Lifestyle changes or low-carb diets? What should we teach our kids?

Lifestyle changes or low-carb diets? What should we teach our kids?

According to the latest medical studies, American children are in desperate need of lifestyle changes.

Miami, FL (PRWEB) February 13, 2004

A study released in Jan. 2004 at Children's Hospital of Boston found that nearly one-third of U. S. children aged 4 to 19 eat “fast food” every day, additionally the 2003 FITS study showed that a high percentage of American children are establishing poor eating habits before their 2nd birthday. Obesity rates are soaring (one in five Americans are now considered obese) and more then 400,000 people a year lose their lives to smoking related diseases.

Dan Robey, author of the new best-selling book “The Power of Positive Habits” wants to change all of that. Dan spent two years researching medical studies and interviewing doctors and scientists from America’s most prestigious institutions in search of positive habits (lifestyle changes) that would result in improved health, reduced risk of disease, higher self-esteem, motivation and longer life.

As Dan puts it "based on the latest research it is clear that we need to instill in our children positive habits for lifelong health. The long term effects of the Atkins diet and other low carb diets are not yet known, what is known is that it is a persons lifestyle that determines their weight, and overall health...not a simple low carb diet change."
