EC-Council Announces Hacker Halted USA 2010: October 9-15, Miami

Overhauled cybersecurity conference to offer latest hacks on consumer devices, including health care. Aims to be the East Coast equivalent of Defcon.

Albuquerque, NM (PRWEB) June 16, 2010

This year’s Hacker Halted USA will be bigger, better and more extreme than anything yet seen on the East Coast, according to Sanjay Bavisi, president and co-founder of the International Council of E-Commerce Consultants (EC-Council), the information security certification group that created the annual cybersecurity conference and training event.

Hacker Halted USA 2010 will take place October 9th - 15th in Miami, Florida.

The conference will showcase the latest threats and research on cloud computing security, Wi-Fi exploits, social engineering and cyberwar. However, it will also unveil new hacks on a variety of “important consumer products, not just computer systems,” according to Bavisi.

“We are going to push the envelope with this year’s Hacker Halted,” Bavisi said. “As such, we intend to go further than other conferences have in demonstrating the new risks facing important consumer products - particularly in health care.”

“We are not going to let the cat out of the bag just yet,” Bavisi said, “but we plan to unveil several never before seen hacks on electronic devices that will shock consumers and businesses - and hopefully awaken more people to the many new dangers facing our interconnected world.”

Bavisi also announced that the EC-Council plans to keep Hacker Halted USA on the East Coast, “to better meet the needs of the U. S. IT security community.” Now in its second year in Miami, Bavisi said he is intentionally targeting the Latin American community, which he sees as an important emerging market for IT security training and resources.

This year’s Hacker Halted USA will also feature keynotes from the following U. S. experts:
Joe Jarzombek, Director for Software Assurance, National Cyber Security Division, U. S. Department of Homeland Security Christien Rioux, co-founder and chief scientist at Veracode Jerry Davis, Deputy CIO, NASA
