Martina Navratilova To Cover All Tennis Channel Grand Slams in 2008

Martina Navratilova To Cover All Tennis Channel Grand Slams in 2008

Tennis Channel, the only 24-hour, television-based multimedia destination dedicated to both the professional sport and passionate lifestyle of tennis, has signed tennis legend Martina Navratilova as primary commentator during all Grand Slam tournaments on the network in 2008. The Hall of Famer and winner of more singles titles than any other tennis player in history, male or female, will cover the Australian Open (held Jan. 14-27), the French Open (May 25-June 8) and Wimbledon (June 23-July 6) for the channel.

Santa Monica, CA (PRWEB) January 9, 2008

Tennis Channel, the only 24-hour, television-based multimedia destination dedicated to both the professional sport and passionate lifestyle of tennis, has signed tennis legend Martina Navratilova as primary commentator during all Grand Slam tournaments on the network in 2008. The Hall of Famer and winner of more singles titles than any other tennis player in history, male or female, will cover the Australian Open (held Jan. 14-27), the French Open (May 25-June 8) and Wimbledon (June 23-July 6) for the channel.

In May 2007, Navratilova made her Tennis Channel debut during the channel's groundbreaking French Open coverage.

"We had a wonderful time breaking the mold together during Tennis Channel's inaugural Grand Slam tennis coverage at last year's French Open," said Navratilova. "Our approach is what U. S. television audiences have wanted for so long: round-the-clock coverage and the best action from court to court as it happens. I'm really proud of what we accomplished and to be associated with the advances we're bringing to televised tennis, and I look forward to continuing this relationship for many years to come."

Navratilova's first on-air duties will take place during the 2008 Australian Open Jan. 14-27, when she joins network anchor/producer Bill Macatee -- himself a major component of Tennis Channel's 2007 French Open activity -- as one of two primary commentators. Tennis Channel's first Australian Open telecast takes place prime time, Monday, Jan. 14, at 7 p. m. ET, the beginning of 30 hours of live or first-run match telecasts this year. The network will show a prime-time block of live matches almost every night of the two-week tournament, in addition to special replays of the men's and women's singles semifinals and finals (initially on ESPN2).

Tennis Channel will also offer more than 70 hours of programming dedicated to Australian Open Today, a daily morning show that recaps the day's events as the action is winding down in Melbourne and American East Coast audiences are just facing the day. The six-hour program

Tennis Channel Australian Open Schedule Release

ET every morning of the tournament, leading up to the final weekend, and follows in the footsteps of the network's landmark French Open Tonight, a nightly series that offered the best of the day's tennis, previously unseen matches, and original features that reflected the atmosphere of the prestigious event.

As with the 2007 French Open, Tennis Channel is working in unison with ESPN2 to bring fans virtually round-the-clock coverage during the 2008 Australian Open, with both networks cross-promoting each other's daily telecasts. ESPN2 is producing all Australian Open coverage for both networks, with each channel utilizing its own commentators.

Australian Open On-Air Talent
Joining primary commentators Navratilova and Macatee, Tennis Channel's Australian Open on-air team includes long-standing network announcer and commentator Leif Shiras, the recently retired Justin Gimelstob and current player Renee Stubbs when she is not competing in the tournament. Shiras, Gimelstob and Stubbs will handle sideline and interview duties, announce a number of matches in conjunction with Australian Open Today and appear in feature material.

Great Jones Spa Announces New Acupuncture and Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture Treatments as a Natural Alternative to Plastic Surgery

Great Jones Spa Announces New Acupuncture and Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture Treatments as a Natural Alternative to Plastic Surgery

Luxury holistic spa in downtown New York offers the highly effective “acupuncture facelift” to turn back the clock without surgery, and traditional acupuncture treatments to help restore the body’s natural balance and optimal health.

(PRWEB) February 18, 2005

The premiere Manhattan destination for those seeking total beauty through inner harmony and balance, Great Jones Spa today announced its new acupuncture and Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture treatments.

“We promote holistic health and beauty, so acupuncture was a natural fit”, says Donna Creagh, Great Jones Spa’s director and general manager. “Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture really works and is non-invasive and much safer than surgery.”

Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture, or the “Acupuncture Facelift”, is a safe, effective, and painless way to reduce the signs of aging and restore a more youthful appearance. A truly holistic approach, the “Acupuncture Facelift” improves facial muscle tone, increases collagen production to firm the skin and fill out wrinkles, lifts sagging skin, reduces edema, and can profoundly effect hormone regulation, improving conditions like acne and overly dry, irritated skin. During Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture, fine needles are placed on acupuncture points on the face, head, and body to increase blood flow and stimulate energy conduction to the face, thereby improving muscle tone and skin tension from within. Results are noticeable after the first treatment; however a series of treatments are recommended for longer lasting results. A cold stone facial can also be added on to enhance the “Acupuncture Facelift” experience and sooth any inflammation.

An initial 105-minute consultation with treatment costs $150; 60-minute follow-up treatments are $120, and 90-minute treatments with a Cold Stone Facial are available for $200.

Based on traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture is increasingly accepted by mainstream western medicine as a gentle, painless, and effective treatment to increase overall health, enhance energy, regulate body functions, treat stress, and relieve pain.

Acupuncture can be used to treat everything from low energy, headaches, and chronic pain to depression, infertility, and digestive and weight disorders. Initial 105-minute consultations and treatments cost $150, with 60-minute follow-up treatments available for $130.

All Great Jones Spa acupuncture treatments are delivered by renowned alternative medicine provider Mitchell Wolf. “Mitchell’s acupuncture technique is amazing. Not only do you never feel ‘needled,’ the after affects of even a single session can leave your formerly tired self skipping around like a teenager,” says Marcia Kilgore, founder of Bliss Spa.

As with all spa services, acupuncture treatments include the Great Jones Cure, which the spa promotes to inspire guests to break away from the rush and demands of daily life and take time to re-center themselves. The Great Jones Cure includes full use of Great Jones SpaÂ’s river rock sauna, chakra light steam room, cold plunge pool, hot tub, and wet lounge solarium up to two hours prior to and one hour following spa treatments. However, all steams, saunas, and stimulating activities should be completed at least 1 hour prior to acupuncture treatment.

Family Man Hiking 4,400 Miles Across America in Order to Draw Attention to the Valuable Role Fathers Play in Raising Children

Family Man Hiking 4,400 Miles Across America in Order to Draw Attention to the Valuable Role Fathers Play in Raising Children.

Step-Father of Ten Says Today's Youth Need a Father's Influence More Now Than Ever. He Hopes His Effort Will Get the Attention of Dads All Over America - encouraging them to Become More Involved in Their Children's Lives.

(PRWEB) July 7, 2004

William Bateman, a veteran long distance hiker and the blended family Christian father of ten from south Florida, is preparing to hike a combined 4,400 miles from Cape Gaspe', Canada to Key West, Florida on behalf of fathers and children without fathers.

"For far too long, fathers have been the missing link in mentoring, youth and single-parent issues here in America and it is time for fathers to step forward and take their roles more seriously." claims Mr. Bateman. He goes on to say that, "Today's American dads are misunderstanding the important role they should be playing in their children's lives and are not discerning the difference between being a dad and being a father. They have bought into the lie that it is their responsibility to provide for the family - and though this is part of it, their role is so much more." He also believes firmly that for the most part, mentoring and youth ministry programs are a failure - having supplanted the role fathers naturally held since biblical creation. In fact he says, “These same social and church programs have let the dad off the hook so to speak and allowed them to pursue personal gain ahead of looking out for the best interest of their child and family.”

Mr. Bateman expands his reasoning further by pointing out that any male can become a dad by helping to bring a child into this world. Fathering, on the other hand, involves the day-to-day investment into the very lives of that child - and can provide the very attributes of love a child most desperately seeks - affirmation, gentleness, wisdom, guidance, correction, stability and integrity. He points out that he has talked with countless dads who, at the end of their lives, regretted investing so much of their energies pursuing careers while neglecting their children's spiritual, physical and emotional needs.

When asked what kind of advice he would give a young dad entering into fatherhood for the first time, Mr. Bateman quips, “I remind each of them that fathers do not raise children, fathers raise parents!"

He goes on to point out that today's society paints a skewed picture of dads being fearful, absent-minded and worthless beyond the initial act of procreation. This, he believes has destroyed the very fabric of a healthy family and is creating a whole generation of kids who have a disdain for authority, respect and social responsibility.

By hiking across America, Mr. Bateman hopes to encourage dads to take a more active role as fathers in the lives of their children and not allow things such as careers, separation or divorce stand in the way of their investing in their childÂ’s life.

Greenblock ICF Wall Systems… Building Green in the Pacific Northwest

Greenblock ICF Wall Systems… Building Green in the Pacific Northwest

Insulated Concrete Form wall systems ideal for energy efficient residential and commercial construction.

Portland, OR (PRWEB) August 9, 2008

Greenblock Worldwide Corporation (www. greenblock. com), a leader and pioneer in the insulated concrete form (ICF) industry, has announced that they have begun marketing their ICF products and installation services in the Pacific Northwest. With their roots in Europe, the company has been promoting the use of their ICFs as an energy saving alternative to stick frame and concrete block construction for the last forty years.

"Insulated Concrete Forms are a natural building system for this area," says Dan Smith, Portland OR-based Territory Manager for Greenblock. "Folks up here are extremely concerned about the environment and their impact on it. Homes and buildings built with our ICF wall systems are super energy efficient, clean, quiet and comfortable. I'm looking forward to introducing Greenblock as a sustainable alternative to stick frame and concrete block construction."

Insulated concrete forms are a 'stay-in-place' insulated wall forming system made of three primary components; high R-value expanded polystyrene foam, rigid plastic ties and steel-reinforced poured concrete. The use of ICF's began more than a half century ago and is continuing to gain popularity throughout the construction industry - especially now because of its energy efficient, sustainable attributes.

The bulk of a commercial building's environmental footprint is caused by the energy consumed in the heating and cooling of the structure over its lifetime. The high performance thermal envelope provided by Greenblock ICF construction can offer significant contribution towards reducing the energy consumption needed to control the interior climate of the building. Additionally, the lack of air infiltration and the resistance to moisture through the exterior walls eliminates the growth of mold and pests penetration thus creating a healthy indoor environment that promotes increased employee productivity due to the reduction of sick days.

Projects seeking a green certification from the United States Green Building Council, NAHB or Green Building Initiative, benefit from involving Greenblock ICFs with their project. Greenblock insulated concrete forms are:
Energy Efficient: The expandable polystyrene foam in a Greenblock wall provides a consistent R-24 Thermal Resistance over the life of the product. Coupled with the thermal mass characteristics of concrete, as well as the lack of air infiltration in an ICF wall, the Greenblock system provides a wall comparable to that of an R-50 wood-framed or CMU wall. ICF structures are up to 70% cheaper to heat and 50% cheaper to cool than traditional wood frame or concrete block construction. Sound Resistant: Structures using Greenblock achieve documented levels of STC (Sound Transmission Classifications) 50 (inaudible) or higher. Wood frame and CMU structures are typically rated an average STC 25, meaning people inside of the structure can hear and understand voices outside the structure. Outside noise such as traffic, airplanes, construction and even lawnmowers and leaf blowers are greatly reduced, making the structure a quiet, peaceful sanctuary. Strong and Safe: Greenblock structures are much stronger than traditional building methods and materials. They provide exceptional protection from severe forces of nature, such as hurricanes and tornados. Greenblock foundation walls resist cracking and buckling up to five times better than concrete block walls. Greenblock walls are built with steel-reinforced concrete and fire-resisting expanded polystyrene foam, and they have a 2 to 4 hour fire rating depending on which product is used. ICF structures also improve indoor air quality by eliminating the holes and crevices that can trap moisture and foster mold and mildew growth. Environmentally Friendly: The decision to construct with Greenblock ICFs is an environmentally responsible choice. Buildings constructed with ICFs significantly reduce the negative impact on the environment through sustainable site-planning, energy-efficiency, lower HVAC requirements and improved indoor air quality.(Builders can earn up to 20 LEED points). Greenblock ICFs are non-toxic; using no CFCs, HCFCs or formaldehydes, the absence of "off-gassing" eliminates the possibility of air pollution or ozone depletion. Greenblock is dedicated to providing green building solutions to builders and developers throughout the Pacific Northwest. On a national level, Greenblock is a member the USGBC and NAHB. On a local/regional level, Greenblock Territory Manager Dan Smith is a member of several Home Builder Associations including Portland, Seattle, Eugene and Bend as well as the Clark County/Vancouver Building Industry Association. He also sits on Green Building Committees in Seattle, Portland and Bend. Greenblock will be exhibiting at the Seattle Builders Show, October 1 and 2, held at the Seattle Convention Center. They will also be featured at the Clark County Parade of Homes in Vancouver running August 22nd through September 7.

About Greenblock, Inc.:
Greenblock's (www. greenblock. com) roots originated in Europe over 30 years ago and moved to the United States and Canada in the late 1980's. With several integral modifications from the time of its inception, today's Greenblock continues to be the superior choice for high efficiency wall systems, noted for outstanding design and ease of use. Over the years, a significant number of structures have been built with Greenblock. Projects that range from stem walls, basements, single and multi-story residences, apartments, condominiums, schools, hospitals, towers and even swimming pools. Government agencies and utility companies are now recognizing the superior features of insulated form-built structures and are beginning to recommend its use for environmental and energy conservation benefits.
