ZAAP Campaign to Raise Public Awareness of Antibiotic Abuse

ZAAP Campaign to Raise Public Awareness of Antibiotic Abuse

Winter is approaching, bringing with it colds, the flu, sinus infections and countless prescriptions of antibiotics. Antibiotics are often over-prescribed and improperly used and abused. Years of abuse have taken their toll resulting in the new "super bugs." Dr. Murray Grossan has started an awareness campaign, ZAAP - Zap Antibiotic Abuse Personally, to educate the public about antibiotic abuse and how to stop it.

Sherman Oaks, CA (PRWEB) October 13, 2005

Antibiotics, although a powerful and sometimes necessary medicine, are often over-prescribed, improperly taken and unnecessarily relied upon. The abuse of antibiotics has now been linked to many serious ailments including breast cancer, increase of asthma, allergic skin conditions, and urinary infections.

Dr. Murray Grossan, a board certified ear, nose and throat specialist with over 30 years experience in medical practice has started an awareness campaign entitled ZAAP (Zap Antibiotic Abuse Personally). Dr. Grossan commented, “Of course, antibiotics save lives and are wonderful products. But they must not be abused. With less needless antibiotic prescriptions, your cost of health care will go down. With less drug resistant infections, your own life may be saved.”

Dr. Grossan has long advocated the use of natural methods to compliment patient treatment. With cold and flu season approaching, many patients ask what they can do if suffering from sinus or other upper respiratory infections. The old adage of getting plenty of rest and drinking hot fluids, especially tea, still works wonders. Pulsatile irrigation of the nose can also help clear sinuses and prevent colds all together.

The goal of the ZAAP campaign is to help the public become aware of what antibiotic abuse is; how to avoid it and how to stop it all together. Dr. Grossan is considered an expert in his field and is highly regarded for his experience and knowledge. Through his campaign, Dr. Grossan hopes to share some of the expertise he has gained through his many years as a medical doctor, treating others. Simple advice like using papaya or pineapple enzymes to help clear mucous in the sinuses and using pulsatile nasal irrigation to keep bacteria out is helpful.
