As the Boston Celtics become the last team in the NBA to form a dance squad, the team follows in their grand tradition of finding All-Stars in hiring Dance Team Director Marina Ortega. Ortega has the inside track in developing a world-class dance team, having been a star choreographer for ProDance since its beginning.
“Marina Ortega has been a recognizable face as a choreographer at ProDance since its inception 7 years ago”, said Rosalyn Jones, CEO/Founder of ProDance, “She brings a tremendous amount of expertise to the table in regards to professional sports dance. She creates some of the most show-stopping and crowd-appealing choreography I've ever seen and is equally adept at offering diverse ideas that continue to evolve this niche of the dance market. I'm not surprised that the Boston Celtics organization tapped her to become its premier artistic director for their inaugural dance team. She's been a foot soldier working in the trenches of the dance industry for many years, and her experience choreographing for numerous teams has allowed her to refine her craft. She has a gift and is so deserving of the opportunity to develop what will surely be one of the most highly profiled and successful dance teams in the NBA.”
ProDance is a powerhouse, high-profile gathering of choreographers, dancers, and directors representing the NBA, NFL, WNBA, CFL, AFL, and other professional sports teams. These unique athletes and entertainers receive state-of-the-art instruction, enabling them to provide a heightened entertainment package for the upcoming season, which will directly impact their respective franchises. The world's top choreographers teach more than 30 fully choreographed routines, many of which are performed on basketball courts and football fields around the world.
ProDance 2006 will take place July 30 - August 2, 2006 at LaQuinta Resort and Club in the Palm Springs California area. "We are expecting over 500 professional sports dancers from around the US, Canada, and Europe," said Cheryl Lawson, event specialist and coordinator for ProDance. "The making of a pro sports dance team is a complex undertaking, we are very excited that the ProDance annual conference continues to be the resource for professional sports dance teams."
