Chefs to Go: Visiting Consumer Homes to Transform In-Home Eating

Consumers donÂ’t need to face dull meals in their homes any more. A growing trend brings chefs into peopleÂ’s homes to cook for days ahead of time, and one company puts the kitchen back into consumersÂ’ own hands as well.

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) November 11, 2004

If youÂ’re tired of looking at the same, average meals on the plates in your home, youÂ’re not alone. The restaurant industry is competitive and lucrative because most Americans today donÂ’t really feel confident in the kitchen. Many feel that cooking takes too much time and expertise.

A new trend, though, is bringing professional chefs into peopleÂ’s homes one to two times a week to produce evening meals for the next many days. The meals can fit various dietary needs, can suit the consumerÂ’s menu preferences, and can cost less and be more relaxing than frequent restaurant outings.

In the Dallas/Fort Worth area, Wellness Solutions to Go provides this service through their “Healthy Chefs To Go” program. But unlike similar businesses in other cities, they don’t stop with that one service.

“If someone wants to rely on a chef to do all the work, that’s ok,” says Adam Buttorff, Operations Manager for Wellness Solutions to Go. “But we also provide options to empower people so that they can learn to shop and cook for themselves, taking the mystery out of cooking. We want to show them that it’s simple to prepare gourmet foods on their own.”

Healthy Chefs To Go offers a six-week course called “Lifestyle Makeover: Unlocking the Mysteries of The Kitchen” that actually begins in their customer’s local grocery store, where they teach how to shop in order to prepare for any kind of menu. Afterwards, the actual cooking takes place in the customer’s own kitchen, where he or she learns from a professional how easy it can be to prepare great food at home.

Another service by Healthy Chefs to Go is an unusual course called “Lifestyle Makeover: Mastering the Dinner Party.” In this case, the course is a dinner party in itself where guests learn the whole process of cooking for a group without having to get their hands dirty. The chef cooks the evening meal, but teaches the group about food preparation, timing, food lore, and related topics.

“We’re very excited about how we can help people,” says Buttorff. “Our nation is facing such a challenge with overweight adults and youth obesity. Much of this is simply due to a lack of knowledge about healthy food preparation. With a little education, we can provide people the ability to craft their own diets, enjoy entertaining, and make wonderful use of their kitchens as well.”
