The Edge Leisure club (www. edge-fitness. co. uk) located at Barnham Broom Hotel (www. barnham-broom. co. uk) Norwich has recently been awarded the England Squash Club Charter Gold Award.
The Edge is the only club in the county (Norfolk) to have achieved its Silver and Gold awards. Steve Amos the England Squash Regional Development Officer said "The Edge at Barnham Broom is really setting the standard for squash in Norfolk and they are one of only 25 clubs nationwide to have achieved Gold Charter Status. They have clearly demonstrated their commitment to squash development and are offering a fantastic programme for adults and juniors".
The number of squash players at the club has vastly increased over the past 18 months. Much of this is down to an active squash programme filled with activities for players of all ages, and an enjoyable, friendly and welcoming club atmosphere.
Resident Squash Coach at the club, Craig Aldred who is also the Norfolk Squash County Development Officer has been at the Club for two years. In this time he has implemented a programme that has seen the club being awarded a £5,000 lottery grant to develop squash in 2002 and England Squash Club Charter Award success at Bronze and Silver level.
In addition to first class Squash facilities, The Edge health & fitness club also offers tennis with resident qualified coaches, indoor swimming pool, gymnasium, sauna, steam room, spa, solarium and crèche. A choice of bars and restaurants offer a choice of menus from light snacks in the SportsBar and Café to more formal dining in Flint’s restaurant.
