Integrated Census Media Campaign Targets Multicultural Communities

Integrated Census Media Campaign Targets Multicultural Communities

Engage Her Produces Media about the 2010 Census for Hard-to-Reach Youth and Immigrant Populations

Berkeley, CA (Vocus) March 24, 2010

Engage Her, a national organization that educates and activates multicultural communities for leadership roles and civic engagement by deploying digital technologies, today released a 30-second, animated video about the 2010 Census for viral distribution online and on mobile devices. The video targets multicultural communities, particularly women, youth, and the economically disadvantaged. Later this week, the video will be translated and released into 11 languages: Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Korean, Hmong, Laotian, Tagalog, Hindi, Samoan, and Tongan.

The census media campaign is the first to integrate viral video, text messaging, social media, and PSAs. Using digital distribution technologies, Engage Her’s video partners can collect information and provide list-building capabilities, something not possible with traditional TV, print, and radio media outreach.

The video’s objective is to connect the census to key issues that multicultural and immigrant populations care most about: jobs, healthcare, and education. The video emphasizes that the census program provides funds to people and their communities for critical services.

The video – which can be seen on http://www. engageher. org (http://www. engageher. org) -- opens with an animated young girl jumping up and down raising her hand in an attempt to get attention. She says, “Can anyone hear me?” When she gets pulled back onto a box labeled Census 2010, a voice says, “Now that we can hear you. You need an education.” She then receives schoolbooks. The goal is to get Engage Her’s target communities to complete the census by April 1 while also being educated about why they should participate in the census.

Engage Her is partnering with a diverse group of community and social advocacy groups, including the Asian American Justice Center, the San Francisco Office of Civic Engagement & Immigrant Affairs, the National Association of Asian American Professionals, Asian American Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy, and AT&T, to increase its outreach to those normally underrepresented in the census.

“AAJC is pleased to be partnering with Engage Her on its 2010 census education campaign.” said Karen K. Narasaki, president and executive director of the Asian American Justice Center. “It is a creative partnership that will help to ensure that hard-to-reach minority and immigrant communities are not undercounted.”

Engage Her
Engage Her (www. engageher. org) was founded in 2008 by Mable Yee, a social entrepreneur, former CEO and founder of three high-tech companies, and a longtime activist in the Asian American and women’s tech communities. In 2009 Engage Her hosted its inaugural Multicultural Women’s Leadership Conference at UC Berkeley, which was attended by 350 women featuring activist icons Gloria Steinem, Dolores Huerta, Aileen Hernandez, and Yuri Kochiyama. Engage Her will host its first Multicultural Middle School Girls’ Leadership Conference March 27-28 at the Julia Morgan School for Girls in Oakland, CA. Yee also produced the documentary, Engage Her: Getting Minority Women To Lead and Vote, and most recently received the Woman of the Year award for California Assembly District 14, represented by Assemblymember Nancy Skinner.

Healthcare professionals from around the world will travel to San Diego, CA to attend the 2006 Planetree Annual Conference on October 9-12, 2006. Hosted by Planetree-affiliate Sharp Coronado Hospital, the 2006 Conference brings together healthcare practitioners, academics, patient advocates, hospital staff and administrators, and architects to advance and expand the patient-centered care movement.

Among the keynote speakers for the four-day event will be music icon Judy Collins who will talk about the healing power of art and music. Other keynote speakers will include: Dr. C. Norman Shealy, President of Holos University Graduate Seminary, which offers doctoral programs in Spiritual Healing and Energy Medicine; acclaimed journalist Linda Ellerbee, who will talk about her experiences with living with breast cancer; Don Miguel Ruiz, best-selling author of The Four Agreements; Erick Wahl, a recognized artist and corporate consultant who provides bold innovative strategies to challenge organizations to keep ahead of the changes and competition in today's dynamic marketplace; and Tom Kelley, the general manager of IDEO, the famous design and development firm responsible for the Apple mouse, Polaroid's IZone instant camera, the Palm V, and hundreds of other cutting edge products.

In addition to these speakers, the 2006 Planetree Annual Conference will feature breakout sessions on practical strategies for implementing and fostering a patient-centered culture in healthcare institutions. Topics include employee satisfaction evaluation tools, patient safety, clinical aromatherapy, therapeutic touch and patient-centered facility design, among others.

On Thursday, October 12, Planetree will recognize the extraordinary individual and institutional achievements in patient-centered care during the Spirit of Planetree Awards Dinner.

“When we embarked upon a search for a strategy for our hospital that would take it successfully into the next decades, we discovered that Planetree creates a sustainable cultural shift that doesn't depend on the continued presence of a hospital’s current leadership to maintain its integrity,” said Sharp Coronado Hospital CEO Marcia Hall.

“Planetree and its tenets comprise the ‘shade tree’ that we know others will sit under as the years move beyond our current very committed leadership team.”

Hall’s staff will lead several tours of Sharp Coronado Hospital during the conference to demonstrate how Planetree concepts have been fully integrated into every area of the hospital.

The 2006 Conference is sponsored by Lead Sponsors Albert Kahn Associates, Inc., a leading planning, design and management firm; GetWellNetwork, a healthcare interactive services firm that works to enhance the healing and coping process to patients and care providers; and Nurture by Steelcase, a company that transforms healthcare environments to make lives better for patients, caregivers and partners in care.

Smokers Invited to Test Vaccine Against Nicotine Addiction

Smokers Invited to Test Vaccine Against Nicotine Addiction

UCSF’s Habit Abatement Clinic is testing a vaccine that enlists help from the immune system to keep nicotine away from the brain. The vaccine is designed to help smokers quit and to limit the urge to start smoking again. Called NicVax, the investigational vaccine is being developed by Nabi Biopharmaceuticals to prevent and treat nicotine addiction and to help people quit smoking.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) June 11, 2006

Normally when a smoker inhales, nicotine is carried by the bloodstream to the brain, where it triggers neuro-receptors to generate positive sensations that can lead to addiction. The vaccine stimulates the immune system to produce antibodies that recognize the small nicotine molecule. Bound to these antibodies, nicotine molecules no longer can cross the blood-brain barrier and enter the brain.

“With little or no nicotine reaching the brain, smoking is less rewarding. That gives the smoker a chance to change the behavioral and social factors that also influence smoking,” said Victor Reus, MD, principal investigator for the study at UCSF.

Because immune antibodies remain in the body for some time, Reus said it is hoped that the vaccine also will prevent relapse. When a vaccinated smoker lights up months after quitting, the person should not experience the nicotine-triggered reward that tempts most people back into the habit.

Northern California smokers over 18 are invited to join a national study to determine whether NicVax can help people abstain from smoking and help them avoid relapsing within the next 12 months. Participation is free and requires a one-year commitment to come to San Francisco for injections and follow-up visits. The study also includes five behavioral counseling sessions. Participants will be paid for each visit and given validated parking at the clinic.

For information, interested persons should call the UCSF Habit Abatement Clinic at (415) 476-7453, visit www. ucsf. edu/nosmoke (http://www. ucsf. edu/nosmoke).

UCSF is one of nine centers nationwide to participate in this phase II proof-of-principle clinical trial, which is sponsored by Nabi Biopharmaceuticals of Boca Raton, Florida, and the National Institute on Drug Abuse.

The FDA granted a “fast track” designation for the NicVax vaccine in March, to speed development and review of the drug if trial results are promising.

“Most people who smoke want to quit, and they now have a number of options to help them reduce nicotine dependence and quit smoking,” said Sharon Hall, PhD, co - principal investigator and director of the UCSF Habit Abatement Clinic. “A vaccine that could prevent the addictive action of nicotine is a promising alternative option.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, cigarette smoking contributes to 440,000 deaths each year – one-fifth of all U. S. deaths. Quitting smoking has immediate as well as long-term benefits, improving overall health as well as reducing risk for diseases caused by smoking.

The mission of the UCSF Habit Abatement Clinic is to develop and evaluate innovative treatment strategies aimed at helping people quit smoking and stay quit. Funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse and the National Cancer Institute, the Habit Abatement Clinic has been evaluating the effectiveness of smoking cessation treatment since 1980.

UCSF is a leading university that consistently defines health care worldwide by conducting advanced biomedical research, educating graduate students in the life sciences, and providing complex patient care.

Reporters/producers note: UCSF habit-abatement experts and study leaders Victor Reus, MD and Sharon Hall, PhD are available for interviews.

Internationally Recognized Doctor of Oriental Medicine Supports Benefits of Colon Cleansing with MetaCleanse Colon Cleanse for Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Internationally Recognized Doctor of Oriental Medicine Supports Benefits of Colon Cleansing with MetaCleanse Colon Cleanse for Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

Dr. Jampa Mackenzie Stewart, internationally recognized Doctor of Oriental Medicine, supports benefits of colon cleansing with a unique blend of psyllium, flaxseed and bentonite clay for treatment of Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

Austin, TX (PRWEB) December 28, 2005

Doctors estimate that 30 million Americans today require treatment for irritable bowel syndrome. Irritable bowel syndrome or IBS is a terribly uncomfortable disease made worse by its embarrassing symptoms of chronic constipation or diarrhea with gas, bloating and debilitating stomach cramps.

While the first line of treatment for IBS is almost always changing the person's diet and alleviating stress, Dr. Jampa Mackenzie Stewart, an internationally recognized Doctor of Oriental Medicine, recommends a unique blend of psyllium, flaxseed and bentonite clay as an effective IBS therapy.

"MetaCleanse Colon Cleanse is a safe and natural fiber therapy for gently encouraging healthy elimination without chemical stimulants or laxatives, with the additional benefit of delivering healing and detoxification to the colon with flaxseed and bentonite," says Dr. Stewart.

Dr. Stewart adds, "I had previously experimented with psyllium husks, colonics, and other methods of restoring intestinal balance, and I can say without reservation that Meta Colon Cleanse is now in my first line of treatment for digestive and intestinal disorders."

MetaCleanse Colon Cleanse, a high fiber intestinal colon cleansing product made from a carefully balanced combination of ground flaxseed, whole psyllium husks, and food-grade bentonite clay, offers a gentle and natural colon cleanse that is simple to take and easy on the system.

Whole natural psyllium husk is one of the best dietary fibers known to man. It adds bulk to stools, helps clear the intestines of deposits, acts as a mild intestinal lubricant and helps maintain regularity.

Flaxseed is nature's richest mega-source of the plant version of omega-3 fatty acids called alpha-linolenic acid. The Food and Drug Administration has determined that flaxseed is beneficial in, among many other things, preventing estrogen-related cancers, providing menopausal relief for hot flashes, reducing cravings for junk food and assisting in weight loss.

Bentonite clay has been used medicinally for centuries by indigenous people around the world and is recognized as an effective intestinal cleansing agent to assist in alleviating numerous health problems. Hydrated clay absorbs and binds toxins such as heavy metals, free radicals and pesticides that reside in the intestinal tract.

Meta Colon Cleanse is best mixed with water or juice and has a mild nutty taste provided by the flavor of the flaxseed.

A one-month supply of colon cleanser is only $19.95 plus shipping and handling.

Solana Systems has been producing Meta Colon Cleanse for over twenty years and has thousands of satisfied customers all over the United States.

Formulated by a health conscious lover of life with an extensive background in holistic, eastern and western medicine, Meta Colon Cleanse is available on the Internet at http://www.1meta-colon-cleanse. com and from finer health food stores and health spas.

Survey Finds Americans are Ready to Comply with New US Government Dietary Guidelines

Survey Finds Americans are Ready to Comply with New US Government Dietary Guidelines

LifeScript. com poll finds 54.7% plan to exercise more, but most are falling short of recommended daily exercise and fitness.

Mission Viejo, CA (PRWEB) January 14, 2005

The Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2005 (http://www. lifescript. com/www/PressReleases/01.13.2005/index. asp) has just been released by the government and the plan calls for Americans to increase their exercise and fitness and to reduce their risk for major chronic diseases through diet and physical activity.

LifeScript. com (http://www. lifescript. com/), the leading personalized vitamin supplement (http://www. lifescript. com/www/PressReleases/01.13.2005/index. asp) company today announced the results of the LifeScript Health Poll and found that Americans are planning to comply. “We were pleased to see that the new Dietary Guidelines for Americans (http://www. lifescript. com/www/PressReleases/01.13.2005/index. asp) include increased exercise and fitness, good basic diet recommendations and a new focus on the importance of nutrients and vitamins.” said LifeScript CEO Ron Caporale, “In addition, it is encouraging to see that Americans in our poll are planning to improve their health in the coming year.”

The polls were answered by over 10,000 of the subscribers to the free LifeScript Healthy Advantage Internet Newsletter. Americans pledged to exercise more for their New Years resolution (54.7%), the second resolution was to lose weight (32.1%), followed by stop smoking (9.4%).

However, the current exercise program of survey respondents does not meet the criteria of the new US Dietary Guidelines. The new guidelines call for Americans to engage in regular physical activity to reduce the risk of chronic disease in adulthood. Individuals should exercise a minimum of 30 minutes per day or 3.5 hours per week, and adults looking to lose weight should participate in 60-90 minutes of daily moderate-intensity physical activity while not exceeding caloric intake requirements. In the LifeScript Health Poll, 58.5% reported that on average, they do not get more than 3 hours exercise, the new recommended amount, each week.

The new Dietary Guidelines recommend the consumption of 2 cups of fruit per day, and over 54% of LifeScript Health Poll respondents are having more than 2 servings of fruit each day. Other poll results include: preferred workout location and the gym was selected by 27.8% and the home by 23.2% of respondents, 32.6% of participants report that they get less than 6 of hours sleep during the week and 43.1% of respondents dislike their body. Natique Skin Care is the most comprehensive skin care system on the market today. This four component set for women and men contains all of the essentials— vitamins A, D, and E, aloe vera, chamomile and natural oils—that work together to cleanse, soothe and nourish your skin.

Natique Skin Care, available exclusively from Vitamark International (formerly Vitacorp), embodies a revolutionary skin care technique that is the result of more than half a century of historical research.

Natique works in complete harmony with nature to clean, condition, nourish and protect the skin. When used properly, Natique produces healthy skin that glows with vitality. The Natique 4 Step Natural Look Skin Care Program has been specifically formulated both for men and women’s skin.

The secret to success with Natique is to follow the directions. To receive maximum benefits, be sure to use Natique twice daily—once in the morning and again in the evening. You’ll soon discover the wonderful difference Natique can make in the health and appearance of your skin.

Colloidal Cleanser

Removes makeup and impurities. With its colloidal flotation process, Colloidal Cleanser encourages deep cleansing. It also contains a bacteriostat and nourishes the skin. For optimum results, use morning and evening.

Use Colloidal Cleanser to wash your hands thoroughly, then dry them and pour a dime-sized amount of Colloidal Cleanser into the palm of your hand.

Lathering Cleanser

Removes any traces of Colloidal Cleanser and encourages tightening, firming and exfoliation, while nourishing the skin. If you have normal or oily skin, use morning and evening. If your skin is dry, you may wish to use only once a day.

Enriched Ultra Conditioner

Smoothes, softens and nourishes the skin—bringing a glow to your face. It moisturizes and helps guard against the effects of exposure to sun and wind. For optimum results, use morning and evening.

Protective Lotion

Formulated to tone, firm and nourish the skin, Step 4 protects from harsh environmental elements—aiding exfoliation of dead skin from the face and under the eyes, and helping reduce dark circles. It increases the effectiveness of the conditioners. For optimum results, use morning and evening.

Night Essential Complex

Provides your face with replenishing nourishment. Night Essential Complex penetrates deep into the layers of skin where damage from sun, wind and pollutants can cause fine lines and wrinkles. When applied each night after Step 4, this restorative formula repairs and rejuvenates your skin. This amazing power is based on Shark Lipid, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Green Tea Extract, Squalene, Jojoba Oil, Aloe Vera, Grape Seed Extract, Marine Collagen Complex, MSM, Hyaluronic Acid, DMAE and more. The synergistic effects of these potent antioxidants work to restore the luminous look of youth.

Natique Firming Lift

Natique Firming Lift helps remove years from the look of your skin, without dangerous, costly surgery or chemical processes. By combining the benefits of Elastin, Carrageenan, Omega 3, 6 and 9, Co Q 10, DMAE, Aloe Vera and other amazing ingredients, Natique Firming Lift can enhance and replenish your skin while helping to tighten and tone facial muscles.

Natique Firming Lift works in conjunction with Natique Skin Care. It has a cumulative effect on your skin and should be used regularly for maximum benefits. Use at least 2-3 times per week. Once your skin has reached optimum improvement, one application of Natique Firming Lift per week will help your skin maintain its youthful beauty.

QSI Touch Screen Terminal Improves Temperature and Compressor Control for American Red Cross Blood and Plasma Storage Rooms

QSI Touch Screen Terminal Improves Temperature and Compressor Control for American Red Cross Blood and Plasma Storage Rooms

QSI Corporation, manufacturer of rugged operator interface and mobile data terminals, was selected by Pro Refrigeration Inc., developers of chilling systems, to provide the graphic human machine interface (HMI) on an advanced microprocessor driven refrigeration controller. This technology was recently implemented at the newest American Red Cross facility to improve temperature and compressor control for their blood and plasma storage rooms. This new state-of-the-art facility in Pomona, California, is the largest blood bank in the United States.

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH (PRWEB) November 2, 2005

QSI Corporation, manufacturer of rugged operator interface and mobile data terminals, was selected by Pro Refrigeration Inc., developers of chilling systems, to provide the graphic human machine interface (HMI) on an advanced microprocessor driven refrigeration controller. This technology was recently implemented at the newest American Red Cross facility to improve temperature and compressor control for their blood and plasma storage rooms. This new state-of-the-art facility in Pomona, California, is the largest blood bank in the United States.

After only operating a year, the Red Cross realized their existing control system was not adequate for controlling the temperature of their blood and plasma storage rooms. With blood and plasma worth millions of dollars stored in each room, variance in room or product temperature is not acceptable. Strict quality standards require little or no temperature fluctuation of the blood and plasma, at a holding temperature of -32 °C.

The project involved the installation of Pro Refrigeration’s CR110 Controllers onto existing Red Cross condensing units, with QSI Corporation’s QTERM-G70 touch screen operator interface mounted outside the storage room, as the user interface for storage room control. The QTERM-G70 operator interface was easily customized for this application. The results included much better storage room temperature control, more effective defrost cycles, improved data logging ability and overall improved system control.

QSI’s QTERM-G70 is a rugged, Ethernet-enabled graphic human-machine terminal using a touch screen to interface with the user. This rugged terminal features a robust list of industrial-grade hardware features and options including a 320x240 lighted graphic LCD display (color or grayscale); 100Base-T Ethernet with TCP/IP support; touch screen with optional PS/2 keyboard connection; and a EIA-232, -422 or -485 serial interface. The QTERM-G70 graphic terminal is ruggedized for use in harsh industrial environments and is NEMA-4 rated and CE certified.

The QTERM-G70 uses an object-based graphic terminal programming language called Qlarity™ (pronounced Clarity). Designing a simple control panel interface or a complete stand-alone application has never been easier. The ability to use pre-defined objects, edit existing objects or author your own objects, provides flexibility to the novice and expert alike. Qlarity Foundry™, a PC-based design tool, provides a Windows® environment for screen creation, application simulation, debugging and downloading to the QTERM-G70 terminal.

“We are pleased to have worked with Pro Refrigeration on such an important project for the American Red Cross," said Jim Elwell, President of QSI. "It is rewarding to know QSI’s products are a part of a solution to properly store precious blood and plasma used in hospitals to save lives."

"We are honored to have worked on this challenging and successful project with American Red Cross,” said John Butorac, Controls Specialist for Pro Refrigeration, Inc. “With the QTERM-G70 and the CR110, we were able to successfully eliminate many components of the existing system, while delivering a completely redundant control system.”

J&B Restaurant Partners Reaches New Heights; Company Helps Nonprofits & Charities

J&B Restaurant Partners Reaches New Heights; Company Helps Nonprofits & Charities

Ronkonkoma, N. Y. (PRWEB) August 14, 2005

J&B Restaurant PartnersÂ’ (J&B) legacy of giving back to the communities in which they serve has reached new heights this summer.

Just this year, the organization, which operates leading restaurant brands such as all the FriendyÂ’s Restaurants on Long Island, several Taco Bells and manages all the concessions at Jones Beach and Robert Moses State Parks, has supported local nonprofits and charitable organizations in their efforts to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for their specific causes.

“We care very much for our customers and the communities where we do business” said Joe Vitrano, president of J&B Restaurant Partners. “Giving back to the communities is part of our mission.”

Since the beginning of the year, J&B has participated and supported a wide array of charitable events whose results have been phenomenal:

-On May 15, 2005, J&B provided lunch to more than 2,000 participants who walked 5 kilometers on the Jones Beach Boardwalk in support of the National Alliance for Mentally (NAMI). NAMI educates the public about different kinds of mental illnesses and raises awareness about the stigma attached to such illnesses. The event raised $130,000 for NAMI research and programs.

-In addition, J&B has taken an active role in supporting the American Heart Association. Every year at many Long Island schools, the AHA sponsors the “Jump Rope for Heart,” a fundraiser that teaches children about maintaining a healthy lifestyle while jumping rope. This year, the event raised more than $900,000, with J&B distributing over 150,000 FREE Happy Ending Sundaes to fundraising students across Long Island who participated in the Jump Rope for Heart program. In addition J&B hosted a post-event dinner for students, principals, and other coordinators at their Top Flight Food Court at Nassau Community College.

-J&B gave a gift certificate for $2,000 worth of sports equipment to Sawmill Mandracchia Intermediate School in Commack for raising $24,000 for the American Heart Association Jump Rope For Heart program, the most money raised by any school here on Long Island. They also gave bicycles to the top four students from schools all over Long Island who raised the most money individually during the Jump Rope for Heart program.

-In June 2005, J&B was the exclusive sponsor of the Michael J. Tenaglia Miracle Miles program at Garden City that raised approximately $25,000. The Miracle Miles program which was coordinated by The Miracle Club at Garden City High School which consists of fundraising students who promote cancer awareness and community service among students and the community in which they live. The students devote their time and energy to volunteering, raising funds and participating in various school and community projects designed to make an impact for those who suffer from the effects of cancer.

-During the beginning of the year, J&B helped Easter Seals to raise over $100,000 for their program. The money is used here on Long Island to help individuals with disabilities.

-And currently, J&B is supporting Easter Seals’ First Long Island “Walk With Me” program that will take place in September at Jones Beach State Park. Thousands of walkers are expected to participate. The money raised will support children and adults with disabilities.

The year is only half through and the momentum is rising. J&B is already committed to supporting several nonprofits and their causes during the remainder of the year. “There is no better way for us as a company to thank the Long Island community than to help others” explains Joe Vitrano. “It is a wonderful feeling to know that we can make a difference.”

Pasadena Public Health Department Deploys Virtual Command Center for Sierra Madre and Southern California Wildfires

Pasadena Public Health Department Deploys Virtual Command Center for Sierra Madre and Southern California Wildfires

The Pasadena Public Health Department deployed the MissionMode virtual command center last week in response to the California wildfires. By using MissionMode, they were able to reduce their time to action, while increasing the effectiveness of their response for the community.

Winston Salem, NC (PRWEB) May 7, 2008

Winston-Salem, NC (PRWEB) May 7, 2008 - California is going through another onset of ravaging wildfires that put homes, business and lives in danger. The Pasadena Public Health Department has taken action to make sure that the community has the resources it needs in order to respond and recover from these devastating situations. With public safety and health at the forefront, the health department has chosen to use MissionMode, a leading provider of emergency notification (http://www. missionmode. com/products/emergency__notification/index. htm) and crisis management software, for emergency operations. Early last week, in the wake of the wildfires, Pasadena put MissionMode to the test, with outstanding results.

After making the decision to deploy the use of MissionMode early last Monday, the Pasadena Public Health Department was able to ensure that all key personnel were up to speed on all events surrounding the wildfire. By logging onto the MissionMode online Virtual Command Center (http://www. missionmode. com/products/incident__management__system/index. htm), officials were able to track events in response to the incident and update progress made on the incident action plan that was uploaded in to the command center. Press releases and other public notices were also posted into the command center so that calls from the press could be easily and directly answered by the public information officers, allowing more effective and clear communication to the public through the media.

The Pasadena Public Health Department used MissionMode to make sure that they had the proper personnel and information to ensure the public was safe. With different incident command functions logging in information to the command center, the health department was able to alert their critical staff and on-site nursing care to air quality and evacuation needs and procedures. With many of the evacuees worrying about the state of their homes and lives, the Pasadena Public Health Department was also able to send out mental health workers to the shelters to talk with people and address concerns, all of which was managed with MissionMode.

"Having the MissionMode system in place was a great benefit to our department as we were all able to quickly and efficiently keep all field, emergency operations center and department operation center staff in synch with each other," said Ed Anderson, Emergency Operations Unit Coordinator for the Pasadena Public Health Department. "Everyone could be virtually at the same place at the same time and have access to all the same information. We were able to streamline our meeting process by covering hot topic issues online and directing our staff to the discussion thread that covered their issue rather than taking precious department time. Redundancy was kept to a minimum. MissionMode was everything that we could have hoped it would be and it was easy to use. It definitely proved its worth."

About MissionMode:
MissionMode Solutions, Inc. is a technology services provider dedicated to streamlining crisis communications and facilitating team collaboration in a secure environment. MissionMode's unique combination of alert notification and online crisis management creates a virtual command center that helps private and public sector organizations reduce the time between knowing about a mission critical issue and doing something about it. Cancer Cured. The Next Generation in Healthcare

Cancer Cured. The Next Generation in Healthcare.

Healthcare and insurance in one. Exclusive members only! Each center is boldly decorated. Be greeted and treated more as a guest than as a patient.

(PRWEB) September 3, 2003

Exclusive members only! Each center is boldly decorated. More nightclub atmosphere than medical center. All of the sizzle and excitement of a fine casino. Be greeted and treated more as a guest than as a patient. All day "whole body" physicals are available.

Should a patient be required to stay overnight for observation, the family will be equiped with a pager and luxury accommoditions at a nearby hotel. The kind of treatment you would like and expect from a healthcare facility.

Healthcare and insurance in one! Standard medicine, holistic medcine, and insurance under one roof. Caregivers can provide you with insurance for holistic and alternative therapy. Family coverage for only $2 per day. Just $60 per month. Three programs to choose from allows the patient to control their medical coverage.

Now I know reading about cancer can be depressing and usually boring, unless you are the cancer patient. You say to yourself that you are too young or not nearly old enough to be concerned about cancer. That's something terminal for old people. I don't work in a coal mine or steel mill. I don't have anything to worry about. The truth is one of every two adults will be diagnosed with some form of cancer in their lifetime. More than 100,000 women each year are diagnosed with breast cancer. But, cancer is incurable and surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy is the only hope of saving the patient. WRONG!

A new method we use for cancer patients consists of just three main components. 1. A darkfield (electron) microscope capable of differentiating the cancer cells from the healthy cells. 2. Computer software to control the impulse charge of the cell "laser" gun. 3. A "laser" or wire rod the size of a syringe. The patient would have two holes in the skin basically the size of a hyperdermic needle. No major surgery, radiation or chemotherapy is needed. Major cancer disease can be reduced to the level of say an appendicitis attack or a bad case of pnuemonia. Downgraded from terminal to a guarded condition. With enough research breast cancer and skin cancer would be eliminated. Liver and lung cancer deaths would be slashed to a minimal number of patients each year. Colon and ovarian cancer would be reduced to an outpatient office visit. Treatment would be reduced to a five to seven day ordeal instead of weeks.

The procedure is called CCT, Cancer Cell Terminator. The discovery of National Healthcare Center, the culmination of two years of research for a single minded project, the termination of cancer. All cancer consists of mutated cells. These cells can be killed with 107 degrees farrenheit. Cellular modification, termination, and elimination occurs within the isolated area of the patient's tumor. The tumor is literally destroyed one cancer cell at a time. Of course the procedure is to kill the cells literally at the speed of light. The dead cells are then filtered out of the body through the liver and kidneys. The immune system (white blood cells) is strenghtened and recovery is faster. The success rate would be between 90 to 95% on average for cancer patients. late stage patients would require the longest treatment, up to 30 days. And brain tumors are the most difficult cases to handle due to the delicate location of the tumor. When the cancer cells are removed the organ and tissue return to normal. Treatment at the cellular level means that the mutation has to start at the beginning stage again. It would take years for the cells to grow into a life threatening tumor again. With appropriate guidance and a periodical check up the cancer would never return. The patient would virtually be terated one time and live the rest of their life cancer free.

"I claim to reach out and take you by the hand. To lead you back to a healthier life." (National Healthcare Center)

Indiana Minority Health Coalition Seeks to Raise Awareness About HIV/AIDS

April is the national designated month for Minority Health. In recognition of this month, the Indiana Minority Health Coalition (IMHC)— state’s leading minority health research and community care agency—will offer several educational and advocacy activities under this year's health initiative focus of HIV/AIDS.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (PRWEB) April 1, 2006

April is the national designated month for Minority Health. In recognition of this month, the Indiana Minority Health Coalition (IMHC)— state’s leading minority health research and community care agency—will offer several educational and advocacy activities under this year's health initiative focus of HIV/AIDS.

The agency is seeking participation from communities across the state to increase awareness about HIV/AIDS and its impact on Indiana residents.

The agency is requesting interested individuals and groups to engage in advocacy and action days around the state to support the creation of “The HIV Gap Fund.” The HIV Gap Fund will provide individuals with resource to help obtain their medication if they are faced with shortfalls in insurance, co-pays, spend downs or lack of social services.

The activities, including town hall meetings and special outreach programs, will culminate with a rally and march from Monument Circle in Indianapolis to the Indiana State House, at 1 p. m. on April 19.

Then on April 20, IMHC will present its 12th annual initiative luncheon, "Think Global Act Local: a focus on HIV/AIDS,” on April 20 at The Westin Hotel, in downtown Indianapolis, from 11 am – 2 pm. The luncheon will feature keynote speaker David R. Williams.

Williams is Harold W. Cruse Collegiate Professor of Sociology, Senior Research Scientist at the Institute for Social Research, and Faculty Associate in the Center of Afro-American and African Studies at the University of Michigan. His research has focused on social influences on health and he is centrally interested in the trends and determinants of socioeconomic and racial differences in mental and physical health.

Additionally, LaToya Rogers, a Gary teen, will share her experiences living with HIV since birth.

"IMHC is dedicated to closing the gap in health care in our communities. We are rallying to save the lives of our loved ones, neighbors and co-workers. The HIV/AIDS education and advocacy activities from now through April are just our way of bringing awareness about this health epidemic and the action needed to prolong life right here in Indiana,” said IMHC CEO and President Nancy Jewell.

National Ski Areas Association Names Mountain High Best In Class

National Ski Areas Association Names Mountain High Best In Class

Mountain High was awarded Best In Class for its Community Outreach Program in the 2005 Heads Up initiative.

Wrightwood, CA (PRWEB) October 20, 2005

Mountain High was awarded Best In Class for its Community Outreach Program in the 2005 Heads Up initiative. This program, produced by the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA), promotes safety and etiquette at resorts throughout the country. Out of more than 200 areas, Mountain High was recognized as the best for its safety efforts both on and off the hill. Starting early, Mountain High offers many after school ski/snowboard programs that teach kids the proper ways to enjoy winter sports. And, it does it in an entertaining way that creates ownership and loyalty. Resort employees also lead by example with helmets and other protective gear. And Mountain High’s managers cater to the bilingual market by offering safety signage that uses easy-to-recognize symbols instead of words.

Says Rose Reinhardt, Risk Manager, “It’s important to us that all guests have a safe experience, and the best way to do that is by making sure they know how the rules of the mountain.”

Mountain High has one of the most ethnically diverse clienteles in the nation, and getting various groups to understand on-hill safety messages has been a challenge. Last season the area erected huge signs at the base of each resort with Smart Style language and symbols. The visual effect of these 128 square foot billboards was amazing, and the message was clear to both English-speaking patrons and non. Using a combination of language and symbols helped those who can’t, or flatly refuse to, read get at least a hint of safety information. The resort as a whole has seen a reduction in collisions and a more understanding group of riders.

Mountain High’s After School Ski/Snowboard Adventure attracts some 75 schools from throughout Southern California. Rick Strasser, an active firefighter with over 20 years of patrolling experience, and his trusty search dogs, Shasta & Sequoia, travel to each participating school prior to their visit to teach the Heads Up Program, the Responsibility Code, and the Smart Style slogans. On the bus, children participate in Guess the Code & Name a Safety Slogan games, and, when they arrive at the mountain, are greeted by members of Mountain High’s Patrol Staff.

Employees play a key role in supporting Mountain High’s safety campaign. Currently all 210 Instructors, 62 Patrollers, and 28 Terrain Park staff wear helmets. Coincidentally retail sales of helmets jumped 50% last season as more and more guests began to wear them. The resort also places Responsibility Code and Smart Style information on the back of all employee identifications as well as napkins, coffee cups, and bathroom doors. Rose Reinhardt, Mountain High’s Risk Manager, even attends off-hill safety fairs where she speaks with participants about the Heads Up program, Smart Style, and Kids With Lids.

Mountain High is proud of its accomplishments and the friendly environment it has created. Generating life-long participants is not something that is done overnight, but with campaigns that mirror both fun and safety, resorts can increase their chances of guests returning healthy and happy.

For more information or to schedule an interview, please feel free to contact Karl Kapuscinski, President and CEO, at (760) 316-7800 or John McColly, Director of Marketing, at (760) 316-7830.
