Parents to Outlive Children

Parents to Outlive Children

Why are our kids so sick? Children born in 2000 or later are not expected to outlive their parents.

Why are our kids so sick?

The statistics are staggering: over 8 million children have asthma, up 232% in the last 40 years (1); type 2 diabetes as increased 10 fold in the past twenty years (2); cancer kills more kids than any other disease (includes acute leukemias, tumors of the brain, nervous system, lymphatic system, kidneys, bones, and muscles) (3).

Why are our kids so sick? One reason is we eat too much bad food and this food will either build their body up or tear their body down. In March 2005, Dr. David Katz of the Yale Preventive Medicine Research Center in New Haven, Connecticut stated in the Wall Street Journal that a ‘poor diet in kids is more dangerous than alcohol, drugs, and tobacco combined!” The top 3 foods consumed in America are hot dogs, white bread and coffee. Tragically, Americans spend over 110 billion on fast food each year, which is more than we spend on higher education, books and computers combined.

What can you do? Although the task may seem daunting, you can make a difference in the health of a child by simply understanding that many so-called foods are not really foods at all. Slowly begin converting household snacks and meals to include fruits and vegetables. Getting your child to eat beets, spinach or peaches may seem impossible, but you and they can do this.
