Course Technology PTR Takes Gaming to the Extreme With its' Xtreme Game DevelopersÂ’ Xpo

Course Technology PTR has announced that its' Xtreme Game Developers' Xpo will take place at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California, October 9-10, 2004. Speakers include game industry experts David Perry, Bob Rice, Tommy Tallarico, Sim Dietrich and Andre LaMothe.

The XGDX, hosted by Course Technology PTR, a publisher of leading game development books and former Premier Press titles, is a mini game developersÂ’ conference and exposition designed for students, hobbyists, and seasoned professionals alike to gather, interact, and learn about the latest trends in gaming from industry experts. The XGDX starts at 10:00am on Saturday, October 9th and ends with a Closing Raffle at 6:00pm on Sunday, October 10th. A total of 28 sessions will be offered over the course of this two-day event, covering topics from game programming and game art creation to successfully launching a game development studio. In addition, game audio professionals will have the opportunity to have their music heard and critiqued by a panel of game audio experts, including Bob Rice of Four Bars Intertainment and Tommy Tallarico of Tommy Tallarico Studios.

The XGDX will feature keynote talks by Sim Dietrich of NVIDIA and David Perry of Shiny Entertainment, Inc. Dietrich, of NVIDIAÂ’s developer relations group, will be discussing issues for the independent developer on Saturday, October 9th at 11:00am. Perry, a 23-year game industry veteran, will be walking attendees through his minefield of a career in a highly interactive talk on his experiences as a game programmer, Sunday, October 10th at 2:15pm.

Sponsored by the Game Audio Network Guild (G. A.N. G.), Gamedev. net, NVIDIA, and XStation Games, the XGDX is open to the public and targets all levels of game programmers, designers and developers. Registration for this 2-day conference costs $249, and includes all sessions, lunch both days and admittance to the Saturday night reception.
