Fleet Driver Assessments

Fleet Driver Assessments

Fleet driver assessments can help reduce the number of fatal road accidents in the United Kingdom.

(PRWEB) June 12, 2005

DBLTraining. co. uk offers Fleet Driver Assessment and Training for company drivers to help reduce the number of road fatalities.

With company drivers being involved in more than ¼ of all fatal road accidents in the United Kingdom each year, more and more fleet managers are looking for guidance and training for their drivers.

Can this statistic be reduced?

DBL Training believes it can. With the correct guidance for company drivers not only in driving, but vehicle safety and time management DBL Training feel accidents whilst driving for work can be reduced.

The Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 states the following: “It shall be the duty of every employer to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare at work of all his employees.” This statement puts the onus on the company to ensure their drivers are safe whilst working for them.

In 2006 legislation is to be introduced which will put tight controls on bus and lorry drivers. By 2008 for bus drivers and 2009 for lorry drivers the EU directive for compulsory retraining will come into effect. This directive requires 35 hours training every 5 years in order for those drivers to retain their license.

The senior assessor at DBL Training said the following:

“The benefits to companies whose drivers are assessed are numerous. Not only are their drivers safer, but the company reaps the rewards financially too. Many insurance companies will offer discounts, not to mention the savings in repairs!”

The Driving Standards Agency has a register for approved Fleet Driver Trainers. To gain entry to the register drivers need to have undergone a series of strict theoretical and practical tests, or to have attended a stringent approved DSA course.

DBL Training only uses assessors who are on the register.
