J&B Restaurant Partners Reaches New Heights; Company Helps Nonprofits & Charities

Ronkonkoma, N. Y. (PRWEB) August 14, 2005

J&B Restaurant PartnersÂ’ (J&B) legacy of giving back to the communities in which they serve has reached new heights this summer.

Just this year, the organization, which operates leading restaurant brands such as all the FriendyÂ’s Restaurants on Long Island, several Taco Bells and manages all the concessions at Jones Beach and Robert Moses State Parks, has supported local nonprofits and charitable organizations in their efforts to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for their specific causes.

“We care very much for our customers and the communities where we do business” said Joe Vitrano, president of J&B Restaurant Partners. “Giving back to the communities is part of our mission.”

Since the beginning of the year, J&B has participated and supported a wide array of charitable events whose results have been phenomenal:

-On May 15, 2005, J&B provided lunch to more than 2,000 participants who walked 5 kilometers on the Jones Beach Boardwalk in support of the National Alliance for Mentally (NAMI). NAMI educates the public about different kinds of mental illnesses and raises awareness about the stigma attached to such illnesses. The event raised $130,000 for NAMI research and programs.

-In addition, J&B has taken an active role in supporting the American Heart Association. Every year at many Long Island schools, the AHA sponsors the “Jump Rope for Heart,” a fundraiser that teaches children about maintaining a healthy lifestyle while jumping rope. This year, the event raised more than $900,000, with J&B distributing over 150,000 FREE Happy Ending Sundaes to fundraising students across Long Island who participated in the Jump Rope for Heart program. In addition J&B hosted a post-event dinner for students, principals, and other coordinators at their Top Flight Food Court at Nassau Community College.

-J&B gave a gift certificate for $2,000 worth of sports equipment to Sawmill Mandracchia Intermediate School in Commack for raising $24,000 for the American Heart Association Jump Rope For Heart program, the most money raised by any school here on Long Island. They also gave bicycles to the top four students from schools all over Long Island who raised the most money individually during the Jump Rope for Heart program.

-In June 2005, J&B was the exclusive sponsor of the Michael J. Tenaglia Miracle Miles program at Garden City that raised approximately $25,000. The Miracle Miles program which was coordinated by The Miracle Club at Garden City High School which consists of fundraising students who promote cancer awareness and community service among students and the community in which they live. The students devote their time and energy to volunteering, raising funds and participating in various school and community projects designed to make an impact for those who suffer from the effects of cancer.

-During the beginning of the year, J&B helped Easter Seals to raise over $100,000 for their program. The money is used here on Long Island to help individuals with disabilities.

-And currently, J&B is supporting Easter Seals’ First Long Island “Walk With Me” program that will take place in September at Jones Beach State Park. Thousands of walkers are expected to participate. The money raised will support children and adults with disabilities.

The year is only half through and the momentum is rising. J&B is already committed to supporting several nonprofits and their causes during the remainder of the year. “There is no better way for us as a company to thank the Long Island community than to help others” explains Joe Vitrano. “It is a wonderful feeling to know that we can make a difference.”
