DIETS DON'T WORK

DIETS DON'T WORK

We have all tried to diet yet, if recently released statistics are correct, we are all failing. Weight gain in the Western World is increasing. Is there anything we can do?

“DIETS DON’T WORK”

How can it be said that diets donÂ’t work? Most of us have, at some time, lost weight on diets of various kinds, or we at least know others that have lost weight by being on diets. All true, but most of us in the Western world are heavier now than ever. And that is why diets donÂ’t work. Yes, you lose some weight, but usually it is put straight back on and, for most of us, even more than before.

Recent research shows that over 90 per cent of anybody on a diet, has a higher weight 6 months after finishing than before they started. Furthermore there doesn’t seem to be any significant difference between different types of diets; no matter which plan you follow, be it Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig or the Banana diet, they all seem to result in “bounce back” weight gain.

When we know that most women over 30 have been on more than 15 diets in their life, and that they are heavier now than ever, something is wrong.

Given these facts, what can we do? Food in all its different forms is basically energy for the body. If we want to reduce weight we must take in less energy in the form of calories than we take out in the form of using our bodies. So we have basically two ways to effectively lose weight - eat fewer calories or increase activity levels.

One way of eating fewer calories can be done by eating healthier foods and regulating our food intake to include less fatty food and snacks, and more fruit and vegetables. The problem is that we have indications that that is not enough - we eat healthier now than ever before, and we are still getting more and more over weight.

The other option is to exercise. We all know that exercise is good for us, and we all should try to do as much as we can. However from a weight point of view it is not enough, because of two main factors. Exercise, especially for weight loss, takes time. In our modern lifestyle it is very difficult to find the time to go for a walk of one hour or more a day. Between work, kids and other tasks, most of us canÂ’t find the time. Our modern lifestyle with driving cars, using modern appliances, remote controls and its like reduces the energy outtake so much that it is very difficult to even compensate that loss with increased exercise. Indicative research shows that we have a reduction in our energy outtake of more than 10 per cent in just the last 15 years.

That said, every little helps and by doing moderate exercise and eating healthier we can at least put on less weight than we otherwise would have done. It is also healthy, and we know that an active overweight person is very often healthier than a less active skinny person.

Losing weight in modern society is difficult and it is clear that we could all use a little help. Although there are many hundreds of different products available, only two seem to offer realistic approaches to long term weight loss. One is a helper to just eat less and the other stops the body from taking up the excess energy we take in.

Let start with the latter. The one that works here is Xenecal, which is only available on prescription in most countries. It is basically a laxative that lets the excess calories (in the form of fat) pass through the body, without it being taken up. However this will have side effects, hence the prescription. It must also be the top of decadency, to stuff ourselves, just to pass it out again. The Romans, and their vomitoria spring to mind.

The other is Regulator, a new natural non-calorie food that reduces, like all food, your craving and hunger. It works like any other food, and it takes about one hour to work. Most of us have certain time of the day when we take in more energy than we should. Regulator taken an hour before helps users to just not feel hungry. It can also be used to eat less at meals, between meals or whatever works for your individual lifestyle. It is safe, proven to work, but there is no magic to it. It is help for the user to eat less and that is all.

Live your normal life, eat as healthy as you can, exercise at much as you have time for and use Regulator to help control those cravings. For more information see www. regulator-r. com
