Free One-Hour Massages to Benefit Breast Cancer Cause
Massage Envy® Hosts "Massage for the Cure," Donations Go To Susan G. Komen for the Cure
Atlanta (PRWEB) May 15, 2008
Massage Envy enthusiastically brings "Massage for the Cure" to Atlanta for the first time. On July 28, 2008, Atlantans can get a free massage to help fight cancer.
Appointments for the free one-hour therapeutic massages will be available from any of the 18 Massage Envy locations across Atlanta: Alpharetta, Austell, Buckhead, Camp Creek, Cumming Town Center, Dunwoody-Sandy Springs, Johns Creek, Kennesaw, Mall of Georgia, Merchants Festival, Midtown, Sugarloaf, Windy Hill @ Powers Ferry, Roswell East, Roswell West, Snellville, Stockbridge.
Massages are valued beginning at $39, and 100% of the donations received during the "Massage for the Cure" event will support breast cancer research and health programs through Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The Komen Greater Atlanta Affiliate provides breast cancer screenings and treatments for underserved women in addition to supporting national initiatives to research a cure.
This event's simple purpose is to raise money for the breast cancer movement and build community awareness to help find a cure for the disease. Each location will offer information about the disease, which affects nearly 213,000 women each year. To date, Massage for the Cure in other locations has raised more than $300,000 for Komen for the Cure. During 2008, Massage Envy will make a minimum guaranteed donation of $250,000 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure through the Massage for the Cure program
"We are excited to bring Massage for the Cure to Atlanta, an area that embodies healthy living," said Norm Klemmer, Massage Envy's Georgia regional developer. "In addition to aiding relaxation, massage therapy can boost the immune system, reduce blood pressure and ease chronic pain."
The event will run from 8 a. m. to 10 p. m. Appointments will be accepted beginning Monday, July 21. To find a clinic or book an appointment, please visit www. massageenvy. com.
Reminders will be emailed on July 20 to visitors who register by going to http://www. massageenvy. com/massage-for-the-cure. aspx (http://www. massageenvy. com/massage-for-the-cure. aspx) and selecting Atlanta.
"Too many women have lived in fear of breast cancer for far too long," said Massage Envy founder and CEO John Leonesio. "Our partnership with Susan G. Komen for the Cure will not only raise much needed dollars to fund mammograms and breast cancer research, but will also raise awareness about the importance of early detection and early treatment to offer the best chance of survival. We are proud to donate an entire day's proceeds in honor of our employees who have been affected by breast cancer."
About Susan G. Komen for the Cure®
Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise became Susan G. Komen for the Cure and launched the global breast cancer movement. Today, Komen for the Cure is the world's largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. Thanks to events like the Komen Race for the Cure, we have invested more than $1 billion to fulfill our promise, becoming the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world.
