Breakfast remains to be the most important meal of the day, especially if you intend to join an early morning marathon participated by thousands of avid runners of all ages at Fort Bonifacio, Taguig.

Feeding thousands of marathoners for the 3rd Pasig River Heritage Marathon?

To solve that predicament would require either the organizers to stay up all night cooking batches of pancakes and storing them in plastic ware, or a battalion of cooks armed with frying pans and gas stoves, including a lot of cooking oil for shaping up pancakes faster and ridding sticking on to the pan surface. The first option would mean serving cold and bland pancakes—that’s not so appetizing. The latter would seem like watching a food court with long queues of people complainingly waiting to quench their appetite, while the each cook anxiously flips over pancake after pancake, making sure it turns golden brown.

Fortunately, neither scenario was necessary.

With DuPont Philippines supporting the much-awaited event for the second time around, the company provided a giant Teflon®-coated fry pan that made the cooking much quicker—and was just right for the country’s biggest pancake feast. The one-meter wide non-stick pan, coated with ceramic-reinforced Teflon® Select, rose to the task of cooking a quick and healthy pancake breakfast for the hungry marathoners who queued by the thousands.

“We are already fortunate to have supported and participated in this year’s marathon, with caring for the environment being one of the core values of DuPont,” said Ramon Abadilla, DuPont Managing Director. “Having our giant Teflon®-coated fry pan provided some assistance for the chefs in the country’s largest pancake breakfast was indeed a rare but fruitful opportunity for us to be of service to the organizers, beneficiaries, and participants of Pasig River rehabilitation event. This unique giant fry pan is one of only two in existence and has been on tour for different DuPont events in Australia, Indonesia, and Malaysia, with its next scheduled stop in Singapore.”

The 3rd Pasig River Heritage Marathon was organized by the Clean and Green Foundation, Inc. in cooperation with the Fort Bonifacio Development Corporation, among other sponsors. RFM CorporationÂ’s White King Hotcake & Waffle Mixes provided the free food fest for all the participants after the race events.

DuPont Teflon® is listed in the Guinness World Records as the slipperiest material in the world and is usually likened to the surface of wet ice against wet ice. Although best known in cookware, it is also used for apparel, stain protection, personal care, and other industrial applications.

DuPont Philippines has supported this event and other environment-related activities as part of the companyÂ’s ongoing initiatives that address community sustainability in the areas of social progress, economic success, and environmental excellence.
