NFL Players Endorse New Customized Vitamins at Health Supplement Site

NFL Players Endorse New Customized Vitamins at Health Supplement Site

Nutritional products popular among a number of NFL players (including David Diehl of the NY Giants and the Cleveland Browns Eric Steinbach) inspire the launch of PureCoreNutrition. com, a new Web site featuring customized vitamin packs. These "Convenient Packs" are high potency single-serving multi vitamin packs customized to address the health conditions of the purchaser.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) July 29, 2008

PureCoreNutrition. com, a supplier of high quality nutritional supplements, announces the launch of its online e-commerce Web site. Founder, Dr. Dominic Lascola, a well known and highly respected healthcare provider in the south Chicago land area, has created his own personalized line of dietary products that have become popular with top athletes and NFL players.

The newly released product line features the "Convenient Pack," 30 high potency single-serving multi vitamin packs customized to address a range of nutritional needs associated with specific health conditions. Proving popular with Dr. Lascola's patients -- some of whom are pro athletes -- it has also become the inspiration for his new daily multi-pack brand entitled, Pure Core Nutrition.

"The daily multi pack contains 3 whole food multi vitamins, 2 Omega-3 fish oils, 1 probiotic blend, and 1 digestive enzyme is what I take with food every morning," said Dr. Lascola. "I recommend this formula for all who want to build a foundation for optimal health."

Dr. Lascola's inspiration for the Convenient Packs and his other products developed when putting together a nutritional plan for Eric Steinbach of the Cleveland Browns. During an office visit Eric explained his busy schedule between the gym and practice field.

"I knew the best way to address his nutritional needs was to make his supplement intake as convenient and effective as possible," said Dr. Lascola. "By using our convenient packs it eliminated the need for Eric to carry around a large numbers of bottles. Pure Core Nutrition's Convenient Packs, Protein Plus, Training Fuel and several other products have become a daily part of Eric's routine and are popular among many athletes."

Lascola is no newcomer to the world of nutrition. Being an active athlete himself who trains rigorously, he knows the importance of using high-grade natural supplements to replenish the nutrients lost during intense workouts. He has created several products to address these concerns. He also treats his patients with his natural remedies and has had many positive results.

"I had a patient come to me who had severe problems with constipation for many years. He had tried everything with no success. Every doctor he would visit would tell him to take more fiber but it never worked. I knew that being magnesium deficient was a major cause of constipation so I regulated the amount of magnesium he needed and he has not had problems since. His troubles with constipation ended after more than 40 years of suffering just by taking the right amount of magnesium every day. I wrote an article about this subject that you can find on my Web site."

Dr. Lascola calls his supplements "Physician Grade" those which are sold by licensed healthcare professionals, which exceed the market standards in quality and effectiveness. All Pure Core Nutrition's products are scientifically formulated, tested, for purity, potency and bioavailability. They are developed in an ISO 9000 licensed manufacturing facilities registered with the FDA as drug manufacturing establishments that strictly adhere to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP's).

"Unlike many medications there are no adverse side effects with my supplements," he adds.

Dr. Lascola plans to continue to add new products to his already impressive line. He is currently working on some new sports nutrition items and is also in the process of creating a weight loss Convenient Pack, including a weight management program pack that assists in weight control when used in conjunction with a sensible diet and exercise program.

Internationally syndicated family/health columnist, and CEO, Jodie Lynn, signs on as National Spokesperson for Stacey Kannenberg Unlimited.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) March 1, 2006

Stacey Kannenberg Unlimited, an imprint of Cedar Valley Publishing, appoints Jodie Lynn as National Spokesperson.

Stacey Kannenberg took her dream of helping moms publish their books one-step farther in forming a new company in which the author would own all copyrights while she and her team help to guide and support them. Inspired by Oprah to make a difference, Kannenberg saw a need for better guidelines on children getting ready for kindergarten and published her first book, “Let’s Get Ready for Kindergarten” which has been featured in various magazines, newspapers and on national TV shows.

Kannenberg says, “After the success of my first book, my goal was to extend a helping hand to others who wanted to publish a book without all of the red tape and headaches they might normally sustain. In looking for ways to assist others, I created a new company, Stacey Kannenberg Unlimited, which was the best way I could extend my publishing knowledge in helping those who wanted to bring their manuscripts to life. However, I also needed someone to facilitate and expand my outreach to the public. That‘s when I decided to look for a national spokesperson, and who better than someone who is working with us on two incredible books, ‘Syndication Secrets - What No One Will Tell You!’ and ‘Mom CEO (Chief Everything Officer) TM - Having, Doing, and Surviving It All!’ -- and knows the ropes, than Jodie Lynn.”

"After talking with Lynn and reading some of her articles, columns, books and listening to her radio segments, I knew she was a perfect fit. Everywhere you look pertaining to family and women’s issues, she's there, and we are very excited she agreed to come on board," says Kannenberg. "She is perfect for our company as she brings experience and expertise to enhance the vision we have for this endeavor."

Lynn says, "I'm impressed not only with Stacey Kannenberg, but with her resources and innovative ideas. Filling a niche in today’s publishing world is courageous and greatly admired by all…I am thrilled with this opportunity. “

About Stacey Kannenberg:

Stacey Kannenberg is an award-winning author. Her first book, “Let’s Get Ready for Kindergarten” has been a hot topic among morning TV talk show hosts, newspapers and radio and has garnished several awards. Her next book, “Let’s Get Ready for First Grade!” will be out in early March 2006 and has already won the Parent to Parent Adding Wisdom Award. It can be pre-ordered at www. CedarValleyPublishing. com. She and her family live in Fredonia, WI.

About Jodie Lynn:

Jodie Lynn lives in St. Louis, MO with her family and is the CEO (Chief Everything Officer) TM of ParentToParent. com (http://www. ParentToParent. com (http://www. 4imprint Donates $46,000 In-kind to Charities in Third Quarter

Promotional products retailer 4imprint multiplied the momentum of its one by one® charitable giving program in the third quarter, awarding a total of $46,000 in in-kind grants to 92 U. S. and Canadian charities.

OSHKOSH, Wis. (PRWEB) November 11, 2008

Through one by one®, the Oshkosh, Wis.-based company awards $500 in imprinted products each business day to eligible non-profit organizations. The organizations use these promotional products to build awareness, raise money, thank volunteers or provide for those in need, effectively multiplying their impact far beyond their $500 value.

A downturn in the economy makes these grants all the more important.

"We know that non-profit organizations feel the pinch when times get tough. Demand for services may rise while donations may fall off," said Kevin Lyons-Tarr, 4imprint president. "We hope these in-kind grants help ease that strain so these wonderful organizations can continue do the critical work they do."

HITEYE. com Launches Online Web Tool to Cut Wasted Marketing Spending

HITEYE. com Launches Online Web Tool to Cut Wasted Marketing Spending

UK based company HITEYE. com has launched a timely service to help small to medium enterprises (SMEs) understand which of their online marketing strategies are producing the required results.

(PRWEB) October 23, 2006

The HITEYE. com Analysis Tool tracks website traffic through from first click to point of sale, therefore providing accurate measurement of online investment returns, HITEYE. com provides the tools and techniques to be able to assess the efficiency of any type of online marketing. These include pay per click (PCC), cost per click (CPC), search engine sponsored links, natural rankings, banner advertisements, comparison sites and email marketing campaigns.

All the analysis is performed in ‘real time’ so businesses can manage their advertising from day to day and compare their own web presence with that of competitors. HITEYE. com also offers a website health monitoring feature, which alerts the client via SMS and email if the site goes down, and a rewarding affiliate/reseller scheme.

The team behind HITEYE. com conducted research that highlighted a gap in the market for high-spec web analysis packages, particularly for small and medium sized companies. Any size of business can benefit from the service which costs from just £25 GBP per month with no tie in periods.

HITEYE. com is also offering a compelling package for affiliate or resellers and is an ideal add-on product for most Internet Companies / Website Design Agencies

Increasing year on year by 65.6%, the UK investment in online marketing and advertising rocketed to £1.4 billion in 2005 *¹ and the need for companies to quantify returns and accurately target clients is mushrooming in line with this trend.

Jon Kelly, Sales and Marketing Director, says: “Online marketing is the most powerful way to reach a target market audience, but companies throw thousands of pounds at every means available without being able to track what is working and what is not.”

He adds: “The primary aim of HITEYE. com is to enable SMEs with online exposure to qualify and quantify marketing spend, so that they can minimize their spend and maximize their profits.”

HITEYE. com launched its analytical product at ADTECH 2006, London, immediately attracting many subscribers looking to increase sales and cut advertising costs.

HITEYE. com is currently offering a free 30 day trial. Customers can subscribe to the service by visiting http://www. HITEYE. com (http://www. HITEYE. com).

How Green is your Building?

How Green is your Building?

Over twenty new building developments across the UK are to be subjected to a detailed and intensive assessment of their environmental impact in the first phase of a four year programme that will help to deliver more energy efficient, better performing buildings.

(PRWeb UK) December 18, 2010

Over twenty new building developments across the UK are to be subjected to a detailed and intensive assessment of their environmental impact in the first phase of a four year programme that will help to deliver more energy efficient, better performing buildings.

The government-backed Technology Strategy Board is to fund the cost of seventeen intensive building performance evaluation studies covering a total of nine domestic developments and thirteen non-domestic buildings, following funding awards in the first phase of an £8 million open competition. Expert evaluators will help the successful applicants to determine how the buildings perform and why.

The in-depth study of the initial case study buildings – and many other buildings that will be evaluated over the next four years – will enable the construction industry as a whole to better understand the performance of different building types, design strategies, construction methods and occupancy patterns, and the relative contribution of various factors to the eventual performance of the buildings.

Richard Miller, the Technology Strategy Board’s Head of Sustainability, said:

“The government has set the challenging target of an 80% reduction in carbon dioxide emissions in the UK by 2050. With 45% of the UK’s CO2 emissions coming from buildings, we need to stimulate innovation towards achieving these goals. A key challenge is to ensure that building designs lead to physical buildings that perform as intended.”

There is typically a significant discrepancy between the predicted energy performance of a building, and hence its CO2 emissions, and actual performance. The energy requirement of a building can easily be twice that predicted, and often between four and seven times when taking into account the energy used as a result of the activities undertaken in the building. These discrepancies arise from a variety of sources, ranging from the initial design and modelling tools used, the build process and build quality, systems integration and commissioning, handover & operation through to the understanding, comfort and motivation of occupants. The studies to be carried out will look at these issues, highlighting areas for improvement and innovation, and increasing understanding.

Stephen Stone, Chief Executive of Crest Nicholson, said:
“It is becoming increasingly important to develop homes that are sustainable in use, as well as design, and a better understanding of actual energy performance against design intention will play a vital role in helping us to improve the design, construction and delivery across all of our future sites. The knowledge gained from this study will deliver vital learning and developmental improvements that will be of benefit to the entire industry.”

Judit Kimpian, Aedas Head of Sustainability and Advanced Modelling, said:
"We are delighted to be able to conduct this detailed building performance evaluation of five Aedas-designed buildings. Growing our understanding of the way in which occupants interact with our buildings is the very essence of our design approach."

Mr Peter Phelps, Energy and Environment Manager at the University of Bath’s Department of Estates, added:
"This evaluation will educate our current and future plans, as will provide vital research in a key area for achieving the UK's challenging carbon reduction targets.

Tim Cutting of ECOS Homes, said:
“ECOS homes are delighted to have been selected to take part in the Building Performance Evaluation project, which we feel is helping to overcome significant barriers that face developers who want to undertake performance monitoring of the buildings they construct.”

The Building Performance Evaluation competition for funding runs for two years with tranches of funding being made available at three-monthly intervals. The deadline for the next round of funding applications, for both domestic and non-domestic buildings, is 12 January 2011.
Ends

Notes to Editors

1. The Technology Strategy Board is a business-led executive non-departmental public body, established by the government. Its role is to promote and support research into, and development and exploitation of, technology and innovation for the benefit of UK business, in order to increase economic growth and improve the quality of life. It is sponsored by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS). For more information please visit http://www. innovateuk. org.

2. For background information about the Building Performance Evaluation competition for funding please visit: http://www. innovateuk. org/content/competition/building-performance-evaluation-.ashx

3. The first seventeen projects are led by the following organisations (location of projects in brackets):

(a) Domestic buildings: Crest Nicholson plc (South East); Homes and Communities Agency (South West); Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust (Humber); Gentoo Homes (North East); ECOS Homes (South West); A2Dominion Group (London); BioRegional Quintain Ltd (South East); Buro Happold (East of England); Steel Construction Institute (London).
(b) Non-domestic buildings: Aedas Architects – 2 studies (East of England, London, North West & North East); Architype Ltd (London); The University of Bath (South West); Penoyre & Prasad LLP (South East); Bovis Lend Lease (North West); Huntingdonshire District Council (East of England); Richard Partington Architects (South East);

4. Examples of some of the projects to be funded:

(a) Domestic buildings

The Avante site, in Maidstone, has been developed by Crest Nicholson using the principles of high quality, energy efficient and design led construction. All 150 homes feature mechanical ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR) systems, which provide a constant background flow of fresh air and extract condensation to result in lower humidity, a healthier environment and lower energy bills. However MVHR is still a relatively new technology and one of the many benefits of the study will lie in a better understanding of the relationship between design, installation and commissioning of these systems. Equally the results of the study will provide valuable insight into user understanding, response and well-being.

Ecos Homes builds award winning sustainable housing in the South West. Developments use an advanced approach to design, materials, systems and planning, which demonstrates that building sustainably is commercially viable. Evaluating the design and construction of these houses, which are essentially prototypes, provides vital information for the design and construction teams for future projects and for the occupants to help them fine tune their houses and get the best performance from them. Additionally the evaluation process itself, which is in an early stage of development, can be advanced and refined to enable it to become a useful and affordable tool for the house building industry as a whole.

(b) Non-domestic buildings

The Bath Campus project (University of Bath) is a detailed post-occupancy investigation in to the environmental performance of two recent additions to the University of Bath campus. The buildings have a combined floor area of 16,000 square metres and cost £40 million to complete. Building 4-West provides mostly office and teaching accommodation across multiple floor levels. Construction of 4-West was complex as it involved the demolition of a 1960s CLASP building at the very heart of the campus. The second building being studied is Woodland Court, a 355-bed student residence located at the easternmost edge of the campus. The accommodation is arranged over four floors and, in common with building 4-West, achieved a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating.

Aedas will be carrying out detailed building performance evaluation of five buildings - The Petchey Academy, Stockport Academy, Academy 360, Loxford School of Science and Technology and Brine Leas Sixth Form. Aedas R&D Group, who will be leading the research team, initiated Aedas’ drive for gathering evidence of the performance of their designs in practice and has been working with Aedas design teams to gather and analyse data in order to disseminate lessons learned across the practice. The detailed evaluation of the above five buildings will be developed hand in hand with other Aedas research projects such as CarbonBuzz, which helps the construction industry bridge the gaps between design vs actual operation, and Harris Academy – Purley, where they are looking into design and guidance for future climate adaptation solutions.

Crawley Library (Penoyre & Prasad LLP) creates a major new civic building and destination for the community designed to be a landmark for Crawley town centre. It provides a range of county council services including a central library, register office and administrative & social services accommodation. Arranged around a bright and welcoming central atrium, the project successfully culminates the requirements and budgets of a variety of stakeholders to create a timeless, yet contemporary civic building. From the outset the design was developed ollowing best practice sustainability principles to achieve very low carbon emissions. The Building Performance Evaluation programme provides the opportunity to review the success of this environmental strategy in practice.

5. Additional quotes:

Noam Riaz, Associate, Penoyre & Prasad LLP: “We are delighted to have been selected to carry out this evaluation for Crawley Library. Post occupancy building performance evaluation will inform not only our future designs but also our knowledge and understanding of buildings in use and user behaviour. Studies like these are also immensely valuable for our clients helping them manage the building more cost effectively.”

Allan Thompson, Deputy Director of Gentoo Homes: "There is a great deal of debate at the moment about the design theory versus what actually happens in reality, both on new build and retrofit works, and so not only is this a chance to review the accuracy of the rigorous German design standard within a UK environment but also to use the lessons learnt to further improve our approach to sustainable housing moving forward."

Want Beautiful Skincare? Getting Sleep Can Add Benefits to Your Skin Care Regime

Want Beautiful Skincare? Getting Sleep Can Add Benefits to Your Skin Care Regime

Skincare News reports on the positive skincare benefits that come with a good night's sleep.

Sacramento, CA (PRWEB) May 4, 2007

Skincare needs help beyond the creams and lotions. That is what Skincare-New's latest article " Want Beautiful Skin? Get Some Sleep! " is all about. http://www. skincare-news. com/articles. php? ArtID=302 (http://www. skincare-news. com/articles. php? ArtID=302)

The term "beauty sleep" isn't a myth but rather really is a helpful boost for your skin's health!

Two simple words: "Beauty Sleep!" In order to have beauty, you need sleep and if you're getting sleep, chances are you've got the beauty part down. "Beauty Sleep," is the polar opposite of an oxymoron. Sleep deprivation equals ugly, dehydrated, old looking skin. Plenty of sleep equals hydrated, cell renewed (a sleep function), luminous, younger looking skin.

People substitute skincare products in scenarios where all they really need is a little rest: Think about how often we try and spackle up with creams and makeup when we have a late night. Let's face it; we know we look like crap when we get little or no sleep. Our skin looks wrinkled and dehydrated and our eyes look puffy and swollen. Sleep is one of those basic beauty treatments that nature has blessed us with...so let's start taking advantage of it.

If the rest of your lifestyle isn't healthy, then you may find you struggle with getting a good night's sleep: Exercise, eating right, and self-discipline are key when it comes to getting enough sleep.

According to the Skincare News Team's sources, sleeping regularly can help you to look younger longer and more vibrant each and every day.

Treating Sleep Disorders May Help Psychological Problems, Reports the Harvard Mental Health Letter

Chronic sleep problems affect 50% to 80% of the patients in a typical psychiatric practice, compared with 10% to 18% of adults in the general population. Doctors have traditionally viewed insomnia and other sleep disorders as symptoms of depression and other mental health problems. But recent studies suggest that sleep problems may raise risk for, and even contribute to, the development of some psychiatric disorders. That means treating a sleep disorder may also reduce symptoms of a mental health problem, reports the July 2009 issue of the Harvard Mental Health Letter.

The type of sleep disorder and its impact on mental health vary by psychiatric diagnosis. But the overlap between sleep and psychiatric disorders is so great that researchers have long suspected both types of problems may have common biological roots. Dr. Michael Miller, editor in chief of the Harvard Mental Health Letter, notes that sleep disruption affects levels of neurotransmitters and stress hormones, many of which are implicated in depression and other psychiatric disorders. In addition to impairing thinking and emotional regulation, insomnia may amplify the effects of psychiatric disorders, and vice versa.

Depression: An estimated 65% to 90% of adults with major depression experience some kind of sleep problem. Sleep problems also increase the risk for developing depression.

Bipolar disorder: During a manic episode, 70% or more of individuals experience insomnia or report less need for sleep. Studies suggest that insomnia and other sleep problems worsen before an episode of mania.

Anxiety disorders: Sleep problems affect more than half of individuals with generalized anxiety disorder. Insomnia may also be a risk factor for developing an anxiety disorder, and can worsen symptoms or prevent recovery.

Birmingham, Alabama Plastic Surgeon Discusses the Importance of Selecting a Physician with Board-Certification

Birmingham, Alabama Plastic Surgeon Discusses the Importance of Selecting a Physician with Board-Certification

Dr. Grady Core, a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon performing breast augmentation in Birmingham and other procedures at his state-of-the-art practice, is stressing the importance of selecting a plastic surgeon with the proper qualifications before considering aesthetic enhancement.

Birmingham, AL (Vocus) January 22, 2010

Grady Core, M. D., a plastic surgeon in Birmingham, advises patients to only receive treatment from Board-Certified Plastic Surgeons who have the necessary training and experience to perform surgical and non-surgical procedures safely and effectively. He says the reason for this is simple: a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon, one who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, has undergone a rigorous application process to demonstrate his/her proficiency in the field. The applicant is required to have graduated from an accredited medical school and completed at least five years of additional training as a resident surgeon through an accredited program. At least two of those years must be devoted entirely to Plastic Surgery. The applicant must then complete comprehensive written and oral exams to earn his/her board certification.

At his Birmingham plastic surgery practice, Dr. Core says he has seen firsthand the reflection of an age when Cosmetic and Plastic Surgery procedures are experiencing extraordinary popularity. Dr. Core states it is now more important than ever to make sure the physician is certified to administer the treatment. Since 1997, when the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery began tracking the number of surgical and non-surgical procedures performed each year, the popularity of Cosmetic procedures has increased by a staggering 457%. In 2007 alone, approximately 11.7 million Cosmetic procedures were performed in the United States. Although the American Society of Plastic Surgeons reported that many of its member surgeons began to experience a decrease in demand for surgical procedures during the economic slowdown in 2008, almost 3 out of 4 surgeons cited an increased or stable demand for non-surgical procedures. Whether they are interested in surgical procedures such as breast augmentation or non-surgical treatments such as BOTOX® injections or Cosmetic fillers, many women say that the economy has had an impact on their plastic surgery plans. In a survey conducted by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons of women who are considering Cosmetic surgery, 27% percent indicated that they were now considering less expensive options.

A recent Marie Claire article discusses how some patients are turning to unqualified doctors, nurses, medical assistants, and other individuals to perform surgical and non-surgical procedures. Although unqualified providers may charge a fraction of what legitimate Board-Certified Plastic Surgeons charge, their lack of training and credentials can sometimes result in tragic consequences for the women who choose them. Gretchen Voss, the author of the Marie Claire article, reports how doctors don’t have to be certified in Plastic Surgery in order to practice it, and how many gynecologists, pediatricians, and even dentists are now offering Cosmetic procedures that they are simply not qualified to perform. In some extreme cases, Voss reports that individuals rent out nice offices, put up fake diplomas on the wall, and pose as doctors – even though they may have little to no medical training at all. Many patients who receive treatment from unqualified doctors have to go to official Board-Certified Plastic Surgeons to reverse what can result in devastating outcomes from their initial procedures.

Dr. Core is Board-Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is renowned for his contributions in the field. He performs surgical procedures including breast augmentation and liposuction liposuction in Birmingham as well as non-surgical treatments such as Juvederm®, Restylane®, and BOTOX® Cosmetic. Dr. Core performs several advanced endoscopic techniques, such as facelift in Birmingham, that he is known to have helped develop and are being used by Board Certified Plastic Surgeons around the country. He says one of the primary concerns for those who are considering any type of Cosmetic Surgery or minimally invasive aesthetic enhancement, should be doing thorough research to choose a professional who is qualified to administer treatment. Dr. Core says patients should never be afraid to ask questions and to make sure they are answered directly.

About Dr. Grady Core
Dr. Grady Core is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and the American Association of Plastic Surgeons. Orlando, FL (PRWEB) September 19, 2009

Jonathan Jordan, a popular business coach and member of the prestigious Society for Neuroscience, has been chosen to deliver an address at the Athletic Business Conference & Expo being held in Orlando Dec. 3-5. This is the nation's premier event for businesses and organizations involved in all aspects of the athletics industry and is expected to draw thousands of attendees from around the country, and overseas.

The title of Jordan's address to the conference is, "Change Your Mind, Change Your Business: How to Train Your Brain for Optimal Success." Jordan explains, "Athletic businesses focus on training people to be physically healthy by using the power of the body; this presentation focuses on training businesses to be financially healthy by using the power of the mind."

Jordan, who is originally from Ireland, was admitted into the Society for Neuroscience a number of years ago and has authored numerous articles about brain training and business enhancement. His first book, Mindfulness: Train Your Brain to Thrive in Any Circumstances, is due to be published early next year.

Jordan is currently president of Global Change Management, Inc., a business and personal development firm. He states, "My firm utilizes neuroscience, mindfulness and other emerging knowledge to pioneer new approaches to improve human and workplace performance." As a result of that and other key strategies, within eighteen months McDonald's stock price increased by over 100 percent and the turnaround has become known as one of the greatest in the history of corporate America.

According to one of Jordan's clients, Kim Marcille, a renowned entrepreneur and author, "If you need some clarity in your thinking or some unbiased, well-reasoned input on your options…Jonathan is your man."

Events such as the Athletic Business Conference & Expo contribute to economic expansion and increased employment, which is sorely needed at a time when national unemployment hovers at 9.7 percent. Jordan states, "I am delighted to be part of something that will not only directly stimulate the local economy, but will also stimulate the creation of new jobs across the nation. The more successful the businesses that participate in the conference become, the more jobs they will create."

Fulfilling New Year’s Resolution to Hit the Gym

Fulfilling New Year’s Resolution to Hit the Gym

Sports Medicine Expert Dr. Kevin Plancher on working out without getting hurt

Greenwich, CT and New York, NY (PRWEB) March 4, 2010

In February and March, many people remain resolute about their New Year’s vow to get in shape. Yet it’s important to exercise caution during a workout because as health club memberships surge after January 1, so do the number of related injuries.

Some are pure accidents: more than 50,000 exercisers a year are treated in emergency rooms after falling off exercise balls and treadmills, dropping heavy weights on their toes, and tripping on jump ropes. Other injuries are easily preventable, according to Dr. Kevin Plancher, a leading sports orthopaedist and Associate Clinical Professor in Orthopaedics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in NY.

It doesn’t matter how fit you are – an injury can occur after bench pressing too much weight or hunching over the stairstepper. The other risk? Taking a hiatus to recover can sap that New Year’s motivation and send people back to hibernation.

Dr. Plancher has ten suggestions to keep a workout from becoming a work-over:

Accept your limitations As the musculoskeletal system ages, bones lose density and strength; ligaments and tendons stiffen, lose circulation, and become more vulnerable to injury; cartilage becomes stressed and susceptible to tearing; and muscle mass decreases. When you reach middle age, this can lead to "boomeritis" injuries such as tendinitis and bursitis. “If you repeat a motion that forces the muscles will work in a misaligned way, it will catch up with you,” Dr. Plancher says. “That’s why high repetitions with low weights are always advisable.”

Feet first “If you participate in an activity more than three times a week, you need shoes designed for that activity,” Dr. Plancher says. “Many people wear running shoes to the gym, but they are designed to put your foot and leg into the best position to propel you forward.” If they are worn for activities with a lot of side-to-side movement, it can cause the ankle to roll to the side, wrenching the ligaments, and causing a sprained or even broken ankle. Cross-training shoes are a better choice for sports like tennis or step classes. Regular exercisers should replace their shoes every twelve months, or at the first signs or wear (running shoes should be replaced every 480 to 800 kilometers).

Warm up first Don’t stretch cold muscles. Run in place for a few minutes, breathe slowly and deeply, or gently rehearse the motions of the exercise to follow. “Warming up increases the heart and blood flow rates, body temperature, and loosens up other muscles, tendons, ligaments, and joints to decrease the risk of injury,” says Dr. Plancher.

Now stretch Begin stretches slowly and carefully until reaching a point of muscle tension. Hold each stretch for 10 to 20 seconds, and then slowly and carefully release it. Inhale before each stretch and exhale as you release. Do each stretch only once. Never stretch to the point of pain, always maintain control, and never bounce on a muscle that is fully stretched. It’s a good idea to do daily strengthening exercises at home to maintain flexibility, including wall sits, lunges on the floor, or climbing stairs.

Concentrate on muscle groups, not individual muscles “People hurt themselves when they put too much emphasis on one muscle — getting huge biceps or lats, for example,” Dr. Plancher notes. Instead, target more of your arms or shoulders with moves like the chest press or back row. “The best exercises work several muscles simultaneously; they give you better results because you’re building functional strength.” He recommends waiting people 48 hours before working the same muscle group again.

Mix it Up Cross-training — regularly switching from one activity to another — is more beneficial than consistently doing the same routine. It prevents mental burnout and different activities target slightly different muscle groups.

Go pro Putting too much resistance on a machine or using incorrect form can lead to injury. Letting the knee extend beyond the toes during a lunge or squat or using momentum to lift heavy weights are risky moves. Use mirrors, if available, to monitor your form and technique. “Remember to never lock out or lock in but rather work in the mid - range,” says Dr. Plancher. Consider signing up with a personal trainer (most health clubs offer new members one to two free sessions) to ensure that everything is in proper alignment.

Hands off With cardio machines like the elliptical trainer, keep your hands resting lightly on the handrails — not at your sides, elbows locked, supporting all your weight with a death-grip on the rails. A hunched position can keep you from breathing deeply and the improper spine alignment can be jarring to your shoulders and elbows. People tend to put a really huge incline (or high resistance) on the machine and then grab on. “If you need to hang on for dear life, your setting is too high,” says Dr. Plancher.

Rest In general, strength training should be performed at least two to three times a week with rest periods between training days for proper muscle healing. Unless you have other restrictions, do 8 to 10 exercises, starting with the larger muscle groups first. A good starting point is to perform 2–3 sets of 8–12 repetitions. Perform a full range of motion in a controlled manner; fast movements should be avoided. When that gets easy, Dr. Plancher says, you can increase the load by 2 percent (and no more than 10 percent).

Head and shoulders above Skip behind-the-head moves, such as the lat pull-down, which can put enormous strain on your shoulders. Only people with very mobile shoulder joints can keep their spines straight enough to do this exercise properly; otherwise, it can lead to shoulder impingement or a tear in the rotator cuff. When doing bench presses or flys, don’t let your hands drop below your shoulders (such overextension can cause injury). Substitute an incline press for a military press to avoid shoulder impingement.

Every year from 2001 to 2010 he has been included in Castle Connolly’s list of Top Doctors in the New York Metro area, as published in New York Magazine's yearly "Best Doctors" issue.

Drug Rehab Database Offers Free Information on Addiction Treatment

Drug rehabilitation and alcohol detox treatment center database, recoveryconnection. org, is offering a free addiction treatment newsletter. Subscribers find up to date information on innovative treatments and numerous resources for industry professionals and recovering addicts alike.

Jacksonville, FL (PRWEB) August 22, 2007 -

Online drug rehab and detox database, recoveryconnection. org (RCx), is offering a free addiction treatment (http://recoveryconnection. org) newsletter. The newsletter will distribute quarterly and it will contain information on drug rehab, alcohol detox, treatment centers, dual-diagnosis, gay and lesbian treatment centers, and more.

"We're looking to publish [the newsletter] quarterly, but if we can generate enough content, we're going to try to get it out once a month," says Online Marketing Director, Paul Gellar.

The newsletter is part of RCx's ongoing addiction (http://recoveryconnection. org) prevention campaign, which is outlined in detail on their website. It is part of a multi-faceted web-centered addiction prevention campaign that includes a live chat, a flurry of online advertising, and a frequently updated blog.

"It's going to have information that's actually relevant to those seeking treatment for themselves or their loved ones. We're concerned with providing high quality, truthful information on seeking help, what to do if you know someone who needs help, where to find treatment centers, and other tips," says Gellar.

Through this newsletter, RCx hopes to increase awareness of addiction symptoms and available treatments. Finding a drug rehab (http://recoveryconnection. org) program or alcohol detox (http://recoveryconnection. org) program that is effective and can meet your personal needs is not easy. Rehabilitation programs spin "success rates" for marketing campaigns, so it is important to stay informed about addiction and helpful topics like what to look for in a treatment center.

Community is an important aspect of the recovery process, and the newsletter helps connect the recovering community. Through the newsletter, members will be able to "express their experiences and opinions, and it'll be viewed by all subscribers in the RCx community," says Gellar.

Instructions for submissions to the RCx Addiction Treatment Newsletter are contained within the newsletter.

To help keep eyes healthy when hitting the curriculum, Optelec recommends the following tips:
Exercise and maintain a healthy nutritious diet: Studies show that eating foods high in Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Lutein, Zeaxathin and Bilbens leads to stronger eye health. Protect eyes from the sun: Wear sunglasses with 100 percent UV ray protection. Check computer screens: Make sure the screen isn't too close, but also not too far away. Talk with an eye doctor to determine the best distance. Schedule an eye exam: Don't wait until a vision problem comes up. If someone suffers from visual impairment, there are assistive aids that can really make a difference. To research available products, ask a local doctor for recommendations and go to sites like http://www. Optelec. com (http://www. Optelec. com) and http://www. ShopLowVision. com (http://www. Currently, more than 16 million Americans report some form of visual impairment. In addition, one in four school-age children have a vision problem significant enough to affect their learning.

About Reimage
Reimage, founded in 2007 by Zak Dechovich, is an online PC repair tool that scans, detects, fixes & repairs the Windows operating system. After repeatedly being asked to fix his family's crashing computers, Mr. Dechovich realized the need for a computer repair service that could easily repair any Windows-based PC.

With only four people at the beginning, Reimage was established in 2007 as a service that completely repairs the user’s PC when it’s already ridden with viruses, malware, and errors. And unlike any other anti-virus or registry cleaner on the market, Reimage has the technology to remove damage and replace corrupted files with new and healthy files, thus reversing damage to restore your PC's stability and health. The new files come from Reimage's Online Warehouse made-up of over 25 million updated spare parts (essential components for a PC's operating system).

Originally Reimage was only sold to computer technicians who used the product to repair their customers’ computers. After understanding how important it was to give the general public access to a tool that will let them repair their own malfunctioning computers, without having to call a computer technician, Reimage was made available to the public. Since then, Reimage has grown extensively and has successfully fixed over 1.7 million computers worldwide.

From the very beginning, Reimage envisioned creating a tool that would revolutionize computer repair for its numerous customers. Providing additional service and continued technical support has been an integral part of Reimage’s success. Reimage has always been a strong presence for its customers by offering technical support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. As more and more people use Reimage, the technical support team continues to grow to be able to successfully assist all of its customers.

Reimage wouldn't have existed without the continued technological advancement that comes from its very gifted Research & Development Team. Working closely together with Reimage's QA staff to ensure stability and quality control, the R&D team updates and improves the technology daily so that Reimage can provide the most updated PC repair service for its customers.

Billionaire Bill Bartmann Reveals How to Make Money in a Bad Economy

Billionaire Bill Bartmann Reveals How to Make Money in a Bad Economy

Former Teenage Alcoholic, Homeless Person, and Twice Bankrupt, “The Billionaire Nobody Knows” Offers Amazing Partnership Opportunity to Everyday Americans.

Augusta, GA (PRWEB) October 1, 2010

When it comes to acquiring wealth, the general public has two major blind spots: (1) They have no idea that bad economies are actually the best times to generate wealth. (2) They truly believe that they have to have lots of money, connections, education and experience to become wealthy.

Nothing could be further from the truth. And “The Billionaire Nobody Knows” is living proof of that fact. “I grew up in abject poverty, leaving home at age 14 to join a traveling carnival. I’ve lived under bridges and eaten out of dumpsters. I’ve been a teenage alcoholic, one who suffered the fate of becoming paralyzed from the waist down after falling down the stairs drunk. Doctors told me I’d never walk again.” explains billionaire Bill Bartmann.

“I’ve also become a millionaire three times, been bankrupt twice, and a billionaire once. I’ve been ranked as high as the 25th-wealthiest person in America. I’ve created a 3,900-employee company that was only exceeded by Microsoft in its ability to grow faster for a longer period of time. I’ve been really, really rich and I’ve been really, really poor. And, yes, rich is better.”

What Would You Do if You Could PARTNER with a Real BILLIONAIRE?

Bill Bartmann has prepared a Special Report that will show the reader things about making money that are typically only known by the most successful individuals in our society. Bill will also teach potential business partners the business methodology for making money in a bad economy, sharing his own amazing real life experiences as a backdrop, providing information that can be used successfully by anyone, regardless of age, race, economic situation, geography, credit history or education.

How You Can Become a Business Partner with a Self-Made BILLIONAIRE

Those with a sincere interest in learning more about becoming Bill Bartmann’s business partner are invited to download the 12-page Special BILLIONAIRE Report for more details about this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Those who have heard enough and want to take the next step without delay are asked to send an e-mail to BertDean@ClarionSouth. com, with BILL BARTMANN in the subject line, and their full name, physical address, phone number, and best time to call in the body of the message.

More about Bill Bartmann

Bill is the ultimate underdog/survivor/achiever, overcoming personal circumstances and tragedy to rise to the top enterprise in America. Homeless at age 14, a member of a street gang and a high-school dropout - Bill took control of his life by taking the GED exam and putting himself through college and law school.
At the request of a bank, he took over a foreclosed oil-field pipe manufacturing plant and turned it into a million-dollar-a-month business, until OPEC slashed the price of oil --- leaving Bill out of business and a million dollars in debt.

Refusing to give up, Bill and Kathy, his wife and business partner, borrowed $13,000 and created a new industry --- Debt Resolution. Three years later, they had repaid the entire million-dollar debt. Over the next 13 years, they grew the company to 3,900 employees with revenues in excess of $1 billion and earnings in excess of $182 million. They pioneered novel financial instruments still utilized today on Wall Street.

They also implemented unheard-of perks and benefits for their employees, such as salaries at two times the industry standard, free health care, free on-site daycare, a 250% 401k matching program, and legendary company trips where they took ALL of their employees and their spouses on annual trips to the Bahamas, Las Vegas and on ocean cruises. One year they leased twenty-seven 747 jets so they could fly 6,000 employees and spouses to Disney World.

Bill and Kathy have individually graced the covers of national business magazines: Kathy on the cover of Forbes, and Bill on the cover of Inc. They were listed individually on the Forbes 400 Wealthiest People in America list. One national magazine ranked them number 25.

Bill has been credited with singlehandedly changing and reforming the collection industry in America. His new mission, just as ambitious, is to "reverse the business failure rate in America".
Bill is already on his way to accomplishing what has been called an impossible task. Everyday working men and women, too, can be part of this exciting movement – a movement that may well transform the face of America and improve the lives of millions of people.

National Health Advisory On Radon - Environmental Education Foundation Backs U. S. Surgeon Generals Warning

National Health Advisory On Radon - Environmental Education Foundation Backs U. S. Surgeon Generals Warning

U. S. Surgeon General Richard H. Carmona, along with the support of the Environmental Education Foundation, is warning the American public about the risks of breathing indoor radon gas. The health advisory, issued by the U. S. Surgeon General, is meant to urge Americans to prevent this silent radioactive gas from seeping into their homes and building up to dangerous levels. Dr. Carmona issued the advisory during a two-day Surgeon General's Workshop on Healthy Indoor Environment attended by numerous EEF Members.

Washington, DC/Gilbert, AZ (PRWEB) January 16, 2005

"Indoor radon is the second-leading cause of lung cancer in the United States and breathing it over prolonged periods can present a significant health risk to families all over the county," Dr. Carmona said. "It's important to know that this threat is completely preventable. Radon can be detected with a simple test and fixed through well-established venting techniques."

Instrumental in training builders, lenders, IAQ professionals and other industry representatives on the Radon since the 1980s, the Environmental Education Foundation backed the Surgeon Generals advisory and EEFs executive director Troy E. Johnson added “Having been involved with the Radon issue as an EPA cooperative partner and current IAQ contractor beginning more than 15 years ago, the EEF is pleased to support the Surgeon Generals warning”

Johnson continued “Radon is an invisible, odorless and tasteless gas, with no immediate health symptoms, that comes from the breakdown of uranium inside the earth. Simple test kits can reveal the amount of radon in any building. Those with high levels can be fixed with simple and affordable venting techniques. According to U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates, one in every 15 homes nationwide has a high radon level at or above the recommended radon action level of 4 picoCuries (pCi/L) per liter of air.”

National Health Advisory on Radon

Radon gas in the indoor air of America's homes poses a serious health risk. More than 20,000 Americans die of radon-related lung cancer every year. Millions of homes have an elevated radon level. If you also smoke, your risk of lung cancer is much higher. Test your home for radon every two years, and retest any time you move, make structural changes to your home, or occupy a previously unused level of a house. If you have a radon level of 4 pCi/L or more, take steps to remedy the problem as soon as possible.

"Americans need to know about the risks of indoor radon and have the information and tools they need to take action. That's why EPA is actively promoting the Surgeon General's advice urging all Americans to get their homes tested for radon. If families do find elevated levels in their homes, they can take inexpensive steps that will reduce exposure to this risk," said Jeffrey R. Holmstead, Assistant Administrator, Office of Air and Radiation, U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

"Based on national averages, we can expect that many of the homes owned or financed by federal government programs would have potentially elevated radon levels. The federal government has an opportunity to lead by example on this public health risk. We can accomplish this by using the outreach and awareness avenues we have, such as EPA's Web site, to share information and encourage action on radon to reduce risks," said Edwin Piñero, Federal Environmental Executive, Office of the Federal Environmental Executive (OFEE).

A national Public Service Announcement (PSA) that was released to television stations across America in January, National Radon Action Month, is reinforcing this recently updated health advisory. In the television spot, the camera scans a neighborhood with rooftop banners that remind the occupants of the importance to test their homes for radon. The television PSA can be viewed at: http://www. enviro-ed. org (http://www. enviro-ed. org).

The Surgeon General's Workshop on Healthy Indoor Environment is bringing together the best scientific minds in the nation to discuss the continuing problem of unhealthful buildings. Indoor environments are structures including workplaces, schools, offices, houses and apartment buildings, and vehicles. According to a recent study, Americans spend between 85 and 95 percent of their time indoors.

In just the past 25 years, the percentage of health evaluations that the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has conducted related to indoor-air quality has increased from 0.5 percent of all evaluations in 1978, to 52 percent of all evaluations since 1990. This means that in those years, the evaluations related to air quality concerns have increased from one of every 200 evaluations to one of every two.

The problem is also adversely affecting our children's health as millions of homes and apartments and one in five schools in America have indoor air quality problems. This can trigger various allergies and asthma. Asthma alone accounts for 14 million missed school days each year. The rate of asthma in young children has risen by 160 percent in the past 15 years, and today one out of every 13 school-age children has asthma. Dr. Carmona and the EEF are especially focusing on how unhealthy indoor environments affect children.

Women to Women Advocates Changing Conventional Medicine's Approach to Managing Menopause Symptoms in Light of New Study

Women to Women Advocates Changing Conventional Medicine's Approach to Managing Menopause Symptoms in Light of New Study

The recent worrisome news that synthetic hormone replacement therapy causes more aggressive forms of breast cancer has led more women - and their doctors - to question the conventional standard of care for menopause symptoms.

Yarmouth, Maine (PRWEB) November 11, 2010

The recent worrisome news that synthetic hormone replacement therapy causes more aggressive forms of breast cancer has led more women - and their doctors - to question the conventional standard of care for menopause symptoms.

"A revision in the standard of care is long overdue," says Marcelle Pick, OB-GYN NP, co-founder of the renowned Women to Women healthcare clinic. "We've had an endless stream of negative studies on HRT since the original WHI study in 2002 showed it raised the risk of cancer, heart disease, and stroke. This latest study is simply the worst."

Unfortunately, the genuinely newsworthy aspect of this study has been lost in the sensationalistic tone of the media which is spreading certain incorrect information. The way the information was reported made it sound like taking hormones of any kind, in any way, increases the risk of breast cancer. This is not true. The women in the study were taking synthetic hormone drugs, which do not have the same qualities as hormones found naturally in the human body.

"The good news is that even long-term defenders of synthetic HRT are now questioning its continued use," commented Dixie Mills, MD, a nationally recognized breast cancer expert. "The number of women using synthetic HRT fell sharply after the WHI study came out, but the pharmaceutical industry has kept promoting HRT as the only alternative, and many doctors have continued to recommend it."

"Our view has always been that synthetic HRT should be the last resort, used by just the tiny percentage of women who don't respond to less risky approaches, and then only for the shortest possible period of time," added Pick.

Mills remarked, "The new standard of care should recommend improved nutrition, phytotherapy, lifestyle, and exercise as first-line therapy to manage menopause symptoms. If that doesn't yield enough improvement, the doctor and patient can try bioidentical hormones. While there aren't enough data to make final judgments about the long-term safety of bioidentical hormones, their efficacy is clear, there is no evidence of unusual risk, and there is a biologically plausible argument that they could be safe when used under a doctor's care with continual monitoring of hormone levels, as should be done with any form of HRT."

"Synthetic HRT should be the last resort," concluded Pick, "as it has been in our practice for most of the last 25 years. On our website we give away for free the information women need to follow the natural approach to balancing hormones first - this has helped millions of women. For those who don't want to undertake so much reading and self-help, we offer a web-based, at-home program. And of course we welcome patients at our clinic who want to wean off synthetic HRT and perhaps try bioidentical hormones instead."
