The company, based in Minneapolis, MN offers a full menu of reimbursement and commercialization consulting and support services targeted towards biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical device, and other healthcare companies.

The Palomino Group is comprised of several of the most experienced senior-level professionals from the biopharmaceutical, medical device, and reimbursement consulting service sectors. “Our senior management team offers biopharmaceutical and healthcare clients a level of applied experience that is unmatched in the reimbursement and commercialization consulting marketplace,” said Charles Griffin, co-founder, principal and Managing Director of Corporate & Business Development with The Palomino Group. Our principals have built and managed highly successful commercial divisions of numerous biopharmaceutical companies and understand every facet of the needs of today’s manufacturers and their customers.”

Ever wish you could remember and share all the little secrets and surprises of your day with someone you love? Maybe you need an amazing magic pocket to help you, just like the one in this enchantingly illustrated children’s story! Princess Pippa is a witty young rabbit with big stories about her day, but remembering all these bunny tales isn’t so easy! Her mother, Queen Dazzle, gives her a magic pocket to help. As Pippa skips through her day, she collects all the special things that happen to her and pops them right into her magic pocket for safekeeping. At bedtime, the magic pocket helps Pippa remember to share all the adventures of her day. Pippa shares silly things, scary things, happy things, sad things and wonderful things too, like the shiny gold star the teacher gave her for helping a friend find a lost coat.

Kids and adults alike will love how Pippa shares the joys, surprises, difficulties and secrets of her day with her warm and caring mother. Queen Dazzle calmly reassures Pippa, counsels her and showers her with the loving message that no matter what happens in her daughter’s day, it’s important to her. Certified Organic Biosecur™ Product Line Proven Effective Against Foodborne Pathogens Responsible For $152 Billion in Annual Health-Related Expenses

Certified Organic Biosecur™ Product Line Proven Effective Against Foodborne Pathogens Responsible For $152 Billion in Annual Health-Related Expenses

Independent third-party lab tests have conclusively demonstrated that BIOSECUR Lab, Inc.'s proprietary BIOSECUR™ product line is highly effective against the most prevalent and deadly foodborne pathogens. Conducted in accordance with the U. S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA’s) Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) protocol, these tests demonstrated that BIOSECUR antimicrobial product kills more than 99.999% of common bacteria, including Salmonella and E. coli, just 15- to 30-seconds after contact, making it a highly effective solution for combating even the most dangerous foodborne pathogens and ideal for use within the food industry.

Otterburn Park, Quebec, Canada (PRWEB) March 10, 2010

Biosecur Lab, Inc., a privately held, Canadian-based company specializing in the research and development of plant-based bio-ingredients, today announced that testing conducted by an independent lab has conclusively demonstrated that its proprietary BIOSECUR™ product line is highly effective against the most prevalent and deadly foodborne pathogens. Certified Organic by the NOP/USDA and ECOCERT in October 2009, BIOSECUR is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial, preservative and disinfectant that is safe for human consumption and use, as well as the environment, providing a healthy, chemical-free alternative for preservation and disinfection needs critical in the food industry.

According to a recently released study (http://bit. ly/ctqJiM) initiated by the Pew Charitable Trusts and Georgetown University, foodborne pathogens are responsible for illnesses resulting in more than $152 billion in health-related expenses each year in the United States alone. The U. S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention further estimate that 76 million people get sick each year with foodborne illness, resulting in 5,000 related deaths, making this one of the most costly and serious health issues in the U. S.

Independent third-party lab tests conducted in accordance with the U. S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA’s) Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) protocol demonstrated that BIOSECUR kills more than 99.999% of common bacteria, including Salmonella and E. coli, just 15- to 30-seconds after contact, making it a highly effective solution for combating even the most dangerous foodborne pathogens and ideal for use within the food industry.

Since announcing its NOP/USDA and ECOCERT Organic Certification in November 2009, BIOSECUR Labs has received an unprecedented volume of new orders and test sample requests, predominantly from companies within the food industry, beverage makers with a critical interest in combating foodborne pathogens, and cosmetic manufacturers. In light of this heightened interest level and the recently released findings regarding the serious national health threat associated with foodborne illnesses, BIOSECUR Labs has made the decision to reduce the volume pricing structure for its BIOSECUR product line in order to make it more affordable for widespread use within the beverage and food industry, as well as other applications.

“With foodborne illness at an all-time high, the need for an effective, broad-spectrum antimicrobial that is safe for human consumption is greater than ever before,” said Biosecur Lab president Yves Methot. “Non-toxic, environmentally safe and Certified Organic, BIOSECUR is a healthy, ‘green’ alternative to synthetic chemical preservatives and ideal for use in many market segments, and particularly within the food industry,” Methot concluded.

Biosecur Lab was founded in 2000 in response to growing awareness and concern regarding the use of chemical additives in food, personal care products and other consumer and industrial products. A highly effective preservative derived from 100% organic citrus fruit (does not contain grapefruit), BIOSECUR provides broad-spectrum antimicrobial efficacy and is highly effective against bacteria, fungi and yeast. It is also 100% water soluble, making it easy to incorporate within both new and existing formulations. The potential applications for BIOSECUR are virtually unlimited.

To learn more about the BIOSECUR product line or how food industry companies can incorporate BIOSECUR as an organic preservative and disinfectant to combat foodborne pathogens, visit www. biosecur. com or call (949) 273-0600. Free BIOSECUR test samples may be ordered directly from www. biosecur. com.

About Biosecur Lab

Founded in 2000, BioSecur Lab, Inc. specializes in the research and development of plant-based substances with antimicrobial properties that work against foodborne pathogens, such as bacteria, yeast and fungus. Ongoing research in our laboratories and with leading university researchers continues to define all the potential applications for BIOSECUR. Neurological & Orthopedic Hospital Ranked No. 1 in Illinois, Among Top 5% in Nation for Spine Surgery

Neurological & Orthopedic Hospital Ranked No. 1 in Illinois, Among Top 5% in Nation for Spine Surgery

A new hospital quality study from HealthGrades finds the Neurologic & Orthopedic Hospital of Chicago highly ranked for a number of criteria. The most notable honors are for spine surgery excellence, back and neck surgery, spinal fusion, and total knee replacement.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) October 15, 2008

For the second year in a row, the Neurologic & Orthopedic Hospital of Chicago (http://www. neuro-ortho. org/) (NOHC) has been ranked No. 1 in Illinois and is among the top five percent in the country for spine surgery. That is according to the Eleventh Annual HealthGrades Hospital Quality in America Study (http://www. healthgrades. com/media/dms/pdf/HealthGradesEleventhAnnualHospitalQualityStudy2008.pdf). Research analyzed patient outcomes at all of the nation's hospitals over the past three years. The study also concluded that NOHC is:

A recipient of the HealthGrades Spine Surgery Excellence Award two years in a row  The only hospital in Illinois to receive the Spine Surgery Excellence Award two years in a row  Five-star rated for spine surgery two years in a row  Five-star rated for back and neck surgery three years in a row  Five-star rated for spinal fusion two years in a row  Five-star rated for total knee replacement in 2009

In developing its 2009 healthcare quality ratings, released yesterday, HealthGrades analyzed more than 41 million Medicare hospitalization records from 2005 to 2007 at the nation's approximately 5,000 non-federal hospitals.

As part of the nation's most comprehensive, independent analysis of hospital quality, HealthGrades found that patients treated at five-star rated hospitals for nine common procedures are 47 percent less likely to experience a major complication, such as post-operative infections or heart conditions, which can lengthen their hospital stay and increase costs. According to the study, if all Medicare patients had been treated at top-performing hospitals, like the Neurologic & Orthopedic Hospital of Chicago (http://www. neuro-ortho. org/), compared to the lowest-performing hospitals during 2005-07, more than 123,000 major complications potentially could have been avoided.

"The study confirmed what we already know," says Dr. Leonard Cerullo, Medical Director of NOHC. "We have some of the finest spine surgeons and spinal care clinicians in the nation. In fact, only 52 hospitals in the country have been recognized as being in the top 5%, and we were one of them. To be the only hospital in Illinois is an even greater honor."

About Neurologic & Orthopedic Hospital Of Chicago:
The Neurologic & Orthopedic Hospital of Chicago is the country's only freestanding acute care facility dedicated exclusively to neuroscience and orthopedic services. During 2007, more than 2,000 neurosurgical and orthopedic surgeries were performed at NOHC. The brain and spinal fusion surgeries at NOHC have been acknowledged by many of Chicago's well-respected insurance companies as having the fewest complications. A similar level of excellence is seen on the orthopedics side of the hospital. The total joint program at NOHC boasts one of the lowest infection rates of any hospital in the nation.

NOHC is located at 4501 N. Winchester Street in Chicago. For more information on NOHC, log on to http://www. neuro-orth. org (http://www. neuro-orth. org).

Yin/Yang Provides Alternative Scene for Social Interaction in an Informative, Provocative Setting

Yin/Yang Provides Alternative Scene for Social Interaction in an Informative, Provocative Setting

A unique approach to social interactions where passion converges with intellect. The creation of an outlet for profound networking and socializing among a mature and fun audience. An exclusive presentation by Dr. Henry Grayson, author of Mindful Loving and featured in the May issue of O Magazine.

NEW YORK (PRWEB) June 12, 2004

As part of its ongoing series of artistic, cultural and social events, the Art Alliance of Soho joins SveltEvents, LLC to inaugurate YIN/YANG, an innovative program of social encounters. On the evening of June 22nd, special guest, renowned author, educator and psychoanalyst Dr. Henry Grayson will give an exclusive presentation based on his latest publication “Mindful Loving”, the new physics of interpersonal relationships. A select group of participants will have the opportunity to learn of Grayson’s unique approach to creating and maintaining mature, sustainable relationships and actually applying them in a social context supportive of his concepts.

Says Mark Matousek of O Magazine (April 2004) “Is it possible to change another person’s behavior - and transform a less-than-perfect relationship – simply by changing your own thoughts? Psychologist Henry Grayson’s theory may very well revolutionize the way we look at love, friendship and attachment”.

States Leah Poller, Director of the Art Alliance, “With all the excitement and energy available in New York City, what is missing the most is an environment similar to the European Salons of the 19th/20th centuries where people seeking a more profound and enrichening social experience can gather together to exchange ideas. An inviting, elegant and sophisticated space such as the Art Alliance in Soho proposes an admirable substitute to noisy restaurants and bars where conversation is at best tenuous.”

Kimberly Fields, Founder of SveltEvents, LLC, brings a wealth of event planning, PR and marketing experience and access to a whole new audience of young professionals and creative talents target for YIN/YANG. Says Fields “The cross culturalization between left brain/right brain types promises to create an eclectic and inviting mix. There is a growing population of lifestyle influencers in search of a social environment in which intellect converges with passion. By leveling the field with an even number of men and women, YIN/YANG promises to be unique in New York City where women outnumber men 5 to 1.”

YIN YANG will be sponsored in part by Uplift Investments, a boutique investment firm focusing on complementary and alternative medicine, natural and organic living, mind-body interaction, and related areas. Dan Kaufman of Uplift Investments states “We believe that YIN YANG evidences a major demographic and consciousness shift towards healthier lifestyles and a better understanding of our mutual interconnectedness and that our thoughts help shape this reality.”

Georgina Galanis, YIN/YANG’s Program Director, has frequented the art and cultural scene on several continents. “YIN/YANG will be first choice for our polyvalent society that really wants to connect. This time, instead of reading about fascinating people with great ideas in the Sunday Times, you’ll be able to say...’and I was there!’”.

The Art Alliance and SveltEvents are proposing YIN/YANG as an experiential environment and social laboratory to deliver trend setting thinking to avid audiences of influencers. A calendar of upcoming events is available upon request (artllny@aol. com or 212 274 1704).

About the Art Alliance: Located in the heart of Soho, the Art Alliance has directed a full scale gallery and salon program for over 8 years. Chicago, IL (PRWEB) June 16, 2006

Twenty years ago, Fred Morton was a busy banker and trader who was overwhelmed with the stress of his job. After trying various "conventional" treatments, he decided to try acupuncture to attempt to cure himself. He was amazed with the dramatic benefits that the gained from the treatment and decided to start "the humble healer".

"This business really came from what I saw was lacking in the world,” said Fred Morton. "The treatment that is usually given is lacking in the human and spiritual element, and I sought to try to practice holistic healing. I call myself the humble healer because I do not have any kind of special powers or ability to miraculously heal. Rather, I use simple practices that have been used for thousands of years and blend them with modern science to create a real healing experience."

Mr. Morton is also a leading practitioner of Kabalistic healing techniques. After being urged to follow his lineage, he began to study with the Kabalistic Healing Rabbi Goldhamer and now utilize Kabalistic Healing practices during healing sessions.

Many other forms of spiritual and holistic healing are offered such as sound acupressure, Reiki, Thai medical massage, CranioSacral therapy, Polarity Therapy and EFT. These various techniques are used in varying capacities to create a healing experience for the person undergoing it. The Humble Healer also teaches his clients and holds classes on energy balancing techniques and how to focus on well-being.

Animals are also a prime candidate for healing sessions and many pet owners have described almost miraculous healings from their companion animals shortly after the sessions with The Humble Healer. CranioSacral Therapy, Polarity Therapy, Sound Acupressure, Reiki and Kabalistic Healing Prayer are all available services for pets.

"Everyone has a different experience in the healing sessions" said Mr. Morton. "The experience has been described as "going on vacation" or "being in between worlds". It is very relaxing and often clients see colors or images that they have never seen before. I do not so much bring about this as I help channel the energies of the Creator into the person being healed. But I don’t just provide a band-aid, I empower clients to take charge of their own health and maintain it while assisting them with their current problem.”

101 Things To Do With A Mobile Phone In Healthcare

101 Things To Do With A Mobile Phone In Healthcare

Report identifies 101 applications for mobile phones and PDAs in healthcare.

Cambridge, UK (PRWEB) June 9, 2005

According to a report published this week, the market for ehealth technology could be approaching a tipping point. The report “101 Things To Do With A Mobile Phone In Healthcare”, published by analysts Wireless Healthcare, identifies a number of ehealth companies that have been formed by surgeons. Intelligent Medical Systems and Xenetec are typical of ehealth vendors run by clinicians with first hand experience of clinical processes. The report states that these companies will accelerate the adoption of ehealth by giving credibility to ehealth as a technology and providing reference sites within the healthcare sector itself.

Wireless Healthcare feels peer pressure will also drive the market, especially if consultants start reaping the benefits of venture capital backing and IPOs. The report states that, in the not too distant future, the ehealth market will enter a new phase where clinicians themselves encourage the automation of clinical processes.

However, Wireless Healthcare sees the health worker’s resistance to change remaining a key barrier to adoption of IT. Nurses, clinicians and consultants are concerned that automation will impact on their careers and lead to job losses. The report states that while health workers are being told automation will free them to provide more care and personal attention to patients, in reality the de-manning of the healthcare sector will differ little from downsizing in other sectors, such as engineering and financial services. The report suggests that the amount of personal attention a patient receives from a nurse or consultant is unlikely to increase from today’s level – especially if increased workflow efficiency and automated diagnosis means the patient spends less time in hospital.

The report provides 101 examples of the use of wireless and mobile technology in healthcare. While some of the applications are speculative, for example a mobile device to detect MRSA, others, such as SMS based patient reminders, have already been deployed and are earning revenue for vendors.

The report notes that while patient-facing ehealth systems have changed the relationship between the GP and patient, to date their impact on the hospital consultant has been small. The patient still relies on the consultant to carry out tests and, to a large degree, has to accept the treatment regime offered. However, a new wave of automation is altering working practices within hospitals and changing the role of the consultant within the healthcare process.

According to Wireless Healthcare, a new generation of ehealth products and services, based on wireless and mobile technology, is putting diagnosis and treatment management into the hands of the patient. Companies such as CardGuard and Vitaphone are offering suites of wireless ehealth applications – which include blood pressure, heart rate and blood glucose monitoring - to patients, with or without the support of a conventional healthcare provider.

As Peter Kruger, Senior Analyst with Wireless Healthcare, explains: “When sites offering medical advice first appeared on the World Wide Web few GPs believed that, within a decade, they would encounter patients who used the Internet to become specialists in a particular ailment. Before the arrival of the ‘informed patient’ the GP was expected to provide a diagnosis, then recommend a course of treatment. Today many patients believe they already have a diagnosis and merely wish to have it confirmed by a series of tests. The question is no longer ‘Doctor what is wrong with me?’ but ‘Doctor when can my treatment begin?’ Mobile and wireless ehealth will enhance and broaden the scope of self diagnosis.”

The report “101 Things To Do With A Mobile Phone In Healthcare” is available from www. wirelesshealthcare. co. uk The report has been produced to help the Healthcare Special Interest Group (SIG) of Cambridge Wireless promote the use of wireless technology within the healthcare sector.

10 Tips to Medical Spa Startup Success

10 Tips to Medical Spa Startup Success

Between 2002 and 2004, the medical spa industry grew by 109%. The demand is far from being met, and 2005 is going to see the largest number of Medical Spa openings yet. If you are going to open a Medical Spa this year, check out these 10 tips to Medical Spa Startup Success.

Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) April 26, 2005

“Even though the Medical Spa industry is still in it’s infancy, I am beginning to see some trends” says Jeff Russell, the CEO of MedSpa Financing. “We’ve compiled the following 10 tips for those considering opening a medical spa.”

DonÂ’t try and re-invent the wheel, learn from our experience, here are 10 tips that will help you open a successful and profitable Medical Spa.

1. Have sufficient funds

DonÂ’t even think about opening a Medical Spa unless you have the capital needed to bring it through the startup and first year of operation. Invariably, your planning will not deal with all of the unforeseen issues that can occur in the MedSpa industry. From regulatory compliance changes and training costs, to increased marketing costs. Under-capitalization is a leading indicator of business failure. You should considering a combination of various financing strategies from leasing to working capital.

2. Talk with other doctors who have successful, operating Medical Spas Ask them what they would do the same, and what they would do differently. We are starting to see some established Medical Spas out there, try and learn from their experiences and best practices.

3. Join associations that help new Medical Spas succeed

They are a great source of experienced MedSpa owners, who have already gone through what you will. In addition, they often have members who have specialized in the MedSpa industry, including: business planning, marketing, design, dealing with regulatory issues, insurance and finance. The International Medical Spa Association even has a mentorship program that is available for new MedSpa owners. It is invaluable to chat with someone across the country who has had the same problems you may have, especially if you know they are not a local competitor!

4. Know your strengths and weaknesses

No one is strong in all areas, you may be an expert in age management medicine, but you may be weak on the business and marketing side. ThatÂ’s fine, but you are going to need to identify the areas where you are weak and compensate. Not all areas require a permanent, full-time employee, you may consider hiring a consultant who has the necessary experience.

5. Watch your expenses

Especially during the startup phase of a MedSpa, it can be easy to see the glamour of having marble flooring, but is it really necessary? You may be better off adding another hair removal treatment room, which will generate income. Remember the old adage: “it will take twice as long and cost twice as much as you anticipated.”

6. Determine what need your Medical Spa meets

As with any successful business, you need to meet a consumer demand. With 11,500 people joining the over 50 crowd every day, you have a great potential market. But you need to make sure you are where they can be found (i. e. medical centers, shopping centers, established communities).

7. Know your cash flow

You may think financial statements are only for accountants to understand, but you need to be able to read some key financial statements. Including the cash flow statement, this lets you know where the money is coming from and where it is going. You must always know your current cash flow situation, if you cannot pay your bills, you are effectively out of business.

8. Do it because you want to do it

Starting a MedSpa is going to consume two things: time and money. The profit potential of a MedSpa is huge, but if you are not doing what you really enjoy, it will show on your bottom-line! As you will probably be spending more time and money than you originally planned, you need to make sure operating a Medical Spa is what you really want to do.

9. DonÂ’t hire family and friends

They may be able to provide you with valuable assistance during the startup phase, but they most likely will not be able to get you to that next level. This is where having an experienced MedSpa director is very important. Not only are they going to hire and train your employees, but they also will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the MedSpa. Hiring a competent MedSpa Director can allow you to run your MedSpa as a stand alone profit center; one that makes money whether you are there or not.

10. DonÂ’t forget about regulatory and insurance issues

Since you will be incorporating medical procedures in your MedSpa you need to ensure you have the proper coverage for the procedures you will be performing. While you already have malpractice insurance, it may not cross-over to your MedSpa practice. Many insurers are now requiring offices adding or expanding cosmetic-aesthetic procedures to their practice to document clinical and/or accredited training on all non-ablative modalities before a policy of coverage will be extended. Please consult your insurance provider to ensure you are covered.

The underlying theme here is – Be Prepared! The key to any business success, including opening a successful medical spa is being properly capitalized from the very beginning. To make things more complicated, you also need to take into account the evolving regulations surrounding the MedSpa industry. “I am now seeing successful Medical Spa’s turning profits after 6 to 9 months, there are many very happy doctors out there” says Russell.

Women Outperforming Men at Eating a Healthful Diet, According to New Survey

Women Outperforming Men at Eating a Healthful Diet, According to New Survey

A New International Food Information Foundation Finds Women More Likely to Eat Foods for Health Benefits

Washington, DC (Vocus) October 16, 2008

New International Food Information Council (IFIC) Foundation (http://www. ific. org/) research suggests women are more likely than men to be taking advantage of and eating foods to maintain overall health and wellness as well as for more specific benefits like improved feelings of fullness and digestive health. The new insight comes from further study of this year's 3rd annual IFIC Foundation Food & Health Survey (http://www. ific. org/research/foodandhealthsurvey. cfm), which examines what consumers are thinking and doing about their food, nutrition and health.

According to the data both genders overwhelmingly believe(up to approximately 80%) that specific foods and beverages can provide a variety of benefits, but women are more likely than men to be consuming specific foods and beverages to:
Maintain overall health & wellness (53% vs 46%)  Provide higher levels of satiety (42% vs 27%)  Improve digestive health (41% vs 33%)  Diminish the effects of current health problems (34% vs 27%)  Improve physical energy or stamina (34% vs 27%)  Improve mental performance (34% vs 27%)  Reduce the risk of getting specific diseases (33% vs 25%)  Improve overall appearance (30% vs 20%)

In addition, the 2008 Food & Health Survey shows that women are more likely than men to be somewhat or extremely satisfied with their health status, but are also more concerned about their weight and more likely to be making changes to their diet to improve its healthfulness.

According to Wendy Reinhardt Kapsak, MS, RD, Director of Health and Nutrition at the IFIC Foundation, "There are real distinctions between what women and men do and think about the foods they consume." She adds, "It's clear these groups have different priorities and circumstances that influence what they do in regards to their nutritional habits."

The data were presented today during a special Web cast. Dr. Jenna Bell-Wilson, a nationally recognized dietitian and nutrition writer, talked about the importance of eating the right foods for women. "Women have unique nutritional needs that are not only different from men, but can shift throughout our lives. Starting in our teens, we focus on foods rich in calcium and vitamin D and a foundation of good habits, expanding to antioxidants in our 20's and 30's, and making our heart health a priority as we hit our 40's and above."

Meanwhile, Dr. Chris Mohr, a registered dietitian who has written hundreds of articles on men's nutrition and fitness, says, "As a society, we are often overfed yet undernourished. Loading up with the right nutrients can truly impact how you feel, keep your energy high, and reduce the risk of disease throughout your entire life. Focusing on fruits and vegetables, including high fiber foods, and opting for omega-3 fats is crucial for optimizing health and vitality."

They both agree that no matter what your gender, healthful eating should be a priority, and everyone can reap the benefits from a variety of foods that can help maintain health and wellness.

Your Family Could Use Some Help

Your Family Could Use Some Help

What can you do to have a stronger, more healthy, extended family.

Cheyenne, WY (PRWEB) June 22, 2005

What's wrong with your family? According to several studies by the College of Human Ecology at Cornell University, it's likely that your family is growing farther and farther apart or has broken down altogether. The days of Sunday visits with the family has slowly faded away due, in part, to our technological advancements making it possible to find work and live comfortably anywhere in the world. Unfortunately, this is not only harming the family, it's harming society as a whole. Without the broader base of extended family's advice and caring, youngsters have to learn about society the hard way, often failing in the process. EnablingSociety. com, Inc. is dedicated to re-enabling society to form stronger bonds and strengthening the infrastructure that makes up society.

Family web sites are one way to help with this problem. FamilyStation. org was developed with Message Boards, Photo Albums, Calendaring and an Address Book all in a secure environment to help enable families to stay connected. Unlike most family web sites, this is not something that just the "guru" of the family can put up for everyone else to look at. It's an easy to use interactive system that allows all family members to participate and share. With unlimited storage space, you never have to delete things to make room for more.

Society needs strong foundations to lift it to a moral height. Help solve the problems in society by strengthening your own family ties. Share your thoughts and feelings regularly with them. Share your experiences in word and photograph. By sharing your own life with your family, you let them know that they're important to you and you give them a strong sense of who they are.

The syringe invented by Mr. Marc Koska of UK based Star Syringe is manufactured & marketed in India by Hindustan Syringes & Medical Devices Ltd. (HMD) under the brand name of Kojak Selinge.

Commenting on this occasion, Mr. Rajiv Nath, Joint Managing Director, HMD says, “HMD has contributed immensely to the success of pioneering K1 AD Syringe Technology at the global level. Star Syringe has licensed K1 production to over 10 independent manufacturers across the world, who in turn have produced & sold over 500 million auto-disable syringes (K1) for general healthcare since 2003 and the share of Kojak Selinge (produced by HMD) is over 40%. HMD, in addition to Indian healthcare market, is also selling Kojak in over 15 countries.”

“Today, we can very proudly claim that Kojak Selinge has contributed significantly to the global success & acceptance of K1. In fact, Kojak is the most visible & popular brand name in the K1 category across the world. Under the US President George Bush’s MMIS (Making Medical Injections safer) programme, HMD has been supplying Kojak to over 15 countries including Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Mozambique etc.” , added Mr. Nath.

Appreciating HMD’s contribution, Mr. Marc Koska, the inventor of K1 syringe says, “It is the earnest efforts of our key partners like HMD which have made K1 a great success story at the international healthcare horizon. The success of K1 highlights the growing concerns of the community towards the menace of unsafe injection practices and also the steps or initiative they are ready to take to thwart this threat. According to WHO data, every year 1.3 million children die from HIV, Hepatitis and other blood borne diseases because of reuse of syringes.”

“The Queen’s Award for Enterprise 2006” is a springboard for Star & its partners like HMD to continue its ground breaking work in bringing safer basic healthcare and education to people all over the world.”, says Mr. Koska.

About HMD:

Hindustan Syringes & Medical Devices Ltd. (HMD) is Asia’s largest syringe manufacturing company. HMD’s standard disposable syringe “DISPOVAN” is the only established brand name in the syringe market in India. The company manufactures over 1.2 Billion syringes per annum at its multiple manufacturing locations in Ballabgarh (Haryana). In 2003, under the license from Star Syringe of UK, HMD started manufacturing K1- the first non-reusable also known as Auto-disable (AD) syringe in India. HMD markets these AD Syringes under the Kojak Selinge brand name, which is the most popular & visible brand name in non-reusable syringe market in India & other countries as well.

About Star Syringe:

Set up by Mr. Marc Koska (the inventor of K1) in 1996 as a vehicle to bring the K1 auto-disable syringe to the market. K1 was one of the first auto-disable syringe in the healthcare market, designed specifically to prevent the re-use of syringes. Star has licensed K1 production to over ten independent developing world manufacturers. Who Is Right – Brooke Shields or Tom Cruise?

Who Is Right – Brooke Shields or Tom Cruise?

So who is telling the truth?

(PRWEB) July 5, 2005

The recent press on the postpartum depression experienced by Brooke Shields has brought a highlight on opinions expressed by Tom Cruise on his anti-psychiatry position. The debate has become extremely heated as many women feel CruiseÂ’s position diminished their personal experience with post-partum depression. So who is telling the truth? Ironically, they both are.

According to the Postpartum Resource Center of Texas, Postpartum depression occurs in 1 of 10 women. It is marked by drastic mood swings, feelings of despair, crying spells and avoidance of their new baby. Postpartum psychosis can result in hallucinations, delusions, severe insomnia, extreme agitation and suicidal or homicidal thoughts.

For most of us the idea of injuring a newborn makes us cringe and seek revenge. But for those women who have suffered the acute symptoms of postpartum depression or psychosis, they are haunted by such thoughts and will seek any remedy to alleviate the symptoms.

Brook Shield’s willingness to use Paxil is not to be criticized or commended, but rather understood. She sought a solution – some women haven’t and have killed their children as a result.

Tom CruiseÂ’s suggestion that vitamins could have balanced hormones, while sounding too simplistic, actually has merit. So why was he attacked for his statements? Could it be that as a man he has no perceived validity with womenÂ’s issues? Or is it his stance against the use of psychiatric drugs that has the world responding harshly.

In 1999, a Harvard University study generated tremendous interest throughout the bipolar community with information about a natural substance that offered an effective and simpler treatment than pharmaceuticals – fish oil. The study was conducted on 30 patients with bipolar disorder who had histories of relapse. Most were on medications that did not offer successful treatment. Although the trial was scheduled to last for nine months, it was cancelled after only four due to the outstanding results.

Additional findings concluded that postpartum depression is 50 times more common in countries with low levels of seafood consumption. During pregnancy, a woman’s body becomes depleted of fatty acids, which are transferred to the fetus. Omega 3 is not only critical to the growth and maintenance of brain cells but low levels have been detected in studies on depressed patients. A National Institute of Health study tracked 15,541 women from their eighth week of pregnancy to eight months after giving birth and found those who had no seafood rich in Omega 3 fatty acids had nearly twice the rate of depression as those who had rich Omega 3 sources in their diet. Psychiatric Times published a special report in August 2003 stating “Inadequate levels of Omega 3 fatty acids have been associated with depression, including postpartum depression.”

So why do we as a society turn to behavioral drugs to treat the symptoms of depression. That is the question that needs to be addressed. Why has information on natural treatments been suppressed while drugs reign supreme? Unfortunately these are the pertinent questions that need to be addressed and have been lost in the debate.

There are many women still suffering from postpartum depression. Lets offer solutions that truly work rather than offering a way to cover the symptom. That would be a fair debate to both opinions.

Middle East Talent Management Forum Preparing for the Talent War 26th & 27th April 2006, Dubai

Middle East Talent Management Forum Preparing for the Talent War 26th & 27th April 2006, Dubai

For the first time in the Gulf region, human resources experts from leading institutions are gathering to raise awareness on the upcoming talent management challenges specific to this part of the globe. Banking & Finance, IT & Communication, Media, Large Corporations, Higher Education, Oil & Gas, Health, they have all faced the challenge of attracting, recruiting, retaining, developing & nurturing talent. Recognizing that the human capital is giving nowadays the competitive advantage for the leaders, this event is attempting to prepare you for the talent war that starts to be recognized in the region.

(PRWEB) March 20, 2006

Fleming Gulf organizes the first international conference on talent management in the Middle East; Allan Schwayer himself, the talent management guru, the author of “Talent Management Systems” is present in Emirates Towers on 26th & 27th of April to open the conference with his presentation: “The Age of Talent: From Human Resources to Talent Management”.

Well-known international institutions like Microsoft, Schlumberger, or leading regional companies - Americana Group, Alfardan Group, are coming with case studies on talent management from within, unveiling their strategies and experience.

First of all, to manage talent you must have the vision on what your institution needs after a year, after five or ten or more, and the UAE University is speaking exactly about this.

Central Bank of Oman tells how the value-based leadership is inspiring & nurturing talent in an organization; Computer Associates, considered the “best place to work in IT”, speaks about recruitment of talent. About development of talent you can hear Emirates Bank and Al Futtaim Group, and if you are interested in staff retention, listening to Dubai Islamic Bank and Al Wasl Hospital will be helpful. If the lack of long term commitment of your talented employees is an important issue in this region, you have to listen to American University in Dubai how to overcome it.

“To be of maximum benefit for the attendees, we designed a cross-industry forum; thus, they will take home not only “recipes” from the leaders in their field”, says Fleming Gulf production team. “The talent war that started to be felt in the region must not find us unprepared, so we gathered the necessary tools and the experts to show us how to use them”.

Is this an event for the Human Resources professionals? Certainly, but not restricted to them. All senior executives who are involved in the recruitment process must be able to recognize the talent when they come across it; training and learning would be superficial without expressly designed strategies for talent and the list can continue. Everybody is practically involved in talent management to a certain extent and the human factor gains ground rapidly.” Today, about 85% the market value of publicly traded companies rates on intangibles – ideas, speed, innovation, brand, intellectual property, partnerships, etc. Some of today’s brightest companies, such as eBay, Apple and Google, are almost entirely comprised of intangibles. In these organizations and thousands like them, the loss of a few critical employees can spell disaster”, says Allan Schwayer, the key note speaker at the upcoming “Middle East Talent Management Forum”.

Two days of information share and expert networking are being prepared for those who need solutions for recruiting the best people, developing and training them, assure their retention and plan for succession smoothly when these key-people are retiring. Irrespective of the field, banking and finance, groups of companies with divers activities, IT, higher education, health, they all benefit from sharing strategies and experience in a five star event.
