Retained executive search firm Trilogy Search Non+Profit has recruited Christopher Shearer as a program officer, Education Program, for The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation (www. hewlett. org). As an Education Program team member, Mr. Shearer will be involved in planning and strategy, grantmaking, and foundation support.
Previously, Mr. Shearer was with the National Geographic Education Foundation for 12 years where he held progressively responsible positions, most recently serving as associate executive director. Before that, he was with the National Health & Education Consortium, Institute for Educational Leadership, and The Pew Charitable Trusts.
Mr. Shearer received his BA and MA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Trilogy previously recruited the Director of the Education Program.
The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, headquartered in Silicon Valley, has been making grants since 1967 to help solve social and environmental problems at home and around the world. Education has been a core interest of the foundation since it began awarding grants in 1967. Today, the Education Program focuses on three key goals: 1) improving education for California students; 2) equalizing opportunities in the United States and throughout the world through open educational resources; and 3) raising educational achievement in disadvantaged communities in the Bay Area.
