Time Warner Cable Brings the 2010 Shades of Our Community Tour to Columbus, OH

Shades of Our Community Tour comes to Columbus, OH this weekend for the 20th Annual JuneteenthOhio Festival. This tour is a community outreach that will combine Turner’s brands and programming with an array of activities, music, and prizes and giveaways. Attendees have a chance to connect with some of their favorite television programs like Cartoon network’s Total Drama World Tour CNN’s Black in America: Churched, Tyler Perry’s House of Payne and Meet the Browns, TNT’s HawthoRNE. Plus, have a chance to connect with their neighborhood Time Warner Cable.

Cartoon Network, CNN, TBS, and TNT join Time Warner Cable to present the Shades of Our Community tour to Columbus, OH at the 20th Annual JuneteenthOhio Festival, at Franklin Park, on Saturday, June 19, from NOON to 9 PM. This community outreach combines Turner’s brands and programming with music, activities for adults and children, and plenty of giveaways. In addition, Time Warner Cable is donating $1,000 to Kings Arts Complex After School Program to further assist in the needs of the community.

“This event gives us a chance to give back to the community by offering a day of family fun for everyone to enjoy,” said Mark Dunford, Regional Vice President of Operations for Time Warner Cable’s Mid-Ohio Division.

The Shades of Our Community Tour packages some of our top performers into a really fun atmosphere where people of all backgrounds and interests can connect with some of the best programming on TV,” said Gary Brockman, vice president of 360 network marketing and brand operations, Turner Network Sales. “This also gives Time Warner Cable the opportunity to directly connect with our loyal fans.”

Central to all the fun is a dance floor, DJ and emcee to host the festivities as attendees enjoy continuous music, dancing, contests and prizes. Themed activities will feature high-profile Turner properties, including BLACK IN AMERICA: CHURCHED (from CNN), Tyler Perry’s MEET THE BROWNS and Tyler Perry’s HOUSE OF PAYNE (from TBS), HAWTHORNE (from TNT), and Scooby-Doo and TOTAL DRAMA WORLD TOUR (from Cartoon Network).

Cartoon Network’s Total Drama World Tour tent will offer a recording studio for people of all ages to ‘show off their victory dance’ in an animated flipbook. The recordings will be captured and printed on site into a flipbook souvenir. TOTAL DRAMA WORLD TOUR is an animated comedy for kids 6-14 that takes audiences to all the best and most familiar moments of reality TV shows. From the creators of Total Drama Island and Total Drama Action, TOTAL DRAMA WORLD TOUR will premiere on Cartoon Network June 21 at 9 p. m. (ET/PT). Also, from NOON to 5 PM, attendees can meet Scooby-Doo, the lovable star of Cartoon Network’s all-new animated series, Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated.

CNN’s Black in America: Churched tent will feature a family portrait studio offering complimentary photos taken at the event by a professional photographer. Photos will be printed on site and made available online to download and share with family and friends. BLACK IN AMERICA: CHURCHED premieres in mid-October. Anchor and special correspondent Soledad O’Brien reports on faith, activism and community outreach, examining the modern role of the Black Church in the United States in a two-hour event documentary.

TBS’s Tyler Perry’s House of Payne and Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns tent will offer a make-your-own-button booth. Each attendee will wear home a personalized photo button. Both shows reflect Tyler Perry’s gift for delivering inspirational and uplifting-yet-funny stories with identifiable, relatable characters. Wednesdays on TBS, Tyler Perry’s MEET THE BROWNS airs at 8 p. m. and HOUSE OF PAYNE at 10 p. m. Also, giveaways will be distributed to promote ARE WE THERE YET?, the new series from TBS and executive producer Ice Cube. ARE WE THERE YET? premieres on TBS in June.

TNT’s HawthoRNe tent will create the ultimate waiting room experience, with free chair massages given by certified massage therapists, and a “weighting” area offering giveaways and information to educate attendees on weight management and healthy lifestyle choices. The TNT medical drama HAWTHORNE stars Jada Pinkett Smith as a strong but caring director of nursing. HAWTHORNE will launch its second season on Tuesday, June 22 at 9 p. m. (ET/PT).
