Have Your New Year's Resolutions Survived Winter? San Francisco Physical Therapist Provides Tips to Get Health Back on Track

Keeping New Year's Resolutions is difficult, but possible, using a few simple steps and strategies to get your health back on track.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) March 20, 2008

Somewhere between the Super Bowl, Valentine's Day, President's weekend and all the wet, cold weather, most people have already dropped their New Year's resolutions for 2008. You can overcome this by going back and writing down your goals, keeping track of your progress and committing the activities to your schedule.

Whether you want to take better care of your back, take advantage of the snow, or train for a triathlon for the first time this spring, you can. Try this simple plan to get your health-related resolutions back on track.

"Take a moment to write down your physical health goals," says Lowen Cattolico, a physical therapist in San Francisco. "Where do you want to be in the next 6 months or a year? Keep it realistic. Then work backwards."

Cattolico suggests that in order to reach your goals, ask yourself what do you need to do in the next 2-3 months to make them possible? Be specific, and focus on measurable goals that fit with your lifestyle. Then ask what do you need to do in the next 1-2 weeks to get started on your way to improving your physical well-being?

"Writing down the goals and actions you can take makes them real," she says. "Note some ways to measure your progress, like the time or distance walked, number of push-ups, or number of stairs climbed. Commit to your schedule by writing it down in your daily planner or in Outlook."

If you need advice on your current program, trying something new, or just need a word of encouragement your physical therapist, doctor or trainer can help.
