Pima Medical Institute Honored At Starfish Awards

Chula Vista, CA (PRWEB) July 10, 2004

Sweetwater Union High School District, the largest 9th – 12th grade school district in the state of California, recently honored Pima Medical Institute, 780 Bay Blvd, Suite 101 in Chula Vista at their recent Starfish Awards dinner for PMI’s efforts to provide high school students with easy access to information about multiple career options in the healthcare profession.

The award, presented by Project E. N.C. O.R. E (Education Network for Career Outreach Recruitment and Enhancement) recognizes School-to-Career options for over 1200 students graduating from Sweetwater schools every year. PMIÂ’s Chula Vista campus has programs for Dental Assistants, Medical Assistants, Medical Secretaries, Pharmacy Technicians, Radiographers, Respiratory Therapists and Veterinary Assistants. PMI offers career-training programs that range from 20-weeks to Associate of Occupation Science degrees that take approximately two years.

“Most of the fastest-growing jobs in the U. S. require some sort of higher education after high school,” said Sue Kirtland, PMI’s Campus Director in Chula Vista. “However, attending a four-year bachelor’s degree is not an option for many men and women. At PMI we offer short-term programs for positions that are current and in demand.”

PMI is one of the premier medical vocational institutes in the western United States. The privately owned, accredited school provides students with a well-rounded education embracing theoretical classroom studies, as well as on-site training at medical facilities that mirror the working environment they will pursue after graduation.

PMI has been serving students since 1972, with campuses in: Albuquerque, New Mexico; Mesa and Tucson, AZ; Denver and Colorado Springs, CO; Seattle, WA; Las Vegas, NV, as well as their Chula Vista location near San Diego in Southern California.
