Fort Erie, Ontario, (PRWEB) December 22, 2004

A series of new flu shot clinics will be held in Fort Erie, Ontario exclusively for residents of Western New York and the surrounding counties. Ontario based MediTours in co-operation with ParaMed Home Health Care are offering 5 clinics during the first week of January 2005 at the Holiday Inn Fort Erie/Niagara Convention Center at 1485 Garrison Road in Fort Erie, Ontario. The clinic is a one-minute drive from the Peace Bridge. The clinics are being offered as a result of the flu vaccine shortage in the U. S. The 5 clinics will provide over 2500 flu shots.

Western New Yorkers of all ages and risk categories may pre-register online at www. meditours. ca/flushot (http://www. meditours. ca/flushot). The website also provides more information about clinic dates, times and locations. The cost per shot is $40 (USD) and may be paid in advance online or at the clinic. Registrants who choose to pay in advance online will receive an exact appointment time and avoid waiting in long lineups. Those choosing to pay at the clinic will be served on a first come first served basis and will be required to wait in line to receive their flu shot.

Clinics will be held on the following dates:

January 4, 2005 – 6pm-10pm – Holiday Inn Fort Erie/Niagara Convention Center January 5, 2005 – 6pm-10pm – Holiday Inn Fort Erie/Niagara Convention Center January 6, 2005 – 6pm-10pm – Holiday Inn Fort Erie/Niagara Convention Center January 8, 2005 – 9am-4pm – Holiday Inn Fort Erie/Niagara Convention Center January 9, 2005 – 9am-4pm – Holiday Inn Fort Erie/Niagara Convention Center

MediTours planned the clinics when Canadian flu vaccine manufacturer ID Biomedical announced in early December that it would not be selling its 1.2 million doses of surplus flu vaccine to the U. S government but instead would retain the surplus to be sold to the Canadian government and other private Canadian facilities. MediTours is accessing this surplus for the exclusive purpose of vaccinating residents of Western New York who have still not received their flu shot.
