(PRWEB) March 5, 2005

AC Comics has signed an exclusive licensing agreement with Reelart Studios to produce 1/6 th scale pre painted resin statues of their gorgeous FEMFORCE girls and, where applicable, the Golden Age counterparts of these characters. Created by AC head honcho and all around raconteur, Bill Black, the FEMFORCE is the first and longest lived of any all girl superhero groups....and these ladies aren't just your ordinary looking gals either. Like Matt Baker, Bob Lubbers, Bill Ward, Jack Cole and many other Golden Age artists whose specialty was rendering the beauty of the female form in sequential art, Black & company have achieved that look for the past twenty years with their quality art and superb storytelling ability.

The first piece being developed in the series is "The Blue Bulleteer." developed by Bill Black and based on art by Brad Gorby and Black. The Blue Bulleteer's costume is based on the Fox Features Matt Baker version of the Phantom Lady character. The Blue Bulleteer is the masked alter ego of Laura Wright from her World War II beginnings in 1943 into the 1960s before she becomes the sorceress, Nightveil. The sculpting chores on The Blue Bulleteer will be done by Shawn Nagle, a master craftsman at defining the power of the human form in sculpture.

Both AC Comics and ReelArt Studios have a great deal of interest and respect for the Golden Age of comics and their creators. The line of statues will pay homage to the original Golden Age artists who drew these characters by involving them in the development process and having them sign limited editions of their characters Obviously this can only be done in a few instances as we have lost so many of these wonderful talents, but the attempt will be made where availability lends itself. ReelArt Studios will also be donating $500.00 of selected Golden Age character profits towards A. C.T. O.R. Comic Fund. A. C.T. O.R. (A Commitment To Our Roots) is a federally chartered non profit organization developed to provide monetary assistance to former comic book creators requiring supplemental health, medical, and quality-of-life assistance. To find out more information or make a donation, please visit www. actorcomicfund. org.

AC Comics Bill Black states, "I'm happy to be associated with ReelArt Studios because, in regards to the enjoyment of the Golden Age of comics, we seem to be cut from the same cloth. After viewing Shawn Nagle's excellent sculpting up close, I am certain that he will do a superb job of forming gorgeous statuettes of our FEMFORCE ladies. These figures will be popular not just to FEMFORCE fans but to everyone, worldwide, who appreciate the female form."

ReelArt Studios owner Michael Hudson says that "We are real happy to be working with Bill, Mark Heike and Brad Gorby. The AC Comics' business philosophy as well as their respect for the creators who came before them makes the union an exciting environment for ReelArt Studios."

A. C.T. O.R. Comic Fund President Jim McLauchlin commented, ”It isn’t every day that A. C.T. O.R. gets an opportunity like this and we are grateful for it. ReelArt Studios is a top notch operation that holds comic book veterans in the same high regard as we do."

The Blue Bulleteer statue is in pre production sculpting stages now and is scheduled to be on the market by mid July to August of 2005. This highly collectible edition will extremely limited. The National Hemophilia Foundation Launches Victory for Women Initiative

The National Hemophilia Foundation Launches Victory for Women Initiative

Music Video Kicked Off Initiative to Raise Awareness of Blood Disorders in Women

New York (PRWEB) November 16, 2010

The National Hemophilia Foundation (NHF) launched its new initiative, Victory for Women, at their 62nd Annual Meeting in New Orleans, November 11 through 13. Since most women affected by the most common hereditary bleeding disorder, von Willebrand disease (VWD), don’t even know they have it, the campaign is designed to generate awareness outside of the bleeding community and empower women to seek accurate diagnosis and healthcare.

At the center of the campaign is the music video, “Victory for Women,” featuring emerging contemporary musical artist, Jessica Rae, who also composed the music. The song uses a catchy tune and an emotional appeal to build awareness of and goodwill toward NHF. Tom Jordan, an award winning creative director at Hoffman York with a portfolio of original music, wrote the upbeat and optimistic lyrics to unite and evoke emotion among women with blood disorders. Kevin Kalausakas was brought on to add the visual element as the music video producer. The goal of the video is for people to “spread the word” about blood disorders through the various new communications and social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) and spark concern in women to protect their bodies and to form a community in which women with these blood disorders can turn to for support.

Also featured in the video is a maroon, silk scarf that was created for the Victory for Women initiative to serve as a symbol of unity and support for women with blood disorders. To view the video visit, http://on. fb. me/boW63k.

“We believe in the power of music to stir emotion and help people open their hearts to this incredible cause,” said Jordan. “We used the scarf in the video to show women they’re not alone.”

At the annual meeting, NHF also recognized three fashion, film and television luminaries for their efforts in helping put hemophilia and other bleeding disorders in the spotlight. Patrick McMullan, the famed New York City nightlife photographer and Vanity Fair contributing editor, was honored for donating his photography skills to create a “Faces of Women with Bleeding Disorders” calendar for the Victory for Women campaign featuring women with bleeding disorders wearing the maroon, silk scarf. McMullan’s efforts are fueled by his passion to keep his sister’s memory alive. Doreen McMullan McCarthy, who died in 1979 from complications of von Willebrand disease, is featured in “Iron Butterfly,” the cover story for the Fall 2010 issue of HemAware, NHF’s award-winning magazine and can be viewed at http://www. hemaware. org.

Creator and producer of USA Network TV show “Royal Pains” Andrew Lenchewski and his father, Dr. Enrique Lenchewski were recognized for creating the popular character Tucker Bryant, a teenager with hemophilia and Emmy Award-winning film producer, Marilyn Ness, was recognized for her documentary “Bad Blood: A Cautionary Tale.”

As the largest bleeding disorders conference in the country, NHF’s Annual Meeting was attended by more than 2,000 guests, including consumers, healthcare providers, researchers, industry representatives, and NHF chapter/association staff from across the country, and other global nonprofit organizations. Making the conference a great opportunity to kick off the Victory for Women initiative and start raising awareness about blood disorders affecting women.

NHF hopes to raise awareness of the Victory for Women initiative outside the bleeding disorders community through social media channels with Americans sharing this message with friends and family. To be a part of Victory for Women follow the cause on Facebook and Twitter. To view the “Victory for Women” music video check out the NHF YouTube channel or visit http://on. fb. me/boW63k.

For more information about the Victory for Women initiative or to make a donation, visit http://www. victoryforwomen. org. Donations of $15 receive the “Faces of Women with Bleeding Disorders” calendar; donations of $20 receive the red, silk scarf featured in the video and in the calendar.

NACDD Leader Participates in Hill Briefing Focused on Health Reform

NACDD Leader Participates in Hill Briefing Focused on Health Reform

Marcus Plescia, President of the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors (NACDD), spoke on Capitol Hill today about the best way to begin reforming our broken health care system - by focusing on chronic disease prevention and care.

Washington, D. C. (PRWEB) February 27, 2009

Marcus Plescia, President of the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors (NACDD), spoke on Capitol Hill today about the best way to begin reforming our broken health care system - by focusing on chronic disease prevention and care.

"When it comes to the current health reform debate, the good news that we are no longer are asking whether we must reduce chronic disease rates, but how we can do so," said Plescia during his remarks. "For two decades, NACDD's members -- nearly 1,500 public health officials from every state and U. S. territory -- have advocated the same message that the President delivered in his address to the nation this week: If we are going to make a significant impact on health outcomes and affordability, we must address our nation's high rates of chronic disease."

The briefing, "Making Progress on Health Reform: Where does Chronic Disease Fit In?" is the first in a series called Health Care University, being sponsored by the Partnership to Fight Chronic Disease (PFCD). As a PFCD partner, NACDD joins PFCD in supporting comprehensive health care reform that targets the number one driver of the cost of health care - preventable and manageable chronic diseases.

"We commend President Obama and Congress for their commitment to health care reform in the area of chronic disease," said Plescia. "We look forward to working with the Administration to ensure that Americans across the country are able to better prevent and manage chronic diseases in their schools, communities and workplaces."

NACDD is dedicated to raising awareness about the need to address chronic diseases, and also to providing policymakers with concrete solutions. Earlier this year, NACDD released a white paper outlining recommendations for the 111th Congress as it looks for meaningful ways to reform the health care system. Its recommendations focus on improving the public health infrastructure through investments in areas of chronic disease prevention.

Additionally, NACDD has developed a resource of state success stories for policymakers at the state and federal level that highlights more than 150 programs from across the country that are effectively reducing chronic diseases.

About the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors (NACDD)

The National Association of Chronic Disease Directors (NACDD) is a national public health association for chronic disease program directors of each state and U. S. territory. The NACDD works to reduce the impact of chronic diseases on the American population by advocating for preventive policies and programs, encouraging sharing of knowledge and developing partnerships for health promotion. CCH CompleteTax Outlines What First-Time Filers Need to Know as Tax Season Gets Underway

CCH CompleteTax Outlines What First-Time Filers Need to Know as Tax Season Gets Underway

There is a first time for everything, even taxes. CCH CompleteTax analyst David Bergstein answers questions first-time filers may have as they prepare their income tax returns this year, including the information they need to get started, tax preparation options and common mistakes to avoid.

Riverwoods, IL (Vocus) January 26, 2007

Along with the first job and a first apartment, another rite of passage into adulthood happens for millions of young Americans each spring: the first time filing income tax (http://www. CompleteTax. com) returns by themselves. And, although hundreds of millions of Americans have made this transition over the past 90-plus year history of the modern U. S. income tax, it really has gotten more complex to do your taxes than it was even 10 years ago, according to CCH, a Wolters Kluwer business and a leading provider of tax and accounting information, software and services.

"The instruction manual alone for the Form 1040 (http://www. CompleteTax. com) is 84 pages, not including 60 additional pages to explain the accompanying 1040 schedules," said David Bergstein, CPA, a tax analyst for CCH CompleteTax (http://www. CompleteTax. com), an online tax program for the do-it-yourself tax filer. "That's intimidating for anyone, let alone someone who's filing his taxes on his own for the first time."

Below, CCH outlines what individuals coming of income-tax age need to know as they head out on their maiden income tax voyage.

Do I need to file a tax return?

Assuming you are at least 18 years old and your 2006 gross income is at least $8,450 (or $16,900 if married filing jointly), you generally have to file an income tax return. If you are under age 18, your parents can include your income on their return. Even if you do not otherwise have to file a return, you should if you want to get a refund of any federal income tax (http://www. CompleteTax. com) withheld. You also should file if you are eligible for any credits, including a special federal telephone excise tax (http://www. CompleteTax. com) paid credit available to all eligible households for 2006.

What information do I need to start to prepare my return?

Among the key materials you should have on hand when you start working on your tax return (http://www. CompleteTax. com):

Your tax return from 2005. So, if your parents are still holding on to your records from last year, make sure you get them before you start preparing your 2006 return. Also, if you got married this year and you and your spouse are filing jointly, you'll need your spouse's tax return from last year as well. Your Social Security number as well as the Social Security number for your spouse or children, if applicable. All W-2s (the form from your employer listing your wages and taxes withheld during 2006), 1099s (statements related to dividend income, proceeds from selling mutual funds, etc., provided by your financial services institutions), and mortgage interest statements or other statements related to income such as bank or brokerage statements. All statements related to expenses that you hope to claim on your tax return, including receipts from charitable organizations. Your bank's name, your routing number and account number if you are expecting a tax refund (http://www. CompleteTax. com) and want it deposited directly into your bank account (all this information can be found on the front of your checks).

"You should have a single file where you keep this information, so you can check items off the list as you gather them, and then contact institutions if you have not received the information you need, for example, a W-2 from an employer or a bank statement," said Bergstein.

How should I prepare my return?

Generally, that's driven by how involved you want to be in the process, how complicated your tax situation is and how much you're willing to pay to have your tax returns completed.

The majority of individuals rely on a professional tax preparer to complete their returns. However, a growing number of individuals are using online or software programs to prepare their taxes.

"As more taxpayers become adept at using computers, most will find that online tax preparation (http://www. CompleteTax. com) programs, such as CompleteTax, offer a very good value," according to Bergstein. Taxpayers need to use care in evaluating the different options because some programs start with a base price, but then tack on additional costs, which can quickly add up. Whether a program provides tax preparation for both federal and state income tax returns, how the programs present information and the types of support offered also vary.

"Ultimately, shopping for a tax preparation program is like shopping for any other financial service," said Bergstein. "You need to ask: does the service meet your needs with the support you want at a price you can afford?"

Taxpayers (http://www. CompleteTax. com) who have complicated tax situations should seek help from a professional preparer.

"If you've just inherited a considerable amount of money, gone through a divorce or had some other major life-changing event that has an impact on your personal finances, you should speak with a professional tax preparer about how this could affect your tax situation and ways you may be able to minimize this impact," said Bergstein.

What are common mistakes I should try to avoid?

Among the most common mistakes you want to avoid are:

Forgetting to include a Social Security number. Make sure to list all required Social Security numbers on your return, including children claimed as dependents. Math errors. Check your math twice as numbers that don't add up can trigger audits. Overlooking a statement. Accurately report all statements (W-2, 1099, 1098 forms, etc.). Forgetting a tax form (http://www. CompleteTax. com). Include all of the necessary forms with your return. Not having proof of deductions. Make sure you can substantiate your deductions with receipts, logs or some other proof. Throwing away tax information. Keep all receipts and tax records for at least three years. After this time, the chances of being audited are reduced.

What are my filing options?

Regardless of whether you rely on a computer program or a tax professional to prepare your return, you can choose to either electronically file (http://www. CompleteTax. com) your return or mail a hard copy of your return to the IRS.

Increasingly, individuals are electing to e-file (http://www. CompleteTax. com), and, among the fastest growing areas of e-filing are self-filers, with 20 million individuals e-filing their own 2005 returns.

E-filing is not only generally easier but it also can mean getting a refund in just two weeks compared to the six or more weeks it can take to receive a tax refund from a mailed return. If you elect to have your tax refund electronically deposited, it can be even faster.

After I file my return and pay what I owe or get my refund, am I done?

Even after you've filed your return, your work may not be done.

"If you're excited because you got a big refund, the reality is that you just provided the IRS with an interest-free loan," Bergstein said. "Talk to your employer about adjusting your withholdings. This year, you should try to return some of that refund to your savings and next year the tax laws will change so that you can automatically channel all or part of your return to a retirement account. If you don't get in the habit of spending the refund, it's a great way to painlessly build up your 401(k)."

On the flip side, if you owed a lot, you also need to adjust your withholdings appropriately to ensure you don't find yourself in a penalty situation of underpaying your taxes in future years.

Milk Moguls Found Untruthful, Dishonest and Unsubstantiated as Dairy Shown Red Light by Vegans

Milk Moguls Found Untruthful, Dishonest and Unsubstantiated as Dairy Shown Red Light by Vegans

Small UK Vegan Charity win case against global dairy giant in false health and nutrition claims. The UK Advertising Standards Authority have upheld The Vegan Society’s complaint about Nestle’s misleading nutrition and health claims that cow's milk is an essential part of the human diet.

(PRWEB) October 9, 2005

Following the UK ASA findings against Nestle top London Nutritionist Yvonne Bishop-Weston said "Manufacturers and agencies that promote cow's milk products will have to be far more careful in the future. Cows’ milk is a good source of calcium for a baby cow - helping it grow to the size of a small shed in a few weeks. Human nutritional needs are more complex - we need magnesium and vitamins K & D to fully utilise calcium and we certainly don't need all that saturated animal fat that comes free with cows’ milk."

It’s not more milk but more fruit and vegetables that are needed in people's diets - especially green leafy veg rich in essential fats, vitamins, minerals, antioxidents and phytonutrients.

There have been a lot of snake oil type misleading claims about cows’ milk recently - the Nestle advert is just one amongst many. Despite attempts to feed cows fish and genetically engineer the cows to make their milk more suitable for humans cows’ milk is still best suited for calves.

It’s anticipated that milk will also suffer in the new UK Food Standards Agency traffic light system for healthier food labelling. It’s so tempting for manufacturers and caterers to ditch the dairy to move a dish from a red light category to an amber label in the midst of increasing consumer consciousness about nutrition, diet and healthy eating.

Complaint:

The Vegan Society and a member of the public objected to an advertorial on the AOL website. The article was aimed at women and entitled "Mastering Your Metabolism Part 3: Eat well, feel great." One paragraph was headed "Dairy Products" and stated "Essential for healthy bones...". The complainants objected that the ad was misleading because it was not necessary to eat dairy products to obtain healthy bones. ( Codes Section: 3.1, 6.1, 7.1 (Ed 11))

Adjudication:

Complaints upheld

Nestle UK said they recognised that there were other sources of calcium and they had not intended to suggest that dairy products were the only source of calcium.

The ASA considered that the use of the word "essential" implied dairy products were the only source of calcium. Because that was not correct, they concluded that the advertorial was likely to mislead and advised Nestle to amend the claim and to seek assistance from the CAP Copy Advice team before using a similar campaign in future.

The advertorial breached CAP Code clauses 3.1 (Substantiation), 6.1 (Honesty) and 7.1 (Truthfulness).

AXIOM Announces Availability of Gateway Library of Tools - Automated Process Cuts Sybase/New Era of NetworksÂ’ EC Gateway Implementation Time from Days to Minutes

AXIOM Systems, Inc., a leading healthcare IT consulting firm today announced the availability of a robust library of tools to automate the implementation processes for Sybase/New Era of Networks (formerly PaperFree) EC Gateway customers.

(PRWEB) February 13, 2002

GERMANTOWN, MD -- (INTERNET WIRE) -- February 6, 2002 -- AXIOM Systems, Inc., a leading healthcare IT consulting firm today announced the availability of a robust library of tools to automate the implementation processes for Sybase/New Era of Networks (formerly PaperFree) EC Gateway customers.

Sybase/New Era of NetworksÂ’ EC Gateway is a powerful message management tool with a wide variety of configuration options. Capitalizing on their extensive experience with EC Gateway, AXIOM has created a suite of tools designed to standardize these configuration options to have a long-term positive impact on the success of the implementation. Known as the Gateway Library of Tools, these automated processes will standardize the development environment, reduce learning curves, and significantly reduce the development cycle.

The Gateway Library of Tools was developed to provide clients with standardized message-management scripts that can be easily configured and tested, allowing the user to quickly implement new trading partners and business processes. The library is well designed for easy integration into an organizationÂ’s environment. It integrates with a variety of production control systems, and can incorporate a variety of communications packages including Procomm Plus, Reflections, Exceed, and others.

“To enhance the solid strength of EC Gateway, we identified a need for standardized implementation processes, allowing clients to bring on new processes and trading partners far more quickly,” said Pete Austin, EDI practice lead of AXIOM. “With the Gateway Library of Tools, customers have seen new process implementation times reduced from a week to less than an hour,” added Austin.

No longer a dirty word: Do-gooder! People around the world are proud to call themselves do-gooder's thanks to Do-Gooder International

No longer a dirty word: Do-gooder! People around the world are proud to call themselves do-gooder's thanks to Do-Gooder International.

Do-Gooder International posts short-term, measurable projects online. Do-gooder's around the world can "pick a project--make a difference".

(PRWEB) June 15, 2004

In today's cynical world, fewer people are willing to donate money to charities. Do-gooder International has found a solution--and its the first of its kind. Founder and Director Terry Lane of Lancaster, PA has created a unique giving model.

The Do-gooder website (www. do-gooder. org) posts small, measurable projects where donators go online, research projects, and decide which projects they want to help. They don't donate money, instead, they ship books, shoes, school supplies, yarn, blankets, and so forth. They purchase and ship the materials themselves, and they let do-gooder know how much was shipped. Do-gooder communicates directly with the recipient to ensure that the materials were received and usable. Then, the tally is adjusted on the web site.

For example, through Do-gooder, hundreds of children's books have now been shipped to the Tiospaye Topa Reservation School in South Dakota. Do-gooder's have also shipped mittens to orphans in Kazakhstan and school supplies to City of Angels Orphanage in Mexico. Do-gooder tries to keep the project list to about ten.

"The purpose of this website is to give more exposure to people who are working to solve problems on a project-by-project basis," explains Lane.

Urgent projects include providing beds and bedding for people living on the Pine Ridge Reservation, and providing children's clothing and baby needs to a hospital in Kazakhstan. Sponsors are also desperately needed for indigenous elders and children in the US, Peru, Kazakhstan, and Uganda. Many of the sponsorship programs featured do not require a monthly fee.

Do-gooder International is not affiliated with any religion or religious organization or any particular political party or group. "We respect diversity in cultures and religions and we do not seek to impose our own. Neither do we discriminate on the basis of gender, sexual identity, age, race, or nationality. We do not get paid. We do not ask for money. No one is charged any fee associated with this website," says Lane. Lane pays for all costs associated with maintaining the web site.

Most of the projects focus on helping women and children--on literacy and education, better health, ending abuse and sexual discrimination of all kinds, developmental projects for indigenous peoples and women and children in rural areas, and ending chronic poverty.

Do-gooder Intl. features projects that they believe are achievable and where additional exposure would make a big difference. They do not feature projects that would ordinarily be able to obtain sufficient government aid or provide their own publicity and web exposure.

Do-gooder provides a monthly eNewsletter and the web site includes articles, letters, interviews, and an extensive links section.

For more information, visit the web site at www. do-gooder. org or write to: info@do-gooder. org, P O Box 102, Lancaster, PA 17543. Terry Lane is a communications specialist specializing in social welfare, especially among indigenous women and children throughout the world.

Bush Venous Lectures: On-line courses

Bush Venous Lectures: On-line courses

Take accredited courses in the comfort of your home or office from Dr. Ronald Bush, MD FACS. Dr. Bush is one of the nations leading specialists in venous diseases.

Cincinnati, OH (PRWEB) May 14, 2010

May 10, 2010 – Venous disease is a potentially crippling condition that affects 15% of the adult population. A series of video lectures demonstrating current treatment options as well as new techniques for venous disease are available online for health care professionals and nurses.

Renowned specialist Dr. Ronald Bush, MD, FACS, is making the lectures available through his website bushvenouslectures. com for $199 per course (plus a $30 processing/certificate fee). Lectures are accredited through the University of Toledo, are AMA approved and offer a certificate of attendance for nurses.

The Bush Venous Lectures will examine a broad range of topics on venous disease. These include detailed instruction in basic techniques, introduction to unusual clinical presentations, enhancing ability to effectively treat venous ulcers based on hemodynamic principles, increasing proficiency in use of ultrasound and ultrasound guided sclerotherapy, and integrating non-surgical and surgical techniques in treatment.

"These lectures are designed to increase knowledge, skills and enhance practice performance for practitioners to ensure optimal care for those patients with the disease," said Dr. Bush, who is founder and medical coordinator for Vein Affiliates, a national group of surgeons specializing in venous disease.

Dr. Bush has devoted the past 15 years of his practice solely to the treatment of the disease. Dr. Bush and his staff have performed more than 6,000 venous surgeries and thermal ablations in the office setting and many of the new procedures now performed in the ambulatory treatment of varicose veins have originated in part from his clinical studies.

Dr. Bush is Board certified in thoracic surgery and general vascular surgery and is a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons.

Interested physicians and nurses can register online and view a sample video.

For more information visit the website at www. bushvenouslectures. com or contact Peggy Bush, Advance Practice Nurse (APN) at pbush(at)bushvenouslectures(dot)com.

Moms Need More than One Day a Year to Live Healthier Lives

Moms Need More than One Day a Year to Live Healthier Lives

Fit Beyond 40 founder stresses need to promote regular self-care.

Newburyport, MA (PRWEB) May 9, 2006

“Mothers need encouragement from family members and a change in societal values in order to feel they have permission to take time for their own wellness on a regular basis, not just on Mother’s Day,” notes Alice Greene, president and CEO of Fit Beyond 40 (www. fitbeyond40.com), a lifestyle fitness coaching company. While most moms think about incorporating steps to live a healthier lifestyle and practice regular self care, many find it hard to implement out of feelings of guilt. Today’s mothers are conditioned to put themselves last and to neglect their needs, which is contributing to chronic stress, poor eating habits, weight gain, and a loss of self-esteem.

The high cost from lack of self care is evident in the escalating weight gain during the past decade in the United States. A staggering 65.9 percent of all women in the age bracket of 45-65 years old are either overweight or obese, according to The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) from the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS). Being overweight or obese increases the risk for numerous ailments, including high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, stroke, arthritis, cancer, and poor reproductive health.1

When mothers focus on their own care and make time for a healthier lifestyle, they become more energized, productive, confident, composed and genial.

Forty-something year-old Hilary Hawkins, a mother of two from Newburyport, MA and a client of Greene’s knows this to be true. “This program has helped me to take better care of myself, and it has shown me that how I treat myself affects the way I eat and deal with my kids. I was ignoring my needs for the sake of the family. Now I see that wasn’t helping me or them, and with the help of Alice’s program I have increased my self-esteem, learned how to address my emotional eating and developed better habits of self-care which makes me feel good.”

Greene invites women on Mother’s Day to take inventory of their self care and healthier lifestyle needs, and to act upon them.

The following four recommendations are excerpted from the free report, “The 9 Secrets to Feeling Great in Your Own Body”, which is part of the Help Yourself Today self-paced guided lifestyle help program (www. helpyourselftoday. com) produced by Greene. They include:

Listen to your body and honor it.  Determine whose beliefs are running you.  Rewrite the rules about being a perfectionist.  Discover what really makes you feel good.

“Continual lack of self-care takes a toll on families, employers, and the health care system,” says Greene. “Mother’s Day reminds us all that moms need encouragement and support year-round to be their personal best without sacrificing time with their loved ones.”

About Help Yourself Today

Help Yourself Today is an inspirational guided lifestyle help series that gives women monthly motivation, assistance and support to take action and incorporate healthy lifestyle changes at their own pace. Monthly topics target stress, hormonal imbalances, weight loss, balanced eating, emotional eating, diabetes, heart disease, fitness and wellness. The program combines an inspiring e-guidebook with live teleconference calls for additional instruction and support. Optional one-on-one or group coaching can be made available. Million-Dollar Fines for Billion-Dollar Company, Boston Scientific Corporation, as They Receive Additional FDA Warnings

Million-Dollar Fines for Billion-Dollar Company, Boston Scientific Corporation, as They Receive Additional FDA Warnings

Campaign launched to alert healthcare consumers of the two recalls of drug-infusion ports manufactured by Boston Scientific Corp. and the potential class action lawsuit to recover damages.

Wilmington, NC (PRWEB) June 30, 2005

After formal warning from the FDA, and a major product recall by Boston Scientific Corporation, Greg Jones & Associates, a North Carolina-based law firm, in association with www. lawyersandsettlements. com, launches a campaign to gather plaintiffs for a potential class action lawsuit.

Boston Scientific Corp. has voluntarily recalled over 2,000 of their drug-infusion devices due to reports of drug leakage and device breakage. These medical devices are surgically implanted under the skin and deliver drugs, such as chemotherapy, through a catheter that is attached to a vein.

After careful investigation, both the FDA and Boston Scientific Corp. recognize major problems with manufacturing and quality control regulations. Boston Scientific is preparing for multi-million dollar fines as it recommends that patients visit their doctor to have these implants surgically removed. Last year, Boston Scientific announced three product recalls for similar manufacturing problems with their popular cardiac stents.

Boston Scientific Corporation, based in Natick, Massachusetts, is a worldwide medical device giant with 16,000 employees and $5.6 billion in annual revenues. This medical product developer and manufacturer also creates devices such as balloon catheters, stents, sheaths, implantable ports, and medical imaging tools.

Greg Jones & Associates is urging patients that have experienced problems or device malfunctions with Boston ScientificÂ’s valved and nonvalved ports, such as the Vaxcel Low Profile Infusion Port, to file a formal complaint at www. lawyersandsettlements. com; each case will be evaluated by a lawyer at no charge.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Healthwise Introduces New Online Spanish Health Guide

Guía de salud práctica de Healthwise® to help Spanish-speaking consumers make better health decisions, improve communication with health care providers

BOISE, Idaho, February 10, 2003—Studies show that consumers who have limited English skills face major communication barriers when they need basic medical care. Healthwise, Incorporated, today introduced its latest advancement in online medical information to help organizations meet the needs of their Spanish-speaking constituents.

Guía de salud práctica de Healthwise provides Spanish speakers with online information on more than 220 common health problems and medications to help them make better health decisions. Hospitals, health plans, and employers can use Guía de salud práctica de Healthwise as a convenient resource to help improve communication between English and Spanish speakers.

“Guía de salud práctica de Healthwise is simply the next step in Healthwise’s evolution,” said

Donald W. Kemper, Healthwise founder and CEO. “All people—regardless of the language they speak—need access to evidence-based medical information to help them make the best health decisions possible. That’s been our focus and our mission for 27 years.”

Spanish speakers can use Guía de salud práctica de Healthwise to develop effective self-care skills. Topics include information on prevention, home treatment, and when to call a health professional. Guía de salud práctica de Healthwise helps people get basic health information on issues like:

· Â¿Infecciones por bacterias or por virus?/WhatÂ’s the difference between viral and bacterial infections?

· Â¿Se necesitan puntos?/Are stitches necessary?

· Cómo reducir el nivel de colesterol/How to reduce your cholesterol.

“Healthwise recognizes that cultural differences can affect how people understand information. We worked closely with expert translators, including native speakers, to ensure the information is conveyed in a culturally appropriate way,” Kemper said.

Guía de salud práctica de Healthwise can serve as a convenient online communication tool for doctors working with Spanish-speaking patients. A bilingual search feature enables users to find the right topic in either English or Spanish. Topic titles appear in both languages. Doctors can also print out the online education materials; this is especially helpful when needing to reinforce and elaborate on information explained verbally to Spanish-speaking patients and their interpreters.

Organizations can choose to incorporate a drug reference provided by Multum Information Services, Inc., to make their Web site a one-stop destination for Spanish health information seekers. The drug reference

Provides information on more than 3,000 over-the-counter and prescription medications and helps people know:

· How to take medications properly.

· Who should not take certain drugs.

· Medication interactions.

· Possible side effects.

Guía de salud práctica de Healthwise can be delivered in two formats: XML (available in April 2003) and Healthwise-hosted (available in July 2003). The XML delivery option provides organizations with complete control on how the content is integrated on their Web sites. The hosted delivery option allows organizations to deliver the Spanish health content with a minimum of implementation or maintenance resources while promoting their own organizational brand.

Guía de salud práctica de Healthwise is a complementary companion to the Healthwise Knowledgebase—the nationally acclaimed, online English-language resource covering more than 5,000 evidence-based medical topics. The Healthwise Handbook (available in English or Spanish) can also serve as a convenient print companion to both sources of online content. Healthwise information is used by hundreds of hospitals and nine of the top ten managed care organizations in the United States.

About Healthwise

Healthwise, Incorporated, is a nonprofit organization that helps people make better health decisions. More than 30 million health care decisions are made each year with Healthwise® handbooks, online content, and nurse call center resources. Healthwise information is the foundation of self-care programs in the United States, South Africa, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Weight Loss Surgery Specialist’s Fast Track Program Accelerates Weight Loss

Weight Loss Surgery Specialist’s Fast Track Program Accelerates Weight Loss

Houston weight loss surgery specialist Dr. Richard Collier now offers the Fast Track Program for patients who do not want to wait through the lengthy insurance approval process to attain a healthier weight. Not only do his Fast Track patients bypass the hassles of coverage approval altogether so that they may undergo weight loss surgery immediately, many qualify to deduct a portion of the surgery costs from their taxes due to IRS provision 502.

Houston, TX (PRWEB) December 1, 2010

Houston weight loss surgery specialist Dr. Richard Collier now offers the Fast Track Program for patients who do not want to wait through the lengthy insurance approval process to attain a healthier weight. Not only do his Fast Track patients bypass the hassles of coverage approval altogether so that they may undergo weight loss surgery immediately, many qualify to deduct a portion of the surgery costs from their taxes due to IRS provision 502.

Dr. Collier has seen a rise in interest for a program such as this because insurance coverage for the two procedures that he specializes in, Lap Band surgery and sleeve gastrectomy, have become increasingly difficult for his patients to obtain.

Today, for those who are morbidly obese or have co-morbid conditions that pose serious threats to their health, meeting insurance requirements for bariatric surgery entails proving a history of obesity for the past 3-5 years, 3-6 consecutive months of weight loss consultation with a primary care physician, 3-month consultation with a dietician, and evaluation by a mental health professional.

Dr. Collier created the Fast Track Program because he needed to provide an option for those who were declined coverage or did not want to go through the coverage approval process. With his new Fast Track Program, Dr. Collier’s cash-paying patients can undergo weight loss surgery when they feel ready and receive a private educational seminar.

During the private Fast Track seminar, weight loss surgery patients receive an extensive look at either the Lap-Band surgery or sleeve gastrectomy. They learn about the procedures themselves as well as safe and healthful preparation prior to surgery, and comprehensive aftercare.

These private seminars are especially comforting for those patients who feel too ashamed about their weight or their need for surgery to attend his standard group seminars. Patients who find it hard to discuss weight loss surgery with their family and friends, no matter how imperative it may be for them, can rely on the advocacy of Dr. Collier’s extensive aftercare program, which provides long-term patient support.

All of Dr. Collier’s patients, whether or not they’re part of the Fast Track Program, receive thorough education on the procedures and expansive after care.

Ceridian's Comprehensive Customer Listening Efforts Produce Dramatic Results

Ceridian's Comprehensive Customer Listening Efforts Produce Dramatic Results

Customer advisory boards, enhanced net promoter scores, executive listening efforts and customer service support improvements are all having a measurable impact on Ceridian's business and customers

Minneapolis (PRWEB) June 17, 2010

Ceridian (http://www. ceridian. com/296pr7a) Corporation, a leading provider of managed human resource (http://www. ceridian. com/296pr7b), employee benefits administration (http://www. ceridian. com/296pr7c), tax filing (http://www. ceridian. com/296pr7d), and payroll outsourcing (http://www. ceridian. com/296pr7e) solutions, continues to realize measurable benefits from its multi-faceted customer listening efforts. One of the industry's leading human resource management businesses is employing leading edge tools and techniques to both listen to and improve from its customers' experiences.

"We have been extremely pleased with the progress of our customer listening efforts," commented Michael Shea, Ceridian executive vice president and chief operating officer. "Over the last three years Ceridian has pursued a comprehensive approach to listening to and measuring our customers' experiences. Taken as a whole, these efforts have had a profound, dramatic effect on Ceridian's business." Shea believes those efforts are in part responsible for Ceridian's customer retention numbers, which are over 90 percent (the industry average is 74 percent).

Customer Advisory Boards
Over the last three years Ceridian has established customer advisory boards (CABs) for each of its businesses. The CABs are comprised of Ceridian customers and are designed to provide Ceridian with key feedback on all aspects of Ceridian services and support.

For instance, over the past eighteen months Ceridian used its payroll business CAB's feedback to in part guide several key business improvement projects. Ceridian is now in the final stages of producing an entirely new, integrated payroll platform. The company has already delivered on a new enterprise reporting tool that has been favorably received by Ceridian's customers. Customer service improvements, the creation of a new Consultative Engagement Services group, and similar payroll business efforts have all in part been undertaken because of the clear voice of Ceridian's customers heard through its CAB.

Enhanced Net Promoter Scores
Over the last three years Ceridian has been measuring customer satisfaction using net promoter scores (NPS). NPS surveys existing customers about particular aspects of Ceridian's business and asks them to use a 10 point scale to rate their willingness to recommend Ceridian to their business colleagues. Unfortunately, NPS scores alone don't always provide quantitative information about where a company should focus its improvement efforts. Recognizing the NPS limitation, Ceridian created an NPS innovation by augmenting its scores to include cataloged, weighted customer comments received as part of its NPS process. The enhanced NPS scores have provided all of Ceridian's businesses with more targeted, specific directions about how to improve their customers' experiences.

For instance, from 2008 to 2009, Ceridian Health and Productivity Solutions registered improvements in five of the seven customer support categories it measured (two of the categories were already outstanding). Ceridian Benefits Services also used the enhanced NPS process to measure the effectiveness of customer support for its COBRA business, using the information to make several improvements to its customer service programs. Over the last 12 months Ceridian saw improvements in every area it measured.

Executive Customer Listening Efforts
Over the last three years Ceridian executives have periodically engaged in customer listening visits. These high level meetings are designed to follow-up on NPS scores, interview customers about any issues or concerns they might have about Ceridian products or services, and generally listen to what customers have to say about Ceridian. The feedback obtained from these interviews is analyzed and in part used to identify appropriate action plans which in some cases are integrated into overall improvement initiatives.

A good illustration of how one executive customer listening effort contributed to key payroll processing improvements for a major Ceridian client is Mike Shea's visit with Bass Pro Group. In April 2008 Mike met with Julie Boos, director of Bass Pro's Compensation, Benefits and HRIS to learn more about the Bass Pro Group's payroll challenges. During that meeting Mike reiterated Ceridian's commitment to providing Bass Pro Group with whatever resources the company needed to address some of its key issues. That executive customer listening effort continued to pave the way for profound changes in the way the customer processed its payroll, resulting in some key improvements for that particular customer (Bass Pro Shops reduce payroll processing by 80 percent, save time and money (http://www. ceridian. com/296pr7f)).

Ceridian's Customer Care Organization (CCO) customer support improvements
In 2010 Ceridian's CCO received a Stevie award for Customer Service Department of the Year (Ceridian Wins Stevie Award for Customer Service Department of the Year (http://www. ceridian. com/296pr7g)). CCO won the award because it continues to serve as an example of Ceridian's focus on the customer. More specifically, over the past year CCO's remarkable success has been based on several key factors: customer listening efforts, translating customer feedback into service improvements, measuring the ongoing effectiveness of its efforts, and communicating those improvements to its 350 customer care analysts.

Judging from CCO's own measurements and customer responses these new efforts have had measurable, positive effects. Over the last year …
Call response time was reduced by 43 percent Customer satisfaction increased by 14 percent NPS scores improved by 20 points About Ceridian

Veratron Delivers Security Application for Wireless Devices and PDAs

Veratron Delivers Security Application for Wireless Devices and PDAs

Veratron Corporation today announced the availability of the Trafasi security application, version 1.0, a strong software encryption program for wireless devices and Palm-based PDAs (personal digital assistant) with integrated eWallet and data storage capabilities.

(PRWEB) August 7, 2002

Seattle Washington, August 4, 2002 — Veratron Corporation today announced the availability of the Trafasi security application, version 1.0, a strong software encryption program for wireless devices and Palm-based PDAs (personal digital assistant) with integrated eWallet and data storage capabilities.

Trafasi 1.0 provides Palm OS based wireless device and PDA users with necessary security tools that allow them to restrict access to their device should it be lost or stolen. Trafasi 1.0 builds on the momentum established by the rapid adoption of PDAs and intelligent wireless phones (smart phones) and solves the growing concern of privacy. As cellular networks increase the availability of data services, security and privacy become a larger concern. The portability of wireless devices makes them susceptible to theft and loss. VeratronÂ’s security application gives mobile device users the confidence to use their devices to their fullest capabilities knowing that confidential information is protected with strong 256bit encryption.

Veratron enabled PDAÂ’s are protected by strong 256 bit encryption, and can be unlocked by using a password known only by the user. All Veratron Enabled devices can also be registered in the Trafasi Device Retrieval System (TDR) that allows for anonymous return of devices through Veratron. Trafasi will retrieve the device and return it to the registered owner. This unique service ensures privacy and anonymity for both parties involved therefore increasing the probability of a deviceÂ’s return. When lost or stolen, a device is locked and the Trafasi return contact details are presented on the screen instructing them to contact Veratron for return instructions.

Trafasi 1.0 offers the most elegant and logical eWallet available for PDAs. Personal devices such as PDAÂ’s and smart-phones are intelligent devices that are always present. Increasingly, these devices are connected to the internet and offer endless opportunities for anytime/anywhere internet and data interaction. Having all personal information immediately available is important. The eWallet features of Trafasi allow users to safely store all personal information such as credit card, medical data, loyalty programs, financial information, various passwords and other pertinent data. As with the device itself, all eWallet information is protected against unauthorized access with strong 256 bit encryption.

According to Andy Castonguay, analyst with the Yankee Group " The wireless phone, traditionally used for voice communication, is quickly morphing into a sophisticated voice/data device., 80% of the wireless phones sold next year (Year 2003) will offer always-on Internet. Many traditional internet transaction models will migrate to the wireless phone – representing a much larger population base. The ability to store sensitive personal information securely is critical to the success of the wireless internet, the Trafasi application is one of those necessary features that all wireless devices will require.”

Trafasi 1.0 for Palm Operating System based devices is available immediately, worldwide, at www. trafasi. com or at leading resellers of mobile software solutions; Handango. com, Palmgear. com, Palmblvd. com. Trafasi 1.0 is priced at $19.95 per single license.
