The 7th Annual CT Xpo for Business offers an array of new features this year, providing networking and educational opportunities for area business executives. The Xpo will take place Thursday, June 7, 2007 at the Connecticut Convention Center from 7:00 a. m. to 7:00 p. m.
"Xpo is currently supported by most of the leading trade associations and we are working with business organizations statewide to build a show that truly represents the business community of all of Connecticut," said Marc Sherer, whose company, Event Management, is producing the show.
New to the Xpo this year is the "Instant Assessment Bullpen" made up of over 20 City, State and Federal Agencies with programs and incentives for small businesses start-ups in Connecticut. The Comcast Internet Café will take place on the show floor allowing attendees the opportunity to receive free one-on-one advice from IT experts from the CT Technology Council. Attendees can learn how to get valuable City, State, Federal and large corporate contracts right from their purchasing agents as part of the on-site "Business Matchmaker" program.
Bill Taylor, co-founder of Fast Company magazine and author of several books including "Mavericks at Work," will be the featured speaker at the annual "Business Champions Awards Breakfast" presented by the MetroHartford Alliance and The Hartford Business Journal. The Business Champions (those businesses who have experienced year after year revenue and job growth) will be recognized at the Business Champions Awards Breakfast. The networking luncheon will focus on financing opportunities for small and mid-sized businesses with special guest Rob Simmons, Business Advocate Designee and former U. S. Congressman 2nd District.
For the remainder of the day, attendees are invited to tour exhibitor booths and participate in their choice of ten educational seminars covering sales, marketing and advertising, business management, technology and more. Admission is free to the Exhibit Hall, seminars and networking function. There are nominal costs for the breakfast and luncheon.
Several non-profit groups will be exhibiting at the Xpo as well. These organizations include the Connecticut Association of Non-Profits, Hartford Marathon Foundation, Because We Care, Connecticut Breast Health Initiative, House of Bread, Salvation Army, and many more.
"The non-profit sector makes up such a large segment of Connecticut's economy," Sherer said. "We made sure that we provided booths to those organizations that wanted to attend but could not have otherwise afforded the fee."
