Turn On Your Tap And Consider The More Than One Billion People With No Access To Safe Water On World Water Day, March 22, Urges Hilton Foundation

Turn On Your Tap And Consider The More Than One Billion People With No Access To Safe Water On World Water Day, March 22, Urges Hilton Foundation

Unsafe water is the No. 1 public health crisis in the world; one in six people globally have no access to clean water

Los Angeles (PRWEB) March 17, 2008

When Americans turn on their taps on World Water Day, March 22, 2008, they are urged to stop and consider the more than one billion people around the world who cannot take for granted an abundant supply of safe and clean water by the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, a philanthropic pioneer in water development for needy populations in the developing world.

"A global lack of safe water is the biggest public health crisis in the world," says Steven M. Hilton, president and CEO of the Hilton Foundation. "80 percent of all illness in the developing world stems from contaminated water and poor sanitation." He points out that 1.1 billion people around the world, or one in six people, lack access to clean drinking water while 2.6 billion people, or two in six, lack access to adequate sanitation.

The enormous public health consequences include:
More than 2.2 million people die each year from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitary conditions (WHO/UNICEF/WSSCC -- Water Supply & Sanitation Collaborative Council)  Every week, 42,000 people die of diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitary conditions; more than 90 percent of them are children under age five (WHO/UNICEF)  Diarrhea, which can be caused by germs in dirty water, is the third largest killer of children under five years of age (WHO)  In sub-Saharan Africa, a baby's chance of dying from diarrhea is almost 520 times the chance of a baby in Europe or the U. S. (WHO/UNICEF)  Other serious diseases from contaminated water and poor sanitation are Guinea worm and trachoma which is the world's leading cause of preventable blindness (International Trachoma Initiative)  At any one time, half of the world's hospital beds are filled with patients suffering from water-borne diseases (UN)  According to the United Nations, 1.7 million people could be saved each year if they had safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene (UN World Water Development Report, March, 2006)

Unclean water also has devastating economic and social consequences. Women and girls spend their days walking miles in search of clean water, instead of earning money for their families or going to school.

"For all these reasons, bringing safe water and sanitation to communities in the developing world has been one of our foundation's top priorities," says Hilton. "The foundation began working in this area in 1990, and we are proud to have been at the forefront in investing in potable water. We are particularly pleased that now so many other foundations, corporations, NGOs and donors are joining in the effort to bring safe water and better sanitation to the developing world," noted Hilton.

The Hilton Foundation has committed more than $62 million to provide clean, sustainable sources of water that have benefited nearly one million people in Africa and Southern Mexico.

Based in Los Angeles, the Hilton Foundation was created in 1944 by the late hotel entrepreneur and business leader, Conrad N. Hilton, who left his fortune to the foundation with instructions to help the most disadvantaged and vulnerable throughout the world without regard to religion, ethnicity or geography. The foundation along with its related entities has assets exceeding $4.3 billion, and since its inception, has committed more than $780 million for charitable projects throughout the world. More than 50 percent of its grants fund international projects.

Omnion Consulting Successfully Completes 3 Major Projects with Client, Hologic

Woburn, MA (Vocus) September 18, 2009 -

This summer, Omnion Consulting (www. omnionconsulting. com/ (http://www. omnionconsulting. com/)) successfully brought 2 concurrent multi-national projects live on time and within budget for client, Hologic. Starting in the spring, the Omnion team worked on two parallel projects, Cytyc Costa Rica and Third Wave -- an Hologic acquisition in Wisconsin. Omnion resources were key in bringing these two fast tracked projects live successfully. On both goals, Omnion worked directly and daily with the customer's team defining their future business process solutions, their data conversions, and core team training.

In January of '09, Hologic's acquisition, Cytyc, went live with the full application foot print. This execution brought six new organizations live within the existing Hologic instance. Omnion worked with the customer's supply chain team in all phases of the implementation including business requirements analysis, future business process solutions, data conversions, and core team training. This project came in on time and within budget, with Hologic basically doubling the number of people and organizations using the Oracle applications.

"The fact that there are very few post go-live issues in all 3 events speaks to the wealth of experience and ability of both the client and Omnion team" says Mark McCormack, Omnion Managing Partner. Paul Malenchini, Hologic's Director of Applications Program Management, adds:

"Both Mark McCormack and Steve Rapoza were heavily involved in our overall success implementing the Oracle Manufacturing and Quality Suites for our Marlboro, Londonderry, Canada, Costa Rica and Madison locations. I was amazed with their contributions, knowledge and total team approach. They were vital team members in a highly visible area and Hologic could not have been happier with their deliverables. They did whatever it took to get the job done and done right. All phases of the project … went flawlessly thanks to their efforts and dedication. In short we could not have been successful without them."

Truth Publishing Launches Unique Online Book Publishing Technology That Revolutionizes Author/Publisher Revenue Model

Truth Publishing Launches Unique Online Book Publishing Technology That Revolutionizes Author/Publisher Revenue Model

New natural health book posted entirely online represents brand new revenue model and relationship format between book authors and Internet-based publishers.

Tucson, AZ (PRWEB) February 2, 2006

This week, Truth Publishing announced the launch of www. kitchenmedicinebook. com, an innovative website that introduces a new model of online book publication. Instead of utilizing a downloadable ebook, this site presents the book's text on individual webpages. Chapters are segmented into clearly defined articles that are easily referenced from the homepage.

"This website model provides a way for authors to reach out directly to readers without needing distribution through bookstores," said Mike Adams, site creator and chief spokesperson for Truth Publishing. "Because the pages are available to be referenced by major search engines, authors published on the Truth Publishing network have access to a wider audience. Authors also benefit by receiving payment monthly, which is much faster than traditional book distribution deals."

Written by Kelly Joyce Neff, "The Kitchen Medicine Book" shares traditional healing remedies that use common foods such as honey, garlic, cayenne, and culinary herbs. Articles on the website explain the history of garlic in holistic medicine, how to use oregano for pain, multiple uses for baking soda, and many other natural health topics. Like in a hardcover book, readers also find an introduction where Neff discuses her reasons for writing the book and what she hopes visitors will learn from the site.

Neff is represented by Waterside Productions, Inc. (www. waterside. com). She has an interdisciplinary degree in Celtic Studies, which includes work in cultural anthropology, history, linguistics, language, and literature. She is a traditional midwife and herbalist, a reiki master, and an active craftsperson.

"The Kitchen Medicine Book" is located at http://www. kitchenmedicinebook. com (http://www. kitchenmedicinebook. com).

Welcome To XOOMA Worldwide

Welcome To XOOMA Worldwide

With all the choices out there today in the wellness / home business industry, you might be asking yourself “what makes Xooma Worldwide better than any other company?” Not only is that a fair question, it's the number one question I want you to ask.

(PRWEB) May 27, 2005

You see, from day one, we designed this company to stand head and shoulders above the rest - even in front of the most hard-nosed skeptics who come our way. And in order to do this we knew that meant we could never settle for “second best” when it comes to our product or business opportunity. A difficult task? Yes. But, while most companies' main focus lies is doing whatever it takes to be “the biggest,“ here at Xooma, we're simply focused on being the best.

Dallas Breast Enlargement Specialist Marks 250th Post on RealSelf

Dallas Breast Enlargement Specialist Marks 250th Post on RealSelf

As part of his ongoing commitment to patient education, Dallas breast enlargement surgeon Dr. Michael Bogdan recently posted his 250th answer to a real patient question posed on RealSelf, a popular cosmetic surgery resource on the Web.

Southlake, Texas (PRWEB) December 2, 2009

Dr. Michael Bogdan (http://www. drmichaelbogdan. com (http://www. drmichaelbogdan. com)), a board-certified plastic surgeon, has reached the 250-post mark on RealSelf. com, an online cosmetic surgery resource where the Dallas breast enlargement specialist contributes answers to a broad range of plastic surgery questions.

"I definitely believe that the more people know about their cosmetic options, the better they'll be able to reach their goals, so I'm always working hard to help patients educate themselves," says Dr. Bogdan. "Online, everyone has access to the basic facts on cosmetic surgery, but it's a real passion of mine to help my patients understand the how and the why of their choices. I feel privileged to be able to offer some of that guidance to other people around the country considering cosmetic surgery."

Dr. Bogdan, whose practice focuses on facial rejuvenation, body contouring and breast implant surgery for Dallas patients, has used RealSelf to help patients learn more about surgical planning, recovery, and procedures, and to offer suggestions to patients unsure about which procedure is "right" for them.

"Most detailed plastic surgery questions just can't be answered by a brochure; you need someone with the training to look at your case and say, 'this is what my experience tells me would work best, and here's why,'" explains Dr. Bogdan. "Of course, online advice isn't a substitute for a real consultation from a board-certified plastic surgeon, but I think it can really help patients avoid some of the misinformation out there."

Dr. Bogdan feels he helps patients most through one-on-one consultations where he has the patient's medical history and physical examination to guide him, but he also believes that sites like RealSelf can play an important role in helping patients get reliable information.

"Many patients are a lot more cautious today, which I think is wonderful," says Dr. Bogdan. "When something doesn't feel quite right, they're looking online for the answers, and I think it's a responsibility of qualified surgeons to step up and explain which treatments offer real benefits. It's a question of priorities, and for me the patient's health and peace of mind must always come first."
Much of Dr. Bogdan's advice both online and at his plastic surgery practice in Dallas centers on helping patients recognize that healing takes time.

"If I could give only one piece of advice to all of the women and men I've helped, it would be 'be patient,'" he says. "Most of the concerns that patients share online have to do with normal healing processes that maybe their own doctor didn't explain in detail. I take a lot of care to explain exactly what patients can expect after their surgery, and hopefully I've been able to help other patients share in some of that peace of mind too."

Dr. Michael A. Bogdan (http://www. drmichaelbogdan. com (http://www. drmichaelbogdan. com)) is a board certified plastic surgeon specializing in plastic surgery in Dallas. He received his medical doctorate and completed his residency at Stanford University and is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He has two offices to serve Dallas/Fort Worth patients, one in Southlake and the other in Dallas.

NJ-NAIOP Supports Findings and Recommendations of RPA Report By Michael McGuinness

NJ-NAIOP Supports Findings and Recommendations of RPA Report By Michael McGuinness

New Brunswick, N. J. (PRWEB) September 29, 2005

New Jersey is less than one year away from a transportation standstill. Unfortunately, many people do not fully understand the severity or urgency of the current transportation funding shortage.

When the New Jersey Chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NJ-NAIOP) decided to help fund the RPA study, we did so because of the critical role of transportation in the health of our stateÂ’s residents and economy. The Chapter now strongly endorses the findings and recommendations of the report released by RPA this summer, which fairly and accurately captures the issues and represents a logical approach to addressing our stateÂ’s transportation financing crisis.

The State created the Transportation Trust Fund (TTF) in 1984 as a predictable source of transportation investment. Unfortunately, state government reduced the appropriate amount of operating assistance to transportation in the past two decades and borrowed from the Trust FundÂ’s revenues, helping to deplete its resources.

Now, NJ-NAIOP urges state lawmakers to make substantial efforts to identify and secure alternate revenue sources to supplement funds and eliminate expenses in the areas we can all agree are unnecessary. They must make long-term investments to ease the taxpayerÂ’s burden. Our 500 members are stakeholders in many ways: They are on the front lines of economic development in New Jersey and are ambassadors for attracting new business.

Our concern goes beyond the business and real estate industry: Most members live in New Jersey, and we are experiencing congestion that negatively affects the environment and the lives of everyone here. The total annual cost of traffic congestion in New Jersey in lost time, operating expenses and fuel consumption has reached $4.9 billion according to a report issued by the National Center for Transportation and Industrial Productivity at the New Jersey Institute of Technology in February 2000. People traveling longer to and from jobs experience higher levels of stress, which leads to increased health care costs and decreased labor productivity. Congestion translates into higher costs of truck freight operation also through driver wages and has a negative impact on the manufacturing industry and the service sector. If left unchecked, congestion will erode New Jersey's competitive advantage by obstructing the movement of people and goods, thereby weakening our efforts at business retention and attraction.

New Jersey’s roadways must be maintained and expanded to handle the traffic now and in the future – roads such as the New Jersey Turnpike, Route 78 and Routes 1 and 9. Additionally, newly created distribution and warehouse facilities in port areas will ease mobility issues, generate jobs and keep much of the distribution business in New Jersey instead of sending these jobs to Pennsylvania.

We must also consider the ongoing development and impact of the current dredging of our channels to 50 feet and future expansion of Port activity. This will generate increased cargo shipping from overseas that will inundate the Port neighborhoods and roadways, which are already sorely lacking good roadways and access. Without sufficient and reliable transportation infrastructure in the Port areas, the New Jersey economy stands to lose thousands of current and future jobs as carriers choose alternate ports for their import business.

Transportation finance must be a priority. NJ-NAIOP is advocating a stable, dedicated and broad-based source of funding for maintenance, repair and expansion of the stateÂ’s transportation infrastructure that includes highways, county and local roads and transit networks. If we choose to ignore the problem, roads will deteriorate and burden future generations. We support adherence by the TTF to strict financial standards; increased revenue for NJ Transit operations; improved efficiency, advancement of smart growth and the incorporation of best practices to maximize investments; and public accountability to prevent future insolvency of the TTF.

NJ-NAIOPÂ’s position supports investment in all modes of our transportation infrastructure and an increase in our mobility options, to be implemented as effectively and as soon as possible.

The State of New Jersey is highly dependent on transportation; the way people experience the transportation system is critical to the future progress of the state and region. We need better roads and bridges, less congestion, more buses and trains, cleaner facilities and a safer system overall. We need to reform our current transportation finance structure along the guidelines of the RPAÂ’s recommendations.

Our leaders must be able to face difficult decisions and show discipline to identify revenues that maximize our mobility and that provide the most benefits for New Jersey taxpayers. Finally, fixing the Trust Fund now will help to restore the publicÂ’s trust, which has been eroded by New JerseyÂ’s past priorities and past government practices. Raising the gas tax alone would still leave the TTF bankrupt, and motorists are already driving on substandard roads. The time to act is now.

Michael McGuinness is the executive director of the New Jersey Chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NJ-NAIOP), which is the trade association for developers, owners, investors and other professionals active in the industrial, office and commercial real estate industry. Founded in 1970, the New Jersey Chapter is comprised of 500 members who benefit from a variety of business and networking opportunities, education and professional development programs, research on trends and innovations and strong legislative and public affairs representation. The New Jersey Chapter is part of the larger NAIOP organization founded in 1967, which is comprised of more than 12,000 members in 50 chapters throughout North America.

The National Institutes of Health Installs Sunnex Celestial Star Surgical Lights in New Intraoperative MRI Suite

The National Institutes of Health Installs Sunnex Celestial Star Surgical Lights in New Intraoperative MRI Suite

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has installed Sunnex’s innovative Celestial Star(TM) MRI Surgical Lights in its state-of-the-art intraoperative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) suite at its headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland.

Natick, MA (PRWEB) May 24, 2006

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has installed Sunnex’s innovative Celestial Star(TM) MRI Surgical Lights in its state-of-the-art intraoperative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) suite at its headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland.

The suite, one of a handful in the U. S., provides real-time MRI in the surgical suite, displaying current and pre-operative imaging data using state-of-the-art 3D and virtual reality technology. The suite is a collaborative effort between the NIH Clinical Center, the National Cancer Institute, and the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. Less than a year old, the suite is the site of spinal cord surgeries, craniotomies, craniectomies, and other leading-edge research and neurosurgical procedures.

One challenge in developing a state-of-the-art intraoperative MRI suite is the selection and installation of leading-edge technology to equip it, according to Mike Borostovik, NIH Clinical Center Neuro Nurse Specialist. One, and not the least, is the suite’s use of a high-field 1.5 tesla MRI magnet which requires the installation and use of specialized MRI-compatible instruments – including the surgical lighting.

After extensive review and testing, three sets of pioneering dual ceiling-mounted Sunnex Celestial Star MRI Surgical Lights were installed. The innovative lighting systems were designed specifically for use in MRI facilities and manufactured of MRI-compatible materials by Sunnex, Inc. of Natick, Mass., a medical lighting manufacturer with more than 30 years of experience.

The Sunnex lights provide critical lighting for all of the neurosurgical and specialty procedures performed in the NIH suite, said Borostovik.

Key features of the lights include their excellent flexibility, reach, range, and motion. The light’s 114-inch vertical and horizontal reach provides head-to-toe coverage. Universal movement and placement is enhanced by a patented drift-free balance arm design, he noted.

“The lights are so easy to position. The surgeons are able to move the lights around perfectly. They are so lightweight, they can move them with one hand – to position the light right where they need it,” Borostovik said.

The high intensity lighting, which illuminates up to 6,000 foot candles with a unique space-saving design, is also impressive. “I am amazed at how bright the output is – even as overheads and given how compact they are,” Borostovik said.

The dual-ceiling mount configuration of the Sunnex Celestial lights provide several benefits, including avoiding the use of sets of intrusive mobile lights, “which tend to get in the way in the work area” – as well as allowing surgeons to eschew the use of headlamps.

In use, Borostovik said surgeons praise the Sunnex equipment for remaining cool to work under – unlike the case with traditional surgical lamps – and for the closeness in color of its light to true sunlight. Additionally, the lamps are brighter, more flexible, and more comfortable for the surgeons – especially after lengthy hours of surgery – and provide better illumination for the entire assisting staff.

Combined with Sunnex’s “outstanding personal service,” Sunnex’s MRI-compatible Celestial lights would benefit “any intraoperative MRI – or any – surgical suite,” he said.

Dublin, Ireland (PRWEB) March 22, 2007

With global warming, pollution, deforestation and overpopulation becoming imminent threats to the permanent stability of our fragile ecosphere, the danger of extinction is no longer relegated to Earth's rarest species. Some of the most beautiful and awe-inspiring destinations, both naturally occurring and manmade, are at risk of disappearing forever.

Hostelworld. com recommends visiting and supporting the following endangered locations before it's too late.

The Dead Sea

Located between Jordan and Israel, the Dead Sea isn't merely an ancient oasis in a harsh and unforgiving landscape. Instead, the home of the now famous Dead Sea scrolls is a site of immeasurable cultural and religious significance, having hosted historic figures such as King David, Herod the Great and Jesus Christ in its therapeutic waters. Now a major tourist attraction, the saltiest body of water on the planet welcomes millions of tourists every year who come to float in its unusually buoyant waters and revel in the many physical therapies provided by the natural landscape. Whether it's a balneotherapy session, which uses the black mineral mud of the sea, or the reduced ultraviolet rays at the lowest dry point on earth, the Dead Sea area has become a major center for health research and treatment. Unfortunately, due to irrigation and human intervention, the Dead Sea is shrinking at an unprecedented rate, and according to experts, will completely evaporate in approximately fifty years. At least no one will have to change the name.

Great Barrier Reef, Australia

Sometimes referred to as the tropical rain forest of the sea, the largest organic collective in the world resides along 1600 miles of coastline off of Queensland, Australia. Besides having the distinction of being one of the seven natural wonders of the world, the Great Barrier Reef is home to one of the most diverse collections of wildlife on the planet, many of which are endangered. Leatherback sea turtles share this ocean playground with humpback whales, clownfish and thousands of other distinct and beautiful sea creatures. Thanks to human activity, this essential component of the Earth's ecosystem is in danger of ending its 500,000 year existence in our lifetime. Reef scientists agree that global warming, which results in coral bleaching, is the greatest threat to the reef, predicting that a three degree rise in the global temperature would result in the total destruction of the 300,000 square kilometer refuge of biodiversity.

The Great Wall of China

Construction began over 200 years before the birth of Christ and was promptly completed in the 17th century. Not necessarily the wisest use of a nation's labor force, but when you're constructing a 30 foot high, 4500 hundred mile long wall, complete with 10,000 watchtowers, meant to keep out the rest of the world, all without the use of modern equipment, you can't sweat the small stuff. China's most famous landmark, and generally considered the longest man-made structure on Earth, spans all varieties of the Chinese landscape, twisting through the stark Gobi desert and rugged mountain ranges to the fertile grasslands and high plateaus. Exploited for tourist dollars, too large to adequately maintain, and subject to the ravages of time, it is estimated that one-half of the wall has completed disappeared, with a large percentage of the remaining wall rapidly deteriorating. How do you make a 4500 mile wall disappear without the help of David Copperfield? Wait a few years and we'll have the answer.

Glacier National Park, Montana, U. S.

This ancient ecosystem, dominated by cragged mountain ranges that reach into the North American sky, was carved by the retreating glaciers of the last ice age. The offspring, remnants of these Earth-shaping ice giants, have remained the centerpiece of this national treasure for 15,000 years. To general dismay, photographic evidence dating back to the mid-19th century provides indisputable evidence that the 150 glaciers scattered throughout the park have rapidly retreated, and by 2005 only 27 of the original glaciers remained. If global warming continues at the current rate, scientists agree that by 2030 there will be no glaciers left in Glacier National Park. Not a welcome prognosis for the many plant and animal species that depend on the seasonal melting of glacier ice for survival, or for the millions who make the trek each year to experience a world frozen in time.

Venice, Italy

Gondolas floating silently down the Grand Canal. Streets free of cars that wind past the architectural triumphs of the Basilica di San Marco and the Doge's Palace. Back alleys and hidden waterways that creep through the crumbling beauty of an ancient word built upon the water. Nicknamed the "Queen of the Adriatic," Venice is decadently rich in both history and culture, from its famous canals to its celebrated glassblowers, attracting over 7 million people a year to view this window into the past. Venice is also sinking. Between it's dissolving foundation and the rising sea level, the Italian government faces a daunting challenge in the coming century to keep one of the most romantic and beloved cities in Europe from becoming an underwater attraction.

Amazon Rain Forest

The "lungs of our planet" pump approximately 20 percent of the world's oxygen into the atmosphere. Covering more than half of Brazil, the Amazon represents half of the remaining rainforest in the world, and is home to most diverse and abundant collection of plant and animal life on the planet. So numerous in fact, that most still wait to be discovered. However, the time for discovery is quickly waning, as deforestation, human expansion and global warming threaten to muffle the breaths of this ecological necessity. At the current rate of deforestation, in 20 years the Amazon will be reduced by 40 percent, and according to some experts, global warming could lead to the complete annihilation of Amazonian rainforest by 2100.

Atlanta Business RadioX announced today the launch of a new weekly radio show called Accelerator Avenue. The one hour weekly program features founders, owners and operators of small businesses – who have made it “out of the garage” – as they detail their accomplishments and describe the new challenges they face navigating the acceleration phase of business success. Accelerator Avenue is hosted by Bernie Wolford, President of Buckingham Associates, LLC. The first show airs November 12, 2010.

“While the excitement of start-ups understandably receives much attention, companies in the acceleration phase face predictable challenges if they are to achieve the full potential of the product or service they have created,” explains Wolford. “This program is designed to help provide them with much of the information and resources they need to address those challenges.”

Accelerator Avenue airs each Friday from 2 – 3 p. m. EST. Listeners are able to tune in and listen to the show by clicking on the Listen Live button at acceleratoravenue. businessradiox. com. Free podcasts of each episode will be available for download on Apple’s iTunes store.

Each show will cover topics such as bootstrapping, funding options, market penetration, first generation management and staffing. Companies providing services at this stage of business growth may appear alongside accelerator phase company owners as well as business persons who have successfully passed through this challenging stage.

“Providing guidance and structure for these acceleration phase companies is critical in an economy where large companies continue to reduce costs and conduct headcount reduction,” continues Wolford. “The economy of the future will increasingly rely upon these small emerging growth companies to provide new jobs and fuel growth for the next 20-30 years.”

“Adding Accelerator Avenue to our line-up of already compelling talk radio programs provides yet another valuable resource for our expanding community of listeners,” explains Atlanta Business RadioX Producer Lee Kantor. “Packaging and delivering content via internet radio continues to be an ideal medium for business owners looking for new ways to provide targeted content to preferred audiences in a simple and easy to consume format,”

California Gourmet Granola Line Hits Store Shelves; Traci's Gourmet Granola Launches into Whole Food Markets

California Gourmet Granola Line Hits Store Shelves; Traci's Gourmet Granola Launches into Whole Food Markets

African-American owned Traci’s Gourmet Granola, the California-based granola company, has partnered up with Whole Food Markets in the Northern California region.

Oakland, CA (PRWEB) October 13, 2005

Traci’s Gourmet Granola, the California-based granola company, has partnered up with Whole Food Markets in the Northern California region. Whole Food Markets is the world's leading natural and organic foods supermarket found in 176 locations throughout North America and the United Kingdom. The new partnership between Traci’s Gourmet Granola and Whole Food Markets increases the company’s visibility in various natural and gourmet markets nationwide.

“We are thrilled at the opportunity to have our product on the shelves of Whole Food Markets. Since my company’s inception in 2002, it has been my goal to grace the shelves of a premier natural foods store, such as Whole Foods, since we share the same consumer," said company founder, Traci Fellows. "Health food customers are health conscious and discerning about what they consume, so are my customers. A healthy lifestyle is our ultimate goal.”

The company began in 2000 when Traci attempted to bake Snicker Doodles for a friend. She was watching one of her favorite food show host making granola when the idea hit. She rummaged through her kitchen pantry for all of her favorite ingredients-- organic oats, fruits, nuts and maple syrup. After mixing them all together, she whipped up what is now known as “Fruit & Nut Crunch.”

Since then, African-American Traci Fellows -- affectionately known as “The Granola Lady” around the San Francisco Bay Area -- is putting her name (and green satin ribbon) on the gourmet granola industry. Her passion for a balanced and healthy lifestyle, combined with her love for baking has always been part of her way of life. In September of 2002, she decided to combine both and introduced Traci’s Gourmet Granola.

About Traci’s Gourmet Granola

Since its two-year inception, the demand for Traci’s Gourmet Granola has increased dramatically. The product line is eaten by professional athletes, Hollywood trainers and musicians. Traci’s Gourmet Granola gives back to the community through the sponsorship of various charity events.

CCS will also have an exhibition booth at the Chicago and DC shows.

(PRWEB) December 21, 2004

Crete's Culinary Sanctuaries organizes distinctive educational travel programs covering all that Crete has to offer – ancient history, culture, wild nature, organic agriculture and cuisine. CCS founder, Nikki Rose, is speaking on the panel, “What’s Hot in Adventure Travel” at the Adventures in Travel Expos in Chicago (January 7, Stephens Convention Center), New York (January 14, Javits Convention Center) and Washington, DC (January 28, Washington Convention Center). CCS will also have an exhibition booth at the Chicago and DC shows.

CCS programs are tailored to small groups and presented exclusively by resident experts. Intensive classes in Crete’s renowned healthy cuisine and organic gardening, including the seasonal production of olive oil, cheese and wine are intertwined with visits to ancient sites, botanic treks and optional sports such as rock climbing and paragliding. “We instinctively follow sustainable tourism guidelines,” said Rose. “We collaborate with local groups that specialize in a wide range of activities. Our guests join us in villages they may never find on their own and really get to know residents who are passionate and knowledgeable about the rich history and culture of their island. Any place we visit, whether it be New York or Nepal, is much more memorable when we spend time with local people. That’s the connection we make in Crete, while sharing valuable cultural, culinary and gardening information with our guests.”

Rose is a Greek-American, professional chef and writer (primarily for Slow Food) who lived in Crete for four years. She now divides her time between the U. S. and Crete, working on a book and documentary that mirrors CCS programs in Crete. She has designed cultural-culinary seminars since 1997, featuring prominent chefs from the diplomatic sector, culinary schools and fine dining establishments from around the world.

Kostas Bouyouris, the Greek co-designer of the CCS project, is a noted agronomist and founding member of the Mediterranean Association for Soil Health. Bouyouris lives on Crete and has worked for over a decade on innovative projects to encourage the expansion of sustainable organic production in Crete. His training programs and cooperative incentives link organic farmers directly to restaurant kitchens and create an essential bridge between the two primary industries in Crete – agriculture and tourism. MedASH is involved in many ancillary community projects, such as training young farmers and organizing children’s gardens.

“Alternative travel has evolved into cultural immersion travel,” said Rose. “We often hear that climbing a mountain in a foreign land was exhilarating, but getting to know local people was the most memorable part of the journey. Travelers are searching for more than an ideal climate, natural beauty or extreme sports in places they choose to pass through in their lifetime. They are also more concerned about the impact their visit may have on the local communities. It’s wonderful to be a part of such a dynamic group at the Adventures in Travel Expos who are working on programs like ours to create a lasting bond between visitors and residents. Crete has a significant ancient past, but people still live there and they can be quite fascinating, when we make the time to know them.”

Overture Pay Per Click Case Study: The “B to B” Pay-Per-Click Bargain

Overture Pay Per Click Case Study: The “B to B” Pay-Per-Click Bargain

Overture Pay Per Click Case Study: The “B to B” Pay-Per-Click Bargain

(PRWEB) December 18, 2004

The Challenge:

Founded in 1995, AllMed Healthcare Management, an independent medical review organization, has grown rapidly since 2002 by investing in Sales & Marketing. As part of these ongoing efforts, AllMed revamped its website in 2003. Although the company already had 150 clients in 35 states, they didn’t have the budget for traditional print advertising. That’s why AllMed decided to experiment with Google AdWords Pay-Per-Click advertising. Initially, the company launched an in-house pay-per-click campaign but, with inappropriate messaging and poor keyword selection, spent a sizeable amount of PPC money without achieving significant results. AllMed then turned to outside help, retaining Cube Management to handle the company’s AdWords pay-per-click campaign management – a move that ultimately achieved tremendous pay per click campaign ROI for AllMed. Given the success of the campaign, AllMed remained focused on driving even more targeted traffic to the company’s website (above and beyond AdWords) and once again turned to Cube for pay per click campaign advice.

The Solution:

The professionals at Cube quickly stepped in to create and implement an Overture Pay-Per-Click campaign for the company. Web stats had shown that AllMed was not reaching a healthy enough portion of the web-searching public (including people who use Yahoo and MSN as their search engines) through AdWords pay-per-click advertising alone. Cube understood that the widely held perception of Overture as a “Consumer” search engine meant that “Business to Business” pay-per-click bids at Overture could actually be a great bargain. By advertising on both Overture and AdWords, AllMed would reach nearly all of its targeted market through pay per click campaigns.

The Outcome:

AllMed’s Overture Pay-Per-Click campaign was launched in August 2004. A natural increase in AdWords traffic combined with the new Overture campaign led AllMed to receive nearly double the Pay-Per-Click traffic for August, compared to July, at 1/3 less cost per click. AllMed staff members are happy to acknowledge that an Overture Pay-Per-Click campaign led to an increase in business. “Prospects who click-thru to our site are the types of targeted leads that we need and want. We gladly pay Overture to drive these interested prospects to our site – and the strong ROI doesn’t hurt either,” says Kenny Boyett, AllMed Sales Manager.

Open Source in the Enterprise

Open Source in the Enterprise

Open Source in the Enterprise will focus on methods of Securing Business Critical Applications for Open Source. Open Source in the Enterprise will bring together leading industry practitioners from every stage of Open Source implementation. Sessions will highlight companies who are in the early phases of evaluation and adoption, and proceed through to those that are more mature in regard to their Open Source strategies, and who are rapidly moving towards actual business applications.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) November 23, 2005

marcus evans is proud to be presenting Open Source in the Enterprise: From Evaluation, Adoption to Implementation and Optimization – Integrating Open Source into Existing IT Platforms; January 23 – 25, 2006 at the Omni San Francisco Hotel, San Francisco, CA.

“This conference is very much needed, it focuses on the practitioners and their real challenges, not simply marketing fluff,” said Jamie Cash, VP Technology, NLG.

Over the years, Open Source has gained momentum and has become an integral part of many corporations’ enterprise architecture. Increased popularity however is mirrored by a rise in questions pertaining to actual cost, scalability, reliability, security, supportability and legality. As Open Source moves into its next generation, these questions have to be answered and the myths surrounding it must be put to rest. Additionally, examination of improved tools that facilitate the integration, maintenance and support of Open Source is needed.

The Open Source in the Enterprise conference (event website: www. marcusevansbb. com/opensource (http://www. marcusevansbb. com/opensource)) presented by marcus evans will be taking place January 23-25, 2006 in San Francisco, CA, and will bring together leading industry practitioners from every stage of Open Source implementation.

Experts in the industry such as Jay Hansen, CEO of Avalanche; Roy Fielding, Cofounder, The Apache Software Foundation; Ken Coar, Board Member, Open Source Initiative; Douglas Phillips, Attorney, Covington & Burling will give informative sessions on maximizing support as well as licensing considerations for Open Source software in order to avoid legal penalties for your organization and ensure utmost advantage. Other key speakers include John Alberg, CIO & CTO, Employease; Barry Vandevier, CTO, Travelocity; Robert Wiseman, CTO, Cendant Travel Distribution; Rick Malinowski, CIO, State of Colorado; Bob Gatewood, CTO, Athenahealth; Jeremy Zawodny, MySQL, Yahoo!. These key speakers along with other presenters will share best practice case studies and address topics that include evaluating, implementing and ongoing management of Open Source software; moving your critical IT infrastructure to open applications and decrease time to market; integrating Open Source within your current IT platform; Growing your business without growing your IT needs; tailoring applications to enhance productivity and profit; and more.

Open Source is no longer a niche development and is rapidly moving beyond Linux into actual business applications. Because it’s becoming a novel way to “outsource” IT development for IT buyers, as well as a sales, marketing and distribution strategy for IT vendors, Open Source in the Enterprise is the ideal forum to learn how to streamline your IT infrastructure and increase your profitability by taking control of your software. For a full listing of the speakers as well as a detailed description of the conference program, please visit the event website located at: www. marcusevansbb. com/opensource (http://www. marcusevansbb. com/opensource).

"Finally, A Simple and Natural Program That Reverses Diabetes."

My name is John Spanek, a 39 year old type one diabetic and I finally found a simple and natural program that reversed my diabetes. Please read my eBook to find out how I did it at www. diabetesyoga. com

(PRWEB) April 7, 2003

¡§Finally, A Simple and Natural Program That Reverses Diabetes¡¨

Allow me to introduce myself, John Spanek. I am a 39 year old type I

Diabetic who started practicing Bikram Yoga in May of 2002. Prior to

That I was an out of control diabetic who landed in the hospital 5 times since the age of 27 with blood sugars that were soaring through the roof. I was literally on death¡¦s door all 5 times and had very little desire to continue living!

Since I started my practice, my life has turned around 180 degrees. I

Even wrote an eBook called ¡§No More Diabetes, How Yoga Saved My life¡¨ and developed a website (www. diabetesyoga. com) which I launched in April of 2003 relative to my miraculous change. Since August of 2002 I have:

„« Lost 30 pounds

„« Stabilized my blood sugars

„« Quit smoking

„« Quit drinking alcohol

„« Increased my energy 100%

„« Increased positive outlook on life 1000%

I recently completed 60 days in a row of consecutive practice and have been told that this is quite an accomplishment by my instructor, Robin Duffy who owns the studio where I practice in Burlingame, California (www. bikramyogaburlingame. com). I wanted to mention in this press release that I plan to continue on my consecutive daily practice until July 7, 2003 when I will turn 40 years old. If all goes well, I might even strive for 1 year straight of daily practice.

I want everyone, healthy or not to order my eBook off (www. diabetesyoga. com) in order to see for themselves that there truly is hope, and life need not be a death sentence for one who has diabetes.

Sincerely,

John Spanek
