Dr. Charles Mok, a triple board certified doctor and owner of Detroit’s largest medical spa, sees over 2,000 patients a month. Mok recognized the need for a quick and effective weight loss solution after his daily encounters with patients expressing their need to lose weight. This led him to develop the revolutionary new fitness program, 20 Second Fitness.
“I treat people every day who are trying to lose weight,” explains Mok. “They get frustrated because they aren’t able to find a fitness program that works. They just aren’t able to get the weight off with traditional exercise.”
High-intensity, anaerobic, interval training is the science behind what makes 20 Second Fitness effective. 20 Second Fitness is an at-home DVD workout program that consists of 20-second intervals, for four to 12 minutes a day. Each 20-second interval is done at the user’s own maximum, high-intensity level.
Science has proven that this type of training can burn up to nine times more calories than traditional exercise because the body experiences excess post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC) during high-intensity, anaerobic, interval training. This means that the body consumes more oxygen recovering from the exercise. This extra oxygen consumption creates increased calorie burn and metabolic demand even when the body is at a state of rest and long after the workout is over. With EPOC, fat stores are broken down and free fatty acids are released into the blood.
“We’ve been brainwashing ourselves for the past 30 years that the only way to lose weight is to spend hours doing aerobic exercise,” says Mok. “If your goal is losing weight in the most effective way possible, a high-intensity, anaerobic, interval exercise program such as 20 Second Fitness allows you to do just that.”
After developing and testing the program for over a year, Mok launched 20 Second Fitness in February of this year. Despite it’s short time in the market, users of the program have seen significant amounts of weight loss.
Scott Matheny, 30, a busy sales representative and a father of four small children is enthusiastic about the changes he’s seen in his body weight. “I’ve lost 25 pounds in three months from adding an average of eight to 12 minutes a day of exercise using 20 Second Fitness,” says Matheny. “I’ve been able to maintain the weight loss for six months. If 20 Second Fitness can fit into my busy schedule, I know that it can fit into any lifestyle.”
