On April 25, 2005, radio hosts Craig Carton and Ray Rossi made racially derogatory statements towards the Asian Pacific American community and towards an Asian Pacific American candidate for public office.

Carton and Rossi also have a past history of prejudice and hate speech in which they have directed their bigotry towards the mentally ill and threatened violence towards patients recovering from addictive illness. Asian Media Watch allies itself with all those working to hold the employees and management of New Jersey 101.5 FM, and its parent company Millennium Radio Group ("Millennium"), fully accountable for promoting bigotry and hatred.

During their April 25, 2005 program, Carton and Rossi (a. k.a. "The Jersey Guys") used profanity and racial slurs, and spoke in "ching chong" mock Asian gibberish in order to denigrate Americans of Asian Pacific descent; portrayed Asian Pacific Americans as foreigners who interfere with the democratic and political process of this nation, and portray Asian Pacific Americans as outsiders who are not "American." Carton and Rossi referred to Asian Pacific Americans as "Damn Orientals and Indians," spoke in "ching chong" gibberish, demeaned a candidate for public office Jun Choi, as well make other derogatory statements.

In January 2005, Carton outraged mental health advocates by stating that women suffering postpartum depression "they must be crazy in the first place," and other disparaging comments directed towards the wife of acting New Jersey Governor Richard J. Codey. In April, 2004, Carton attempted to incite violence towards people recovering from addictive illnesses by stating that he would burn down the homes of recovery patients, preferable with them in it, and shoot recovering patients in the head.

The on-air displays of hatred and bigotry expressed by Millennium employees are harmful not only to the Asian Pacific American community. Carton and Rossi perpetuate a climate of intolerance and hatred towards people of different backgrounds and towards the disadvantaged. Carton and Rossi disgracefully attempt to represent the State of New Jersey and "White blue-collar workers" as being supportive of their own individual prejudiced views. Their promotion of intolerance and hatred are an affront to the common decency of all who value diversity and mutual understanding that crosses the lines of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, age, and mental or physical disability. Not withstanding the fact that Asian Pacific Americans have contributed to the social and economic fabric of American society since the 1800s, Carton and Rossi have spread propaganda that devalues the contributions of made by Americans from all different cultural and religious backgrounds.

Asian Media Watch demands the termination of radio hosts Craig Carton and Ray Rossi for their bigoted and racist attack on the Asian Pacific American community and for their history of bigotry towards the mentally ill and other disadvantaged members of society. The organization calls for full accountability by the employees and management of NJ 101.5 FM and parent company Millennium Radio Group ("Millennium") -- that Millennium take full responsibility for condoning the atrocious behavior of Carton and Rossi; and that Millennium take immediate steps to remedy this matter including, but not exclusively, the implementation and enforcement of business policies and practices that prohibit bigotry and hate speech, and to ensure equal opportunity and diversity in employment practices at all Millennium radio stations and offices.

Young men are often pressured by peers to use illegal steroids in their quest to gain weight through muscle mass. “Skinny” weight lifters and athletes now have someone to look to who can help them achieve their goal without the illegal substance.

While we often think of the new year as a time to lose weight, for many young men the desire to gain weight through muscle mass is so strong they often resort to use of illegal steroids.

“Skinny” guys have struggled for years to develop muscle mass and strength, but finding a way to do that without using illegal steroids has seemed impossible to them. They eat everything and anything, and still they do not gain weight.

After years of low self-esteem and growing desperation to gain weight, they often give in to the temptation and take steroids, which is not only illegal it is dangerous to their health.

Anthony Ellis, a fitness consultant, was the classic skinny guy. Super thin and unable to gain weight after a lifetime of trying. Finally he learned the proper way to eat and weight train exclusively for building muscle. Since 1998, he has gained over 60 lbs of lean muscle, not fat, all without the use of dangerous steroids.

Now he teaches other young men to repeat his success, without the use of steroids.

“Young men are coaxed into trying steroids by friends, teammates, other guys at the gym, and co-workers. Unfortunately many people who do take steroids, don’t know the full health effects and potential dangers of what they are getting into,” explained Ellis.

Many of the young men Ellis helps do not even know that it is a serious crime to possess or use steroids without a prescription. He spends a great deal of his time educating young men so that he can help them achieve the added muscle mass they want without the risks of steroids.

So far he has helped over 70,000 “skinny guys” gain weight through muscle mass. How? Eating the right foods and getting the right exercise.

“Though we eat a lot of calories, we don’t eat junk. Our diets are healthy. Consisting of whole foods, low sugar, and plenty of fiber,” Ellis explained. His students also spend time at the gym lifting weights and doing other exercises specifically designed to turn the food they eat into muscle mass.

“Make no mistake, these recommendations are not for everyone,” warned Ellis. “It’s only for those of us who find gaining weight a challenge.”

First photovoltaic system on central PA school to provide long-term energy savings

Benefiting from a $1.4 million State of Pennsylvania grant that encourages solar energy projects, the Bald Eagle Area School District has entered into an agreement with Tremco Roofing and Building Maintenance (Tremco) and Smart Energy Capital (SEC) on the purchase, installation and long-term use of two rooftop photovoltaic (PV) systems. The systems will be installed at Wingate Elementary School and the Bald Eagle Middle/High School. The Bald Eagle Area School District serves 12 communities in the northern portion of Centre County.

Under the terms of the agreement, SEC BESD Solar One LLC, a division of Smart Energy Capital, owns the systems and will sell power to the two schools under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) at a fixed rate per kilowatt hour for 25 years. The district will purchase 100% of the power that the two systems generate; combined, this will provide more than 50% of the schools' electricity demands. Annually, the middle/high school system will generate approximately 670,000 kWh of solar electricity while the elementary school system will produce about 300,000 kWh. Tremco will install and provide long-term maintenance for the systems. Installation is expected to begin this summer and be completed by the time school begins in the fall. New Tremco roofs were recently installed on the two schools as part of a $26 million renovation project.

Tremco Roofing and Smart Energy Capital are partnering to bring rooftop photovoltaic systems and affordable PPAs to customers in education, healthcare, government, commercial and other markets nationwide.

According to Superintendent Dan Fisher, the district will incur no costs to have these systems installed or maintained. Mr. Fisher said, "This is a wonderful opportunity to support the green initiative, reduce energy costs, and provide an educational experience for our students. For example, an internet-based monitoring program will enable our students to see how much power is being generated by the PV systems in real time."

The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has launched a mega marketing campaign titled Dubai Heart. The campaign, targeting international tourists and residents of Dubai, was unveiled at a press conference held today (April 30, 2005).

The campaign will run through the upcoming Arabian Travel Market 2005 (ATM) where DTCM will participate with a 623 square metre stand. ATM, being held from May 3 to 6 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, is the leading travel industry event for the Middle East and and Pan Arab region and is expected to attract thousands of international travel and hospitality trade professionals. The Department has planned several on-site promotions at ATM to coincide with the new campaign, to promote Dubai in international markets.

The campaign was introduced through a series of ‘teaser adverts’ at strategic outdoor venues throughout the emirate. The hoardings used Arabic calligraphy motifs to create a heart shape that spells Dubai.

Commenting on the launch of the campaign, DTCM Director Operations and Marketing, Mr. Mohammed Khamis bin Hareb said, “This campaign is the result of a well-researched and carefully thought-out strategy wherein our media team has worked from concept through objectives and mechanics to practical issues such as timing.”

“The heart means different things to different people and is symbolic of the courage and dynamism shown by our leaders in creating a trade and tourism destination unlike any other,” Mr. bin Hareb said.

The Department has also organized radio promotions to give-away ‘Dubai Heart’ merchandise including caps, T-shirts, pins and mugs. “The promotional items have been tastefully designed to give people a sense of pride while sporting them anywhere in the world.

“The print advertisements will feature local residents and expatriates talking about why they love Dubai. The campaign has a strong emotional appeal to allow people to easily identify what makes Dubai tick,” said Mr. Ahmed Al Tunaiji, DTCM Manager Media and Advertising.

“The campaign has been timed to coincide with the staging of ATM to target the large groups of delegates and visitors from key international markets. The DTCM stand will display ‘Dubai Heart’ branding prominently. The stand will also feature a wind tower dispensing Dubai Heart embossed stress balls to ATM visitors. DTCM information kiosks in Dubai and across the city as well as the dedicated arrivals counter for ATM delegates at Dubai International Airport will have Dubai Heart branding,” added Al Tunaiji.
