Global Security Intelligence Awarded Contract for ASPIS Project
Global Security Intelligence was awarded a contract under the Eurostars Programme, as part of a three-country consortium, aimed at the development of a secure approach to enable interactivity on IPTV. The two-year project will enable IPTV developers and providers with significant new opportunities and is expected to make viable a broad range of exciting new applications for consumers.

Global Security Intelligence was awarded a contract under the Eurostars Programme, as part of a three-country consortium, aimed at the development of a secure approach to enable interactivity on IPTV. The two-year project will enable IPTV developers and providers with significant new opportunities and is expected to make viable a broad range of exciting new applications for consumers.
ASPIS (A Secure Platform for IPTV Systems) proposes to enable a bi-directional communication approach that overcomes the significant security concerns posed by unsecured data streams inherent in IPTV systems, and with this, serve the needs of stakeholders across the IPTV market. Developers can more effectively translate their vision into a user-friendly, and usable applications, retailers can reach a whole new set of consumers who may not have tied into the online web-based interactive shopping experience, IPTV providers will have new applications and services available to attract subscribers and advertisers alike. Most importantly, for those users who may not today use the Internet in their homes, access to a broad range of parallel services over IPTV may provide new opportunities to connect.
Kush Wadhwa, Managing Director of GSI, stated, "we are really pleased to be working on this project, in part because it will help to drive forward a technology that is still in its nascent period, but also because it provides new options for elderly and disabled citizens who may not be comfortable using traditional PC-based access to the Internet, and thus, are cut off from some of the practical benefits of the web. ASPIS will give us an opportunity to provide a secure platform through which personal health, financial, and other information can be communicated between parties and ultimately improve the ability of the users to gain access to information, services, and products that can improve their quality of life."
The ASPIS project launched with the kickoff meeting on 22 July in Limassol, formally beginning the work of the consortium. As a part of the main project activities, the platform will be vetted by key stakeholders in the IPTV value chain, and the consortium will be piloting the platform and obtaining feedback from focus groups in early 2011, targeting broad market introduction of ASPIS by 2012.
