Ulla Bak & J. P. Folsgaard Bak a Danish couple, the founders of technology company EMX Corporation, were awarded a recognition from the California State Assembly, in a ceremony timed to coincide with the launch of their new line of electromagnetically-safe cell phones. The award was sponsored by assemblyman Tim Leslie of the 4th assembly district, and honors their commitment to benefiting mankind through the research and remedy of harmful radiation in consumer electronic devices.

The phones, produced by EMX in partnership with German electronics manufacturer G-Hanz, contain the patented EMX biochip, designed to eliminate the harmful potential of radiation emitted by a cell phone. While the use of cell phone and other wireless technology is expected to increase, and eventually eclipse that of landlines globally by 2008, the effect of electromagnetic radiation emitted by the devices has been poorly studied and is only partially understood. A litany of health complaints has been reported in connection with cell phone use, and the continued use of such devices has been connected to higher occurrence of migraine headaches, loss of concentration, fatigue, blood clots, and brain tumors.

EMX Corporation has worked to research, publicize, and remedy the dangers in these devices, bringing awareness of the issue to citizens and offering a solution in the form of its EMX chip products, which mask the harmful radiation emitted and render it harmless to human cells. The company is also developing its technology for a wide variety of consumer applications where electromagnetic fields are a threat, including hairdryers, electric blankets, and heating pads.

This technology, when firmly in place, is expected to increase the standard of health and mitigate radiation hazards faced by Californians, and other technology users worldwide. their efforts in researching and publicizing this issue, and their dedication to developing safe alternatives including special safe phones for children, J. P. and Ulla Bak have also been awarded the Outstanding Achievement in Youth Technology award from United Nations-affiliated organization Youth for Human Rights International.
