or on a stage as she is saving a life in an emergency room or at the bedside of an ill child. Like Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, both on the Time Magazine "list", Dr. BryantBruce loves children and shares their sense of adventurism. Like the power couple, she knows the joy of adoption and has a treasure trove of charitable works, but she began doing it long before it was the popular thing to do. This lady's story of struggle and triumph at one point gripped the nation, causing the likes of Montel Williams to want to share her saga. She took her lemons, made lemonade and then gave it away as her charitable contribution, in the form of The Gregory Center for Exceptional Children and Families, Inc. (http://www. gregorycenter. org), a non-profit which she founded in 1997 to care for and advocate the needs of children with disabilities and their families.

Dr. Cheryl BryantBruce, M. D. is in Time Magazine for good reason. She is a savvy business woman and an extraordinary health management provider. Passionate and compassionate in her business endeavors with Elite Personal Physician Services, Inc., the celebrity doctor has rounded out her organization with a stellar team. It includes: celebrity spray tan artist Jimmy Jimmy Coco, Massage by Ava provides the MIDAS touch, complimented by the supercharged Hobo Men and Women International, Inc, who are enjoying such wild success of their Genuine Hobo Minies massage and skincare line that Whole Foods can't keep it on the shelves, AirMed International, Inc., the flagship elite aeromedical transportation company, and Dr. Lane Scott of Hyperbaricare, who provides hyperbaric oxygen therapy to optimize treatments that are provided by the others in this illustrious group. Cheryl is redefining her esthetics department with the new name Elitesthetics, adding top of the line products like the Vi-Peel facial rejuvenation system, as well as Savoir Faire, her signature private line, coming out very soon. She is firmly establishing herself as the go-to girl in the area of anti-aging medicine and wellness management. Dr. BryantBruce writes for JustLuxe. com and has a regular column in CelebStaff Magazine.

Although she is a formidable force as a business woman, this exuberant Ms., with an always ready "smile that would charm the cat off of the catfish wagon," does know how to have fun. She doesn't consider herself a "party girl," but the celebrity doctor from Elite Personal Physician Services, Inc. does know how to let her hair down. She has even been seen in the red-carpet Hollywood mix with Macy Gray, Bobby Brown, and the Black-Eyed Peas. She's always giggling with Jimmy Jimmy Coco, and a recent trip to Las Vegas caught her hanging out with V-Town Hustlers' lead rap artist and vocalist "Curt B," who just happens to be her brother. Talk about a good gene pool!

Time Magazine got it right when they recognized this modern-day Cinderella. Now we have to ask, "Where is Prince Charming?" Maybe we'll see them both on next year's top 100. Until then, is there a doctor in the house?

Truth about Exercise - What the Infomercials don't tell you

Truth about Exercise - What the Infomercials don't tell you

A new study published by the National Institutes of Health pulls together a body of previous studies and makes it clear that middle-age and older adults should be doing anaerobic exercise - high-intensity wind sprints rather than standard, long, slow cardio.

(PRWEB) July 8, 2003

You want the truth?... asks Jack Nicholson

You can't handle the truth

  The truth about exercise

What the Infomercials don't tell you

By Phil Campbell, M. S., M. A., FACHE

A new study published by the National Institutes of Health pulls together a body of previous studies and makes it clear that middle-age and older adults should be doing anaerobic exercise - high-intensity wind sprints rather than standard, long, slow cardio.

Anaerobic sprinting types of exercise - running, cycling, swimming, cross country skiing - are shown by medical researchers to make the body produce significant amounts of anti-aging growth hormone.

It's no secret that several well-known entertainers take growth hormone (GH) injections for its body fat cutting, muscle toning, youth rejuvenating properties, but there can be serious side-effects from GH injections.

  Unquestionably "natural"

Natural is always best. And producing growth hormone from high-intensity exercise is unquestionably "natural."

Growth hormone injections are given to children with clinical stature growth problems to help them grow normally. Growth hormone does not make adults grow taller." For middle-age adults, GH can reverse several measurable clinical factors of the middle-age bulge - officially named "the somatopause" by researchers.

The middle-age somatopause is signified by energy decline, weight-gain (around the middle, and hips), loss of muscle, and wrinkled skin after the age of 30.

Researchers report;

"Aging is often associated with a progressive decrease in the volume and, especially, the intensity of exercise. A growing body of evidence suggests that higher intensity exercise is effective in eliciting beneficial health, well-being and training outcomes. In a great many cases, the impact of some of the deleterious effects of aging could be reduced if exercise focused on promoting exercise produced growth hormone."

("The exercise-induced growth hormone response in athletes," Godfrey, Sports Med. 2003;33(8):599-613.2003)

Can you handle the truth about fitness?

Here's the truth. Being overweight causes cancer. The researchers aren't talking just about obesity; they mean obesity and being "overweight."

Being overweight, which is far less than obesity, now accounts for 14 to 20% of deaths by cancer, report researchers in a major new study, ("Overweight, obesity, and mortality from cancer in a prospectively studied cohort of US adults," 2003, Calle).

This wasn't a small, out-of-context study conducted over a few months. Over 900,000 adults were studied for 16 years.

Researchers estimate that more than 90,000 cancer deaths each year could be avoided if every American maintained a healthy weight:

"We estimate that current patterns of overweight and obesity in the U. S. could account for 14 percent of all deaths from cancer in men and 20 percent of those in women."

The study also shows that the risk of dying from cancer - caused from being overweight - is 52% greater than men of normal weight. And it's 62% higher for women, and all the more reason to start and maintain a lifestyle that makes fitness training a priority.

  Long, slow, and boring

Long & slow forms of cardio - like walking - are great ways to begin for someone who is inactive. But don't be misled. The research is clear. This form of exercise doesn't compare to the benefits of anaerobic exercise. We're talking about the difference between kindergarten and college.

Low-intensity exercise is absolutely necessary as a starting point, but it needs to be the starting point and a stepping stone that leads to moderate-intensity exercise, which in turn, needs to be a stepping stone for high-intensity anaerobic exercise.

Low-intensity does not prevent death from heart disease

For years, the gold standard for exercise was 30 minutes of activity a day. And walking for 30 minutes a day was said to be adequate enough to delay heart disease and premature death. Not true, report researchers.

A new study of 2,000 men over 10 years destroys the low-intensity, walking standard. Researchers show that low-intensity does nothing to prevent death from heart disease.

Nearly 2,000 men, ages 45 to 59, were tracked for 10 years. Initially, none of the men had any evidence of heart disease. Exercise was performed and measured by three levels of intensity; low, moderate, and high.

Low-intensity included walking & bowling. Golf & dancing qualified as moderate-intensity. Running & swimming were placed in the high-intensity category.

Of the 252 deaths that occurred during the 10 year study, 75% were linked to heart disease and stroke. And cancer accounted for 25%.

Conclusion: Walking 30-minutes five times a week is not enough to prevent early death from heart disease. Moderate-intensity also failed to reduce premature deaths.

Only the highest levels of exercise intensity lowered death rates.

  Solution - add anaerobic exerciseÂ…wisely

Be wise. Don't read this and go run a 200 meter sprint full speed. Pulling a hamstring or killing yourself to improve fitness misses the point.

Anaerobic exercise is the most productive form of exercise, and it should be a part of every fitness routine. However, anaerobic exercise is also the most dangerous form of exercise. Physician clearance is a must.

A progressive build-up program - from low, to moderate, to high-intensity - is necessary. The progressive build-up will help prevent injury, and it will condition and develop the body so you can receive all the benefits from increasing exercise-induced growth hormone.

Pest Control Results Show That Do-It-Yourself Treatments Are Ineffective

Pest Control Results Show That Do-It-Yourself Treatments Are Ineffective

Treatment results and studies show that Do-It-Yourself pest control treatments don’t work. Gannon Mahaffay has learned this through many years of consultative interactions with consumers who want to protect their loved ones from various diseases and venomous bites & stings. Expert Author and founder of a very successful pest control company called Reliance Pest Solutions, he has consulted with thousands of homeowners and business owners on the efforts lost trying to do their own pest control.

Edmond, OK (PRWEB) July 23, 2010

Treatment results and studies show that Do-It-Yourself pest control treatments don’t work. Gannon Mahaffay has learned this through many years of consultative interactions with consumers who want to protect their loved ones from various diseases and venomous bites & stings. Expert Author and founder of a very successful pest control company called Reliance Pest Solutions, he has consulted with thousands of homeowners and business owners on the efforts lost trying to do their own pest control.

For many people, do-it-yourself pest control has been the method of choice for protecting their environment from unwanted pests. “However, this is simply a waste of time and money, not to mention it can be hazardous to your health”, says Gannon Mahaffay, one of the foremost authorities on the ineffectiveness of do-it-yourself pest control. “You can purchase many different over the counter pesticides. Some of these over the counter pesticides use products with ingredients and chemicals that merely attack the nervous system of the pest. However, once this particular product dries, its effectiveness is completely gone”, he said. “In these cases the only pests it will affect are those who have direct contact with the pesticide while it’s wet. So, when you spray (for instance) a cockroach or two... those two will die, but the 20 or 40 in hiding can very well be untouched and alive still multiplying rapidly”, says Mahaffay.

Since starting Reliance Pest Solutions over twelve years ago, hundreds of people have made the switch from being a do-it-yourselfer to using the expert techniques of a professional pest control technician and are successfully reaping the benefits of a pest free environment. As he points out, however, the shift away from doing it your self is a hard one.

“ Most people will just go down to the local hardware store or large retailer and grab a jug of kill all, last forever pesticide. Once they have it in hand, they get this overwhelming feeling of power over nature, so they start nuking the whole area! Anything in the path of their little plastic squirt gun will be destroyed like an action scene from the Terminator! The problem with that is some chemicals leave toxic residue that can remain poisonous for years. This is a tremendous threat to the environment as well as people and pets in the path of this destruction. In addition, some pesticides will not be the right prescription for the pest problem. They can cause allergic and respiratory reactions if you don’t know what you’re using. So the possibility here is that you might not eliminate the pests you need to eliminate and the toxic residue which may remain on the treated surfaces for years to come will harm everyone and everything around it”, says Mahaffay

He also warns that many people who are treating their property with over the counter products are unknowingly making the pest problem worse due to the lack of a biological understanding of the target pest.

“When using pesticides on ants as an example, you can make the problem worse. If you spray an anthill, for instance, the live ants send a distress signal back to the colony. The ants then spread into satellite colonies. Thus, the ant hills are spread into numerous anthills. This is called budding”, he said.

Mahaffay cites numerous reasons for the failure of the do-it-yourselfer, some of which include the lack of ongoing pest control training and testing, as well as the day in and day out experiences of a pest control professional. He also points out that without an expert technician implementing an integrated pest management approach to the pest problem, the situation will be extremely difficult to control.

Andy Willoughby, Entrepreneur & Founder of 3 Step Plan, Endorses XanGo Goodness Meal Packs for Starving Families Overseas

Andy Willoughby, entrepreneur and founder of the 3 Step Plan, a national, mini-franchise home business system (http://www.3stepplan. com), endorsed XanGo Goodness Meal Packs to support needy children in third world countries afflicted by disease, famine, poverty and natural disasters such as in Haiti.

Kansas City, MO (PRWEB) March 4, 2010

Andy Willoughby, entrepreneur and founder of the 3 Step Plan, a national, mini-franchise home business system (http://www.3stepplan. com (http://www.3stepplan. com)), endorsed XanGo Goodness Meal Packs to support needy children in third world countries afflicted by disease, famine, poverty and natural disasters such as in Haiti.

Listen to Willoughby’s endorsement: Call 951-262-3079.

According to Willoughby, here is how the 3 Step Plan Goodness Project works.  “Our manufacture partner XanGo LLC, has formulated meal packs that specifically target the nutritional and digestive needs of severely malnourished individuals. Those who join this endeavor, become 3 step plan goodness donor partners. They first become a partner by becoming a member and then become donors by purchasing meal packs and then these meal packs are distributed to starving children in third world countries by AmeriCares, an organization that has been ministering food and medical needs to impoverished people for almost 30 years.”

These donor partners actually develop a charitable enterprise as they create a network of other donor partners.  This gives the home based business household an opportunity to create an income for their own family while helping to meet the needs of impoverished people around the world.

Willoughby added that despite the continued efforts of Compassion International, World Vision and other great organizations, more than 6 million children still die every year from starvation. “Chances are you are a lot like me: you have a burden to help but what can you actually do is only a drop in the bucket in proportion to the actual need.  We all have a limited amount of time and resources available to help the impoverished. Now, working together we have a chance to make a significant impact on world hunger,” said Willoughby.

The 3 Step Plan is a mini-franchise home business system to assist people who want to be their boss and work from home.  Andy Willoughby founded the 3 Step Plan with 3 goals in their mission statement.  1. To get at least one member of the family back in the home on a full time basis.  2.  To help families get out of debt.  3.  To help families live a more abundant lifestyle.  Visit http://www.3stepplan. com (http://www.3stepplan. com).

A Different Kind of Medicine Woman

A Different Kind of Medicine Woman

A Navajo graduate from Pima Medical Institute in Albuquerque becomes a different type of Medicine Woman.

Mesa, AZ (PRWEB) September 16, 2005

Nona Mann-Frank knew she wasnÂ’t going to be a Medicine Woman in the traditional Navajo sense, but the desire to work in medicine was too strong for her to ignore. Rather than forget about pursuing a vocation in healthcare, Nona enrolled in the Pharmacy Technician program at Pima Medical Institute, 2201 San Pedro NE, Building 3, Suite 100 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Now the former honor student is filling prescriptions, answering patientÂ’s questions in both the English and Navajo language, and working as a registered and certified Pharmacy Technician at Fort Defiance Indian Hospital in Fort Defiance, Arizona.

It has not been an easy road for the 31-year-old Klagetoh resident. Her commute from the small community outside of Ganado, Arizona to Fort Defiance is an hour each way. However, she said she is happy to have meaningful work, gain experience in her field, and help others. In addition to her training at Pima Medical Institute, the Pharmacy Technician earned a Bachelor of Science degree and hopes to travel to different hospitals and clinics throughout the reservation as a drug representative one day.

After graduating from PMI in 2001, Nona worked at a mail order pharmacy in Albuquerque. While she acknowledges it was helpful to gain experience in her field, she felt as confined as the boxed pharmaceuticals she shipped off. Most of her days were spent behind a computer or talking on the phone. Her job at the busy hospital is just the opposite.

"I move around a lot more here at Fort Defiance and I talk to a lot more people," said Nona. "I enjoy helping others. I try to give 100 percent in everything I do - even something as simple as answering the phone. I think to myself, what if I were in that personÂ’s shoes and had a question I needed answered? How would I want to be treated? ThatÂ’s how I approach everything I do."

Nona admits some of her friends give her a hard time about her education, her work ethic and even how she dresses for work.

"My friends tease me and say I look more like the pharmacy mascot than a pharmacy tech," she said with a faint smile. She is dressed in a dark blue blouse, her dark hair flawlessly pulled on top of her head in a bun. "I dress casually on Friday, but the rest of the week I like to wear business attire. I worked very hard to get where I am and dressing the part helps me maintain a professional attitude."

Nona admits that a significant part of her work ethic and professionalism developed later in life.

"I was an average student and I did my share of partying in high school and even in college," she said. "But I realized I wasnÂ’t going to get ahead if I didnÂ’t apply myself. I made a rule for myself. No partying during school time."

NonaÂ’s mother, was also a positive force in her life.

"My mother doesnÂ’t believe in excuses," she said. "She taught my sister and me that if you start something, finish it. DonÂ’t leave things half done. There is a lot of weight and burden on you emotionally when you leave things undone. You think youÂ’ve walked away from it, but really itÂ’s always there in the back of your mind weighing you down."

The "no excuses" motto helped Nona during her time as a student at Pima Medical Institute. She was in an automobile accident and suffered extensive damage to her knee. She only took off a week or two - time enough to have surgery and receive a release from her doctor. Her classmates brought her homework and as soon as she was able, the determined Navajo woman hobbled off to class on crutches. She graduated with honors.

"My mom taught me that you have to be responsible and not blame others," said Nona. "She had a rough time too. She was a single mom. My dad died when I was about four. But, she never believed in making excuses. When I was in high school she warned me about drinking alcohol. She told me not to give the excuse that my friends made me do it. She would tell me, they didnÂ’t pry your mouth open and pour it down your throat. ItÂ’s a choice you make. You can make the choice to walk away."

Nona believes pursuing an education has brought her a new perspective and discipline that has helped her succeed. Her advice to other Navajos is to make the most of the educational options that are available to everyone.

"We all have the same opportunity. I donÂ’t think there are valid reasons to not get educated. Most of the time we use financial liabilities to avoid getting an education, but if you want it, there are many students loans available. Believe me, they want to loan you money."

Although Nona is determined to reach her goals, she admits she acquired a great deal of her dedication later in life.

"When I was younger I just wanted to get out of high school and not look back," she said. "But now IÂ’m glad I did go back, even though I have student loans to repay. I would encourage other Navajos to do the same. Even if it takes a few years to do it, youÂ’re never too old to go to school."

NonaÂ’s advice to her fellow Navajos is twofold.

"Remember, success begins with failure. If you fail, wipe the dust off your shoulder, try again and donÂ’t give up until you get what you wanted."

Her second suggestion comes from the class motto of the 1993 class of Ganado High School. Know from where you come and there are no limits to where you can go.

Nona may not be a Medicine Woman in the traditional Navajo sense, but her philosophy to get an education, work hard and not make excuses seems to just what the doctor ordered for pursuing a healthy and fulfilling career in healthcare.

Celebrating Ground-Breaking Alpha Lipoic Acid Discovery

Celebrating Ground-Breaking Alpha Lipoic Acid Discovery

Alpha lipoic acid is a remarkable natural substance, with surprisingly diverse and beneficial properties, but diminished by the poor solubility of raw material crystalline alpha lipoic acid powder used in most oral formulations. The 10th anniversary of the ground-breaking discovery of a high-bioavailability solubilized formulation is being celebrated with a free bottle offer of ThioGel solubilized alpha lipoic acid softgel capsules.

Wyckoff, NJ (PRWEB) November 2, 2010

Alpha lipoic acid is a remarkable natural substance that is among the most prescribed nutritional supplements in the offices of integrative medicine, functional medicine, and holistic practitioners. Since the alpha lipoic acid molecule was first isolated and characterized in the early 1950’s, a huge body of scientific research has been conducted to elucidate the surprisingly diverse and beneficial properties of exogenously administered alpha lipoic acid. Standing out among these studies are the German clinical trials conducted in the late 1990’s that demonstrated that intravenous alpha lipoic acid was useful in the treatment of diabetic neuropathy, while oral alpha lipoic acid was less useful. These studies have been confirmed in the U. S. and other countries but little data is available on the effectiveness of oral disage forms.

Recognizing the drawbacks associated with oral dosage forms of alpha lipoic acid, a discovery company housed at the Lovelace Research Institute performed pioneering research on a “solubilized” oral formulation of alpha lipoic acid that would deliver enhanced absorption of the “poorly soluble” alpha lipoic acid crystalline powder. The solubilized or pre-digested formulation was shown to deliver substantially enhanced plasma levels of alpha lipoic acid and enhanced bioavailability in studies performed in rabbits and humans.

It has been 10 years since this ground-breaking formulation was developed and introduced to the commercial market under the brand name ThioGel. During the intervening 10 years, ThioGel has been used by a broad spectrum of physicians, holistic practitioners and a large and growing number of individuals to restore a healthy balance for a variety of conditions. In recognition of this ground-breaking formulation research, and with the goal of bringing its beneficial properties to a larger population, Ethical Alternative Products is giving away a free bottle of ThioGel to any consumer wishing to experience the benefits of the high-bioavailability ThioGel oral formulation. Consumers can obtain a free bottle of ThioGel by logging on to http://www. thiogel. com, or calling 1-800-861-0492.

Gerald Bruno, Ph. D., CEO & Founder of Ethical Alternative Products, has stated that “I am a strong believer in the many beneficial properties of alpha lipoic acid, and am pleased that the long-term success of the ThioGel solubilized formulation allows us to offer this free trial sample, commemorating the 10th anniversary of this important formulation discovery”.

Ethical Alternative Products is a dietary supplement supplier that is focused on the research and manufacturing of a select group of scientifically sound, broad-use supplement products. The company mission is to develop and produce high-value supplements, employing innovative formulations and highest quality raw materials. Products produced by Ethical Alternative Products include ThioGel, ThioGel-L triple antioxidant liver formulation, and OmniFlex multi-component joint health product.

Theravive. com Sees Increased Client And Therapist Growth In November

Theravive. com Sees Increased Client And Therapist Growth In November

Theravive sees largest therapist increase since inception while client growth continues to climb despite economic slowdown. Values Counseling addresses the needs of individuals, marriages, and families in a healthy moral framework towards healing and positive growth. Several cities are already full and more are filling up fast.

Vancouver, B. C. (PRWEB) November 28, 2008

Theravive. com reports increased client and therapist usage throughout all of November 2008. Despite the poor conditions of the economy, counselling through the site is at an all time high. Several cities are already full. For example, Counselling Vancouver (http://www. theravive. com/cities/bc/counselling-vancouver. aspx), the title of the page responsible for counselor listings in Vancouver, BC, is full to new sign ups as of November 21, 2008.

The mission of Theravive is to promote strong values in counseling. This emphasis on values has created a tremendous interest across the Internet in North America and is a primary reason so many clients choose a therapist or psychologist from Theravive instead of a more "morally neutral" counselor directory. By providing a safe environment, where values are disclosed up front, clients feel more connected to the counselor and many feel more comfortable with beginning counselling.

Theravive is the only therapist directory they know of that imposes strict limits on the number of therapists and psychologists who can sign up for membership per city. This is done to maximize client disbursement to therapists already listed. Having too many therapists (a policy of unlimited local signups) causes over saturation and lessens the total amount of client contacts available to each therapist. Despite some cities closing down, there are still great opportunities. Counselling Toronto (http://www. theravive. com/cities/on/counselling-toronto. aspx) (the name of the Toronto, ON page), and Counseling New York City (http://www. theravive. com/cities/ny/counseling-new-york-city. aspx) (the name of the New York, NY page) for example, are still open.

Forward outlook for 2009 is continued growth expected as Theravive expands further into Canada and the United States. Typical slowdowns will occur over the summer months as less people engage in counselling during this time period.

In addition to providing a directory of counselors and psychologists, the site also hosts numerous articles for life and living, as well as a blog available for all members to contribute to. And at the heart of Theravive's success is its ability to optimize each city listing so that it is easily found on the web. Counselors are able to have unlimited length biographies and edit their profiles as often as they choose.

Spelling: This release freely interchanges the use of "counseling" "counselor" "counselling" and "counsellor". In the United States, one "l" is the correct spelling, and in Canada, two "l's" are correct. Because we reach both the US and Canada, we freely interchange both spellings so that we are easily found by people in both countries.

Theravive is constantly expanding. Counseling Seattle (http://www. theravive. com/cities/wa/counseling-seattle. aspx), a new city page added over the summer, is already seeing increased traffic and web placement. Many more are soon to be added. Theravive is an emerging leader in connecting individuals and families to licensed and professional therapists, counselors, and psychologists who uphold values counseling in their practice.

Leesburg, VA (PRWEB) October 21, 2009

Fit For Kids' Sake!, a national health and well-being advocate group today announced their inaugural International Fitness Day occurring on October 30, 2009. The International Fitness Day event was established as the day dedicated to help recognize the importance of health and fitness for everyone worldwide! People around the world will be spending at least 30 minutes exercising and making the healthiest choices all day. It's the day for everyone to celebrate, promote or re-new their passion for health and fitness; or to kick-start a new healthy lifestyle. It is the organization's intent that by implementing this official "Fitness Day" that it will help many people begin the process of making healthy choices every day.

Founder of Fit for Kids' Sake!, Dina Skulte, says "People are busier than ever these days and finding it harder to take the time to focus on implementing a healthy lifestyle. With that in mind, Fit for Kids' Sake! is introducing International Fitness Day to help people stop and take 30-minutes to dedicate themselves to a day infused with exercise and healthy eating choices. I envision companies taking 30 minutes and going for a walk around their building together, or bringing in oatmeal and fruit, instead of bagels and muffins to the office. I picture families and neighborhoods going to a park or community center and having fun races or setting up obstacle courses. I can even see people creating an International Fitness Day Party inviting friends and family to participate in a healthy prepared meal and going for a 30-minute walk. I would love to see the world come together for something that is good for everyone, regardless of ethnicity and/or religious beliefs.
People are encouraged to register and sign-up for free at http://www. internationalfitnessday. com (http://www. internationalfitnessday. com).

Viva the Chef™ to Open First Franchise this Fall in South Florida

Viva the Chef™ to Open First Franchise this Fall in South Florida

Viva Enterprises, the parent company of Viva the Chef™ (www. vivathechef. com), today announced it has signed its first franchise agreement and will be opening a Viva the Chef™ in Pembroke Pines, Fl. this fall.

MORRISTOWN, NJ (PRWEB) May 30, 2004 -

– Viva Enterprises, the parent company of Viva the Chef™ (www. vivathechef. com), today announced it has signed its first franchise agreement and will be opening a Viva the Chef™ in Pembroke Pines, Fl. this fall.

“We are so excited to be bringing a Viva the Chef™ to southwest Broward County, where there are many families who will soon be able to enjoy the unique culinary instruction, foods and merchandise that we offer,” said Gina Martinez, president & CEO, Viva Enterprises.

“Viva the Chef™ will be like no other business in southern Florida, teaching families how food preparation can be fun and bringing people together in a whole new way,” said Martinez, who grew up in south Florida.

Viva the Chef™ will open in the Flamingo Falls mall, at 2010 Flamingo Drive. Martinez said it is the ideal location for a franchise, as the attractive mall already offers many of the latest stores and cafes and hums with vibrancy seven days a week.

Reservations for fall parties at the Pembroke Pines franchise are already being accepted, at 1-866-KID-CHEF

“Viva the Chef™ is a one-of-a-kind enterprise, offering culinary instruction to children in a way that is both fun and educational,” Martinez said. “Every class is a party! In colorful cooking studios bursting with music, Viva the Chef™ instructors teach children as young as three years of age to create tasty dishes from scratch.”

Viva the Chef™, in its first full year of business, has been the perfect place for children’s birthday parties, as the kids don chef hats and aprons, and work with instructors and parents to create pizza, pastas and other fun foods for all to enjoy. More than 1,000 events have already been held at the flagship Morristown, N. J. site, as Viva the Chef™ has become the solution for parents who want to throw parties that attendees will remember.

Maria Maturet of Pembrook Pines, is the new independent owner of the Viva the Chef™ in south Florida. The mother of two learned about the concept last month, when she met Martinez at the International Franchise Expo in Washington, D. C.

“Viva the Chef™ is so much different than any of the other new franchises coming out today,” said Maturet, who visited the Morristown flagship store a week after the expo. “I knew immediately it will make a great splash in Pembroke Pines. I think it is the ideal fit for this community. People are already asking me when we are opening our doors.”

Every Viva the Chef™ will have a café, just steps from the culinary studios, offering signature dishes with bold flavors, including classic Cuban sandwiches, salads and freshly-made soups. There is also a shop on site with unique, kid-friendly culinary products, as well as a cappuccino bar, and a wonderful collection of cakes, muffins and Kimscotti™.

Each Viva the Chef™ will be sensitive to the nutritional needs of children today. For example, as the rates of child obesity rise across America, each franchise will offer a course called Mind, Body and Belly™, in which children learn to create healthy – and scrumptious – meals.

Martinez stressed that Viva the Chef™ is not just for children. There are a number of evening classes and parties geared toward adults. In addition, Viva the Chef™ offers a number of corporate team-building programs. In the Pembroke Pines area, she noted, there are plenty of regional businesses that could benefit from the corporate events, such as American Express, Baptist Health Systems, Bellsouth, Gannett/USA Today, Humana Medicare Plans, Sun-Sentinel, The Herald and Nova University.

“Word of Viva the Chef™ is quickly spreading,” Martinez said. “We now are licensing franchises in 40 states and expect 27 stores to open within the next nine months. A national television show, six cookbooks, numerous culinary products, toys and a licensing agreement with a national apparel company are also in development.”

Viva the Chef™ is the brainchild of Martinez, whose family left Cuba in 1960 and created Cuban-style restaurants in southern Florida. All Viva the Chef™ products, courses and services have been designed to Martinez’s specifications based on her favorite passions: food, fun and family.

Illinois Attorney Says Recent Salmonella Outbreaks Show Need for Food Safety Improvements

Illinois Attorney Says Recent Salmonella Outbreaks Show Need for Food Safety Improvements

Federal, state and local officials need to adopt a system that would address foodborne illness outbreaks before they occur instead of merely reacting to them, attorney Patrick A. Salvi says.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) July 28, 2010

Two recent salmonella poisoning outbreaks highlight the need for federal, state and local officials to update their approach to protecting consumers from foodborne illnesses, a Chicago personal injury attorney says.

“Under the current system, officials react to outbreaks after they have already started. What we need is a system that addresses risks head on and prevents outbreaks from occurring in the first place,” says Patrick A. Salvi (http://www. salvilaw. com/attorney_bios_salvi. html), managing equity partner of Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard P. C., a leading Illinois personal injury law firm with offices in Chicago and Waukegan.

“A recent report by the Institute of Medicine and National Research Council proposes ways to make such a system a reality, and I think health officials should give it serious consideration,” Salvi says.

In the 500-page IOM report, requested by Congress 18 months ago after a string of foodborne illness outbreaks, the IOM recommended that the U. S. Food and Drug Administration increase coordination with other agencies, such as the U. S. Department of Agriculture and state and local health departments.

The report called for setting up a centralized food safety data center that would collect information, identify risks and quickly move to address problems. It also proposed delegating food facility inspections to states, with the FDA establishing national standards for the intensity and frequency of those reviews.

“Every year, too many people become ill or die from foodborne illnesses, such as salmonella, in outbreaks that were ultimately preventable,” Salvi says. “The IOM report is useful because it shows how health officials can shift their focus to prevention instead of reaction.”

Salmonella is a type of bacteria that causes gastrointestinal illness. The contamination often comes from food that isn’t properly cleaned and prepared or is handled by a worker or employee who failed to properly wash his or her hands.

Symptoms of salmonella poisoning (http://www. salvilaw. com/salmonella-poisoning. asp) include diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps. An infection can spread from the intestines to the blood stream and cause death.

The salmonella outbreaks that have recently garnered attention in Illinois started in May.

In one case, the Illinois Department of Public Health reported 90 cases of salmonella poisoning linked to Subway restaurants in 28 counties. As a result of the outbreak, 25 people needed hospitalization.

In another case, the Cook County Department of Public Health reported 45 cases of salmonella poisoning connected to the Skokie Country Club in Glencoe, with nine people requiring hospitalization, according to a report in the Wilmette Pioneer Local.

It’s unknown how many salmonella cases associated with either outbreak went unreported or untreated. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that there are 40,000 cases of salmonellosis reported in the U. S. each year, while the number of actual salmonella-related illnesses could be as much as 30 times greater than what is reported.

“If you believe you are a victim of any food poisoning, you should contact your health care provider or local health department right away,” Salvi says. “An attorney who reviews your case also may be able to help you recover for your pain and suffering as well as medical expenses and lost wages.”

HPM Bootcamp Puts Health and Productivity Management Theory into Motion

HPM Bootcamp Puts Health and Productivity Management Theory into Motion

“How-to” training helps employers create programs to improve employee health, well-being, productivity -- and overall corporate performance.

Denver, CO (PRWEB) September 22, 2006

Cardiovascular disease is one of the nation’s leading causes of morbidity and mortality, and the American Cast Iron Pipe Company in Birmingham, is not immune to this phenomenon. Multiple risk factors linked to heart disease have been prevalent among ACIPCO’s nearly 3,000 employees. They include obesity (30%), hypertension (25%) and diabetes (12%).

“There’s a regional tendency to consume Southern fried food and sweetened beverages such as iced tea, as well as living a sedentary life,” explains Rebecca K. Kelly, a wellness coordinator for ACIPCO, which owns the world’s largest iron pipe casting plant.

Kelly is one of several featured instructors at HPM Bootcamp (http://www. hpmbootcamp. com), a nationwide series of three-day, intensive training sessions geared toward corporate leaders in search of a hands-on approach to implementing health and productivity management strategies.

Online registration (http://www. hpmbootcamp. com/registration. php) is now available for the event, which is designed to help local employers overcome the dubious distinction of Alabamans leading the nation in diabetes and landing in second place for obesity.

Karen Hill, president and CEO of Employers Coalition for Healthcare Options in Huntsville and host of the first HPM Bootcamp (http://www. hpmbootcamp. com/HPMBootcampBirmSumm. pdf), November 14-16, 2006, describes HPM Bootcamp as an opportunity for attendees to leave with a toolbox and knowledge of how to apply various tools within their own corporate setting. “We are pleased to offer Alabama employers an integrated approach to promoting health, and programs that strategically and systematically motivate employees to health achievement while improving the employer’s bottom line,” she says.

Adds Les C. Meyer, a seasoned health care strategist and CEO of HPM Advisors, Inc., a Denver, Colo.-based think tank and co-founder of HPM Bootcamp: “The aim is to deliver 30,000-foot-level theory down to the street for a higher return on investment.”

The university-style curriculum (http://www. hpmbootcamp. com/HPMBootcampParticipantGuide. pdf) will feature an evidence-based and outcomes-driven focus with insights and exact how-to’s from national experts beginning with 18 events across the country. Attendees will be instructed on immediately actionable steps to improve health and productivity and strive for better work-life balance in hopes of attracting and retaining a high-performance workforce, and boosting profitability. They also will learn how to build a business case and operating plan, plus harness robust implementation processes and company-wide performance measurement systems.

A multi-disciplinary approach to health and productivity management is the key to success, notes Kathleen Moreo, president of the accredited medical and professional education provider PRIME®. “For this reason,” she says, “we have designed and multi-accredited HPM Bootcamp for medical directors, occupational health nurses, human resource specialists, case managers, vocational specialists and other connected professionals involved in the dynamically changing HPM environment.” The goal is to provide the most comprehensive and cutting edge learning experience ever offered.

Lee Calhoon, president and CEO of executive search firm Lee Calhoon & Co., will serve as a key faculty member and advisor. After attending countless industry forums and symposiums in the 36 years that his firm has been involved in the health care field, he laments the absence of a vehicle to deliver on the leading edge ideas that were espoused at these events. “HPM Bootcamp is the first organization of its kind to create such a process to ensure that what is learned about health and productivity management can and will be implemented,” he explains.

Because enlisting change at every level in a corporation can prove challenging, Alexandra Ross and Franklin Cameron of Cameron-Ross Partners will work with attendees to achieve buy-in and create the change necessary to successfully implement a health and productivity management program.

Additional faculty members are nationally recognized, real-life experts, with proven track records in designing and implementing programs in their field of expertise. These CEOs, employers, consultants, researchers, program directors and professors all share a common passion: to shift the focus of health care from disease to wellness, thus improving our country’s health care system, corporate profitability and the overall health of employees and dependents. They also share an increasingly common struggle in their quest to improve employee health and productivity: responding to an alarming rise in preventable illnesses related to poor lifestyle choices reflected across American society in the form of heart disease, hypertension, diabetes and obesity.

HPM Bootcamp is aimed at helping corporations realize a stronger return on investment from their initiatives. Consider, for instance, the experience of two bootcamp participants whose wellness managers assisted with curriculum development. An award-winning wellness program at Lincoln Plating generated 7:1 ROI stemming from a 50% reduction in musculoskeletal injuries, workers’ compensation medical dollars and recorded injuries among other factors related to healthier lifestyles. And of the roughly $600,000 a year the aforementioned ACIPCO spends on wellness, there is $1.2 million in savings associated with delaying the onset of chronic illness.

Attendees will continue to benefit from HPM Bootcamp long after the onsite learning has completed. Its PostCamp 365™ Implementation program will utilize Fort Hill Company’s tools and methodology to optimize the learning experience, drive tangible results and create an ongoing community of learners. Leveraging a proven learning process and proprietary tool set, the strategies learned during HPM Bootcamp will be reduced to actionable goals that then convert to meaningful results for the participants and their organizations.

HPM Advisors is a think tank of national experts creating answers to the problem of health care in America. Its training arm, HPM Bootcamp, is the vehicle that moves 30,000-foot theory into actionable health and productivity management strategies for employers of all sizes. HPM Bootcamp is a nationwide series of accredited, intensive training sessions that focus on the approach, design and implementation of health and productivity management programs with immediately actionable information. Unlike anything currently available in the market, each HPM Bootcamp event actually spans more than one year with PreCamp required learning and PostCamp 365™ Implementation and follow-through programs. CLIF SHOT® Energy Gel New Formula Now Available Nationwide – New Carb Blend, More Electrolytes and Thinner Consistency

CLIF SHOT® Energy Gel New Formula Now Available Nationwide – New Carb Blend, More Electrolytes and Thinner Consistency

Plus Updated, User-Friendly Packaging and Two New Flavors

Emeryville, CA (Vocus) November 4, 2010

CLIF SHOT® has dialed up the competitive advantage of its line of all-natural and organic energy gels with a revamped formula that elevates effectiveness, taste and consistency in sleek, easy-to-use packaging. Eight great-tasting flavors, including new Citrus and Chocolate Cherry, give your body only what it needs for quick energy while training and racing.

With a focus on performance, new CLIF SHOT Energy Gel contains up to 50 percent more electrolytes than its previous recipe. For fast-acting energy, the new gel combines two carbohydrate sources that work together efficiently – organic maltodextrin and organic evaporated cane juice – to deliver energy to the bloodstream in five minutes or less. A thinner consistency helps the gel go down more easily.

"I’m a big believer in getting the energy I need from good, clean, simple foods – it’s a must,” said 2010 Ironman World Champion Chris McCormack. “I use gels because my body craves carbs and electrolytes and nothing else. CLIF SHOT’s new energy gel not only tastes great but now has a thinner consistency to help it go down easy no matter what mile you’re on.”

Blending organic fruit, cocoa and other natural ingredients, the new CLIF SHOT Energy Gel formula ensures that all eight flavors taste like delicious, real food. CLIF SHOT Energy Gel has up to 70 percent fewer ingredients than other gels, which can be loaded down with preservatives and non-essential additives. What’s more, the ingredients in CLIF SHOT gel are 85-90 percent organic and 100 percent natural.

“When athletes are at a critical stage in training or racing, there’s a big difference between nutrients they absolutely need to keep their bodies working optimally, and additives that just get in the way,” said Chris Randall, CLIF SHOT brand manager. “Athletes tell us they want simple foods that really work, taste great and go down easily. That’s what CLIF SHOT Energy Gel is all about.”

New, streamlined packaging features rounded corners for carrying convenience and a smaller opening for easier eating. The packets also feature the patented Litter Leash® to keep the torn-off tops from littering trails and roads.

As before, CLIF SHOT Energy Gel provides more caffeine options for customized intake than any other brand, ranging from no caffeine to flavors with 25mg, 50mg and 100mg – the highest caffeine level of any energy gel. The caffeine is derived from all-natural green tea extract, which has been found to improve endurance capacity, according to a study in the American Journal of Physiology.

Available now in sports retail, grocery and natural food stores (SRP: $1.29), new CLIF SHOT Energy Gel comes in six base flavors and two Turbo options that contain 100mg of caffeine – the equivalent of about two shots of espresso or one 12 oz. cup of drip coffee:
Base Flavors: Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry (25 mg of caffeine), Mocha (50 mg of caffeine), Razz® and new Citrus (25mg of caffeine)

Turbo Flavors: Double Expresso and new Chocolate Cherry (each with 100 mg of caffeine)

Hair Loss Products and Starving Hair

Hair Loss Products and Starving Hair

Even if you're healthy, your hair follicles may be starving. Hair is a subsystem of the body, and is the first to suffer if your diet is deficient in micronutrients.

(PRWEB) February 7, 2005

YouÂ’re in great shape, youÂ’re healthy, and youÂ’re using a proven hair loss remedy. So why arenÂ’t you seeing any progress?

Your hair is a subsystem of the body. Hair growth is one of the lowest priorities of your body. Your hair is the last part of your body to feed, and no hair loss product will work at maximum effectiveness unless all the systems of your body have been taken care of.

You can better understand the limits of your hair loss remedy by thinking about cold hands. Did you ever notice that your hands are one of the first parts of your body to get cold? This is how your body conserves heat and protects your vital organs. When youÂ’re out in the cold, the blood vessels in your hands, feet, and other extremities constrict. This limits the cooling of your blood temperature, so that important organs like your liver and your brain will stay warm.

But what do cold hands have to do with an herbal hair loss product?

Your body performs a similar function with the food you eat. The most important vitamins and minerals nourish your vital organs first. Your muscles and less important organs get the leftovers. And so on. Your hair is the very last dinner guest, taking the crumbs while the rest of the body feasts. You can be in great physical shape, but you might still be starving your hair follicles. By the time the nutrients you eat get to your hair growth system, there arenÂ’t a lot of micronutrients left.

What does this have to do with hair loss products?

ItÂ’s possible that while most of your body gets what it needs, your hair is being cheated. This can cause your hair follicles to weaken, die, or function poorly. Many hair loss treatments attempt to stimulate the growth of new hair. But if your hair follicles donÂ’t get the basic nutrition they need, no hair loss remedy is going to work at peak potential.

There are many herbal hair products designed to treat hair loss. You can learn about some commonly used herbs by visiting http://www. samsonssecret. com (http://www. samsonssecret. com)

Herbal Hair Loss Products and Micronutrients

In our industrialized culture, we tend to eat a lot of foods that provide a rich supply of calories and protein. However, our diets are often deficient in many of the so-called “micronutrients.” These micronutrients are critical for strong and healthy hair. They include vitamins, minerals, and substances such as pigments and enzymes that scientists are just beginning to understand.

Your hair is part of the last system in your body to receive nutrients. This means that if you are deficient in any micronutrients, the optimum growth of your hair will suffer from a deficiency. To maximize the effects of a complete, natural remedy for hair loss, you need a hair loss product that provides enough micronutrients for every system in your body.

Whatever hair loss product you use, an herbal hair loss remedy will help you to grow stronger, longer, healthier hair. Herbs are known to nourish your whole body with a rich supply of vitamins and minerals. ItÂ’s no surprise that a high-quality herbal hair loss remedy contains herbs that provide an abundant supply of the most important herbs to nourish and feed your hair follicles and help restore weakened hair.

To improve the effects of any natural hair loss remedy or synthetic hair loss product, you should supplement the nutrition for your hair with an herbal hair loss product.

Seventy Percent of Homes Have Mold Living Inside

Seventy Percent of Homes Have Mold Living Inside

Indoor mold creates havoc with breathing and can lead to severe respiratory problems. There is a solution, according to Ray Buchko, Owner and President of PestAgon™ Termite & Pest Management, Inc., a 23-year-old Sarasota, Fl. based pest management/environmental company.

Sarasota, Florida (PRWEB) March 30, 2006 –

In a recent survey, it was shown that over 70% of all homes have mold living inside. This startling statistic shows how prevalent and misunderstood indoor mold is today. PestAgon™ serves Sarasota, Manatee and Charlotte counties.

“By using a naturally occurring mined mineral, borate, professionally known as Mold/Bora-Care®; which is an inorganic material we can eliminate the majority of mold spores”, Buchko stated. “Borate is delivered inside the wall voids through a small injection point, diffuses into the wood and lasts forever, only getting more effective with age”, he said.

Buchko, an expert on mold detection and elimination, studied mold remediation techniques through the Indoor Air Quality Association’s (IAQA) continuing education programs.

Molds produce allergens, irritants, and in some cases, potentially toxic substances (mycotoxins). Inhaling or touching mold or mold spores may cause allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. Allergic responses include hay fever-type symptoms, such as sneezing, runny nose, red eyes, and skin rash (dermatitis). Allergic reactions to mold are common. They can be immediate or delayed. In addition, mold exposure can irritate the eyes, skin, nose, throat, and lungs of both mold-allergic and non-allergic people.

According to Buchko, “Having mold in the home is a major health risk and everyone should be aware of their air quality indoors for the sake of themselves and their family. We will continue to search for new and improved ways to reduce and eliminate this unseen enemy, returning your home back into a healthy environment.”

About PestAgon™ Termite & Pest Management, Inc.

Ray Buchko opened PestAgon™ in 1982. Today PestAgon™ serves more than 193 associations and 16 builders with over 8,000 repeat customers. The PestAgon teams’ knowledge and skills are finely tuned to handle any household pest control issue. Visit www. pestagon. com for more information.

AP9 Privacy Matters Cautions Consumers About Home Improvement Fraud

AP9 Privacy Matters Cautions Consumers About Home Improvement Fraud

AP9 Privacy Matters offers members tools and services that help protect your personal and private information

Norwalk, Conn. (PRWEB) June 4, 2006

While the warmer weather is thawing out most of the nation, property owners from coast to coast are also taking their wallets out of the deep freeze in hopes of completing some much needed home improvement projects. Many of the projects will take a good chunk out of the home repair budget this season, so AP9 Privacy Matters (http://www. privacymatters-program. com/), a leading security and privacy membership program offered by Adaptive Marketing LLC, provides consumers with a few tips on making sure they get what they pay for.

AP9 PrivacyMatters reports that billions of hard-earned dollars will be spent this year on home improvement projects, and of those dollars, thousands will go into the pockets of unscrupulous scammers posing as home-repair experts preying on unsuspecting citizens. Whether it is cleaning out the gutters or building a new retaining wall, consumers need to complete a thorough investigation before hiring someone for the job.

AP9 Privacy Matters (http://www. privacymatters-program. com/) provides these simple yet effective tips when searching for home improvement labor:

-- If the home improvement project is large and requires extensive plans, before making any phone calls, scope out the details of your project. Map out what you want to do and how you want to have it done. This will help you stay within your budget and keep the progress of the job in check once the contractor has begun working.

-- Do your research. Don’t talk to just one service provider. Make a list of a least three and ask for and contact at least two references. Ask your family, friends, neighbors or even your insurance agent if they could recommend someone who is reputable, fair and reliable. Be cautious about door-to-door home repair service providers – reputable workers usually use paid advertisements or word of mouth to acquire business.

-- Check licenses. A professional contractor should have a license to run his business and a certification of professional competence. These personal designations don’t always guarantee success on the job, but you can take comfort in knowing that a governmental institution has certified the contractor.

-- Do not pay for the work in full before it is complete and avoid paying a large upfront fee – work should be done to your specifications and liking before the final check is cut. You should also have some type of signed contract with the party you hire – even if it is a small project.

-- If you have only spoken on the phone with the person you hired, before letting anyone in your home, check their ID and the ID’s of the entire team. Make sure someone is home at all times when the work is being done and that personal and private information is tucked away in a safe place.

In addition to these home repair safety tips, members may log on to PrivacyMatters (http://www. privacymatters. com/) to access unlimited, online credit reports and receive credit monitoring alerts, which will come in handy if you are taking out a loan for your home repair projects this year and will help you keep track of your personal and private information. These benefits and many more are available through AP9 PrivacyMatters.

Comprehensive Web Site on Sudan Crisis Launched by American Progress Action Fund

Comprehensive Web Site on Sudan Crisis Launched by American Progress Action Fund

New web site details crisis in Sudan with updated statistics, photos, video and reports from the ground in Darfur, Sudan.

Washington, DC (PRWEB) October 5, 2004

The American Progress Action Fund launched a Web site today detailing the crisis in Sudan. The site includes updated statistics, first hand reports from the ground in Darfur, background information on Sudan, and recent photographs and video. An interactive flash map allows users to scroll across various regions to learn about the people, conflicts, and issues in the area.

According to Gayle Smith, Senior Fellow at The Center for American Progress, the site was launched in order to provide comprehensive resources for reporters who cover the moral crisis in Sudan and for the general public who aim to learn more about the region’s ethnic cleansing. Smith is the author of the series “Sudan: Eyewitness to Crisis,” available on the site. Her eyewitness reports provide background on the roots of the crisis, lengthy reports on the situation in Khartoum and Darfur, and an analysis of “talking points” from her meetings with government officials.

The site also provides detailed statistical data on the crisis. “Sudan By The Numbers” includes facts from various sources such as The World Health organization about the number of people at risk, conditions in the refugee camps, and the cost of meeting needs in Darfur. Stark comparisons are offered as context for many of the statistics provided. For example, the amount of money the U. S. government has provided to Darfur this year is compared with the amount spent each day in Iraq.

“Sudan is a priority for both the Center for American Progress and the American Progress Action Fund because it touches upon all of the values we hold dear as progressives – our commitment to equality, our respect for basic human dignity, our desire to build a safer, more secure world, and our fundamental belief that suffering anywhere in the world diminishes us all,” said John Podesta, CEO of The Center for American Progress.

The Sudan site is located at www. americanprogressaction. org/sudan (http://www. americanprogressaction. org/sudan )
