Mesa, AZ (Vocus) June 4, 2010

Career training college (http://pmi. edu/careers_home. asp), Pima Medical Institute, a leading private medical career college, announced today the offering of its second bachelor’s degree program, the Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy (http://pmi. edu/online/careers/online_bsrt_respiratory_therapy. asp). This online program is the second bachelor’s degree program offered by the school, joining the premier bachelor’s degree offering, the Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences, which launched earlier this year.

The BSRT degree offered at the career training college is a completion program designed to help current respiratory therapists attain their goals of professional advancement in respiratory therapy as health care managers and leaders. Prospective students must have current certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), possess a high school diploma or recognized equivalency, and have completed a total of 71 semester credits of specific coursework at the postsecondary level at an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the United States Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

“At Pima Medical Institute, we are dedicated to providing our students with a complete career path that will help them reach their goals,” said Mark Luebke, president of Pima Medical Institute. “With the introduction of the Bachelor of Respiratory Therapy, our second online bachelor’s degree completion program, we are continuing Pima’s proud tradition of offering a quality education that fits into students’ busy schedules while allowing them to better their lives for themselves and their families.”

Pima Medical Institute developed the BSRT program, including its mission, philosophy, objectives and goals, with input from the respiratory program directors from across its network of campuses. In addition, the career training college utilized market research obtained from employers of respiratory therapists on key skills they look for when hiring employees. Following the gathering of that research, the college mapped out objectives for the courses in the program and developed syllabi before carving out the online coursework.

As with the BSRS program, prior to being able to offer BSRT to students, Pima was required to work through the accrediting process, and received approval from both the Arizona State Board for Private Postsecondary Education and the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools.

The online offering of the BSRT program provides students with flexibility, allowing them to better balance their education with their personal and professional commitments. The program content includes a variety of subjects such as courses in advanced level respiratory therapy and health administration.
