Children, Incorporated Now Making a Difference in Jordan

Children, Incorporated Now Making a Difference in Jordan

International organization adds 25th country and enrolls 17 children into program.

Richmond, VA (PRWEB) October 19, 2008

Children, Incorporated is supporting children in need in the Kingdom of Jordan and is now one of two major sponsorship agencies working in the Arab country. Through generous sponsors, Children, Incorporated is looking to support 17 poverty-stricken students at the religiously diverse Saviour Episcopal School in Zarqa, Jordan. Eventually, Children, Incorporated hopes to find sponsors for all 200-plus students.

Zarqa is one of the poorest cities in Jordan. Close to 800,000 people make up this industrial center and many of the students' families are immigrants or low-wage factory workers. The school offers a unique opportunity for Children, Incorporated to make a difference as the student body is equally split between Christians and Muslims, a rare situation in this buttoned down area of the Middle East. The Saviour Episcopal administration is committed to religious diversity, creating an environment of inclusion and equality for all students.

The Children, Incorporated program increases the health, wellbeing and education for these children and 17,000 others in 25 countries around the world and in the U. S. By finding sponsors for these initial 17 students, Children, Incorporated is offering the benefits of its program to children living in a region beset by poverty.

The school was founded in 1955 in response to a flood of refugees caused by the Arab-Israeli war of 1948. Saviour Episcopal is a day school that serves kindergarten through seventh grade and provides students with a comprehensive curriculum focused on religious studies, language skills, mathematics, civics, social studies, science, art education and vocational training in computers and technology. The school provides two meals a day and promotes participation in team sports.
