Dallas, TX (PRWEB) November 13, 2006
On Thursday, November 9th, five 40 foot shipping containers left MediSend International's Dallas warehouse bound for hospitals in Lebanon and Palestine. A leadership grant from the ExxonMobil Foundation funded MediSend's largest single relief mission to-date. MediSend shipped over 35 tons of medical equipment and supplies including biomedical equipment fulfilling the commitment to the MediSend Middle East Emergency Relief Campaign.
In September, MediSend International issued a plea for donations of medical supplies and equipment, as well as funding to facilitate the shipping of life-saving medical relief to the Middle East. MediSend International's Middle East Emergency Relief Campaign was made available to all countries in the region that qualified for emergency assistance and requested support.
Hospitals, manufacturers and distributors of health care products such as Tenet Healthcare Corp. and Henry Schein, Inc. each contributed large quantities of medical supplies and equipment to the MediSend Middle East Emergency Relief Campaign. MediSend is working with USAID and ANERA on distribution in the Lebanon and Gaza areas.
Dallas-based MediSend International is a humanitarian organization providing medical aid and education to people in need in developing countries worldwide. MediSend's global mission includes the distribution of medical supplies and equipment in long-term medical aid programs and emergency-disaster medical relief campaigns, as well as educational programs in biomedical technician training.
