Guadalupe Health Alliance to Hold Diabetes Fund-raising Campaign on Nov. 19 at Lifetime Fitness in Tempe; First-Time Event to Benefit the Town of Guadalupe
The Guadalupe Health Alliance, a healthcare organization dedicated to diabetes education, will hold its first-annual fund-raiser, Muevete Guadalupe for Diabetes, on Friday, Nov. 19, 2004. The event will take place from 6-9 p. m. at Lifetime Fitness, 1616 Ruby Drive, in Tempe.

The Guadalupe Health Alliance, a healthcare organization dedicated to diabetes education, will hold its first-annual fund-raiser, Muevete Guadalupe for Diabetes, on Friday, Nov. 19, 2004. The event will take place from 6-9 p. m. at Lifetime Fitness, 1616 Ruby Drive, in Tempe.
Admission for the event is $20 and will include wine tasting, hors dÂ’oeuvres, Latin music, a silent auction and raffle. All proceeds benefit the Guadalupe Health Alliance.
In addition to the fund-raiser, the Guadalupe Health Alliance is planning and implementing communitywide prevention and education activities to address the risk factors of diabetes, such as family history, overweight/obesity, lack of physical activity and poor nutritional practices.
According to the Guadalupe Health Alliance, the sponsor for the event, the idea of the diabetes committee was based upon cultural respect, treatment with dignity, community involvement and ownership, as well as the promotion of education and healthy lifestyles.
“As an individual with diabetes, I am committed to improving the health and quality of life of others that struggle with the same health challenges, and my hope is that this fund-raiser will set the pace for raising diabetes awareness in the community of Guadalupe.” said Kyna Rosen, the Diabetes Fundraiser Coordinator.
