NEW Online Documentary Exposes State Race to Legally Stop Abusive Bosses (nojobisworththis. com)

NEW Online Documentary Exposes State Race to Legally Stop Abusive Bosses (nojobisworththis. com)

This year New York and Connecticut joined nearly 25% of the nation's State Capitols in the growing struggle to protect American employees from severe psychological harassment. Why wouldn't they? That question forms the heartfelt arc of a new interactive media campaign by award-winning documentary filmmaker Beverly Peterson, THERE OUGHTA BE A LAW: nojobisworththis. com. "When this becomes something that is more widely understood and comes out of the shadows and is talked about, I believe that we'll see passage of this law." -- NY Assemblyman Steven Englebright, Sponsor A5414, a bill to stop abusive work environments. New York (PRWEB) May 4, 2009

This year New York and Connecticut joined nearly 25% of the nation's state capitols in the growing struggle to protect American employees from severe psychological harassment. Why wouldn't they? That question forms the heartfelt arc of a new cutting edge interactive media campaign by award-winning documentary filmmaker Beverly Peterson, THERE OUGHTA BE A LAW: nojobisworththis. com (http://nojobisworththis. com (http://nojobisworththis. com)).

"I stumbled onto the vicious little secret of the American workplace the hard way," says Peterson. "In little more than two years, my boss bullied her way through 6 or more employees in the same position before me. The better I was at my job, the better she got at being a bully and the more outrageous her behavior became." When Peterson learned about her own state's struggle to pass a law to prevent victims like herself from experiencing severe emotional trauma -- she picked up her camera and traveled to Albany to capture the hopeful journey of victims, legislators and activists as they fought back against toxic bosses.

All too often the victim is blamed for not being 'tough enough' for today's highly competitive and shrinking job market. The New York Times recently reported that the emotional toll of an abusive boss is more severe than sexual harassment. 54 million Americans have already been victimized. 77% found the only option was to quit (zogby). "When this becomes something that is more widely understood and comes out of the shadows and is talked about, I believe that we'll see passage of this law." -- NY Assemblyman Steven Englebright, Sponsor A5414, a bill to stop abusive work environment

"When I first started making this documentary," Peterson explains, "experts, politicians and advocates kept warning me how hard it would be to make audiences understand that it's not about bad bosses, long hours or even lousy managers who curse or scream to make a point. This is about those rogue bosses who have slithered their way up through the cracks in the corporate ladder. The ones determined to target one employee after another and emotionally destroy them. In the schoolyard we learned to stand up to a bully. But in the workplace, the bully isn't looking for the weakest. They're looking for the strongest and the same approach might cost you your job, benefits, savings, and your health."

NY Assemblyman Mark Schroeder has reintroduced a study bill on this issue. "Everybody knows the difference between right and wrong," explains Schroeder. "Everybody knows how to be respectful. If people cannot go to work because they're sick to their stomach everyday and because they're being taken advantage of or they're being yelled at, these things are wrong and simply we're asking the Department of Labor, in a comprehensive way, to help us."

The world premiere of EPISODE 1: TRACEY & KALI'S LAW features the heartbreaking story of New York resident Tracey and her teenage daughter Kali. Like so many women who are victims of this type of abuse, Tracey was a single mother barely two years shy of retirement when her life turned upside down. During Tracey's long career as an office manager she adjusted to several changes in supervisors. But, when her last boss took the helm, Tracey says the "new management style" included isolation and psychological intimidation. Both her doctor and therapist advised her to save her health and quit her job. Suffering from severe depression and unable to find work, Tracey lost her home, benefits and savings. Even after several moves from state to state, Tracey is still hoping for a permanent job.

While Tracey is away from home her daughter, Kali, travels to Albany to join the grass roots struggle of the New York Healthy Workplace Advocates to enact anti-harassment legislation in New York. Viewers watch Kali meet State Senator Ruth Hassell-Thompson who links Tracey's struggle to Domestic Violence. "Violence is not just physical," says Hassell-Thompson. "It's emotional when it causes that level of trauma."

EPISODE 2: MARLENE'S LAW highlights Connecticut's struggle. Katherine Hermes is on a mission. Her best friend committed suicide after reportedly suffering psychological intimidation on the job. Hermes asks State Senator Edith Prague to propose legislation to stop bullying in the workplace. The response? "Let's do this!" What begins for viewers in a Connecticut Senate Office soon takes on national importance. Scenes include an evening of jazz, wine & truffles, as powerful state business lobbyists, Connecticut Business & Industry Association and the MetroHartford Alliance, voice opposition while reaching out to legislators. The head of the Metro Hartford Alliance readily reveals he is equally skeptical of Sexual Harassment laws currently in place. Fliers on nearby tables advise corporate members to tell their legislators to vote against pending Workers Comp and retirement bills. "They're running around saying to legislators, you can't possibly pass that bullying bill it's going to scare businesses out of the state," says Connecticut State Senator Prague, "I would be proud if we were the first state to do that."

The arguments by Senators Hassell-Thompson and Prague remind us that the need to define unacceptable levels of bullying behavior by a boss is no different than the historic ability to legally define domestic violence, sexual harassment and racial discrimination were so many years ago.

(States considering this bill in 2009 are: New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Illinois, Vermont, Oklahoma, Utah, Oregon, Nevada, Montana, Washington)

Beverly Peterson, the filmmaker:
Peterson's documentaries have been broadcast internationally, and screened at major festivals including; HBO, PBS The Sundance Channel, The Sundance Film Festival, Human Rights Watch, Museum of Modern Art, Brooklyn Museum of Art, The Walker Art Center, The Warhol Museum, The Kitchen. Her documentary 71 West Broadway: Ground Zero, New York, NY was selected as part of the memorial presentation at the Library of Congress, which has included it in the national 9/11 film archive. Portions of Invisible Revolution, were featured on ABC's 20/20, Dateline, and HBO specials on domestic terrorism.

New Premium Natural Canned Cat Food Available from HealthyPetNet

New Premium Natural Canned Cat Food Available from HealthyPetNet

Dr. Jane Bicks formulated Instinctive Choice to feed with Life's Abundance Premium Dry Cat Food and other brands of dry food so that cats can get the health benefits of both canned and dry food. Instinctive Choice premium canned cat food is nutrient dense, so cat owners can feed less of Instinctive Choice than many other brands of canned cat food

Douglas, AZ (PRWEB) May 20, 2006

Did you ever see a cat hunt for carrots or cranberries? We doubt it. That’s because our sweet house cats are more like little lions … true carnivores that must have a diet consisting of almost all meat to satisfy specific and unique nutritional requirements. Instinctive Choice is a brand new premium canned food that is scientifically formulated to provide cats with a meal that is similar in nutrition and moisture to how felines would feed in the wild. Modern science has proven that "nature knows best" when it comes to what cats needs to thrive.

Dr. Jane Bicks formulated Instinctive Choice to feed with Life's Abundance Premium Dry Cat Food and other brands of dry food so that cats can get the health benefits of both canned and dry food. Instinctive Choice premium canned cat food is nutrient dense, so cat owners can feed less of Instinctive Choice than many other brands of canned cat food.

Why should cat owners choose Instinctive Choice? It’s not only what’s in Instinctive Choice that makes it the ultimate canned cat food, it’s what’s not.

What is NOT in Instinctive Choice

Instinctive Choice does not contain fruits (such as cranberries), vegetables (such as carrots) or grains (such as corn). Cats are metabolically adapted to use protein and fat as energy sources and they have little need for carbohydrates. The question is "why do most manufacturers use carbohydrates; such as, fruits, vegetables and grains in their canned cat food?" We understand the use of carbohydrates in dry foods because they are necessary to form the kibble or nuggets. However, we do not understand the use of carbohydrates in canned foods. Other companies may use them because they are generally less expensive than meat and they sound better to consumers. At HealthyPetNet, we think it is more important to focus on what a feline really needs for good health rather than on cost or the desire to feed our felines "human-like" ingredients. Instinctive Choice does NOT contain gluten or fillers, nor does it contain by-products, any type of chemical preservatives or artificial flavors, flavor enhancers or food colorings.

What is IN Instinctive Choice

Instinctive Choice contains fresh, highly digestible, human-quality proteins from organic chicken, turkey and shrimp. It also contains chicken liver, a warehouse of good nutrition.

Instinctive Choice contains nutrient-rich water. Dr. Jane calls it “biological water." This is important because modern house cats are descendents of dessert animals that obtained moisture from their prey and so they do not like to drink water from a bowl. The "biological water" in Instinctive Choice contains nutritional components found in the meats and chicken broth, which allows your cat to obtain moisture closer to the way a cat in the wild would get it.

Instinctive Choice contains a special ingredient called Agropyron Repens grass, commonly found and also known as couch grass. This grass contains many nutrients, which help support a healthy urinary tract.

Instinctive Choice contains many other nutrients important to feline health.

Salt Lake City, Utah (PRWEB) November 2, 2009

Comprehensive on-site ICD-10 implementation training will be available for organizations and companies nationwide beginning January 2010, the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC, www. aapc. com) announces today. The curriculum, developed by a team of experts led by renowned ICD-10 authority Deborah Grider, is customizable for many sizes and types of organizations, including health plans and providers.

The three-day, on-site, customized ICD-10 implementation training is designed to lead organizations through the implementation process step-by-step, ensuring the organization is fully prepared for the switch. The course outline includes organizing the implementation efforts, developing cross-functional teams, budgeting, outcomes measurement, crosswalking and mapping, and compliance along with hands-on exercises using the ICD-10 code set.

"It is imperative that all health care organizations train their staffs, including physicians and coders, on the new ICD-10 system," Grider said. "Comprehensive training ensures your stability and revenue during the transition while maintaining your staff's productivity."

The AAPC's ICD-10 experts will conduct the on-site trainings at requested locations across the country. Templates and tools will be provided on CD for the organization along with an implementation manual. More information about the AAPC's on-site training is available online at www. aapc. com/ICD-10training (http://www. aapc. com/ICD-10training).

The change to the new system, as mandated by the Department of Health and Human Services in January 2009, will be the most challenging transition since the inception of coding. To aid the health care industry through this transition, the AAPC has dedicated a team of its coding experts to develop and lead trainings for health plans, providers and facilities. Art4Love Salutes Viktor Schreckengost, "America's Da Vinci", On His Centennial Birthday Celebration

Art4Love Salutes Viktor Schreckengost, "America's Da Vinci", On His Centennial Birthday Celebration

Art4Love Inc. (ALVN. PK) announces that Viktor Scheckengost has joined its international community of artists.

New York, NY, (PRWEB) June 28, 2006

Art4Love Inc. (ALVN. PK) announces that Viktor Scheckengost has joined its international community of artists. Art4Love will be marketing his body of work and participating in the nationwide series of exhibitions and museum shows commemorating the 100th Birthday of one of America’s most influential artists and industrial designers. Viktor Schreckengost has touched nearly every decade of the 20th century with his creative genius, from the landmark icon of the Art deco era “The Jazz Bowl”, to the invention of the cab-over-engine truck design during the 1930’s to his landmark contributions to radar object-recognition that lead to the Allied victory of World War II, to name just a few of many.

It is estimated that every adult in the United States has handled, used, driven, worn, played with, ridden in, collected or otherwise enjoyed objects designed by Viktor Schreckengost or one of his students. While the tally is far from complete, Viktor’s impact on the American economy is estimated to exceed $200 billion. In addition, Viktor Schreckengost has created a significant body of work as a sculptor, ceramist and painter. His fine art pieces number over 1500, cover diverse subjects in several media, and appear in major museums and private collections all over America. Some of his works, like the Jazz Bowl, are considered seminal creations that capture the life and history of our nation.

As close as America has come to claiming her own Leonardo Da Vinci, Viktor spent his career largely unknown among the general public and insiders in the art community. He focused his energies on his work and not self-promotion.

Of the scope of the Foundation's interest, Executive Director Chip Nowacek says, "This Foundation will not properly represent Viktor if we only focus on the history. His legacy also lives in his philosophy and worldview; it deals with the future. Viktor was always looking forward. This Foundation is also about living that legacy, and appropriate activities will develop as his funding becomes available."

"I can hardly express the enormous pride we feel in being associated with such a giant of the arts as Viktor Schreckengost," said Chad Love Lieberman, Founder and CEO of Art4Love. “We are honored to be able to participate in his centennial celebration, congratulate him on his enormous contributions to American culture in the last century and convey our warmest and very best wishes for many more happy, healthy and creative years ahead,” added Mr. Lieberman.

Civil RICO Action Filed In $1.2B Interstate Real Estate and Currency Fraud Case: Many CA & AZ Military Personnel Alleged to be Victims

Civil RICO Action Filed In $1.2B Interstate Real Estate and Currency Fraud Case: Many CA & AZ Military Personnel Alleged to be Victims

Late last week a civil RICO action was filed in the California Central District of the United States District Court. The suit is connected to another state court action filed earlier this year in Riverside, California. While both suits focus on what is alleged to be a $1.2B fraud on real estate and Iraqi dinar "investors," the RICO case highlights the alleged intensive use of federally regulated communications systems to perpetrate the alleged fraud throughout many states. It is alleged that the perpetrators of the fraud caused $1.2B in bad real estate loans, stole the identities of loan applicants to take out credit lines without victim permission, and that they failed to provided hundreds of millions of Iraqi dinars as promised to investors.

Riverside, CA (PRWEB) February 12, 2007

The law firm of Ackerman, Cowles & Lindsley filed a civil Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) case against what are alleged to be the perpetrators of a vast real estate and currency exchange scheme taking place in California, Arizona, Texas, Washington, Oregon, Arkansas and on federal military lands.

United States District Court Case No. ED CV 07-00167 (Anna Richter, Deborah Weber v. James B. Duncan, et. al.) was filed by two investors who claim to have suffered over $500,000.00 in damages on their cases alone. U. S. District Judge Virginia A. Philips has been assigned the case. The suit alleges that the defendants may have scammed more that 700 victims in several states and on military installations, including an air base in Tucson, Arizona. The total damages are alleged to exceed $1.2B in this suit and a related suit filed in state court last month (California Superior Court Case No. RIC463483).

The complaint, filed on February 8, 2007, alleges that four operators of Stonewood Consulting, Inc., Pacific Wealth Management LLC (Nevada), and Sunburst Financial Systems, Inc., engaged in an investment scheme involving perhaps thousands of wire and mail transactions in Arizona, California and Texas. The named individuals are James B. Duncan, Hendrix Montecastro, Maurice Mcleod and Charlie Choi, all residents of Southern California.

The alleged mastermind of the scam is one James B. Duncan, who was previously ordered by the states of Washington and Iowa to cease and desist in investment activities. According to the State of Washington, in Department of Financial Institutions Case No. S-02-259, Duncan was previously fired from Olde Discount brokers for misappropriation of corporate funds and unauthorized investment activities, The Department found that Duncan defrauded a female victim and was ordered to pay restitution. In Iowa, Duncan was alleged to have taken financial advantage of an elderly victim in Iowa Division of Insurance Case No. C02-07-017.

In California, Duncan's alleged company, Pacific Wealth Management (NV), and individual Maurice Mcleod were ordered to cease and desist in the improper use of investor advisor numbers belonging to a legitimate brokerage in California Superior Court Case No. RIC462505. California Superior Court Judge Dallas Holmes issued a related temporary restraining order in Case No. RIC463483 against Hendrix Montecastro, and Maurice McLeod.

In the present case, the defendants are alleged to have induced members of the general public, hundreds of military personnel, church-goers, and health care professionals to get involved in a real estate business whereby "investors" could each become the owners of multiple residential properties throughout Arizona and California. In fact, fraudulent loan applications and income information were submitted on behalf of investors without their knowledge according to the suits. Now hundreds of alleged victims face multiple foreclosures and renters are losing their homes.

In what the defendants called a "short-term" investment, military personnel and others were allegedly duped into investing in the Iraqi dinar. However, the suit alleges that, while millions were taken from investors, the foreign currency was never delivered or only a minute fraction would be delivered to "investors." None of the defendants appear to be licensed to offer securities or currency exchange services anywhere in the United States.

The suit alleges that the activities of the defendants are having a damaging impact on the Iraqi dinar, the United States real estate market, and on the credit worthiness of the hundreds of victims, many of whom can no longer pay for so much as basic necessities. Some of the victims are alleged to have lost nearly everything they own. Military victims face even more serious consequences for excessive indebtedness. Members can suffer a breaking of rank and other devastating administrative action by superior command.

In the coming weeks, plaintiffs will ask the United States District Court to completely shut down the activities of the defendants and to place their enterprises into receivership.

PMS Experts Reach Out To Help Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears and Paris Hilton

PMS Experts Reach Out To Help Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears and Paris Hilton

PMS Central offers PMS life coaching sessions to top celebrities after the Princess and the PMS: The Owners Manual hits the bestseller list.

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) December 5, 2007

Over 50 million women battle PMS every month. Now, the co-authors of the bestselling book The Princess and the PMS and the medical experts at PMScentral. com (http://www. pmscentral. com) are reaching out to female celebrities famous for their tabloid-worthy bad behavior. With trips to rehab, DUIs and questionable judgment becoming more frequent among young stars, the PMS team has contacted the publicists of Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Britney Spears and others to offer PMS counseling.

"Of course, not all behavior problems can be chalked up to PMS, but hormonal changes do influence emotional and physical reactions. It's possible that female celebrities who are 'acting out' may be suffering from untreated PMS," says Elizabeth Goodman, co-author of The Princess and the PMS (http://www. pmscentral. com/owners_manual). "PMS can exacerbate underlying emotional issues and certainly affects how women react to alcohol and other substances. There is help for these young women, for all women."

The Princess and the PMS addresses the symptoms of PMS, with particular emphasis on the emotional toll the syndrome takes. With symptoms as varied as binge eating, irritability, physical pain and emotional outbursts, PMS worsens under stress. For young celebrities, the stress of public scrutiny could be magnifying the same struggles faced by millions of ordinary women with PMS.

"With specific lifestyle changes plus counseling and supplements, even difficult cases of PMS can be managed," says Dr. Hyla Cass. "However, if women aren't proactive, their PMS won't magically disappear. There's no cure, but books like The Princess and the PMS offer take-charge strategies to overcome the symptoms for most women."

Written by a bestselling team of comedy writers and medical, nutritional and alternative medicine specialists (including president of the Physician's Committee for Responsible Medicine and author of Food for Life Neal Barnard, M. D. and Integrative Medicine specialist, psychiatrist and author Hyla Cass, M. D.), The Princess and the PMS offers a lighthearted but medically sound approach to beating PMS. The "just-between-us-girlfriends" humor is coupled with invaluable medical advice on symptom-reducing diet, exercise, supplements, healthy coping mechanisms, stress reduction, alternative healing strategies, relationship guidance, and much more. The men's side of the book, The Prince and the PMS, appeals to shorter attention spans and features cartoons, survival strategies and bottom-line "guydance" on how to love their premenstrual princesses back to health.

The Princess and the PMS / The Prince and the PMS, from Quantum Leaves Publishing, is available at all major book retailers. The book is also available from PMS Central (http://www. pmcentral. com), a Web portal for women featuring PMS-related information and coping tools, and from PMS Red Flag (http://www. pmsredflag. com), a site for men that includes a customizable email PMS Alert System.

Digital Subliminal Perception Programs Go Digital and Excite Brain Waves!

Digital Subliminal Perception Programs Go Digital and Excite Brain Waves!

ClydeSight Productions develops a set of subliminal perception computer programs that combine brain wave stimulation and unconscious motivation to give users a boost in self-improvement on traditional and unusual topics.

Malden, MA (PRWEB) March 28, 2006

ClydeSight Productions develops a set of subliminal perception computer programs that combine brain wave stimulation and unconscious motivation to give users a boost in self-improvement on traditional and unusual topics.

Subliminal perception programs motivate people and help them take important and healthy life changing steps. Science has verified effective methodologies, but many subliminal products miss out on some of them.

ClydeSight Productions has gleaned the research and developed a new set of computer programs. They combine the methodologies of subliminal perception and brain wave generation to give users a boost in self-improvement on traditional and unusual topics. They call them Brain Wave Stimulating Digital Perception Programs. Currently they are offering five: Healthy Weight, Smoke Free, Power Writing, Inspired Marketer and Happy Dreams.

When someone is generating alpha brain waves -- is in the alpha state -- they have a close connection with their unconscious minds. In theta state, inspiration and ideas are generated by the unconscious and echo to the conscious, stimulating action.

ClydeSight Productions programs stimulate brain waves and send subliminal messages through the visual cortex, instead of aurally -- the more common approach. In a preset 15 minute program session, the user's brain waves are stimulated while hundreds of subliminal messages are accepted by the unconscious. All are designed to overcome negative, defeating self-talk and perceptions -- the core of many problems. Positive and CAN DO messages replace them. The unconscious echoes them back to the conscious, causing a change in attitude, and consequently, behavior.

Healthy Weight and Stop Smoking are weight management and stop smoking programs that work alone or with other methods of dealing with these common traditional problems. Users can give themselves a multi-tier approach and achieve success and better health.

The Power Writing and Inspired Marketer programs are more unusual and designed in direct response to customer requests. Says programmer, Tim Thompson:

"Customers have said 'I can't write well. But I have to write well for my job and career advancement. Can you help?' The answer is obvious, if they think they can't write well, they won't write well. So we created a program that gives them confidence in their skills -- to use them, instead of negating them. Entrepreneurs and small businesses getting into marketing have a similar problem. They are afraid of the risks and confusion of marketing. They lose their confidence and wind up either in procrastination, or worse, using too few resources or using those resources badly. Our programs replace fear with confidence. They don't teach writing or marketing skills and methods -- there are plenty of sources for that. The goal of our programs is to release the power within -- help people get out of 'neutral' and into 'high gear'!"

The programs benefit many because of the trickle down effect. "Marketing, PR services, Pay Per Click and other systems that require good writing and marketing receive fewer unacceptable submissions and fewer complaints because users of our programs become effective writers and marketers. They use the tools these services provide to their maximum advantage. And obviously, people who live in their healthy weight and who don't smoke are more pleasant to be with, are often happier, confident and more attractive.", says Thompson.

ClydeSight Productions' Brain Wave Stimulation Digital Perception Programs are available only on-line, and this is in response to an inspired approach to selling computer software that helps save the environment -- an idea that was generated during a Happy Dreams program session.

Says Thompson "It's amazingly simple and obvious. Our programs were developed in the virtual world. Why not sell and deliver them there also? This eliminates packaging waste and pollution of our environment. The entire process is virtual-- you read about the programs on line, you buy them on line, you download them on line. The entire experience exists in cyber space! Its better for everyone."

ClydeSight Productions is so excited about this environmentally friendly approach that they are using it to market another program, the Dream Angel Oracle, which Thompson also helped develop.

ClydeSight Productions' Brain Wave Stimulating Digital Perception Programs are available at the ClydeSight Productions Web site: http://www. clydesight. com/DSPP (http://www. clydesight. com/DSPP).

Life Line Screening Proudly Supports NBC’s Skate for the Heart in Honor of Longtime Partner, Peggy Fleming

Life Line Screening Proudly Supports NBC’s Skate for the Heart in Honor of Longtime Partner, Peggy Fleming

Community-based health organization Life Line Screening participated in Skate for the Heart, giving free preventive screenings to select friends and family members of participating skaters.

Independence, OH (PRWEB) January 31, 2010

In honor of longtime partner Peggy Fleming, Life Line Screening is proud to have supported Skate for the Heart, which aired on NBC on January 31st.

Life Line Screening provided free screenings for several friends and family members of participating skaters to say “thank you” to Peggy for her ongoing support for cardiovascular disease awareness (http://www. lifelinescreening. com/health-screening-services/heart-disease. aspx).

Ms. Fleming filmed a commercial which aired during the special in which she talked about her personal story. Having lost her father and sister to cardiovascular disease at young ages, Ms Fleming hopes to raise awareness of screenings as a preventive strategy to save others the same heartache.

Life Line Screening provides preventive screenings (http://www. lifelinescreening. com/health-screening-services/default. aspx) in convenient community-based settings across the nation. Screening included ultrasound screenings for stroke prevention, including tests for carotid artery stenosis, atrial fibrillation, and systolic hypertension (high blood pressure). Other screenings check for peripheral arterial disease and abdominal aortic aneurysms.

According to the National Stroke Association, 80% of strokes are preventable. As Ms. Fleming says during the commercial, “If a screening could prevent a stroke, why wouldn’t you do it?”

About Life Line Screening
Life Line Screening was established in 1993, and has since become the nation’s leading provider of preventive health screenings. The screenings are provided in comfortable, familiar community settings such as churches and community centers and are conducted by highly qualified healthcare professionals. The non-invasive, inexpensive and painless tests help people identify their risk for stroke, vascular diseases or osteoporosis early enough for their physician to begin preventive procedures. Visit the web site at http://www. lifelinescreening. com (http://www. lifelinescreening. com).

Grassroots Advocates Urge President-Elect Obama To Fight Root Causes Of Corruption

Grassroots Advocates Urge President-Elect Obama To Fight Root Causes Of Corruption

"Oddly enough, a Democrat will occupy the White House and Democrats will control Congress at a time in America's history when the financial difficulties of wealthy people arguably impact social policy more than the underlying need to protect human rights," says Andrew D. Jackson, a Juris Doctor with a Masters in History and Deputy Director of POPULAR, Inc. The nonprofit corporation is an acronym for "Power Over Poverty Under Laws of America Restored" and joined by various anti-corruption advocates, will debut with a press conference and live webcast at the National Press Club in Washington, D. C. on Thursday - November 20, 2008. According to Juris Doctor Christina Pak, vice-president of POPULAR's board of directors, "America certainly faces many complex, troublesome issues competing for solutions; but some are merely symptoms of more fundamental problems." Newspaper founder and medical whistleblower, Dr. Lokesh B. Vuyyuru, expounds, "if average Americans cannot help their country distinguish symptoms from root causes of systemic, systematic misconduct, it cannot be very serious about fighting corruption."

Washington, DC (PRWEB) November 18, 2008

"Oddly enough, a Democrat will occupy the White House and Democrats will control Congress at a time in America's history when the financial difficulties of wealthy people arguably impact social policy more than the underlying need to protect human rights," says Andrew D. Jackson, a Juris Doctor with a Masters in History and Deputy Director of POPULAR, Inc. The nonprofit corporation is an acronym for "Power Over Poverty Under Laws of America Restored". Its Executive Director, Zena Logal, reports that the group will debut with a press conference and live webcast at the National Press Club in Washington, D. C. on Thursday - November 20, 2008 from 1:30 p. m. to 3:00 p. m. The webcast is to air from 2:00 to 3:00 p. m. at http://www. visualwebcaster. com/POPULAR2008 (http://www. visualwebcaster. com/POPULAR2008).

Joining POPULAR will be representatives of the ACORN 8 seeking to reform the embattled "Association of Communities for Reform Now"; co-chair Dr. James Murtagh and other members of the International Association of Whistleblowers addressing POPULAR's referendum on the Health Care Quality Improvement Act as well as announcing their 2009 conference; attorney Tom Devine of the Government Accountability Project with a briefing on federal whistleblower rights; principals of the Dillard-Winecoff development project, derailed by what may be America's most egregious mortgage fraud; and Chief Deputy U. S. Marshal Matthew Fogg (INA) urging what will soon be an Obama Justice Department to fervently prosecute criminal violations of civil and constitutional rights.

"The assault on rights Dr. Andrew Jackson references unfolds in three distinct, but overlapping ways," explains POPULAR's president, attorney Dale Nathan. According to attorney Nathan, "There are the denials of rights or entitlements by various people with power." He continues, "There is ostracism of and retaliation against industry insiders seeking to expose that wrongdoing, often to no avail." Finally Nathan adds, "There are institutional break-downs, if not total collapses from such unchecked corruption, the burden of which all Americans bear in one way or another."

Mortgage fraud advocate, attorney Michael R. McCray, considered the three-fold assault on human rights that POPULAR's board president describes, in light of America's financial crisis. "I see it beginning with predatory lending, mortgage fraud, and fraudulent foreclosures; escalating to suppression of mortgage and securities industry as well as law enforcement whistleblowers; and culminating with our country's mortgage industry collapse, precipitating our financial crisis which reverberates internationally," says McCray.

Katherine Moore, a citizen advocate and president of POPULAR's Advisory Board, interjects that "the travesty attorney McCray recounts and other brewing catastrophes reflect a fundamental failure to protect Americans from systemic, systematic corruption."

Mrs. Zena Logal is an attorney before the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, as well as POPULAR's executive director. She submits that the "failed protection our advisory board president proposes is apparent when, as a rule, average Americans cannot effectively petition their government for relief."

"Certainly America faces many complex, troublesome issues competing for solutions; but some are merely symptoms of more fundamental problems," explains Juris Doctor Christina Pak, vice-president of POPULAR's board of directors.

"If average Americans cannot help their country distinguish symptoms from root causes of systemic, systematic misconduct, it cannot be very serious about fighting corruption," says newspaper founder and medical whistleblower, Dr. Lokesh B. Vuyyuru.

"After all," retorts attorney Tom Devine of the Government Accountability Project, "who knows corruption better than its victims and whistleblowers, the public's eyes and ears who see and hear about it from inside private industries and government agencies?"

"While encouraged by campaign promises of President-Elect Obama, we are sobered by projections that the 111th Congress will resist robust judicial oversight despite recent confirmation by Transparency International that judicial corruption unduly impacts poor and other disenfranchised people," says Juris Doctor Glenn Vickers Bey, a POPULAR founder.

"At stake are the fundamental rights of Americans to due process, equal protection, fair trials, quality health care, a solvent federal government, and the corresponding sanctity of life, liberty, and property," says Juris Doctor Mark Adams, POPULAR's board treasurer.

"And because whistleblowers have been largely stonewalled by American government when trying to protect human rights, POPULAR hopes to make their enforcement an international initiative," adds Dr. Adams.

Chief Deputy U. S. Marshal Matthew Fogg (INA) attributes America's real estate market collapse, corresponding financial crisis, government budgetary issues, failing medical system, and arguably capricious legal system to the country's inadequate protection of those who sought and seek to avert these malfunctions by exposing their root causes. "Generally no amount of credentials, evidence, or harmful effects get these whistleblowers taken seriously by our Justice Department which fought me for years, even after a jury confirmed my report of rampant discrimination at the U. S. Marshal's Service," says Fogg.

ACORN 8 president Marcel Reid, essentially echoed Fogg's sentiments in commending POPULAR for endeavoring to protect the poor and otherwise disadvantaged from judicial corruption. She remarks, "By far, wealthy individuals and companies can control the legal process while average Americans must mobilize and harness collective strength for leverage against corruption."

POPULAR is an association of public interest attorneys and law school graduates also known as Juris Doctors or Doctors of Jurisprudence. These good government advocates are committed to helping poor and other disadvantaged people access affordable and competent legal representation, appropriate judicial oversight, and important civil and criminal justice system reforms. Their flagship project is an electronic signature drive known as the "Tear Down the Wall of Poverty" campaign. Parent to Parent Announces Exciting Sixth Annual Holiday Gift Guide

Parent to Parent Announces Exciting Sixth Annual Holiday Gift Guide

Parent to Parent Adding Wisdom Award is proud to present the long-anticipated Sixth Annual Holiday Gift Guide for 2006.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) November 29, 2006

Parent to Parent Adding Wisdom Award is proud to present the long-anticipated Sixth Annual Holiday Gift Guide for 2006.

"We are thrilled to present the winners for this year's holiday gift guide. They passed our tough criteria and deserve their time in the spotlight," says CEO/Founder, Jodie Lynn.

Due to the number of submissions, there will be a second publication, which is due out in a few weeks. It will also include products that garnished the Adding Wisdom Award™ in the "Best" and "Top" categories and highlight a new section for Business Books.

Lynn says, "It's extremely important for everyone to understand that the reviewing/testing process consists of 20 individuals, which also includes 'kid testers,' who actually 'test' each product. For example, in testing the WindTunnel 2 vacuum, I personally vacuumed all areas in my own home with another brand, not once, but three times, before using the new WindTunnel 2; I was quite surprised to see how much 'stuff' that it still picked up. In a home where kids, adults and pets all live under one roof, I thought this was an amazing victory for Hoover."

For additional information, please see http://www. addingwisdomaward. com (http://www. addingwisdomaward. com) and discover a gift for that special someone.

Joe Balog is celebrating his one Year Anniversary as a Non-Smoker 60 Pounds Lighter. What Joe did is an amazing accomplishment! It can be difficult enough to quit smoking or lose 60 pounds but to do both within one year is truly inspiring. With Dan Vitchoff and PA Hypnosis Center's help, Joe was able to turn his life around and improve his quality of life; he has more energy and his family is thrilled with his success.

Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) November 20, 2008

The American Cancer Society's Great American Smoke Out has a special meaning for Joe Balog this year. Joe, who lives in West Virginia is celebrating his one year anniversary of being a non-smoker and he is also 60 pounds lighter. Joe Balog began working with Dan Vitchoff, Board Certified Hypnotherapist and President of PA Hypnosis Center in Pittsburgh, PA in November of 2007 with a goal to quit smoking.

He had been smoking for over 17 years and had tried just about everything else to quit smoking and nothing worked. He even tried a group hypnosis session and wasn't able to quit. Joe's mom, Bernice was looking around on the Internet and found PA Hypnosis Center's website, www. pahypnosiscenter. com and decided to call and find out more information. When she called, she was pleased to find out that she and Joe could come in for a Free Consultation and Evaluation to learn more about how they could reach their goals with hypnosis. Joe and Bernice came in for their Consultation and were impressed by how relaxing the office was and how professional the staff was. Dan talked to both of them about what "a day in the life of..." looked like for each of them and asked them what they wanted to accomplish. Even though Joe wanted to lose weight and quit smoking, he decided to participate in a Hypnosis Smoking Cessation Program first and then work on the weight loss second.

Joe's first session allowed him to wrap his mind around the idea that he was going to live the rest of his life as a non-smoker and his second session was his quit day. On Joe's Quit Day, he left PA Hypnosis Center's office is Pittsburgh, PA as a Non-Smoker free of cravings and desires and finally free from cigarettes! After Joe successfully quit smoking he decided to participate in a Weight Loss Program to improve his health and have more energy. Now, one year later, not only is Joe Balog celebrating his 1 Year Anniversary as a Non-Smoker; he has also lost 60 Pounds.

Dan Vitchoff is one of the Nation's Leading Hypnotherapists and the Founder of the Nationally Accredited Sports Improvement Technique, "The 33 Method". Dan had the unique experience of working with the U. S. Olympic Shooting Team at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. UNICEF Africa Named Beneficiary Of Africamix Traveling Arts and Music Festival

UNICEF Africa Named Beneficiary Of Africamix Traveling Arts and Music Festival

SACRAMENTO, Calif., /PRNewswire/ -- Africamix, a California-based nonprofit organization announced today that UNICEF Africa will be a primary beneficiary of its traveling arts and music festival organized to help combat child abuse and neglect. The volunteer-organized and oriented festival is scheduled to visit 20 countries around the world beginning in June

(PRWEB) January 31, 2002

According to Beatrice Gatebuke, Africamix principal spokesperson and the USA festival organizer, there is a growing need for attention to improving the life and protecting the rights of children in Africa -- particularly in those regions especially impacted by civil wars, the HIV/AIDS health epidemic and poverty. Researches have demonstrated no social problem has ever been brought under control by providing after-the-fact treatment to the victims of the problem. Preventive, proactive, before-the-fact interventions have, historically, been the only effective way to control or eliminate important social problems

"If we can use music celebrations to spread messages of HIV/AIDS prevention and other social problems, then we can also use music celebrations to promote awareness and prevention of child abuse and neglect," Ms Gatebuke said.

The collective volunteer pledge festival will commence its global tour in California in June. Hosts for the 20-country tour include Canada in July; England and France in August; Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya and Ethiopia in September; Zambia, Mozambique, Madagascar and South Africa in October; Botswana, Angola, Congo Brazzaville, DR Congo and Senegal in November and Mali, Sierra-Leone and Nigeria in December.

Ms. Gatebuke also added that while no one expects the touring arts and music festival to end the global problem of child abuse and neglect, but it offers the benefit of a new concept that demonstrate that musicians and artists should be a part of any collective effort aimed at community-based child abuse intervention and prevention activities. Keeping children safe is a community responsibility, and prevention must be a community task. Every segment of society must be involved, including artists and musicians

Online Tech and VersaIMAGE Sign SaaS Hosting Agreement

Online Tech and VersaIMAGE Sign SaaS Hosting Agreement

Document Management Software Moves to Software-as-a-Service Model

Ann Arbor, MI (PRWEB) April 21, 2010

VersaIMAGE, a leader in hybrid Document Image Management Systems (DIMS), has signed an agreement with Online Tech to host their VersaIMAGE-WEB, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform on Online Tech’s managed servers (http://www. onlinetech. com/managed_servers).

VersaIMAGE is helping government agencies, financial, real estate, manufacturing and health care institutions cut costs by moving from paper to electronic records. VersaIMAGE’s document management system makes it easy to securely scan, store and retrieve records over the Internet; reducing paper, storage, and retrieval time.

By moving the entire document management system to an Internet-based application, VersaIMAGE removed the obstacles their clients faced in purchasing and managing their own hardware, software and backup systems.

Knowing that their SaaS application would need to be available and secure around-the-clock, VersaIMAGE turned to Online Tech to provide the managed servers required to host the application. Online Tech’s managed servers, housed in their SAS 70 audited data centers (http://www. onlinetech. com/managed_hosting/sas_70/), are delivered fully configured and include around-the-clock server monitoring, first responder service to any issue that might arise, and 24x7 hands-on support.

“With the cost-effective, secure hosting solutions that Online Tech offered, it made little sense to try to do this on our own,” says Alex Brunner, VersaIMAGE CEO. “We don’t have to spend a second worrying about our hardware, network or backups. Online Tech has taken care of everything for us – letting us focus on where we add the greatest value – our imaging and document management applications.”

VersaIMAGE is protecting its data by automatically backing up to Online Tech’s second data center 53 miles away. Online Tech’s two datacenters (located in Ann Arbor and Flint, Michigan) are ideally located for data backup and disaster recovery. The data centers are located on two separate power grids supported by two different utility providers and are interconnected through a Gigabit fiber making it easy to back up data to a separate location for disaster recovery (http://www. onlinetech. com/managed_hosting/disaster_recovery/).

“When we were looking for a partner to host our SaaS application, Online Tech was the only data center that used 2 separate power grids and was supported by different utility providers. With this type of redundancy, we felt confident that our customer data is 100% secure and will always be online and available,” said Brunner.

“Many small and mid-sized businesses do not have the infrastructure to securely host their document management solutions on site. By moving from onsite systems to a SaaS hosted solution, VersaIMAGE delivers a more secure, more accessible solution that is significantly more cost effective than onsite systems,” says Mike Klein, President of Online Tech. “We are pleased that VersaIMAGE chose Online Tech to host their customer-critical applications.”

About Online Tech
Online Tech (www. OnlineTech. com) is one of the Midwest’s premier managed data center operators. Online Tech owns and manages secure and reliable multi-tenant data centers in Michigan. Industry leaders trust Online Tech’s SAS70 certified data centers to insure their servers are always on, always online, and always safe.

Chiesi Group Launch New Product Into UK £80 Million Asthma Market

Chiesi Group Launch New Product Into UK £80 Million Asthma Market

Chiesi Group announces the UK launch of Clenil® Modulite® (beclometasone dipropionate [BDP]), a new CFC-free metered-dose inhaler (MDI) by their UK affiliate Trinity-Chiesi Pharmaceuticals. There are several CFC-free reliever inhalers currently available in the UK but Clenil® Modulite® is only the second CFC-free preventer (BDP) inhaler in this market.

(PRWEB) July 26, 2006

Chiesi Group announces the UK launch of Clenil® Modulite® (beclometasone dipropionate [BDP]), a new CFC-free metered-dose inhaler (MDI) by their UK affiliate Trinity-Chiesi Pharmaceuticals. There are several CFC-free reliever inhalers currently available in the UK but Clenil® Modulite® is only the second CFC-free preventer (BDP) inhaler in this market.

The Montreal Protocol1, and the UK Transition Strategy2, provides a commitment to remove CFC-containing products from the market once two alternative products containing beclometasone and at least one CFC-free MDI product for each of budesonide and fluticasone are available in an adequate range of doses. If the Department of Health, DEFRA and/or other interested bodies, deem Clenil® Modulite® to be the ‘trigger’ to withdraw all CFC-containing BDP inhalers, and the current Transition Strategy is invoked, it is anticipated that healthcare professionals will have a 6-month window to manage the transition of all BDP patients to CFC-free BDP.

In England, more than 7 million prescriptions are issued for CFC-containing BDP products every year.3 Importantly, Clenil® Modulite® will be the only CFC-free preventer inhaler that has dose-for-dose equivalence to current CFC-containing preventer inhalers. This will aid a seamless transition as the patient’s prescription dose will not need to be changed.

Years after manufacturers of aerosol cans moved away from CFC propellants in a bid to halt the depletion of the ozone layer, pharmaceutical companies have been undertaking research to find alternative propellants to enable them to remove CFCs from inhalers.

Extensive research by Trinity-Chiesi Pharmaceuticals lead to the development of the Modulite® proprietary technology which enabled the production of a formulation that uses HFA-134a (hydrofluoroalkane) as a propellant instead of CFC.

Aside from this UK launch, the Modulite® technology is already commercially available with beclometasone dipropionate in France, Italy and Germany, with budesonide in Germany, and formoterol in the UK, Germany and Italy.

Trinity-Chiesi Pharmaceuticals has particular expertise in patient-focused, innovative, respiratory medicines as evidenced in the development and launch of modified-release asthma drugs including Clenil® Modulite®, Atimos® Modulite® and Pulvinal®

Mr Tom Delahoyde, Managing Director, Trinity-Chiesi Pharmaceuticals commented. “The issue of CFC-free is an important one and our unstinting focus on developing innovative patient-focused respiratory medicines is good for our company, asthma patients and, of course, the environment”.

WOMEN BUSINESS TRAVELERS GET DEDICATED CHANNEL ON WORLDROOM. COM

WOMEN BUSINESS TRAVELERS GET DEDICATED CHANNEL ON WORLDROOM. COM

(PRWEB) June 23, 2000

Hong Kong, 21 June 2000

-Worldroom. com, a global on-line resource for international business travelers has launched a web channel dedicated to serving the growing ranks of traveling women executives.

“Female executives make up about 25 percent of business travelers in Asia alone,” said Tina Nepomuceno-Di Cicco, executive vice president of Worldroom. com and founding partner of I-Quest Corporation. “They don’t necessarily have special needs, just different from their male counterparts.”

Worldroom. com is the web arm of I-Quest Corporation, a global provider of broadband Internet services to the hospitality industry and the creator of one of the most comprehensive online resources for the business travelers. Nepomuceno-Di Cicco said the womenÂ’s channel, aptly called WomenÂ’sWorld, will be featured in the Internet content offered in more than 50,000 hotel rooms under contract for I-QuestÂ’s Internet solution, Worldroom Connect.

“While Women’sWorld will be available to anyone with Internet access, our unique network of guestrooms in some

170 hotels worldwide will give us an unprecedented opportunity to serve women business travelers exactly in their time of need,” she said. I-Quest’s Worldroom Connect broadband Internet solution allows travelers to simply plug their network-enabled laptop computers into a connection box in their hotel rooms and get high-speed, plug-and-play access to the Internet. When a user logs onto the Worldroom Connect system, the first web page they see is a local city guide and other relevant information provided by Worldroom. com’s extensive network of business and travel reports across Asia and Europe. Nepomuceno-Di Cicco said Women’sWorld draws on the resources of Worldroom. com to provide unique insights and advice to help business women get their jobs done on the road.”The women executives and editors in the company took a very hands-on approach in the project as many of us travel frequently and juggle a variety of roles,” Nepomuceno-Di Cicco said. “They shared first –hand experiences and tips which provided an excellent starting point.”

WomenÂ’sWorld includes business features for women in management, helpful articles for women dealing with a foreign culture and sensitivities, how to handle parenting while on the road, tips on travelling alone, book reviews, guest columns by well-known personalities, helpful links and much more. The channel also looks into the special needs of women who are pregnant, travelling overseas for the first time, or accompanied by children on business tripsEssential Tips on WomenÂ’sWorld provide useful information on health and safety, networking, packing for business trips, how to avoid harassment and lessen culture shock. WomenÂ’sTravel 101 on this new channel provides basic and first-hand information through an on-line forum where women travelers share their experiences and helpful tips.

“We believe that the best advice would be from women, for women,” Nepomuceno-Di Cicco said. “We wanted to solicit feedback, and use this as a platform to build a direct relationship with our users. For

Instance, many women travelers are not aware that some hotels have an all-women guest floor or guestrooms with extra amenities like shorter bathrobes, bath salts and reading materials for women. These are the insider tips that we want to share with other women travelers.”

A frequent business traveler herself, as well as a mother of two, Nepomuceno-Di Cicco was personally involved in the conceptualization and development of WomenÂ’sWorld. She works closely with the editorial and design teams to shape content, the site aesthetics as well as the ease of navigation.

WomenÂ’sWorld will be launched in Singapore, Hong Kong and Manila in June 2000, and is now live on www. worldroom. com.

Fourteen Boston Students Named CollegeCorps Interns

Fourteen Boston Students Named CollegeCorps Interns

CollegeCorps, a nonprofit organization based in Cambridge, Massachussetts has announced its second class of interns. In an effort to raise awarness about the UN Millennium Development Goals and to provide students with meaningful volunteer experience, 14 undergraduates have been selected to participate in summer-long internships in eight countries. Collectively, they will receive nearly $55,000 in scholarship support.

Cambridge, MA (PRWEB) April 27, 2005

CollegeCorps, a nonprofit organization based in Cambridge, Massachusetts today announced the names of fourteen Boston-area undergraduates selected to participate in the CollegeCorps Intern program. These fourteen students who will be traveling to eight countries – India, Mexico, South Africa, Uganda, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia – represent the second class of interns under the new initiative, endorsed by the United Nations Development Program and supported by the Harvard University Committee on Human Rights Studies, the United Nations, and the New England Regional Peace Corps office.

The fourteen participants – Christina Angelides (Harvard), Elanor Broh (Harvard), Akash Goel (Harvard), Noah Hertz-Bunzl (Harvard), Jane Kim (Harvard), Sarah Kinsella (Harvard), Chen Lim (BC), Karen Lo (Harvard), Hani Malone (Harvard), Ken McKinley (Harvard), Shirali Pandya (MIT), Lilian Perez (Wellesley), Lauren Sancken (Harvard), and Magnolia Turbidy (Clark University) – were selected based on demonstrated leadership abilities, a real and strong desire to contribute to international development efforts and exceptional academic accomplishment. Nearly 100 students applied for positions in Latin America, Africa and Asia.

CollegeCorps interns experience an academic dimension that is rarely emphasized in other international service programs. As part of their application, undergraduates must identify a faculty advisor whom they will work with in outlying an academic project to be completed during their overseas service. Furthermore, the participants engage in weekly training sessions that attract renowned experts in international development, including Paul Farmer, professor at Harvard Medical School and founder of Partners in Health, Stephen Marks, Director of the Center for Health and Human Rights at the Harvard School of Public Health, Richard Cooper, Professor of international economics at Harvard University and Jeff Sachs, Director of the Earth Institute at Columbia University and Special Advisor to the UN Secretary General.

Recognizing that undergraduates are often burdened by the financial aspects of international service, CollegeCorps provides need-based scholarships. This year, over $55,000 in grants were awarded to the participants. These financial awards were made possible by the generosity of local business, philanthropists, and foundations, including ArQule, Inc., the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Gregory C. Carr Foundation.

“I’m really looking forward to my internship in South Africa. I think it will definitely expose me to another dimension of healthcare that my coursework just can’t reveal,” said Malone.

The summer internship program is only one initiative of CollegeCorps. The organization is currently planning events to raise awareness of the UN Millennium Development Goals and hopes to expand its internship program to students in New York City and San Francisco by 2006. Nevertheless, the organization’s CEO and co-founder, Hani Elias, is very pleased and excited with this class of interns. “We are very fortunate to attract such a dedicated group of students – they’re ready to learn from the opportunity to participate in international development efforts, and are looking forward to sharing their findings with their peers when they return."

The public will have the opportunity to follow these fourteen students online at www. thecollegecorps. org. There, participants will post journal entries that speak of the hardships of volunteerism, share lessons learned, and engage in a dialogue with those interested in international development.
