AQUA-Block BB Stops Leaks in Basements Made of Blocks, Bricks or Fieldstone

Aquaseal USA Inc. has just added another innovative product to its Aqua-Stop line of waterproofing for leaking basements. AQUA-Block BB is a user friendly, ‘do it yourself’ product that will allow the homeowner to fix a leaking basement from the inside without the need for costly construction work or excavating around the outside perimeter of the house. Incorporating the latest European waterproofing technology, AQUA-Block BB is a commercial grade of product that can withstand 100 psi of negative or positive hydrostatic pressure, which is equivalent to 200 feet deep in the ground.
A common problem with many new and older homes is damp or wet basements, especially in basements constructed with cement or cinder blocks. A recent study of new home construction revealed that almost 40% of new homes built in the U. S. develop problems with leaking basements, leading to mold and mildew growth, and the resulting health and liability issues. Homeowners faced with this problem usually have two choices – one is to have a contractor dig up around the outside of the house and re-waterproof the foundation which means landscaping, decks, patios, etc. have to be removed and then replaced. The second choice is equally invasive and expensive and involves a contractor digging up the perimeter of the interior basement and installing a weeping tile system. This does not stop the water entering the basement, but instead, gives it somewhere to drain to and in homes with a finished basement means that the floors and walls have to be refinished once the work is completed.
Like Aqua-Stop for concrete foundations, AQUA-Block BB is an economical and easy method to permanently stop water coming through the basement walls. AQUA-Block BB comes in powder form and is mixed with tap water and then applied to wet concrete basement walls or floor with the brush provided in the kit. The product forms a very strong bond with the surface that can withstand 100 psi of hydrostatic pressure, and a residential foundation would be well below the tested limits of this product. It is safe and easy for the homeowner to apply, and contains no fumes or toxic chemicals. Two coats are recommended and the product leaves a clean, white matte finish on the walls that can be painted or tiled over as the homeowner desires.
