Koch Materials Company Plant Earns Prestigious OSHA Designation Saginaw asphalt plant is first to achieve Voluntary Protection Program STAR status

OSHA awarded the STAR VPP certification to the asphalt plant after months of in-depth review. The agency evaluated the facilityÂ’s safety and health programs, operations performance and safety record.

SAGINAW, Texas – A Koch Materials Company site here became the first asphalt facility to achieve STAR status, the most prestigious designation under the U. S. Occupational Health and Safety Administration’s Voluntary Protection Program. OSHA officials, as well as Saginaw Mayor Frankie Robbins, officially honored the plant today for its outstanding operational records and safety programs.

“I commend Koch Materials for its outstanding work-place safety record which is a direct result of implementing effective systems which include training and employee involvement,” said John Miles Jr., OSHA regional administrator. “The Saginaw facility is exemplary of systems and employees working together to create a safer workplace.”

OSHA awarded the STAR VPP certification to the asphalt plant after months of in-depth review. The agency evaluated the facilityÂ’s safety and health programs, operations performance and safety record.

“Becoming the first asphalt plant to earn this national recognition is an honor and a testament to our employees’ commitment to safety performance and practices,” said Joe W. Moeller, president and chief operating officer of Koch Industries, Inc., who participated in the ceremony to honor the plant’s employees. Koch Industries is Koch Materials’ parent company.
