DuPont has shaped the world from its Teflon® nonstick coating used in cookware to Kevlar® fiber found in bullet-resistant vests to its Lycra® spandex fiber for manufacturing quality apparel.
DuPontÂ’s beginnings were established in July 19, 1802 by French immigrant Eleuthere Irenee du Pont, the man who founded DuPont Company in Wilmington, Delaware. From an explosives company, it was molded into a broad science-based chemical company on its second hundred years that expanded its market with new products like paints, plastics, cellophane, synthetic rubber, safety glass, and numerous synthetic fibers.
From then on, DuPont deepened its commitment to scientific discovery and turned its attention toward saving energy and renewing the earthÂ’s natural resources.
Throughout its history, DuPont has redefined and broadened its scientific mission, most recently adding biology to the chemistry it knows well. Soronaä, one of its new polymer products, is now made using biotechnology through a fermentation process from corn sugar, instead of using petrochemicals.

DuPont Philippines has been operating in the country since 1972 with Ramon Abadilla as Managing Director and Asia Pacific Regional Sourcing Manager for DuPont’s Crop Protection Products business. The company has two ISO 9002 certified plants—the Crop Protection Products Plant in Canlubang, Laguna and Seed Production Plant in Polomolok South Cotabato.
The DuPont company has continued to dedicate themselves to “improving the planet”. DuPont Philippines is also involved in various local community projects such as the reforestation of Mt. Makiling Forest Reserve Watershed, the Productivity Center for the Golden Acres’ Home for the Aged and a program providing free dental and medical clinics for farmers and their families. They have also supported scholarships for less fortunate students of the Philippine Science High School and Family Farm Schools as well as lending support to the Pasig River Heritage Marathon. The company can also be counted on for assistance during times of natural disasters such as floods, earthquakes, or volcanic eruptions.
