International Blogging and New Media Association Relaunched to Serve Growing Demand

The growing success of blogging and new media drives demand for an association to represent users' needs. Veteran business bloggers Paul Chaney, Jim Turner and Zane Safrit join IBNMA as president and executive board members.

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) July 21, 2008

The International Blogging and New Media Association (http://www. ibnma. org) (IBNMA) today announced that it has relaunched under the leadership of newly-elected president Paul Chaney.

"Over the past six months we searched extensively for the right person to lead the organization and revitalize its health and growth," said IBNMA founder Rick Calvert. "We believe Paul is that person and we're thrilled he has accepted to serve as president."

Chaney is a veteran business blogger and was co-founder of Blogging Systems, a blog software company that significantly impacted the real estate industry by encouraging Realtors to adopt blogging as a marketing strategy. He also co-authored Realty Blogging: Build your Brand and Outsmart Your Competition (http://tinyurl. com/realtyblogging), which was the first blogging book to target a specific industry vertical.

"I came to the conclusion a number of years ago that blogging, podcasting and other forms of social media were burgeoning into an industry which, at some point, would need an association to represent it," stated Chaney. "That time has come and I'm honored to be given the opportunity to lead IBNMA to be the standard bearer."

The IBNMA's strives to serve the interests of the blogging and new media communities as a global non-profit association. The Association's mission is four-fold: To provide research, information, education and advocacy to bloggers, podcasters, social media consultants and others engaged in the industry in any way.

"The organization's mission and goals remain intact and serve a need in our industry. However, taking ideas and goals from concept to reality has been much more difficult than was originally anticipated, slowing development of the organization until now," said Chaney. "My role is to serve as a catalyst to kick-start short-term growth and lay a foundation that will insure long-term viability."

Jim Turner and Zane Safrit have joined IBNMA as board members. Turner is a well-respected social media consultant, professional blogger and president of One by One Media (http://www. onebyonemedia. com). Safrit, also a veteran blogger and former CEO of Conference Calls Unlimited, is a small business management consultant (http://zanesafrit. typepad. com). Rounding out the board include IBNMA founders Rick Calvert and Miles Durfee.
